*Free Agency Survey - furiousPanda - 04-02-2020 Hello the NSFL Universe, I'm looking into the topic of free agency, tamper rules and want to gauge on what some of you think about it. If you could help me out and submit the following survey it would be greatly appreciated. Survey *Free Agency Survey - iamslm22 - 04-02-2020 Allow tampering and eliminate tampering rules *Free Agency Survey - speculadora - 04-02-2020 (04-02-2020, 12:50 PM)iamslm22 Wrote:Allow tampering and eliminate tampering rules I expressed as much in my response to this but I don't really think this would help. FA isn't dead because people don't know what else is out, there it's dead - imo - because people are loyal, and especially so with their first players. And when you consider that something like 75% of actives in the league are S21 or S22, it becomes clear why you aren't gonna see a ton of movement. I mean just look at this class. There are people willing to hold out for/threaten to leave for/hoping to end up with certain teams who haven't been here more than a couple of months. Also, it's very easy to be a successful player even earning casually. Which means money doesn't mean a ton for people, especially if they like their team's LR. If you wanted to generate more FA activity you'd probably need a greater reward for high TPE earning AND greater scarcity of $, neither of which we really have. And unfortunately doing either would probably require either re-designing the league or changing sims. *Free Agency Survey - Billybolo53 - 04-02-2020 I put this in my response but their should be a legal tampering period from the end of the Ultimus to the official start of free agency. *Free Agency Survey - Ephenssta - 04-02-2020 (04-02-2020, 11:08 AM)Billybolo53 Wrote:I put this in my response but their should be a legal tampering period from the end of the Ultimus to the official start of free agency. That would be really interesting and is something that I think exists in most other leagues. It would be fun to have a week where GMs could reach out to upcoming FAs without restriction. *Free Agency Survey - RainDelay - 04-02-2020 Not being able to talk to players before they sign extensions is so tough. *Free Agency Survey - Billybolo53 - 04-02-2020 (04-02-2020, 05:03 PM)speculadora Wrote:I expressed as much in my response to this but I don't really think this would help. Yeah they would prolly need to cap media earnings which would make people riot and then maybe have the option to buy a PT pass or Predictions pass throughout the season. Maybe people could sell sigs for big money too. *Free Agency Survey - ItsJustBarry - 04-02-2020 When I was a GM, I proposed a FA rule that for whatever reason didn't even make it to vote. It would all teams to contact upcoming FAs after the week 10 trade deadline. This still gives the players current team until week 10 to extend the player but if an agreement wasn't reached would give other teams ~2 IRL weeks for conversations before free agency signings would occur. A more radical timeline would be to allow teams to contact players in the last year of their contract starting Day 1 of the season. The team the owns the rights could still sign and extend the player during the season but it would give the player the ability to explore their actual market value before signing an extension. *Free Agency Survey - bex - 04-02-2020 (04-02-2020, 11:08 AM)Billybolo53 Wrote:I put this in my response but their should be a legal tampering period from the end of the Ultimus to the official start of free agency. I mean, Free Agent talks already open immediately following the Ultimus, with signings with new teams being allowed a few days later. Is that not already in line with what you're saying? *Free Agency Survey - Billybolo53 - 04-02-2020 (04-02-2020, 09:46 PM)bex Wrote:I mean, Free Agent talks already open immediately following the Ultimus, with signings with new teams being allowed a few days later. Is that not already in line with what you're saying? Didn’t realize that was in place already. Thanks Bex. Than I’ll just piggy back what others are saying, that period should be extended. 2 days is not a lot of time to reach out to potential FA. |
