The rookie everyone should be the most excited for is superstar kicker, Dean Jackson. Everyone knows that the key to scoring points and winning championships is to have an automatic kicker man on the roster. There is nothing worse than driving down the field and getting stalled out offensively only to have your kicker shank an easy 3 points. What’s even worse is when you do manage to make it in the end zone, all you need is that easy extra point to tie things up. You need a man who works well under pressure and can rise up to the pressure to secure those victories. This is where Dean Jackson comes in. Not only did he have the most extra point attempts last season in the DSFL, he made every single one of them. In addition to being flawless in the extra point game, he led the league in field goal percentage of any player with at least 10 attempts. With this kind of production, he should be a surefire first round pick and I wouldn’t be surprised if he was selected first overall. With a team like Colorado kicking off the draft, they should secure at least 1 player that can effectively put points on the board.

The rookie who is most exciting to me is none other than the fellow Baltimore native John Wachter. The rising WR has shown a lot of great things in his time in the DSFL, and will prove to be a helpful asset to the Baltimore Hawks. He will provide them with a solid number 3 target immediately, sitting behind stellar WRs in LeClair and Willie. As a slot receiver he will excel in matchups against LBs, and slot CBs, and will be able to exploit these matchups once he has adjusted to the league. He’ll also provide Baltimore the ability to mix and match their schemes, as they will be able to put Willie in the slot now, or LeClair, and use Wachter as a solid target to face an opposing team’s CBs, and he will be someone who isn’t just a filler body that the defense doesn’t have to worry about. Going to the Hawks allows Wachter to grow without much pressure, as he won’t be thrown into the fire like he would with a team like the Legion or Yeti, teams who desperately need talent and leadership. Wachter will be a great addition to his hometown team, and should prove to be great asset for the team as they will now be a little bit more tricky to defend and the slot becomes a lot more dangerous. Two words: Terrell Brister. This is the dude right here. This guy right here? He’s the dude. Since joining the league, Brister has already risen to the prestigious office of Head of the Recruitment Team and has joined the Las Vegas Legion as co – GM. He brings and excitement, passion, and dedication for the league that is unrivaled by his peers not named Er. And that is not to mention his actual player. Brister took home the DSFL defensive rookie of the year award, which was very well earned. He will be joining a Legion squad that is sorely lacking in the almost everything department.

One of those departments is the defensive secondary, where Brister will be joining the reigning NSFL defensive rookie of the year Oakes. Together they will be shining bright spots on a unit currently lacking in bright spots. Nevertheless, the Legion front office is confident that Brister is the type of talent that will shine even without a supporting cast.

But his on the field play is only a small reason why Legion have much to be excited about. Brister brings with him a winning culture that the Legion desperately need, and he looks to be a key piece that will help the Legion build a brighter future.

The rookie I am most excited to see is easily John Wachter. The dude absolutely lit up the DSFL last year. I mean you look at the awards he won. Wide Receiver of the year, Offensive Player of the year, offensive rookie of the year, Most Valuable Player and Outstanding player and you see there's going to be a star. The dude won a title leading the Portland Pythons. Then you look at his stats. He Lead the DSFL in all the important receiving categories. He was the leader in receptions, Yards, and touchdowns. He finished the year with an astounding 95 receptions, 1144 yards and five touchdowns.

Many are curious about where he's going to go in the NSFL draft. If gets drafted by Colorado in the top two Wachter immediately becomes the top target for young QB Nicholas Pierno. He would get a lot of targets, but would have to deal with teams top corners. At number 3 and 4 would be much more appealing for Wachter. He would have either of the NSFC Pro Bowl Quarterbacks Avon Blocksdale or Matty Aks throwing to him. For Wachter's sake we should hope he gets drafted third overall because we all know how much better Avon is than Askelsen, just ask @Bzerkap. Either way, I expect to see John Wachter be the offensive rookie of the year in S5. 229

Either one of my DSFL teammates could probably be the answer to this prompt, as both Crush and Wachter had incredible seasons and have huge hype surrounding them. Very deserving of all the hype and accolades surrounding their success, both expect to be very high picks in the draft. I'll be writing about Carlito Crush for this article. The supposed #1 overall pick is coming into the draft as probably the most well rounded offensive player in the draft. This league is very WR dominated and somehow, Crush has create a level of excitement that hasn't been seen in the league about a TE in a very long time. Heading to the Yeti, it may not be an ideal situation in the standings, but Crush seems to be a front runner for rookie of the year right away. I think Pierno will be looking for him on every passing down and the running game will get a huge boost from Crush's blocking ability. Both parts of the Yeti offence will get a boost. Add in the addition on Bly Jr. on defence and you've got a pretty bright future. While the Yeti are probably a year away from being contenders, Crush will be a cornerstone of the offense for the foreseeable future.

I have to say, I am most anticipating watching where Tegan Atwell goes and how she does at the professional level. A lot of detractors say she is going to fail simply because of her gender. However, her skills that she displayed in the DSFL prove otherwise. She is a great young talent at corner and could transition to safety if the team she is drafted requires her to. The storyline that she will be the first female player to be drafted in the NSFL is one athat will overshadow the fact that she is probably the best cornerback to be drafted in the NSFL since the Season 2 draft. She has a strong work ethic and a lot of teams have a pressing need for corner. Andre Bly Jr and Cameron Taylor are projected to go higher in the draft, despite the obvious superiority that Atwell displays. I would like to refrain from speculating that this is simply because they are male, but it's hard to avoid the elephant in the room. Of course that isn't to say Bly or Taylor aren't talented or deserving of a top pick, but in my scouting opinion, the Blues cornerback displays the most overall talent and will be a premier corner for a long time.

The rookie that excites me the most entering the S5 NSFL draft is Portland Pythons TE Carlito Crush, standing at 6'6" tall. Last season, the Pythons took a 11-3 run to the playoffs and got their first DSFL championship with the help of Crush. At a current 272 TPE, this kid has one of the most complete skillset of any rookie entering the S5 NSFL draft. Not only was he one of Portland's primary receivers (alongside John Wachter) , he was also a powerhouse in the trenches. This kid had 25 pancake blocks on the season... while racking up 81 receptions, 720 yards and 4 touchdowns. And when the playoffs came, he snagged 15 receptions for 111 yards and 2 TDs in two games. Crush is a versatile player that will make a difference on both a run first team, and a pass first team. The Yeti really need some help on offense this year, as they finished 1-13 in S4, and i think Crush is the guy who can help jump start this franchise back up. I fully expect the Yeti to pick this guy up with one of their top 2 overall picks to make a huge difference in their offense.

Fresh Booter was the new Legion acquisition in the S5 draft. You would think that with a name like this, the guy is a kicked, but no, he’s a wide receiver. I have no clue what a wide receiver does in life but I’ll guess they receive the ball from further away, you know, wide. (i have been informed that he plays tight end, is that like the total opposit ?) Born in Wellington, Florida, Booter played football in the Colorado State university. He’s now with the Legion, and will probably mentally prepare himself about losing a lot. Last Vegas Legion (do you see the pun ?! fuck that was great.) will definitely need all the help they need and Booter will be able to get some of the job done. He’s a quick player that will run across the field and not a lot can stop his bulk when he decides to sprint. He’s 6’6” and 250 lbs of pure muscles. Decently agile for his size, he also got hands your wife would be jealous of. The offense of the Legion will be the strongest part of the team in the fifth season of the league, not going to be amazing, but going to be the best part of the team. Booter will be expected to step up right away and perform in the team.
