(S25) - PT 1 - Opening Statements - Baron1898 - 10-05-2020 (S25) - PT 1 - Opening Statements Complete the weekly Point Task to earn 3 TPE! All written responses must be at least 200 words. All graphic responses must show at least some effort. Do not claim this TPE until it has been graded and posted to the S25 claim thread. Written and graphic responses must be posted solely in this thread and not for additional media credit. Also, if you try to build your word count by being super repetitive and rambling on, you will not get full credit. We’ve had a number of incidences involving PT plagiarism. If you are caught stealing someone else’s work, you will be punished as HO sees fit, including the potential loss of TPE or money. Do your own work please. This task is due next Sunday, October 11th, at 11:59 EDT. Have fun and get writing! Written Option: In 200 words or more, present some argument about the league that can be supported with evidence - either with logic, stats, or examples. This could be anything - a player’s HOF case, why Berlin will win the Ultimus this year, why player agent rules need to be changed, or anything in between. Make sure your argument has at least some evidence backing it up, and avoid arguing anything that could venture into persona attacks. Graphic Option: Use graphics to present an argument that fits the above criteria, showing evidence for why your reasoning is sound. As always, you can link your affiliate PT: SHL; GOMHL; PBE. I know this is slightly controversial since I know the entire point of the DSFL is just to develop players before they enter the ISFL, and other than that the DSFL doesn’t matter. But I think this is a bad way to think. The DSFL in my eyes is slightly more important than the ISFL, mainly because that is where you really see if people are going to stay or leave the league. I think that with how the DSFL currently is, it makes it harder to retain some people as really there is nothing to do in the DSFL at all other than be on a team. There is no PTs, Predictions, Dotts, Casino, Fantasy, or really anything for the DSFL. It is basically there to just try to string people along and try to keep them around to the ISFL where all the best stuff is. I also see a bunch of league vets and recreates have animosity in regard to the DSFL because it is basically just in the way of their careers, so most just want to get out as soon as possible. I think that if we want to try and improve player retention and help the ISFL grow, we need to do something with the DSFL and make it more of a smaller version of the ISFL instead of just a door step for people to wipe their feet on. Some things I think would be cool would be having an Alumni week for DSFL and have an Alumni Bowl similar to the Prospect Bowl. Also, maybe add a DSFL HoF so people actually have a goal to reach for in the DSFL. Also, maybe we can add fantasy, PTs, and Predictions for DSFL, but I know those affect TPE so I can understand if those aren’t good options. I am probably biased since I am in the DSFL, but I truly believe that as the league grows and the more people neglect the DSFL, the more it can harm the league in the future. So maybe now is the time to start having these discussions about the future of the DSFL and how we all can improve it. The Grey Ducks last season had a decent team in many ways, a capped QB, one of the most lethal run games in the league, and a solid, young defense. Obviously that did not happen as the Ducks failed to end the year with a winning record. That is going to change this season, and the doubters will be in for a rude awakening. Defensively the Ducks will have six starters capped. Both starting safeties, starting corners and two linebackers. Many of those players were towards the top of the league at their positions without being capped. Offensively the ducks may struggle at first, but with both running backs returning, the ground game that was so feared last season will be going for the throat of defenses this season. With a killer draft class coming in, they have an influx of young talent that are looking to make an impact, and with such a great supporting cast it’s hard to see the Ducks not making an impact, especially on defense. Remember, offense sells tickets, but defense wins championships.
