Lawrence Bass is a man of many interests. Football is his true love, but his passions include many other topics such as Dungeons and Dragons, Pokémon, and comic books. With the money he has earned from football, he has furnished his home with many new trinkets and collectibles. Notably, he was able to complete his First Edition Base Set Pokémon card collection. Another splash he made with his paychecks, was installing a theatre-style movie room in his house. While the home is otherwise rather minimalistic, Bass knew he needed to make that addition. His love for movies and sharing them with others is of great importance to him. Even though he can’t have many people over during this quarantine, he still makes daily use of the big screen to watch all manner of things; Marvel films, Godzilla, a smattering of animes, some critically acclaimed films, and much more.

Another thing Lawrence enjoys off the field is cooking. Growing up, his family was very close and regularly hosted large gatherings with home-made treats. That love of cooking for family and friends continues to this day. The kitchen in Bass’ home is one of the only other major spends he made, and it’s used every day. Once the COVID crisis is over, Bass plans to have his teammates over for a big cookout.

I get where this question is coming from with the whole world on lockdown and everything, but the good news is that the NSFL hasn't been shut down because of this virus so Blackstone's mind is still 100% on football like it is every day. But when its not Blackstone tries to be a well rounded guy. he enjoys being outside and exploring. That's one of things that he is most grateful for in his NSFL career is the opportunity to live in such an exciting place like Colorado where there is so much natural beauty and opportunities for exploration. Some days he'll just take a hammock and a book on philosophy and just walk until he gets tired. And then he'll take a quick nap while he's overlooking some lake or in the shadows of a mountain and read the day away. But apart from hobbies, Blackstone actually just bought a house! Last season he had been living with @Muford for a while after they were drafted together, but when Muford left for Chicago Blackstone had to find his own place. After living in a hotel for a little bit, he finally settled on a nice out of the way cabin and has been working to update it with all the luxurious trappings a NSFL lifestyle can afford.

(S22) - PT2 - Lazy Days - Big Edd - 05-06-2020

On a typical Big Edd would be training and getting ready for an upcoming football game, but this is not what the question asked. Besides playing football, believe it or not, but big edd actually likes to sew. He sews scarves and mittens apparently. He reportedly did not want anyone to know about that but oh well. Another surprising hobby that occupies most of big edd's time s legos. big edd loves to play with his legos. Whether it may be building the Eiffel tower in Paris or playing with the military lego figures, big edd always seems to have his hands full of legos. Every other day, big edd will perform his routine exercise workout. A typical big edd workout consists of many different and extravagant practices and movements. First of which is ballet, yes i said ballet. This monster of a creation, despite being 310 pounds, enjoys gracefully dancing and twirling to improve his on-field balance. Next, big edd's workouts also consist of 30 reps of fridges. Fridges as he use them as barbells first and then he consumes whatever is inside of them. Its a never before seen exercise but something that should be given a try.

Besides all these things I've listed, edds biggest hobby is most definitely sleeping. he sleeps on average for about 16 hours a day.

Outside of football, Rando Cardrissian has a keen interest in tabletop games. He'll play RPGs and board games, ranging from strategy to literal luck of the draw. Card games tend to interest him quite a bit. He's played poker for fun since childhood and for money since high school (and no, no one else has known about that until now, not even his parents...sorry, Mom and Dad). People who have played against him can't ever tell what he's up to...usually because he can't, either. Intimidation through complete random bull.

For something about as stressful without hard cash on the line, there's a little dabbling in Magic. For a game just for laughs, there's games along the vein of Apples to Apples, mostly Cards Against Humanity and variations therein. He's also used a CAH deck to go on speed dating sites, say whatever's on the card, and watch reactions for fun. He would record them and put them on YouTube, except a coach at Virginia Tech shot down that idea fast and because YouTube still doesn't know what they want to be. In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand and Thirty-Seven, is YouTube family friendly or a free-for-all?

And for times where those options are not available, there's always a super-chill video game now and then. Online competitive servers are not his thing. The thrill of stakes is saved strictly for poker.

So today I would like to take the time to talk about some of the charities I have become involved in since I’ve joined the NSFL. First there’s the Wildlife Conservation Society or WCS. The WCS mission is to save wildlife and wild places worldwide through science, conservation action, education, and inspiring people to value nature My favorite part about this charity is it’s legacy and overall effectiveness. The WCS was founded in New York in 1895 and has since then taken actions to preserve over 2 million square miles of wild areas.
The other charity I wish to draw attention to today is Reach Out and Read Inc or ROR. ROR believes in giving young children a foundation for success by incorporating books into pediatric care and encouraging families to read aloud together. ROR recognizes the significance of early childhood and uses reading to encourage the development of emotional and social health. Each year their team of over 34,000 medical providers distribute more than 7.4 million new books to nearly 5 million children across the world. Next time you're at The London Library don’t be surprised if you see me reading Dr. Seuss to the next generation of Football players.

Well for fun, Jim Waters does a lot of things. But as you may have thought based on his name, he does specialize in one thing. That is any activity that has anything to do with water. Scuba diving, swimming, surfing, you name it, he is good and can excel at that particular sport. Why he did not go into a water sport and into football, is beyond me but it's fine. In his school, Jim was named Water Polo captain and led his team to the championship where he lost, unfortunately. Also, swimming can help with the muscles, and with Jim's recent troubles of trying to find a starting spot at quarterback anywhere, he tries to impress his coaches with the amount of training that he does. Other than this, when its not COVID Times, he likes hanging out with friends, playing almost anything, and sleeping during the day. He is not too much into video games, but he would beat u in a 1v1 in NSFL 23 as he loves playing sports video games. His teammates say that Waters is a cool guy and easy to talk to, making him a popular figure in the locker room. As a second-year veteran he tries to show an example for his team to follow.

As per usual I'm going to take a very liberal approach to talking about my player and also include a lot about my user. If you know me, you know I spend an inordinate amount of time on the league. On Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday afternoons I sim test for Austin. On Monday and Wednesday afternoons I sim test for Dallas. Immediately after the NSFL games are over on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays I begin entering the data from the latest rounds of games into the casino model to produce the spreads and over/under prop bets that the league is piloting. On Saturdays I've started to record a regular podcast and try to make that my only league related activity for the day but inevitably end up working on some of the larger sim studies that I'm interested in. All of this sums up to mean that I the activities that occur outside of gamedays - the preparation and other extracurriculars that go into making the league enjoyable - are my player/user's passions and hobbies. The result of them often mean I do sleep most of the days. My sleep schedule is completely out of whack - I'm writing this at 2:30am after all - because I find that I'm the most productive and insightful in the wee hours of the evening. That has become the prime block of time I can set aside to focus on some of the more introspective and technical league studies that I find so interesting. Current projects that would be "sub-hobbies" include teaching myself python to develop a scraper and automate some of the daily things I do, trying to completely shake up the defensive line meta, and learning more about sports betting than I ever intended to.

When Awkward isn't playing football and smashing foes into the ground like so much weasel hide, he enjoys hiking ankle deep in rivers. For miles and miles at a time you can find him in medium strong currented rivers just happily walking along and enjoying the scenery around him. At times he'll even go calf deep once he's sure about the river he's in. If you're curious, you'll know it's him by the singing. Awkward has a passion for rewriting aggressive rap as upbeat showtune style music, and singing it as he hikes along. There are theories that one of the reasons he's so good at getting tackles is that his leg strength is exceptional even by football standards. These hikes would seem to explain that quite a bit. No one can explain the rap showtunes, however. In fact one time some teammates who had heard about his passion (and gotten him to sing) took him to a production of Hamilton. He apparently hated it and it left everyone more confused than ever about their odd teammate. So if you ever happen to be near a river and see a man covered from head to toe and wearing a leather mask walking in the water and singing "I'm Not a Player" like he's on Broadway....well...you'll know you've spotted Awkward Sexjoke in the wild.

In his free time, Shawn likes to spend some of his free time at the basketball courts to unwind and stay active. Having played basketball since he was 8, it's been something that has been something of a routine for him which helps him relax. Having moved to Portland, Shawn has enjoyed the opportunity to get out and explore the city. While this hasn't been something that he's been able to do recently due to COVID-19, going on hikes was something that he liked to do when he had some free time. This is something that Shawn would like to do more of in the future and it ties in with his desire to travel and see more of the world once his playing days are over.

More recently, Shawn spends more time at home making use of his racing simulator which he purchased after signing his rookie contract with Honolulu. Motorsport is something that Shawn has always been interested having followed Formula 1 and MotoGP as a kid. Racing was something that he wanted to get into but given the costs it was something that he wasn't able to pursue, so the racing simulator scratches that itch and gives him another avenue to unwind when not watching game film and working out.
