(S14) PT 3 - Expansion - ven_knight - 04-14-2019 Since Yellowknife is the only NSFL team far to the north, I think the league would benefit from having more teams located somewhere close to the Wraiths to start a new rivalry. The obvious choice would be another Canadian city like Toronto or Vancouver, but the one I would like to nominate for a new franchise is Anchorage, Alaska. It's not a common region to choose for a sports team but I think I would be an interesting place for football. The team will be named the Anchorage Arctic Foxes, featuring a home uniform with a predominant white color and letters/numbers in a teal tone with small details/outlines in gray or black; the away uniform will be mostly in a teal color, with numbers/letters and other details in white, outlined with gray or black. The stadium will be called the White Fortress and it will be designed as a small dome with a capacity of 25, 000 with an option to expand it depending on attendance. For the field, one endzone is going to have written the name of the team and the other one the name of the city, in both cases small white foxes heads will be added at the right and left of the writings, as well as putting a small detail of snowy mountains above the letters. The mascot will be Shiro the White Fox. Don't be afraid of the cold tundra, if Yellowknife is able to support a NSFL team, Alaska should have one as well. 254 Words (S14) PT 3 - Expansion - Player1 - 04-14-2019 Quote:Written Option: Expansion is coming! But we don’t know where to yet. You get to Create a franchise in a city of your choosing. Describe this new team. Come up with a mascot, color scheme, or maybe name the stadium. Tell why you chose this town. Have fun with it. The Great Lakes are arguably the birthplace of the professional football scene, with sandlot teams "going pro" as early as the 1900s and forming the backbone for what would eventually inspire pro leagues like the NFL, AFL, and NSFL. Well, after careful deliberation and a lot of soul searching the NSFL league office has decided to put the lakes back on the map with a new expansion team, introducing the: ROCHESTER LAKERS The team will play near the shores of Lake Ontario in Wegmans Stadium stadium with a capacity of 27,000. The league hopes to tap into this large market with a team that appeals to crowds from Syracuse to Minneapolis. The simple navy blue jersey with yellow and white stripes hearkens back to the old days of pro football, as well as to the sailing traditions of the great lakes area and the blue/yellow themes used by several teams in the region from the Sabres to Michigan University. They will wear a white helmet with blue and yellow stripes and white pants with blue stripes as a primary uniform, and "all-blues" jersey and pants with yellow stripes with a yellow helmet as a home alternate. For an away it will be all-whites with blue and yellow stripes, or maybe they'll wear blue pants if they feel like it. No matter which Great Lake you call home, you'll now have a great NSFL team to cheer for! I chose this town because I feel that the Great Lakes region is unrepresented in the NSFL and Rochester is a city that has no pro football team. It would be the second smallest market by itself but could appeal to a very wide range of people in that region. I thought about making it more centrally located such as Michigan, but I like Rochester so screw it. (S14) PT 3 - Expansion - Roly - 04-14-2019 Awesome news about expansion and love this PT idea to get the league thinking about it. For my team proposal here I’d argue location is almost as important as branding - people want somewhere interesting. Somewhere unique, different, but popular and identifiable. To pick a spot let’s consider the current makeup of the NSFL: Orange County (South US), Baltimore (East US), Yellowknife (North CAN), Colorado (West US), Philly (East US), New Orleans (South US), Arizona (South US), and San Jose (South US). With 4 southern US markets, that market is well served. In my opinion there’s two types of teams to go with: classic or unique. Classic cities would be New York, Boston, San Fran, Washington, LA. Those would all be terrific spots, but I think the appetite in the league is for a more unique choice. You could go outside the continental US, with something like Hawaii or the Caribbean, maybe Cuba? Havana has a nice ring to it. So what brand? The easy choice is something bland, but the experience of the New Orleans relocation offers a model of using a city’s culture and history for guidance. So, here is my team for either the 9th or 10th expansion: the Havana Silver Fleet. New England is home to football royalty in real life, but for some reason, that does not carry over to the NSFL universe. I propose we change that. I want a team in Boston or New England, and they can steal the color scheme of one of our existing major sports teams. Boston doesn’t appreciate college athletics, but they could surely support an NSFL franchise. I propose that if we do have an expansion team go here that I immediately get to take Mike Boss out of retirement for one season to be the washed up QB leading the way. If this is not a possibility then I trust that the Orange County front office would find a way to get me there eventually, or I would just wait until my contract runs out. Boston has had so many winners over the past 20 years, but they get no love in our leagues. I can understand why, I mean it would be a foregone conclusion that in any league the team from Boston would win and everyone else would come up well short of expectations. [207] (S14) PT 3 - Expansion - JKortesi81 - 04-14-2019 There’s only one place to go for NSFL Expansion: Buffalo, New York! Buffalo is my home town, and its one of the best places to live. The food is the best in the world (Seriously, we have the best pizza and wings hands down) and its relatively cost effective to live here. We’re close to Canada, and it’s pretty obvious that the best real life football fans are the Bills Mafia (even if the name is fucking stupid) and we come out and support our teams all of the time with no problem. Plus, Buffalo is long overdue for a bad ass stadium on the water front. The weather isn’t nearly as bad as people act like it is, as we only get one really bad snow fall a winter. But what does that do for the football team? It gives them awesome warm weather games in the beginning of the season, and occasionally an awesome playoff atmosphere with the snowflakes falling later on. As for the logo, I’d like something cool like the Ninjas or something. Colors? Well we already have a Blue, Green, Orange, Yellow, Maroon, Black, Purple, and Red team, so we need a white team or even a pink team or something. Who knows? (208) (S14) PT 3 - Expansion - timeconsumer - 04-14-2019 If I was going to make an expansion team it would be the Charleston Ironclads. I think Ironclads is a fantastic branding for a football team.. It evokes thoughts of war, fighting, toughness, and booms. That sounds like some football stuff to me. I wouldd choose Charleston because we need a team to represent the southeast US. There are so many great NFL players who come from places in the southeast US that it would be very fitting. These places dominate in the NCAA football world. Think Alabama, SC, North Florida, Georgia, and lots of other parts around there. I also like Charleston because it's an old city that has some cool history. Combine it with the Ironclads branding because thee Ironclad was used in the Civil War which Charleston was a big part of. I think one of the Ironclads that was used by the South was called the Charleston. That's pretty perfect. For colors I'm thinking something like with what the Vegas Raiders are doing with Grey, White, and Black. It would bee a very unique color scheme that no other teams have anything similar to, which would be really interesting. Am I at 200 words yet? Nope, dang that was hard.
