Last year the ASFC Champion Arizona Outlaws and NSFC Champion Colorado Yeti battled it out for the Ultimus. As the year is coming to the midway point, both teams are still very much in the hunt. The Orange County and Yellowknife Wraiths are jostling for the top spot, while the two expansion teams, Las Vegas Legion and Philadelphia Liberty both continue to struggle. With great play by the San Jose Sabercats and Baltimore Hawks, nobody is sure who is going to make the playoffs.

For me, I see Mike Boss and Logan Noble swapping powers like in Space Jam. Noble will finish this season with a worse Touchdown to Interception ratio, while Season One MVP snub, Chris Orosz will squeak by and finish with the most Passing Yards and Touchdowns.

The Yeti and Otters will both be left out of running for the Ultimus, and we will see Arizona right back in the same spot. The Ultimus game this season will be the Baltimore Hawks versus the Arizona Outlaws in a game where the best defense in the league will go up against the best offense. In the Ultimus game, the Number One Offense won't score more than one Offensive Touchdown, and will gain most of their points through the leg of their Kicker.

There's two bold predictions. 218 words.

My bold prediction is that by the end of the year, Jack Durden will lead the NSFL in rushing.
I know that Darlane Farlane is leading the league in rushing yards and attempts right now, but I do believe if Jack had the same amount of attempts he’d be leading the league. San Jose’s offensive line is getting work done, and by having five actual humans that all update makes a big difference. I’m not disputing the fact that Baltimore offensive line is bad, but just by what Durden has been able to do, it’s impressive. Out of starting running backs in the league, he only trails Boss Tweed for highest average. Tweed averages 3.9 yards per carry, while Jack is at 3.7. Darlane Farlane is bringing a 3.4 average to the table. Farlane has 217 attempts compared to Durden’s 183, and only leads 741 rushing yards to 670. That’s 71 yards on 34 carries, or basically 2 yards a carry. If San Jose’s offensive line can keep up the pressure on defensive lines, and keep the pushes going, then Jack is going to continue doing what he does best, breaking tackles and running it down opponent’s throats. Mark my words, Jack Durden will lead the league in rushing by the end of the year.

My Bold prediction has three levels to it. I have a Basic prediction; one that I will make sure comes through. I have a Bold prediction; one that I will strive for, for the rest of the season so that it can happen. Lastly I have a Bolder Prediction; one that would be extremely hard due to outside factors but I will try for.

My Basic prediction is that I am named the best Linebacker in the NSFL for Season 2. Seriously, it's going to happen. I have been playing without having 30-50 TPE for the last 4 games. Now I've deposited all of the TPE and I'm ready to rock. I was killing it with at 273 TPE and now that I've shoot up to 312 I don't plan on stopping until I am the Unanimous Best Linebacker. I am going to elevate my play, and elevate my team!

My Bold Prediction is that I win Defensive Player of the Year. I really don't think I can't do this. If I really want to, if I keep playing at a dominant level, and if I stay true to my promise that I won't let the Outlaws lose another game I should be able to secure the Defensive Player of the Year award. Of course we have a lot of other fantastic defenders, but I want to be the best. I want to be the one holding up the Ultimus Trophy with my teammates. I'm going to work to make that happen.

Finally, my Bolder Prediction is winning the Player of the Year Award. Now, a LOT goes into this. I mean a LOT. The last two awards I spoke of I want to be voted by my peers and by the simulation software. In this award it isn't just going to be difficult to get a vote by my peers but usually Sims love to give Offensive players these awards. Hell, even the actual NFL gives that award to offensive guys. It will be extremely hard to get either way but that can't stop me from trying. I've seen my name on that list in the Sim. I am NOT going to forfeit a chance at claiming it. I can win that award; just like I can take the Arizona Outlaws ARI back to claim the Ultimus Title for Arizona!

Oh, and if you were wondering about a prediction to win the Ultimus, ... Uhhh why would I use a "prediction" on that. I guess I could add it to basic predictions but we are winning it guaranteed. I've said it again and again. We are going to claim it once again. Believe me. Believe in the Outlaws ARI.

My bold prediction for the remainder of Season 2 is that Bailey Cook leads all receivers in touchdowns. Cook was simply electric last year, breaking the 1000 receiving-yard barrier en route to a season that placed him in the upper echelon of the league's receivers. Despite that excellent resume, there was one glaring hole. Bailey only found the end zone four times, fine for a mid-tier receiver but certainly not one of his caliber. But through the first seven games of this season. He's tops in the league in touchdowns with six, riding the hottest streak of quarterback Ethan Hunt's career. While it's possible that Ethan Hunt may regress a little bit as he cools off, a trend that looks like it may already be beginning. But even with a possible regression coming, I still predict that Bailey Cook will continue to post astounding touchdown totals as the season goes on. Shane Weston has continued to develop, taking pressure off of Cook as teams are no longer to bracket him. Considering the defensive struggles of the Cats, the team will have to hope they keep winning shout-outs if they intend to make the playoffs. As a Sabercat, here's too hoping.

My very bold prediction is the San Jose Sabercats team will be able make the playoffs and probably upset Arizona in a ASFC division finals, because no matter how good your regular season record is, the playoffs is a different story to tell. San Jose still has a good chance to make a splash in this season, despite of 0-4 run. We've already proven that we have a good O-Line with 167 points for (good for the tie first with Baltimore) our quarterback Ethan Hunt is no slouch himself, like some people are saying. We have some problems to solve though - like choking in the second half. There were a couple times when we had a good lead, but couldn't capitilaze on that (or almost blowing the game like against Baltimore). The second bad thing is our defence. 190 points against is flat out worst stat in the whole league and we need to do something about that. Our guys are working hard on that, but so far the team defence is struggling. So we just need to tight up our def zone and pretty much nobody can stop us. Is that possible? Well, 6 games left so there's still a time to fix it and I think we can do that.

A bold prediction for this season will be bold only if you aren't examining things the proper way. The bold prediction from this writer is that Otters QB Mike Boss will lead the team to a surprise playoff berth and pick up the MVP award along the way. Boss has yet to devolve into the player he was last season and is putting up fairly decent numbers thus far. As the season winds on, he continues to have opportunities to show he's going to be the real deal for several years to come.

"He's played a lot better this year than we could've expected considering how last year went. We're going to stay the course and find a way to utilize his strengths and make sure we can lead this team to victory. Boss is the best QB in this league and we will only be able to go as far as he can lead us, which I think will be pretty far. He has all of the skills needed to be an elite QB in any league, never mind one filled with NFL rejects like this one. Boss is the best we have to offer and it's time we all realize that"
