(S19) - PT1 - A Fresh Start - Rublic - 12-08-2019 SHL PT (S19) - PT1 - A Fresh Start - Acsolap - 12-08-2019 For Thor Kirkby everything was more or less a fresh start. He was a new face to the league in general and had no family history when it came to the NSFL. He did however have a couple of connections through his fathers hockey buds. Silver Banana and Darnell Johnson (pretty sure this is an alias or a stolen name) where friends of Thor's so they spent the off season getting ready for the draft and making sure they were in top shape so that they could crack the starting line ups as soon as possible. His dad's friend Peter Larson who plays for the Copperheads helped out with the training and gave them all a few pointers to maximise their chances of success. When the draft day arrived Kirkby was lucky enough to get drafted along with Silver Banana to the newly rebranded Minnesota Grey Ducks which also happened to be Larson's old DSFL team. Darnell however ended up on the Portland Pythons so the dream of the trio playing alongside each other may have to wait until the NSFL. Preseason was more or less a blur of meeting coaches, new teammates and sorting out a place to live as it was Thor's first time living outside of Florida. But with fresh beginnings come fresh opportunities and he was looking forward to his new life in the NSFL. (S19) - PT1 - A Fresh Start - casserole - 12-08-2019 The day I got drafted by Minnesota I immediately hopped on a plane to go meet up with my new teammates. We did what every football team loves to do.. EAT. What a meal that was. It was the best steak I have ever had in my life. After going out to eat with everyone we all turned in early to get ready for our first day of training. I could barely sleep I was so excited. I spent that night and many others face-timing my brothers Tanner and Trey. They were so excited for me and we already planned a weekend for them to come visit and see what Minnesota is all about. Training went really well and I felt like our team really became a family. We had a lot of team bonding activities scheduled but my favorite was the ropes course. Nothing gains trust like climbing a huge wooden post, standing on a two foot long board and jumping off of it to grab a bar with one of your teammates. We also had plenty of game nights and of course lots of meals together. Towards the end of the off season my brothers came to visit! I showed them around town and took them to the best restaurants. We played some ball just like the old days and they even got to watch one of our practices. Having them around helped me get out of my comfort zone and open up to everyone on my team. It was the best way to end the off season. (S19) - PT1 - A Fresh Start - moonlight - 12-08-2019 The Orange County Otters are heading into this season as the two time defending champions. The competition continues to get stiffer and stiffer every season. This season the New Orleans Secondline are poised to emerge as legitimate playoff contenders and the Austin Copperheads continue to build on their success of last season. In the NFCS the Yet are shockingly emerging as legitimate contenders and challengers to the Yellowknfe Wraiths. The balance of power is shifting but in some ways it continues to stay the same. The Orange County Otters believe they are still the top team in the NSFL. This offseason they are determined to match the original Orange County Otters and gain the distinction of being the only franchise to Threepeat twice. For Franklin Armstrong going into his 3rd season he is determined to continue to develop. He still has many things to work on, including his strength, endurance and agility which he plans to work hard on this offseason. These attributes will help him become a better runner out of the backfield. Running is an important aspect of his game and he has used it to great effect in his first two seasons in the NSFL. All Armstrong has known is winning in his young career as a professional QB. He hopes to continue winning. The Wraiths really needed a bit of a system reset in order to help them get past last season mentally. They decided to go out there in training camp and preseason this year with the coach walking onto the field in front of everyone and held up a football and said "This is the most important thing on this team". They made a commitment that they were going to focus on protecting the football and generating turnovers in order to win games in season 19. They weren't looking to be flashy or impressive they just wanted to get out there and play turnover free football and not commit stupid penalties. The problem is that the plan hasn't really worked out all that well so far yet given that they are one of the worst teams in turnover differential in the league right now and it isn't particularly close. The Wraiths need to continue to focus on protecting their possession time and stealing possessions away from their opponents if they are going on another deep playoff run this season. (S19) - PT1 - A Fresh Start - White Cornerback - 12-08-2019 Written Option: A new season means renewed optimism for everyone! Write about how you and your teammates spent the offseason forgetting last season and preparing for the new one. It can be a training regimen, studying, team-bonding, what they did over the holiday, etc. Austin by the look of it spent literally no time together at all considering they've gotten off to an absymal 0-3 start. Taking a complete step backwards from all the great progress they made during last seasons stint in the NSFL, making the playoffs of course. This year it looks like Austin had no training regimen, zero study, no team bonding or any source of interaction between teammates during the offseason. It looks like really, nothing was done to improve on the season before, as a result the team is much worse with departures. Whether or not the lack of chemistry is caused by the departing RB Ashley Owens, it well looks like that this could be the case. There looks asif any amount of optimism that Austin had to turn around their season this year, hinges on the performances from week 4 & 5. After all, starting the season 1-4 or even worse 0-5 often means that you're effectively eliminated from the playoffs before even the midway point of the season. Austin needs to have a quick fight back this season and ideally they head out of the week 5 games with a majorly improved 2-3 record. Anything other than this and it easily could be game over for another season for them. (S19) - PT1 - A Fresh Start - ScorpXCracker - 12-08-2019 pbe pt (S19) - PT1 - A Fresh Start - ven_knight - 12-09-2019 Last season ended with a bittersweet defeat for the Outlaws in the ASFC championship against the Otters, who then went and won another Ultimus. So with this performance in mind, offseason has been about one goal: what can change in the case of team strategy as well as individual capabilities that would allow Arizona to get in another Ultimus game. First step for cornerback Lucas Knight was to undergo a tough offseason training; this included a study of last season film for two weeks, to identify what should be improved in terms of technique and communication within the defensive backs. Then it came the afternoon sessions in the stadium going through several defensive back drills; this time he asked his teammates WRs Oles, Donut and Landers for some help to do some of the drills and conditioning together and get better as a group. There was also one or two practices with fellow cornerback Montgomery and safeties McKinnie and Barnes, which allowed the DBs to continue to refine communication and distribution of roles. As for the entire team maintaining its chemistry, there was one small party in QB Reese house just a few days after the end of the season; it was a good time to shake off some tension gained from the season results and to celebrate all the awards that some of the players got, as well as think about how things will look better for season 19. (S19) - PT1 - A Fresh Start - AlexF - 12-09-2019 This offseason was a very fun one for Blake Faux. After getting traded from Chicago to Austin and then from Austin to New Orleans in the span of about a week it definitely took him a long time to settle in. So much so that he refused to move to New Orleans until his first season with the team ended. Even after signing a 3 year extension with the team with a select no trade clause, he continued to expect to be traded as the season wore on. Luckily New Orleans has seemed to commit to Faux, and he has done the same by buying a house just outside the city. So now Faux feels like New Orleans is his home, and not just his place of occupation. Unfortunately the first few games haven't gone so well for him, but as a defensive lineman his presence is felt on the field more than it is on the stat sheet. Another big reason Faux had a fun offseason was his friend Mack Arianlacher joining New Orleans via the draft. It was an unlikely pairing at first, but Arianlacher approached Faux before he joined the DSFL and asked for advice, which Faux gave freely. Now they're good friends and expect to play on the same team with each other for a very long time to come. (S19) - PT1 - A Fresh Start - Sermokala - 12-09-2019 Unlike a lot of his peers Fabricio Baldari, of the Baltimore, Maryland, the United States of America, Hawks, Went way off the grid for his offseason. WAY WAY off the grid. Too far off the grid really as he was the subject of a memo handed out to all United states parks rangers, such was his sightings reported on. Going on a trip of the natural sights and sound with no money spent and only the stars to keep you company at night. After a long season filled with disipointment and struggled Fabricio found himself with a lot of pressure on his shoulders and was starting to lose focus. After a few weeks in the forests, he really started to enjoy himself. Unfortunately one of the major side effects was that he was almost uncontactable and forgot to check in with his team. Being out in nature the whole time he was in prime preditor shape but lost most of his social skills. He found a newspaper about the date and panicked trying to get on a plane to the game in time. However, due to his hibernation instincts, he was very tired and repeatedly got on the wrong plane, with the stewardesses and flight attendants too afraid of his size to really tell him his mistake before it was too late. |
