Season 1 Round 1 Draft Grades - Darnellthebeast - 06-29-2017

[div align=\\\"center\\\"]Eleven weeks into the regular season, our analysts will be reviewing the first round of the season one draft and grading each pick. At this point in the season, players have provided a strong enough sample size to give a fair grade, but at the same time still have the chance to sway opinions through the use of great or bad games.[/div]

1. Orange County Otters - JJ Reigns - DT Reigns has been great so far. He is tied for 2nd in the league with 10 sacks, and with those sacks he brings another 32 tackles from the defensive tackle position. However, as someone who was picked first overall, we would expect him to be the clear cut number one defensive tackle and one of the best defensive players in the league. This is not the case. Reigns has been outperformed by Trent Bender, a 23rd round pick who plays for the Wraiths. Bender outperforms Reigns in both tackles (39 vs 32) and sacks (11 vs 10). Despite this, Reigns has still been a top three defensive lineman in the league, making this a good pick. Grade: B+

2. Yellowknife Wraiths - Josh Garden - WR Garden has started his career off fantastically. As of now(prior to week 11 games), Garden is one of two receivers over the 800 yard mark, and is only 3 yards behind he league leader. He also averages 17.2 yards per catch, making him once again number two in the league(10+ catches). He's doing this all despite consistent double teams, as he is the only receiver on the team over 500 yards. Garden has thus far established himself as arguably the best receiver in the league. Grade: A+

3. Colorado Yeti - Phillipe Carter - CB Carter has established himself as a CB 1, but at the same time hasn't truly lived up to his potential as a third overall pick. Carter has 40 tackles(6th for CBs) along with pass breakups (T-6th for CBs). Unfortunately, he only has two interceptions so far. As a third overall pick, Carter needs to make more big time plays in order to fully live up to his potential. Grade: C+

4. San Jose Sabercats - Alexander Selich - LB One of the few bright spots for the San Jose Sabercats, Selich has performed well in his inaugural season. He is third in tackles with 95 and also has 5 sacks(T-4th for LBs). His consistent performance with tackles along with his difference-making sacks make him one of the best line backers and defensive players in the NSFL. Grade: A

5. Baltimore Hawks - Damien West - WR West, the second receiver taken in the first round, has been an impact player for the Hawks. 760 yards(5th) and 52 receptions(3rd) make West a core part of the Hawks offense. Finishing those stats off with 14.6 yards per catch(5th), West can definitely make an argument for #3 receiver in the league behind Garden and Stormblessed. If West continues to perform as he has thus far, then he'll have proven himself to be worthy of a first round pick.Grade: B+

6. Arizona Outlaws - Mayran Jackson - FS Jackson's rookie season in the NSFL can be described as disappointing. Jackson boasts no interceptions on the season and is 4th in tackles for free safety's. At this point in his career, Jackson isn't even a top 5 player at his position. Overall, this pick by the Outlaws was a miss, as they could have chosen plenty of other free safeties who have performed better. For Jackson to make this pick worth it, he needs to finish his season strong by getting turnovers for his team and helping them make a run at the Ultimus Trophy. Grade: D+

Thanks for the kind words! I think Bailey Cook needs to be considered among the top WRs in the league as well as West and Myself. He has been a beast all season!

Trent Bender coming through. Easily the most talented defender in the league. Just pure, raw, athleticism. If he gets his training done right, there's no question he could be the best player in the league.

It's crazy how good he is, to be honest. The sim loves it some Bender. Lol I'm not mad at it though.

Jackson is like Asomugha was. He don't get the big stats because everyone is terrified to throw to him. Lucky for us the rest of our secondary is great as well
