The San Jose SaberCats will have their time next year just like they thought this year would be their year but it will always be next year because their franchise is really cursed or something. The SaberCats cruised to a 12-2 season, losing only twice all season and only once on the road all season as well. They were truly a juggernaut, full of active players who were updating weekly and making my job as SaberCats updater extremely difficult and it made me cry every single week on Saturday when I had to sit down and process all their updates. The SaberCats got punked in the playoffs though by the unruly Otters who would go on to win their 5th Ultimus championship, extending their record over all other franchises. The SaberCats will remain strong though and look to break their curse of 0 playoff wins next season and really hope that they can finally overcome this hump. I think the SaberCats roster is one of the strongest in the leagues and they will probably add to the strength of their defensive line this offseason. With a strong defense and their offense getting better with Christ and Oles' development, watch out for this team as they cruise into the playoffs with likely home field advantage again.

2) SPOTLIGHT ON THE YOUTH - Can be completed anytime

Big old Danny Grithead is starting to get up there in age but he is still a Season 10 player. Having wrapped up his 4th season in the NSFL, he now has 2 rings on his finger both with the Otters who grabbed him in the first round of the Season 10 draft. Grithead boasts a Pro Bowl appearance on his resume and had a big sack in the ASFC championship game against the SaberCats. Grithead was lined up at linebacker that game and his big sack on 2nd down killed a SaberCats drive early on in the game and set the tone for the rest of the game. Grithead has primarily been lined up at CB or outside as a nickel back, but the Otters coaching staff made a change in the strategy for the ASFC championship game. For the Ultimus, Grithead once again was lined up at linebacker and made a large contribution in shutting down Zapp Brannigan. Grithead is becoming more and more of a leader for the Fanta Curtain on the Otters defense and he now has gotten plenty of taste of success in the playoffs. He is still several seasons away from regression so he should be hitting his prime and looking to contend for some excellency awards in the near future.

4) QUARTERBACK MATCHUP - Can be completed anytime

I was really excited to watch Joliet Christ go up against Gus Showbiz in the ASFC championship game. Both quarterbacks run the shows for their respective offenses and have had turbulent careers. Showbiz is one season senior to Christ but Joliet Christ has developed into a really excellent quarterback and adversary against Showbiz. The SaberCats and Otters are likely looking at matching up in the playoffs for several seasons to come, and this showdown is the 2nd in their growing rivalry in the playoffs. Showbiz has been very prone to turnovers in the regular season, including throwing a 4 touchdown, 5 interception game late on in the regular season. Meanwhile, Christ has suffered from a poor offensive line, being sacked quite often. In this matchup, Showbiz settled in quickly on the road and managed to avoid any turnovers, controlling the clock and really tiring out the SaberCats defense. Meanwhile, Christ struggled, throwing for 259 yards and an interception along with one touchdown. Last season, Christ had nightmares from the Otters defense, throwing for just over 100 yards so he improved this time but could not manage to break down the Otters enough to put up enough points. We'll see these two go at it again for years to come.

The Quarterback matchup in the DSFL final, between the Tijuana Luchadores and the Kansas City Coyotes was one for history. S14 draftees Rose Jenkins and Corvo Havran would matchup against each other. Each bringing their own set of skills. Corvo would bring the arm, the game plan, the smarts, quick wits and the charm. Rose would bring a sack bag for our DL to train on.

In this game Tijuana would fly out of the gate and score 14 points in the first period. One from a run by Davis and one after a solid 7 yard pass by Havran to Nate Swift. Stephan Harris Jr. would successfully make both extra point kicks. Rose Jenkins would make a 2 yard pass to Chase Jensen to get the Coyotes back within 7, but a run by Roronoa and a beautiful 53 yard kick by Harris Jr. would put the Luchadores up by 24 points to 7.

Coyotes came back in the third with 2 touchdowns, one from a run by Davenport and one after a 9 yard pass by Jenkins to Davis after Corvo Havran threw an interception at the 35 yard line and was touchedback for 13 yards. Starting the Coyotes off at the 22 yard line. Score line is now 24-21. The fourth period would feature only field goals, one by Tijuana and two by the Coyotes. To end the fourth quarter with a tied game. In over time Harris Jr. became the man and scored the winning field goal.

Looking at Havrans stats versus Jenkins, we see that Jenkins threw two touchdowns with no interceptions. With Havran throwing one touchdown and an interception. Havran would throw for 315 yards with a 10.5 yard average on 52 attempts with 30 completed, a 58% completion rate. Jenkins would make 204 yards with 12 yard average on 37 attempts with 17 attempts completed, a 46% completion rate. Jenkins would end the game with the better Quarterback Rating.

Arguably Jenkins threw the better game, although completing a worse amount of throws, she did not throw a single interception. An interception which would lead to a instant turn around and touchdown by the Coyotes.

At the end of the day Jenkins had the better game, but Corvo won the cup so Corvo wins yay.

Alright, so I think that the Kansas City Coyotes actually have a decent chance at bringing home the Ultimini Championship this season. I think most people believe that San Antonio are the heavy favorites given their league best record, but if you dig into the wins and losses Kansas City handed San Antonio 2 out of their 3 losses on the season not to mention that Kansas City has won 5 out of their last 6 down the stretch of the season. I think that if these 2 teams happen to meet in the finals then it's really going to come down to whether or not the Coyotes can shut down running back Fast Boija who has been nothing but stellar all season. All of this being said, the road to the finals is difficult and realistically any team could end up making it there. If Kansas City is going to make it we are going to need stellar quarterback play from Jenkins, a solid running game from Davenport, and for Anoa'i to come up with the big catches. The Coyotes defense has been pretty dang stout the last several games only allowing 20 total points over the last 2. If they can keep up that level of play and the offense bumps up the intensity a little bit a championship is totally reasonable thing to attain.

I don't think anyone could argue that Fast Boija (S12) hasn't been the most dominant player over the course of this DSFL season. Yes, San Antonio may have given Boija the ball more than any other team gave their RB the ball by a significant margin, but it's tough to overlook the fact that this monster of a RB gained nearly 1000 more yards than the second leading rusher in the league. If that's not the absolute definition of taking over the game then I really don't know what is. Anyway, so how does this translate into how Boija can affect the outcome of this year's Ultimus? Well that's a pretty easy answer. He's the star player on the league's most dominant team. He is the definition of a work horse and when he's clicking there really is no stopping that offense. I can't imagine that San Antonio isn't going to rely on him once the playoffs start. So really, the success of the offense is going to come down to whether or not Boija can get going and if the defenses they face can do anything about it. It's going to be tough for any defense to stop the guy who led the league in rushing yards and touchdowns though. As previously mentioned, this is the player that has the highest chance of being the most important impact player in these playoffs.

Alright so we are going to be looking at the DSFL match up between the Kansas City Coyotes and the Portland Pythons. First of all, lets look at how these teams did against each other throughout the regular season. In their first match up of the pre-season, Kansas City managed to emerge victorious in a 16-9 win. That being said, in the first game of the regular season, Portland pounded the Coyotes winning that one 27-9. Kansas City would also struggle in their second meeting of the regular season losing 22-10. The Coyotes would not go down fighting though and would win their last 2 match ups against the Pythons with scores of 13-6 and 17-10. This is going to be a match up of 2 very even teams from the regular season. Only 1 win separated these 2 organizations with Kansas City narrowly taking 1st place in the conference. This game is going to come down to who can make the fewest mistakes. Both teams have very even running backs in Smallwood-Chess and Davenport and both quarterbacks of Jenkins and McCoy have identical passer ratings of 66.3. It was a real battle throughout the regular season between these 2 teams and this match up is building up to be another classic. It's going to be nasty out there and the winning team is going to the finals with a chip on their shoulder.

Written: Write 200 words on one of the QB matchups in this year's playoffs. What are you most excited to see (Or excited to have seen), who will play better (Or who played better), etc.

I kind of already talked about this match up in the previous question, but the battle between Jenkins (Kansas City) and McCoy (Portland) in the DSFL playoffs has all of the potential to be a classic. I'm not sure if there has ever been a quarterback battle between 2 players who were so closely matched. Jenkins comes into this game with 213 completions on 387 attempts for a total of 2306 passing yards with 10 touchdowns and 14 interceptions for a passer rating of 66.3. McCoy comes into this game with 221 completions on 358 passing attempts for a total of 2175 passing yards with 9 touchdowns and 18 interceptions. Neither quarterback is a legitimate running threat at this point in their careers, but they do have the mobility to avoid taking some sacks. 2 very even quarterbacks on 2 very even teams. What this game is really going to come down to is which offensive line can give their quarterback more time to go through their progressions and which team's receivers can get open. Portland's offensive line led the league in pancakes and allowed the fewest sacks by a large margin, so McCoy is going to get his opportunities. That being said, McCoy also led the league in interceptions. All-in-all, this is going to be a very tight match up.

QUARTERBACK MATCHUP:
Coming into the playoffs we had ourselves 4 teams with amazing quarterbacks leading their teams ready to go. In the stacked ASFC we had Joliet Christ, leading the 12-2 San Jose Sabercats offense, hosting Gus T.T. Showbiz and the Orange County Otters. Both superb talents with offenses loaded with weapons for them to go to. In the NSFC the Colorado Yeti, led by kicker turned quarterback, Micycle McCormick would be hosting Adriana Falconi and the Philadelphia Liberty. I'm sure most people were more excited to see Christ go head to head with Showbiz, but personally, I was more excited for the NSFC matchup. The Yeti sold out their future picks hard at a chance for an Ultimus game win in S13 or S14 and were here in the playoffs like they'd hoped but needed to get through Philly first. At regular seasons end, Falconi and McCormick were the 2nd and 3rd best quarterbacks by QB rating respectively and were poised to put on a show. Unfortunately, the actual result was much less of a QB shootout and more of a blowout by the Yeti on their home turf. McCormick would go on to throw for 4 touchdowns not even 5 minutes past halftime while Falconi would end up getting picked off 5 times by 4 different members of the Yeti defense. A real laugher of a game in what should have been a much more highly contested game based on regular season stats.

It Is Our Time:
Going into next season the NSFC has made a large jump in talent level. The Hawks added a metric ton of talented free agents including names like Marquise Brown, Asipi III, Ben Horne, and a bunch of others I'm too lazy to list out here. With that being the case they become clear favorites to finish 1st in the conference. However, outside of the NSFC championship game, the battle for that second NSFC playoff spot should still be highly contested between the Philadelphia Liberty and the Colorado Yeti. Like I said already, Philly losing star running back Marquise Brown to free agency and a rival hurts the offense a decent amount, fortunately, they decided to add a talented player on the opposite side of the ball to help them out marginally. Former Arizona Outlaws safety Bucky Barnes was traded almost as soon as the final whistle was blown at the conclusion of the Ultimus game across the country to the Liberty in exchange for some picks and young wideout Sam Hardwick. Barnes steps away from being one of the best players on the Outlaws defense to hopefully guide this talented Philadelphia defense back to the playoffs. Getting to the playoffs will be the true test. If we can manage to take most of our games against our conference rivals and get into the playoffs then we enter into "any given Sunday" mode where anything can happen in a single game elimination style tournament.

SPOTLIGHT ON THE YOUTH:
If my lazy ass had decided to stop procrastinating and written this a week and a half ago before the Ultimus Game was played the "youth" player I would have been looking out for on every play would have to be S12 draftee, Colorado Yeti linebacker Beau Montgomery. This guy has had himself a decent start to his career to this point and, in what I assume was his first playoff game (I'm not going back to look because it's late af and I'm lazy like I said) in the NSFC championship game against the Liberty he snatched himself 2 interceptions, 3 pass defenses, and 4 tackles in the blowout victory. After that fantastic performance, he had to be on everyone's radar for guys to keep an eye on in the Ultimus game against the stacked Orange County Otters. This game was close from the opening kickoff until the final seconds ticked off the clock in what would eventually be a 24-21, so both teams needed their defenses to be all hands on deck. Montgomery didn't have himself nearly as incredible of a game as he did the prior week but he still kept his stat sheet respectable. He only managed to grab 6 tackles for his team, but at this point in the season it's more about not making too many mistakes which I don't think he did from watching the game.

(S13) - Ultimus Week - PigSnout - 03-04-2019

It Is Our Time This (Next) Year

Season 13 was a strange year for the Hawks as they came into the season as the reigning NSFC champions and looked to be championship contenders but ended up finishing tied for the worst record in the league. Normally it would seem like the team would need to make major changes after a disappointment like this, but I don't think that is a case. The Hawks were actually favored in test sims in six of their first eight games. This means they should have started the season off 6-2 but in reality they got off to a 1-7 start. If they had won those early games they were favored in, the Hawks would have finished 9-5 and been the top seed in the NSFC. So it seems like the Hawks really were as good as they were expected to be, but just had bad luck in the sims and vastly unperformed their expected results. The Hawks still have a very talented roster and will now have some high draft picks to add to it in the off season in addition to any free agency signings they make. Even with the disappointing results this season, I think the Hawks could bounce back in a big way next season and be serious contenders to win the Ultimus Trophy.

Spotlight on the Youth

One Season 10 player who has the potential to have a huge impact on the playoffs this season is San Jose Sabercats quarterback Joliet L. Christ. The Sabercats are in the midst of their best season in franchise history with a 12-2 record and look like the favorites to win the championship with home field advantage throughout the playoffs. I think one of the most important factors in deciding whether they live up to their potential in the playoffs will depend on the play of their quarterback. Christ is still young as this is just his third year as a starting quarterback in the NSFL. He doesn't have much playoff experience as he has only played one playoff game in his career so far and he struggled in that game as he recorded a 47.5 passer rating in a 35-10 loss against the Orange County Otters. If Christ struggles and puts together a poor performance in the playoffs, it could sink a promising season for the Sabercats. However, Christ could also be the key factor that elevates the Sabercats to a championship. He was the most efficient quarterback in the league during the regular season this year with a league leading 93.4 passer rating. If he continues his high level play into the playoffs, it is going to be very hard for any other team to beat the Sabercats. As a young player playing at the most important position on the league's top team, Joliet L. Christ will be a very interesting player to watch during the playoffs as he could have a major impact on the ultimate results of the playoffs, one way or another.

Pre-Game or...Post-Game

The ASFC Championship Game was an exciting game with the league's top two teams from the regular season going head to head. The Sabercats were looking for their first playoff win in franchise history and the Otters were looking for a chance to repeat as champions and to have a shot at winning their fifth championship. The Sabercats took the lead early as their opening drive touchdown was the only score of the first quarter so they held a 7-0 lead at the end of the quarter. The Otters responded with a touchdown early in the second quarter but the Sabercats responded back with a touchdown on the following drive to regain the lead at 14-7. The Otters were able to score another touchdown within the final minute of the half to make it a tie game with a 14-14 halftime score. The Otters took their first lead of the game with a field goal on their opening drive of the second half and extended the lead with another field goal on their next drive to make it a 20-14 game entering the final quarter. However, the Sabercats took back the lead with a touchdown on the first play of the fourth quarter to take a 21-20 lead. The Otters quickly responded with a touchdown and a two point conversion on their following drive to take a 28-21 lead. This would be the final lead change as the Otters' defense would hold strong for the rest of the game and the Otters tacked on one more field goal in the final seconds of the game to come away with a 31-21 victory and book a trip to the championship game with a chance to repeat as champions. This game was exciting throughout and lived up to the expectation of two top teams going against each other.

Quarterback Matchup

The Ultimus matchup between the Orange County Otters and the Colorado Yeti presented an interesting quarterback matchup. Both quarterbacks had put together strong showings in the regular season and had helped lead their teams to the championship game. Gus T.T. Showbiz was the victorious quarterback as he passed for 247 yards, 2 touchdowns, 2 interceptions, and a 77 passer rating on 22/36 passing in the Otters' 24-21 win. However, Micycle McCormick also had a solid performance despite the Yeti's loss with 291 yards, 2 touchdowns, 1 interception, and a 84.7 passer rating on 36/54 passing. It's hard to say who won the quarterback battle. McCormick had more yards and had higher passer rating, a better completion percentage, and 1 less interception despite having 18 more passing attempts. However, Showbiz had a higher yards per completion and had the same amount of touchdowns on 18 less attempts and ended up on the winning side of the game. Overall, both quarterbacks put up pretty similar performances. Neither performed badly but neither performed amazingly either, so both performances were overall decent. Both quarterbacks performed below their regular season average passer rating, so credit goes to the defenses for playing strong games and preventing this game from becoming a shootout as it could have been much more high scoring if both quarterbacks were on the top of their game.

(S13) - Ultimus Week - Leafs4ever - 03-04-2019

It Is Our Time This (Next) Year

We had the best record in the NSFL, home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Our offense scored the most points in the league and carried the best rush attack in the league. Our defense was literally ranked number one in every category. To say that our time is now is an understatement. We went into San Jose against Orange County and everything came crashing down. That number one ranked defense? Gave up 31 points. A season full of promise came crashing down.

While we thought our time was now, I guess we have to adjust the timeline. Our time is now next season. While this loss hurts terribly, we're still a relatively young team with lots of players improving every week. Next year all of our key players will be that much better. The biggest difference is going to be our quarterback. We need Christ to be a successful team and with yet another year under his belt, he'll be more equipped to lead us to the promised land. This loss would feel much worse if we were at the tail end of our contention window, but we're not. We still have lots left in the tank and you'll see. Our time is still coming, and it could be coming next season.

Spotlight on the Youth

As one of the best wide receivers in the NSFL, it's hard to believe that Kazimir Oles is as young as he is. Drafted in Season 10, Oles has burst on the scene to quickly become the best wide receiver on the San Jose SaberCats and one of the best in the league. There are few who have worked harder since entering the league and the results show on the field. In the regular season, he finished with 1242 yards, good for sixth in the league. However, he ran away from the field with a staggering 13 touchdowns. Whenever Christ threw it to Oles, he created magic.

In the playoff match-up against the Otters, Oles has to be the spark plug. He's a vertical threat that the Otters secondary has to keep an eye on. You almost have to double cover Oles and take from another area of the defense. In two regular season games against the Otters, Oles put up 196 yards and two touchdowns. He knows their secondary and he knows how to beat them. Everyone knows Christ is going to be looking Oles' way, so the Otters have to be ready to defend him. For such a young player, Oles is one of the most dangerous players in the league. He is the key to a San Jose game plan against the Otters.

UPDATE: Despite the loss, Kazimir Oles put up 105 yards and 1 touchdown. He was dangerous and productive, exactly what everyone expected him to be.

Pre-Game or Post-Game

The Colorado Yeti will be battling against the Orange County Otters for the Season 13 Ultimus Trophy. Both teams had different paths to get here. Colorado dismantled Philadelphia in the NSFC Championship Game while Orange County went into San Jose and clamped down the SaberCats to win the ASFC Championship. These two teams will now battle for the NSFL's biggest crown in sunny Orange County because the Otters finished with the better regular season record. Let's examine this match-up.

The Yeti finished the regular season with a 8-5 record, good for first in the NSFC. They had a very good pass offense, led by quarterback Micycle McCormick, tight end Verso L'alto, and wide receiver Howard Miller, which carried them to the second most points per game in the league. Their defense was also good, especially the secondary, ranked third in the league. On the other side, the Otters finished at 9-5, good for second in the ASFC. They were the best passing offense in the league also averaged the most yards per game. Across the board, their defense was ranked number two, just behind the team they defeated in the ASFC Championship. On paper Orange County is the favourite.

In the regular season, they split the series 1-1, with both teams winning at home, which bodes well for Orange County. The Otters the more well oiled machine, especially on defense. They stopped the SaberCats, who boast a great offense, and they still got their points on offense against the best defense. The Yeti dominated against Philadelphia and showcases their weapons. I'm actually very intrigued with this match-up. The Yeti have a good secondary, which they'll need against the top passing offense and both teams don't really rush the ball that great. You know both teams will be airing out the ball and that will make for a fun game. My head says Orange County because of their defense, but my heart says Colorado.

Quarterback Matchup

The quarterback match-up in the Ultimus Game is a very good one. It pits the Yeti's Micycle McCormick against the Otters' Gus T.T Showbiz. Let's delve into the stats of both quarterbacks.

The Otters definitely ask more from their quarterback, with Showbiz throwing the ball more than 100 times more than McCormick. With that, Showbiz led the league in yards with 4877, with McCormick trailing behind with just 3964 yards. Showbiz also led the league in touchdowns thrown with 30, 7 more than McCormick threw. What McCormick does have on Showbiz is accuracy and protecting the ball. McCormick had a higher completion percentage and also threw 9 less interceptions. It's clear the style of both of these guys. Showbiz is a volume thrower who isn't scared of any throw. McCormick is a more methodical thrower, picking his spots on the field. Is the free throwing attitude of Showbiz better than the game manager attitude from McCormick? I don't think there's a right answer as both pose their pros and cons.

If I had to pick one guy, I think I go with Gus Showbiz. The Otters give him all he can handle in the offense and he has shown that he can handle it. On the other side, McCormick is great for what he's asked to do, but can he handle a big workload like Showbiz can? If the Yeti find themselves down a couple of scores early, they will need to start throwing a bunch and we don't know how McCormick is going to react to that. It's that unknown that gives the edge to Showbiz, in my opinion. Micycle is still a great quarterback and one that is plenty good enough to led Colorado to a Ultimus win, but just looking at raw stats, we'll give this match-up to the Otters' Gus T.T Showbiz.

1) IT IS OUR TIME THIS (NEXT) YEAR
As a member of the Arizona Outlaws I have to agree with the consensus of the league and say we're in store for a rebuild over the next few seasons. S13 had us as a darkhorse to compete for the Ultimus, but sadly we failed to crack the postseason this season. Next season will be an even longer shot for playoff seeding, let alone success, as we turn our focus to the young and upcoming talent and say farewell to several long time greats. It's a passing of the torch and while the team will struggle for a few seasons it's only a matter of time before they return to the form the league once saw where Arizona was a contending team season after season. Opting to build through the draft and hopefully snag some young FA's looking to make a name for themselves, the Outlaws could challenge for the Ultimus as soon as S16. There are already a few young players bursting with potential on the roster including Lucius Kaine, Raymond Vans, Arbin Asipi, Andrew Reese and Alex Selich, the last four of which should make a formidable defense for seasons to come. They also possess a number of draft picks in the upcoming Entry Draft which is believed to be a deep one. If their scouting goes well and they land some more darling to add to their young core you could be looking at a scary Outlaws squad in a few seasons.

2) SPOTLIGHT ON THE YOUTH
There is a long list of names S10 or newer that able to break a game wide open, but none have been quite as effective as S11 selection, Neo Donaldson. The kicker/punter for the San Jose Sabercats has been nothing short of brilliant since entering the league is S12, and built upon that resume in S13 finishing the season with 125 points, 2nd overall in the league. In his first season he managed to crack the pro bowl roster and made strong case again in S13. Last season Neo and the Sabercats failed to deliver in the post-season after a strong regular season performance. After yet another fantastic regular season that saw them go 12-2 and dominate the entire league they are eager to prove they are more than just regular season studs. Neo will play a huge part in doing so, as the Sabercats rely on his significantly for point production. If he can remain consistent like he has done through two years of regular season play you'd be hard pressed to bet against the Sabercats in their upcoming matchup against the Orange County Otters. While they are the favorites to win, the Otters are the reigning champs and have no shortage of experience when it comes to elimination football. Neo Donaldson is young, but has proven to be a gamechanger when called upon. It should be an exciting matchup.

3) PRE-GAME or...POST-GAME
In the conference final matchups we had 4 quality teams going at it to see which 2 would advance to the finals, but I think most people had their attention fixated on the ASFC game between the Orange County Otters and the the San Jose Sabercats. With a S13 record of 9-5 and the coming in as the reigning champion you'd have to think the Otters were the favorite to win this one, but it was actually the Sabercats who finished the regular season with a sparkling 12-2 record that were believed to likely win the big matchup. With 419 points for to the Otters 363, and 276 points against to the Otters 329 they entered this one with the superior offense and defense. As we would soon find out though, experience goes a long way in the playoffs. The Sabercats jumped out to an early lead with a touchdown from Oles, but Ricky Adams and the Otters would answer with a touchdown of their own to start the 2nd quarter. San Jose would regain their 1 score lead off a 5 yard run from Jerrod Canton, but Sunnycursed would respond with a touchdown to end the quarter with a score of 14-14. Orange County would knock down a pair of field goals in the 3rd quarter to put them ahead 20-14 to enter the 4th and final quarter, but Orosz and the Sabercats would erase that lead early in the final frame with a touchdown to regain the lead 21-20. With 10 minutes remaining the quarter the Otters experience would shine as Ricky Adams would score his second touchdown of the game to put the Otters up 28-21. A clutch field goal late in the quarter would put this game out of reach for the Sabercats, as the "underdog" and reigning champs would move on to the Ultimus finals for a chance to repeat.

Written: Write 200 words on your team and either why they should be looked at as Ultimus champions this season, or if your team has been eliminated, next year, or the year after for those non-believers.
The San Jose Sabercats have had a rough go of it throughout their history. Now with the acquisition of Chad and Thad Pennington last season combined with the development of some recent draft picks we've seen two incredible regular seasons in a row. This seasons we were the best team in the entire NSFL, losing only two games. One of those games was definitely a fluke with us losing to the New Orleans Second Line. The other loss was to the other best team in the NSFL, the Orange County Otters. With the Otters and us trading games this season I think we both have a great chance at winning but I have to say that we're the better team. Starting simply with having a better record than OCO to having more total TPE than any other team in the league, it seems that not only are we better on paper but we've executed better all season.

The great news is that if anyone wants to say this is isn't our season then that's fine. None of our players are going to regress this offseason so we can come back better, faster and stronger next season too. I'm hoping we go 14 - 0 next season honestly. I don't think it's out of the question, we're that good.

Written: Write 200 words on one of the players in this year's Ultimus Week that are Season 10 or newer and spotlight on how they can affect this year's Ultimus. (Or have affected)
Right now I think the most exciting young player that is going to be a big difference maker during these Ultimus playoffs has to be Freezer Riposte. Coming into the draft he was the consensus #1 pick and he's absolutely lived up to his potential so far. He's already one of the strongest, fastest and most agile players on the line in the entire NSFL. I'd say his biggest issue is that his tackling could use a little work and he needs work on his core strength so he's ready for every player without being tired. I have full confidence that he can use his best skills to overcome any of his shortcomings this post season though.

Throughout the season he led the way for the Sabercats on the defensive line when it comes to both tackles and sacks. He's by far the top player to come out of the S12 draft at this point. He's getting close to reaching his prime and he's playing on the top defense in the entire league. I believe this is the best chance that Riposte will ever have to show that he's a huge difference maker in this league. I think we're going to see him get at least 5 sacks in the Ultimus playoffs and reach double digits in tackles. At 6'5" he definitely has the physical tools to get it done, it's all about execution at this point.

Written: Write 200 words on one of the QB matchups in this year's playoffs. What are you most excited to see (Or excited to have seen), who will play better (Or who played better), etc.
The quarterback matchup that I'm most excited to see in these Ultimus playoffs is Joliet H. Christ vs Gus T.T. Showbiz. These two players were drafted within one season of each other (Christ in S10 and Showbiz in S9), meaning they're at similar points in their career and both have been developing at an extremely good pace. I have to say that I think this is going to be a battle of quarterbacking style for the ages. On the one hand you have a gunslinger in Christ, a guy who has what it takes to throw the ball as far down the field as any receiver can go, on the other have you a pocket passer in Showbiz who can't throw quite as far but makes up for it with being just a little more accurate with his passes.

At this point I have to say that Showbiz is the more refined quarterback, but I think it's pretty plain to see that Christ has the better passing options. Kazimir Oles, Xavier Flash and Zapp Brannigan provide three excellent passing options while Crush stands head and shoulders above the next two options for Showbiz in Tegan Atwell and Sunnycursed. We'll see which offensive leader distributes the ball better, but at this point I think my money is on Christ.
