*The AdamS Mock Draft: The First 12 - AdamS - 03-31-2018 Well kids, it's time for the update you've all been waiting for. Well, some of you. And as we're getting closer to the draft itself, we're expanding our pick predictions from 10 to 12 because we're not just here to rehash old content. We want to bring you NEW content. Also, why do I keep referring to myself as we? That seems weird. We really need to work on that. IN the meantime, let's get into the part where I put in a ton of work but you mostly skim to the part with your team or your name if you're a potential draftee. Besides, PDX already thinks I need to rewrite this and I haven't even written it to begin with yet. Here we go. #1 ![]() Howard Miller WR Still the consensus number one pick. Still the direction it looks like the Yeti will go. However, I mentioned the possibility of trading out of this spot in my original mock, and that is still possible. If anything, it's more possible because the Yeti traded Boss Tweed to the Wraiths and picked up two addition picks in this round. It's a lot easier to let people woo you into giving them the first pick when you have four more within the top ten alone. This is still a possibility. There is an additional possibility that I also sort of kind of touched on. It seems to me to be more set in stone that the QB the Yeti want is Applehort. It makes sense for all the reason you already know given his history with the team and their history with quarterbacks. What has come up more frequently since my first mock is the interest other teams have in Applehort. The question here is, do you forgo Miller to get Applehort? You can't trust many potential trading partners because a good number of them might want to snatch him up. The Yeti decision might end up being harder than it previously seemed now that they've zeroed in on THEIR guy. That said, Howard Miller should be viewed as the #1 pick for the Yeti until one of these facts stops being a fact. #2 ![]() Valdimir Fyodorovich CB The most impressive thing to take note of here is that apparently I spelled this name correctly by memory. That said, I still haven't seen anything to think that the Hawks are changing their ways on carrying a Tight End. I still haven't seen anything to say that the Hawks have addressed their defensive issues. Quick reminder everyone: The vast majority of the Hawks defense regresses next season. They extended Noah Goodosn and traded for young d-lineman Bogdan Wojcik but they still need more. They need to draft now to make that transition smoother. Vlad's the lad. #3 ![]() Verso L'Alto TE I admit to being torn on this one. At first. The Otters are one of the teams that have seemed interested in Applehort. Which means they're looking to a future where Mike Boss isn't at the helm. Which means they're actually looking at QBs. And it's all very believable. Except I realized that it's too early. Boss has about 3 seasons before regression hits him hard enough to really effect QB play enough that stepping aside for a younger player makes sense. The Otters are smart and savvy enough to know this. Next season's draft? Way more believable to me, unless Boss has a plan to duck out early, change positions and watch Bronko surpass all his records about a season later. Raise your hand if you have been here more than a season and you believe that scenario. Oh..nobody? K. The Otters pick up L'Alto because they also have an insurance policy. What is that policy? The other guy they want is in almsot no danger of being picked here. The Boss Tweed trade took the Wraith off the board and the guy in question well....we'll get there at #8. #4 ![]() Ryan Applehort QB It's time to move into the next era. The trade that netted the Yeti this (and the following) pick is a testament to that. Applehort is that. And barring any weirdness, he's going back to Maryland Colorado. And though I will give him shit for being an even lower pick this time B) he's exactly the guy the Yeti franchise needs. Not much more needs saying because the Yeti have two more picks coming right up. When you watch the draft, the picks will be spaced in their announcements, but they'll be picked all together at once. Otherwise the other GMs WILL give Meme shit for it. #5 ![]() Desta Danger CB The complement to Andre Bly Jr. in the Yeti secondary, which has turned into a respectable unit. They're literally already discussing nicknames, people. The No Bly Zone and the Danger Zone are individual sections of the field already. How about tossing in the steady safety Michael Tillman? You get the Colorado Triangle. Passes go in, but they don't come out. This is the single surest pick in the entire draft in my opinion, barring soemone trying to screw with mock draft points. #6 ![]() Ryan Lefevre LB A lot of people have the Yeti taking another pass catcher here. They already have Crush, Aaron, and now Miller. Wheat is semi-active and nowhere near regression yet as a slot/3rd guy. You know what they'd love to have though? A 3rd/4th linebacker to replace Krimlaw's dusty corpse. Seriously, that guy is getting auto retired before regression even hits him. With Saint and Ishagawa leading the way and having picked up the underrated Rob Anderson, Lefevre steps into what can be a dominant group very soon. Plus..let's call some things what they are. there's another Linebacker the Yeti would've been interested in. That's not happening (we'll go into it at #8, in case the first clue wasn't enough). Yet here sits a person who seems to have developed something a rivalry with that other linebacker. Well gosh isn't it interesting how that fits directly in with the Yeti's feelings on the matter. #7 ![]() Mike Miles CB Danger was the pick I gave them the first time. Things changed. Mike Miles is steady, active, and fits the CB need. They've made a lot of noise about the possibility of going linebacker. Specifically multiple members of the team. Directly at me. Right after I said they were picking a cornerback. Somewhat aggressively. They'd still like to be free of the Cushing baggage. They still need a CB to build towards that. They don't need receiving threats. They don't need linebacker as much as they tried to steer me in that direction. Guys. Your #3 LB is better than all but one other #3 LB. Both your CBs are inactive. I'm not buying it. #8 ![]() Mason Brown LB Oh hey. It's that thing. Brown came out publicly and demanded not to be picked by the Yeti due to personal dislike of the way the Yeti GM does his job in other leagues. Pretty spicy stuff. But also pretty simple. He wasn't going before 4 anyway. The Otters didn't need because they're in sold enough shape to wait it out. the Hawks don't like their players to be overly dramatic. Seriously. Think about the Hawks. Raven. Trey. Hendrix. Slm. Hero. Chamber. Goodson. These aren't big loud personalities. It's the adult table. They're going to steer clear of all this drama. So when Boss Tweed was shipped off the wastes of northern Canada, the game changed. And that left Mason Brown sitting in the perfect position for the Liberty or Otters to nab him. And the Liberty....let's just say they've had a player that Brown probably reminds them of. I know it my first thought. I don't see them going that direction. The Otters on the other hand are an organization that is confident in handling big personalities and making it work for the team. Thus, here we are. #9 ![]() Thomas Kane III LB An interesting situation in that Yeti are already addressing numerous positions. What they NEED now is someone who will switch to dline so they can provide that one last piece they're looking for. The question is where that person is. I think it's Kane. Call it a hunch. Call it instinct. Call it my response to his response to our conversation. I swear that will make sense to at least one team, and I think it's the Yeti. #10 ![]() Mark Grau WR The Yeti moved two first round picks. Initially I planned to make a joke here about how they must've realized there were no running backs to draft and lost interest. Then I realized they literally traded those picks FOR a running back. So you know....a little too close to home I guess. Kennedy is likely moving to WR across from Cook, basically improving TWO offensive positions. or he'll jsut keep at RB but playing slot a ton which is effectively the same. McPoyle is holding down the TE spot. The secondary is the best in the league and it's not close. The d-line is fine for now. The linebacker corp is a bit of an issue but they just watched the three really viable LBs get drafted. They are one of two teams who can really afford to let Grau sit in the DSFL for an extra season. And the other team has the next pick. Barring something really crazy, like Cole McCoy (reminder: Bzer can still position switch) the Wraith have improved their offense a fair amount with the addition of Tweed and they have to believe that last season was a ton of bad sim luck. Thus..this is where Grau's slide ends. And then in s8 he comes up into the league after gaining more TPE and is ready to roll and the Wraith move into their next phase. #11 ![]() Stone Hans WR "Oh well, next plan." Otters' Secret Motto. They miss Grau and take the next guy on their board. Hans comes in as a #3 receiver and with L'Alto they bring the two rookies along in the most explosive passing attack in the league, allowing Jordan Yates to do more running to balance them out. Next up, next out. The Otters call it a win and move on. #12 ![]() Alvin Chipmunk TE Well liked within the team. Well liked in the league. Steady contributor. The offense finds a way to include him and the rise of the Second Line offense continues it's long term trajectory. The Second Line don't actually neeeeeed a ton. They need even less of what's available in the draft at this point. The receiving corps and return game got a boost with the additions of Stormblessed and Law. The defense got a big boost by adding O'Sullivan, Zheng, and even Verns, who wasn't on the team til partway through last season. There aren't 148 kickers this time to add to that facet. Thus, Chipmunk is a luxury you can afford at this spot if you're the Second Line (which I am). All right. There's version 2. Expect my final version in a few days as we get nearer and more rumors circulate and more trades happen and draftees make noise to get themselves picked. See you soon. We didn't use this exact phrase, but it's rather close.
