(S15) - Ultimus Week - Roly - 06-20-2019 1) Playoff Predictions, Reviews: Written: Give a short write up of one or multiple playoff matches. If completed before the airing of the sims have predictions, after if it is a review the game. Graphic: Make a graphic displaying the matchups in the playoffs. If completed before sim, predict scores and show stats, if after, give a summary of game showing stats and top performers. Going to review the championship game between the San Jose Sabercats and the Baltimore Hawks. After both teams light up their respective conference championships with eerily similar scores, both in the high thirties facing teams that only managed to put up scores in the teens, the consensus was that the Hawks had the better chance but anything could happen. Well it ended up that the Hawks won, and it was not even close. In the most lopsided NSFL Ultimus Championship game in history, the Hawks routed the Sabercats to the tune of 49 to 0. Embarrassing end to the Sabercats season aside, this is a triumphant and exclamatory win for the Baltimore Hawks who threw off old perceptions that the team did not have what it took to get over the hump and managed to throttle the Sabercats into submission with stellar offensive and defensive play in the final game. The Hawks QB and assorted cast did not want to leave the field all game as they put up 13 more minutes of possession and carved their way up and down the field. Eventually they had to leave the field, but not before taking the Ultimus with them. What a crazy finale to the NSFL's 15th season. 207 words. 3) All about the QBs Written: Write 200 words on one of the QB matchups in this year's playoffs. What are you most excited to see (Or excited to have seen), who will play better (Or who played better), etc. Graphic: Create a graphic on a QB matchup, (Pictures with side-by-side statistics). I know this is supposed to be about one of the QB matchups in the NSFL playoffs, but damn you know what? Childish Gambino deserves to have just 200 words written about this performance he put on - mostly in the Ultimus finals, but also in the caliber of a regular season performance he put on for Baltimore Hawks fans and the conference championships where he outplayed Falconi and brought the Hawks to the Ultimus finals. In the finals, there was nothing Childish about the way he simply dominated the Sabercats with 5 touchdowns and absolutely no interceptions, not to mention some rushing action to boot. With the conference championships included, that brings his total TDs to 8 and his playoff interceptions to a single lonely mistake on an otherwise blightless resume. And the regular season can not be forgotten either - 45 TDs and 9 interceptions is the best ratio of TD to interception with 40+ TDs ever. Ever. In the league's history. He did not only just take the Top Performance honour home once in the regular season, and not even just twice, but five times. Even the sim knows how dominant Gambino was. And that must be incredibly satisfying, almost as satisfying as getting to take the Ultimus home in true champion fashion. 214 words. 5) Spotlight on Youth Written: Write 200 words on one of the players in this year's Ultimus Week that are Season 13 or newer and spotlight on how they can affect or did affect this year's Ultimus. (NSFL Only) Graphics: Create a graphic of a Season 13 or newer player with a statistical breakdown on their season. There's a couple S15 players who played a fairly big role on the Ultimus winning Baltimore Hawks who I thought it would be nice to put the spotlight onto. First is Faith Terim, who actually led the Hawks in tackles in the Ulimus final. Considering the score, 49 - 0, its a more substantial achievement than at first glance. Given the potential Terim has on this beast of a Hawks squad, I expect good things in the future for him on this talented roster. The other Hawk who was S15 is Walt Green, another safety. The Hawks actually only had 2 safeties as S15 picks from the big draft class make the team this season, but considering both are over 400 TPE and played on their Ultimus squad it looks like perfect call ups from this angle. And while Green did not lead the Hawks in tackles like Faith Terim, he did have a big play in the fourth quarter when, with 8 minutes remaining, he snagged a ball knocked loss on the first play of a new Saber Cats drive, immediately returning possession to the Hawks who were, after this play, absoluting running away with it. And with 3 tackles to add to it, and a big fumble recovery, I don't know if there was a more impactful S15 player. 215 words 7) Next year Written: If your team has been eliminated, why will next year, or the year after that, be the year that your team is going to win the Ultimus or Ultimini. Graphics: Create a statistical summary of what improvements your team has made from the previous year or why your team was better than their record. Almost went with the Our Time option here, before reading more carefully and realizing, no that's only for this year. But man the Arizona Outlaws are trending up. Look at the talent Swag has surrounded this team with, not only in S15 but in the years prior and what he's shown he's capable of doing now with the most recent free agent signing with Moose coming home. This team is on the up, with arguably the brightest future I have ever seen for it - which is saying something since my last Morris, Darren Morris Free Safety, played mostly his entire career here from S5 all the way through S13 when he was traded to the Hawks for a single lonely season not in the desert. But now, there are S15 rookies who are tearing up the gym all hours of every night, with guys like Brock Landers absolutely shredding it as WR and making the All Pro team in his rookie season. Lamont McKinnie tearing it up at safety. Lucas Knight, Jammerson Irving. All of these S15 rookies are at or almost at 400 TPE and rising quickly. At this next update Gucci's Brock Landers is getting closer to breaking 500 than 400. And its just getting better. Mixed with the vets who have been on the team, and former Outlaws who are looking to make a triumphant return and put us over the top, I don't think S15 will surprise anyone looking back. It was the start of a long run of bringing back championship football to the desert. 260 words. (S15) - Ultimus Week - iseedoug - 06-20-2019 Spotlight on Youth Written: Write 200 words on one of the players in this year's Ultimus Week that are Season 13 or newer and spotlight on how they can affect or did affect this year's Ultimus. (NSFL Only) The Baltimore Hawks not only won the Ultimus this year, they shut out the Sabercats offense, with a final score of 49 to 0. This shut out could not have happened without the best rookie duo in the game, SS Fatih Terim and FS Walt Green. Fatih Terim finish the Ultimus with 7 tackles and a key Forced Fumble and Walt Green had 3 tackles with the Fumble Recovery of Fatih’s FF. Walt Green finished the regular season with 59 tackles, 3 sacks, 2 interceptions, 4 pass deflections, and 1 FF/FR. Similarly, Fatih Terim finished the regular season 47 tackles, 7 sacks, 2 interceptions, 3 pass deflections, and 1 FF. That is right double digit sacks from the duo from the secondary! And they are just getting started. What is even more surprising, is that both rookies had insane single game performances. In Week 6, Walt Green had this stat line: 7 Tck, 1 Int, 1 Def TD, 1 FR. In Week 7, Fatih Terim had this stat line: 4 Tck, 2 Sck, 1 Int. Both rookies have progressed at the same pace, with slightly over 400 TPE a piece, and continuing to be active members of the championship locker room. If they can keep this pace up and stay together, they could be the best safety duo ever. (S15) - Ultimus Week - Rise of Smitty - 06-20-2019 1. http://probaseballexperience.jcink.net/ind...indpost&p=85210 (S15) - Ultimus Week - Baron1898 - 06-20-2019 7) Next year Don’t want to be too overconfident, but the Yellowknife Wraiths have a great shot at becoming contenders next season. The Wraiths were in the playoff hunt for a good majority of the regular season, but stand to take the final jump in season 16. Cooter Bigsby is continuing to grow and improve as a quarterback, leading the team through the air. Star pickup Jerrod Canton and second year player Morgan Marshall are a two headed monster on the ground, helping to keep the play moving along and confuse defenses. Speaking of defense, we’ve got something of a running back himself in Ryan Leaf Jr., anchoring the defensive line alongside fellow S15 rookie Nero Alexander. The Wraiths just picked up defensive superstar Danny Grithead during free agency, bringing in more key pieces with which to build a championship core. The Wraiths were one of the teams least affected by the league’s recent expansion draft, and with regular contenders like the Baltimore Hawks and Philadelphia Liberty weakened, the conference is ripe for the taking for the spooky Canadians up north. The Yellowknife Wraiths are young, they are motivated, and they are ready to take the next step forward towards claiming another franchise Ultimus Trophy. 9) Enemies One of my personal enemies in the NSFL, who actually won an Ultimus this year (so not Cooter or Dermot), is Walt Green of the Baltimore Hawks. Yes, Green is gonna be a bum in short order, you heard it here first folks. For starters, Walt Green cheats at Candyland and steals literal candy from literal babies. What kind of monster does that? A monster from Idaho, that’s who. Legend says Idahoans are made out of evil potatoes, and Walt Green deserves to be beaten, mashed, and stuck in a stew, as Samwiss Gamgee once put it. One might say that I shouldn’t attack another member of the Fabulous Five like this, but honestly, it’s really not fair that Walt gets to go win an Ultimus while Quenton’s stuck in New Orleans and Berry’s stuck in an even bigger dumpster fire and me and Alexander are stuck in Yellowknife, in the freezing bitter cold of the middle of nowhere, trying to enjoy Leaf’s company and put up with Cooter’s awful quarterbacking skills, why did you leave us Walt, we should’ve all just stayed in San Antonio forever, it’s not the same without you all on the same team, sorry for all those mean words I just said. 10) Rivalries Obviously I am still salty about the collapse of Marshal Law in the first round of the postseason last year, so the team I despise the most is the Tijuana Luchadores. These scrubs didn’t even win the Ultimini this season despite their biggest divisional rival losing literally all of its best players and the other team being the relocated Chicago Blues with an imaginary mascot. Not only did this happen, the Luchadores let these made up animals win the trophy! The Tijuana Loserdores are led by... someone at QB, I am not kidding, I really do not know who, is it Havran? If it’s Havran, they are led by a QB who couldn’t even get drafted in front of Cooter Bigsby, the legendary scrub. At running back, Forrest Gump continues to endure a very overplayed movie reference and gravitationally attract every rushing touchdown possible. The... actually I don’t know any other Luchadores players. Only reason I really hate them is because of last year’s conference matchup, I don’t even hate Gump and I don’t even know Havran and obviously I don’t remember any of the other players. But Tijuana ruined my first postseason, and for that I will never forgive them. 17) Robbed The Yellowknife Wraiths were indisputably and maliciously robbed of a playoff berth by the NSFL mafioso. As one of two teams the whole season to beat the Ultimus-winning Baltimore Hawks, you’d think the Wraiths would be on the fast track towards success in the postseason. But this would not be the case. The Yellowknife Wraiths only finished 7-7, first place in the Jeff Fisher Memorial Award but short of a winning record and behind both the Baltimore Hawks and the Philadelphia Liberty. The answer to this conundrum is the conniving Baltimore Hawks. The performances of our three headed running back monster and our glorious leader/quarterback were maliciously destroyed by secret agents under the alias Walt Green. The Wraiths somehow only landed at .500 despite stellar play on offense and defense, meaning that unless our special teams were just absolutely atrocious (they weren’t) some foul play is to be suspected here. I smell a rat, and the rat smells like a hawk from Maryland. Hopefully next year, as Yellowknife truly begins its second golden age, the Head Office will crack down on these Baltimore rascals and the Wraiths can be unleashed to go 13-0 as they definitely will do. (S15) - Ultimus Week - Duress - 06-20-2019 Playoff Review This year the Palm Beach Solar Bears managed to win the DSFL Championship, taking home the Ultimini for the first time in a long time, and also the first time with real players, not bots. The game was played in Palm Beach against the reigning champions, the Portland Pythons. The game was dominated from start to finish by the Solar Bears, as they took an early lead in the first quarter after a long drive ended in a short field goal for Roderick Castleberry. They then added on a Mako Mendonca rushing TD after a long pass from Easton Cole to Chase Jensen set the team up in the red zone. The Pythons continued to struggle to start the second, as the Solar Bears again drove down the field and Ludicolo Bigby punched the ball in from 1 yard out. The pythons then got on the board with a lovely Rkansaw NA rushing TD, but Palm Beach answered back with a long FG drive to close out the first half. The third quarter saw a defensive surge from both teams, with a 32-yard Norwood field goal for the Pythons being the only points scored. The pythons managed to close the gap again in the fourth after a record-breaking 98-yard run by Sam Torrenson lead to their second TD of the game. They couldn’t keep the momentum, however, as the Solar Bears closed out the game with two more touchdowns in the closing minutes. All about the QBs Easton Cole was picked very early in last year’s DSFL draft. A lot of people figured he would be. He looked like a surefire prospect with a ton of upside. What a lot of people didn’t expect was that he would be taking his talents to Miami to play with the Palm Beach Solar Bears. The Solar Bears already had a QB. His name was Apollo Lange, and he was a serviceable QB for the Solar Bears last season. He probably would have been good enough to lead the team to a playoff berth, which was about the upper limit of what was expected of the team this past season. But they drafted his successor anyway, and it turned out to be the best decision the team has made. Easton wasn’t spectacular by any means in the playoffs, but his play lead the team to a championship. In the SFC championship game against Tijuana, he only threw 15 times for 60 yards. This didn’t matter, however, because his opponent threw 40 times and threw 5 interceptions. I’d rather have a QB who is consistent and doesn’t make large mistakes than one who shoots for the moon. Then, in the championship game, Easton again played well enough to win. He again had a better rating than the opposing QB; this time because he threw for over twice the yards and completed close to 50% of his passes. Unsung Hero The unsung hero of this year’s DSFL championship was without a doubt Mako Mendonca. Mako had an incredible game, and some might say that he has been appropriately recognized, but I beg to differ. Mako rushed 12 times for 77 yards, an impressive 6.4 yards per carry. He also rushed for two touchdowns. This is a super impressive performance for a young back who only joined the team partway through the year. Mako was a force in the rushing game, along with the other backs in Palm Beach’s stable, as the top three all ran for over 6 yards per carry. That is incredible. Generally, backs average around 4 yards per carry but the Solar Bears ran for 1.5x that number. And considering that Easton Cole, despite having a solid game at QB threw two interceptions to zero touchdowns, was the main other source of offense, the running game HAD to be good, or the Solar Bears would not have won. And Mendonca provided that great running game, along with giving time for Ludicolo Bigby to rest and not have to carry the team on his back like Sam Torrenson of the Pythons tried to do just across on the other sideline. Expansion Team Next year, I will be making my NSFL debut as a member of the Chicago Butchers. Already, I’m super excited to have the ability to play for a new team and create a new legacy as far as the history of the Butchers is concerned. I’ll always be the third ever pick for the team, and I want to be able to live up to any expectations that might be had of me during my career. Luckily, the expansion teams will not have super high expectations coming right out of the gate. There are a lot of young players on both of the teams, and it will take a little time for the teams to compete for championships, but I think it will be done sooner than many people think. Hell, the Solar Bears just won the DSFL championship two years after being revived from the ashes. I think that the Butchers can do the same. Overall, the roster is looking solid. There are obviously still positions that need to be filled, but I think that some of these will be done in the upcoming draft where we have the first overall pick. The rest will hopefully be done soon too, and I can’t wait to see what the first ever season of Butchers football looks like. Hopefully it’s the start of something great! (S15) - Ultimus Week - ScorpXCracker - 06-21-2019 Robbed: The Norfolk Seawolves were absolutely robbed of playoffs this year in the DSFL. The Seawolves were ended up only one game away from making the playoffs. In the end, it all came to the week 13 matchup between the Portland Pythons and the Kansas City Coyotes. As much as I hated the Portland Pythons, we needed them to beat the Coyotes so that we could move up. The Pythons played great all year, so of course, right when we really need them to get a W, they lose by 2 points. To add insult to injury, the Pythons shut the Coyotes out in the playoffs. To explain why this was so horrible, the Coyotes scored 27 points in Week 13, while they scored zero points in the post season! A twenty seven point difference. And, it would be a simple explanation if the Pythons were in Kansas City, but nope, they were not. Both games were held in Portland. I kind of think that Portland tanked in week 13, just so that we could not make it into the playoffs. I would not put it past them. They knew we could have beat them in the playoffs. They could not handle our defense. Interview with a star: I interviewed @Sweetwater 1. Yellowknife just barely missed the playoffs this year, do you believe they have it in them to make a larger playoff push next year? Absolutley, YKW is a young team on the rise, and have one of the highest numbers of active members in the league. Add to this the biggest free agent signing and Danny Grithead, 2 HO members, the current simmer, and the former simmer, the newest commentary team member, and a handful of other great guys, and you can only succeed. Plus, 4 of 5 teams in the conference make the playoffs next season. So, it's more likely to make the playoffs than not. 2. What are your thoughts on the current expansion that the NSFL is going through, and do you think that it will last? Not gonna lie. I have been against it for a while. I think it was hastily decided upon and a kneejerk reaction to a large number of new members, a large number of which have already gone inactive. Barring another huge recruitment form r/NFL in the fall, I don't see the expansion lasting much more than a few seasons. Without another large recruitment class, I see contraction looming on the horizon. While I have voiced my dissent to the decision to the HO and GMs, I don't technically get a vote. Nonetheless, I will continue my duty as simmer and will support them in whatever happens to the league 3. Do you believe yourself to be one of the top running backs in the league right now? Looking strictly at the numbers and possibilities, if you put me as the lead/sole RB of a team in a run first offence, I will put up HOF numbers. However, my ability comes from my adaptability. I am willing to play wherever my team needs me. I am not looking for individual accolades with this player, just team success. I will most likely be changing archetypes to help my team out in a more versatile offence. As a player who accounted for about 2/3rds of my team's TDs, I would say I am one of the top RBs in the league right now. On top of all of that, I am the simmer. I get guaranteed TPE, and know which stats seem to impact performance the most. But above everything else, I would say my willingness to give up glory to better my team is one of the best intangibles in the league at my position. 4. You already won yourself a championship, do you see yourself being content with that, or are you looking for more? Listen. One of the best moments in the league is winning championships. It was amazing to bring SJS their, and my, first. I more than look forward to winning more. There's a reason I took a minimum contract in FA but based my entire decision on a team's overall pitch for the future. I want to win, and I want to help my teammates win. I joined this league to win, I joined my current team to win, I will join future teams to win. Next Year: I believe that the Norfolk Seawolves are very much capable of winning the Ultimini next year. Our biggest weakness was our offense this year, and even on there we had a couple of stars. Our offesne stalled mostly because of our passing game. Jay Longshaw was not playing very good, and so it was hard to rely on him to move the ball downfield. Our wide receiver core was great, with Ahri, Mudley, and Speedy. Longshaw should be able to produce big time next year with those weapons. But, he was not able to produce this year, so we had to rely on Dorfus Jimbo. Dorfus was our only rb, so he obviously had a hefty task of pretty much carrying the offense. Dorfus put up great stats, but he just was not good enough to be an offense. So, next year it would be great if Longshaw could play better. If he does, our offense would be pretty much unstoppable with the dual threat going. OUr defense was great this year, and it will be really nice to see them develop even more into an even better squad. If both sides of the ball click, I do not see how another team in the DSFL could stop the Norfolk Seawolves. We have a great shot at winning the Ultimini next year. Spotlight on the Youth: For this one, I am putting the spotlight on Richard D'Attoria V, but for all the wrong reasons. The description did not say that this one had to be positive about the youth. RDA5, is just a bad football player. He does not add anything to the Philadelpha Liberty, and in fact he makes them worse, a lot worse in fact. Who knows, maybe if the Liberty pick someone besides RDA5, they might have been able to overcome the mighty hawks. Also, @124715 is just a bad locker room prescense. Now, I have never actually been in a locker room with him, but I have been in multiple discords with him, and I can say that he makes them all ten times worse just because he is in them and ruining them. I do not see how a football team can focus on football when you have someone so negative in the locker room causing so much commotion and just taking your focus on non important things. RDA5 was just a waste of a draft pick, honestly, he should be considered the biggest bust of the season fifteen draft. What a waste, @BWIII, you could have had a real game changer, like Gimmy, on your team, and it really could have changed your entire season. But instead, you had to waste it on some garabge football player. (S15) - Ultimus Week - JM62 - 06-21-2019 ) robbed- Tijuana had shown a dominant behavior towards the polar bears all regular season and it was to be no different in Mondays playoff game. The polar bears had a surprising secondary performance and forced many turnovers that were very critical to their success. Tijuana knew they had this game in the bag and everyone in the TIJ locker room were very hyped up. It happened very quickly and took TIJ by surprise, if TIJ were to have a rematch in the same circumstances i'd have to bet TIJ would win. One of the most successful factors of Tijuanas success is the all human offensive line, it allows for great protection and tonnes of time for the QB to throw or tonnes of room for the RB to run, Monday was an oddity in my opinion as their secondary were just having a great day that wont happen again because TIJ is a much better team and with time the strategy to combat the polar bears strategies I believe TIJ can and will win every single matchup against the polar bears in the future, most Defidently the playoffs for sure. In conclusion I feel Tijuana has been robbed by a team that should not have won that day, I also believe it wont happen again. Our time- Next year is Tijuanas time! I believe with an all human offensive line and weapons forming and already formed at skilled positions its going to be very hard for tijuana not to win the championship at the dsfl level next season. Tijuana is keeping most of the Human Offensive line for next season and is expecting a strong offensive performance from each one of them. TIJ led the league year in the regular season for both offense and defense, and is expecting to do it again. With all of this it is hard to think that TIJ wont win it all. The hopes are high in Tijuana for this next season and im Defidently excited for how they handle the loss strategically next time. My confidence is with the luchadores only this next season. I personally think very few defenses will be able to stop forest gumps running bacl performance behind those intimidating O linemen, plus there might be some hidden weapons in the passing game as well, will TIJ win their 6th championship, will they destroy all other dsfl teams getting there? Only time will tell and im confident they can do it. |
