(S21) - PT4 - Ultimus Dreamin’ - furiousPanda - 04-02-2020 My team the mighty Dallas Birddogs are in the playoff hunt. As an expansion team, no one thought we could be doing so well or even compete for the Ultimini. The task isn't going to be easy as we need to win every game from here on out. A 7-7 record gets them in the playoffs. But as the season grows older the TPE advantage becomes less of an issue. With a high percentage of earners the Birddogs could sneak in the playoffs and take the championship. The Birrdog's best unit is it's defense, it's fierce, mean and one of the better whole units in the DSFL. A lot of high earners anchored by Stanis?aw Koniecpolski, a monster of a linebacker who is supported by the big boys up front Big Edd and Forty Jones. They hold up even against the best teams. As soon as the offense improves the team would be great overall. Lastly, the offense is improving as well. It is lead by Monty Jack, White Goodman and Jeffery Philips. All high earners and are showing a lot of life as of late. They are catching up to the defense and once everything gets put together the Birddogs become a legit Ultimini contender. The DSFL has to watch out for this expansion team. Code: 218 words (S21) - PT4 - Ultimus Dreamin’ - MrStennett - 04-02-2020 Wow, this PT hits a little close to home. I'm not going to go into the entire back story of what has happened with the Chicago Butchers the last few seasons, as I'm quite sure everybody in the league knows most of it by heart at this point. Obviously, we aren't in contention for the playoffs this season and it will surprise no one to learn that we won't be in contention for some time. Luckily, we have exactly the two GMs I feel we need to get this turn around under way. They know as well as I do that draft capital is the most important thing for this team, but unfortunately, prior team management shipped most of that off, at least for the next couple of seasons. That means putting together a rebuild is going to be challenging, to say the least. We're going to have to find value in some later rounds of the draft, which is not always the easiest thing to do. I have faith in our new team leaders that they'll be able to do just that however. I know having spoken to them at length about just this subject, that they certainly feel they have the skills and the ability to make Chicago a league champion, and I for one agree. Code: 218 words (S21) - PT4 - Ultimus Dreamin’ - QuirkyTurtle - 04-02-2020 The Kansas City Coyotes have been nothing short of dominant this season and on top of being the #1 seed for playoffs as it stands, they’re also on pace to break the teams regular season record. At 9-3 with 2 games left and on a 4 game win streak, the Coyotes could win out the rest of the season so finish 11-3 and secure home field advantage for the Ultimini. They’ve already secured home field advantage for the divisional playoff game as they currently sit 3 wins ahead of the Portland Pythons who are in 2nd for the division. Winning the divisional game against Portland wont be easy as they are the only team to defeat KC this season besides Myrtle Beach, and they also possess a very strong secondary to counter act KC’s strong passing game. But I believe that playing at home will give KC a very solid chance to win as not only is their offense powerful in the air and on the ground but their defence is the most well rounded and arguably the best in the league right now. Moving to the Ultimini, I expect it to be KC v MB. A very tough opponent as MB have managed to beat KC in both their games, but KC have been rising steadily in TPE and with HFA, I expect a strong performance from the #YeetSquad and dominant defence to limit MBs star RB Dax Frost. KC will be bringing home the win this season. The main focus for the team was to field a competitive team. Despite their record, currently at 4-8, the Royals were competitive in nearly every game. In six of their eight losses, the Royals lost by two scores or less. Adjustments to defensive schemes and moving positional players proved to be effective as the team was much more efficient on defense The Royals also touted the #2 total offense and #1 rushing offense in their conference. Although there were positives to the season, there's a lot of room for improvement. The two areas for most improvement would be turnovers and special teams. The Royals struggled mightily on special teams and were never able to correct the problems. On the offensive side, the Royals need to add more weapons in the receiving corp. The Royals had only one receiver with over 300 yards receiving and a league low of 5 total receiving touchdowns. Adding some receivers would help balance the offense and keep opposing defenses honest. The Royals should have a good foundation for the coming seasons addressing these issues may turn the Royals into Ultimini contenders next season. 206 words (S21) - PT4 - Ultimus Dreamin’ - Sylphreni - 04-02-2020 The road to the Ultimini for the Tijuana Luchadores at this point is an uphill battle to be certain, but like a masterfully crafted diamond, in pressure we find excellence. Dropping two games the past two weeks, one to Seawolves and one to the Pythons is certainly less then ideal, but an offensive juggernaut such as Tijuana always has a chance to bounce back. Many might look at the upcoming matchups against the current Divisional leading Coyotes and Buccaneers and count us out, but with an aggressive defensive gameplan from GM Jay Doctor, combined with a blistering pace set on the offensive side of the ball, Tijuana has a real chance to get out in front early both games and run the score up. Look for big contributions from Ben Slothisburger, Thomas Passman, and Richard Gilbert. The defensive side of the ball has been a real thorn in Tiajuana's side all season. They currently rank last in the division in yards allowed, and will need to stand up to the challenge over the next two weeks to make it into the playoffs. Over the last two weeks however, the team has seen a spark of hope in the secondary; freshly picked up off waivers, formerly unknown Safety Greedy Sly came in Week 11, and made his presence known almost immediately, leading the team in tackles. He followed that performance up the following week, with a pick six that brought the game against the Seawolves back into a one score contest, giving the Luchadores a last second chance. For Tijuana to push into the playoffs, a blistering pace on Offense, combined with big defensive plays, may be just the formula to push the team over the edge! (S21) - PT4 - Ultimus Dreamin’ - HalfEatenOnionBagel - 04-02-2020 Well being on Chicago it's no surprise we are quite a ways from being in contention for an Ultimus. We aren't in the playoffs this season, we have very few draft picks because of trades the team has made recently and needing to acquire our new GMs, and on top of all that we are in a rough spot cap wise. We're about in as tight of a spot as you can get right now. It's going to take a while to do out of this hole even if we get some good breaks and savvy moves soon. But there is one thing that we still have and that is hope. Hope that our new GMs can turn this around and that the team is still worth fighting for. The guys that we will still have around are committed to the team and we have some nice young guys to build around. Despite the stigma that surrounds the team, it seems like there are quite a few rookies that would still be excited about coming in to help us build this team back up. With the franchise still being relatively young, there's a lot of room to come in and be a Chicago legend. We have no money, we have no guaranteed success in the near future. But we're still standing on solid ground and the GMs we have now I believe will build a positive culture to play in. There's still some light at the end of the tunnel even if it's very very dim. I could also just be going insane (S21) - PT4 - Ultimus Dreamin’ - morsy - 04-02-2020 As you probably know as a person who cares about football, I play for the Minnesota Grey Ducks in the DSFL who aren't in the best position to reach the playoffs this season. We need to win our last two games and also have to rely on the Pythons losing theirs. So while our fate is not entirely in our hands we need to do our part, work hard and get those Ws. So obviously we‘ll win the Ultimini once we reach the playoffs. Not only as it would have been an immense showing of team spirit that will pave our way after reaching the playoffs, given the current situation we‘re in, it also shows that the team got better and better over the course of the season, finishing with four wins in a row. I mean, who can stop a team that‘s on such a winning streak? Besides that, we‘re also a very talented bunch on a team with a history of winning. We have the best running backs in the entire league, the best receiving corps, the best defense (not stats wise, but those are for nerds anyway)… I really don‘t know why we‘re in such a tough spot to begin with. So yeah, my totally unbiased advice for anyone who want to bet on the Ultimini winner is to pick us. The odds are against us, so the payday will be even sweeter, once the trophy is ours! (S21) - PT4 - Ultimus Dreamin’ - Skyline - 04-02-2020 The London Royals had a rough season, and are not likely to be in contention for the Ultimini, or to be frank even make the playoffs. However, whether they make the playoffs or not, the Lions should justifiably call this season a success considering that they are a brand new expansion franchise and the primary goal was to develop a positive culture and cultivate young talent. Assuming that most of the players currently on the roster spend another season in the DSFL, the Royals will have a number of maxed out TPE players including offensive cornerstones Quarter Back Colby Jack and Running Back Acura Skyline and defensive anchors Linebacker Derred de Ville and Safety Quinn Hughes. The hope is that next year the strong and seasoned roster can ride quality individual performances into team success, and I think this is pretty likely. The Royals will undoubtedly be a top twenty five percent team next season, and will make a run for the Ultimini. Acura Skyline at least will certainly be gunning for his second rushing title, and will do whatever he can to put the entire team roster on his back and just blast through every single defender on his way to every end zone he is faced with. Skyline had one 74 yard touchdown this season. Next season, calling his shot, he will have one every game. |
