RE: (S29) PT 5 - Arguements - Beck - 06-25-2021 A fight in the locker room can be expected after the type of season that we have had this year. We have a lot of players who care deeply about this team, so sometimes when the outcome goes in the way it has for us, tempers will naturally flare. Coaches have asked me to help restore the locker room, and I have done just that. Instead of taking an approach that heightened conflict and further divided the locker room, I came up with a clever idea to bring everyone together. Prior to becoming an elite athlete, I famously was over 400 pounds in college. So I know a thing or two about food. The first thing I did after being drafted by Norfolk was to try out all the local buffets within an hour of where we play. With the knowledge I gained from that, I held a players only meeting at the best buffet in Virginia. As the buffet was emptied and restocked, the morale naturally grew among our teammates. No one can stay mad on a full stomach, it’s science. At the conclusion of our trip, we were left with a buffet that had to close due to lack of food and a locker room with full hearts and stomachs. 212 words RE: (S29) PT 5 - Arguements - LeatherneckMike - 06-25-2021 PBE affiliate RE: (S29) PT 5 - Arguements - caltroit_red_flames - 06-25-2021 SHL PT RE: (S29) PT 5 - Arguements - Faelax - 06-25-2021 SHL PT Affiliate Claim RE: (S29) PT 5 - Arguements - lespoils - 06-25-2021 SHL Affiliate : https://simulationhockey.com/showthread.php?tid=117224&pid=3060793#pid3060793 RE: (S29) PT 5 - Arguements - huck24 - 06-25-2021 SHL affiliate RE: (S29) PT 5 - Arguements - MMFLEX - 06-25-2021 Damn man. I missed practice on a day there was an all out brawl and lines were drawn between our players. I feel responsible because I'm constantly playing the peacekeeper and this happened while I wasn't there. We're all competitive and I'm always needing to diffuse situations. Most of the time the squad realizes we are united and not enemies, but this was different. I met with the coaches for 2 hours to get all the details and discuss a strategy to get the squad back together. I wasn't really feeling what they had discussed in their approach to heal the locker room. I wanted to get an idea of the tension in the room myself in the first practice back since the brawl. Needless to say, it was pretty damn thick. Much of the divide was between offense and defense, but there was some intergrouping tension as well. Just then, in the middle of practice, I had an epiphany. That scene from "The Replacements" where they were all in jail after a huge fight. That was a proven tactic to unify a team. Who gives a shit if it was from a movie. I knew it would work. So as all the tough boys and girls were entering the locker room after a half-assed practice in complete silence I spoke up and said, "Coming back to work today. At first, I admit I was afraid. Shit, I was petrified." Nick L. Back surprisingly questioned, "You were petrified?" I immediately responded with "Thinking I could never live without you by my side" as we grinned and dapped up. Stewart Hellraiser, out of nowhere, blurted out, "The Lord is by your side" which was met with a "Have mercy" by me. I continued and approached Anya Mind, "And then I spent so many nights thinking how you did me wrong." The beautiful new addition stopped me with her hand and waved me off. I continued on saying, "And I grew strong." Hououin Kyouma rudely interrupted with, "And you know I hate this damn songggg." Finally, I broke out into song snapping my fingers. Well, it didn't take long before the whole team started line dancing. I guess you could say we're good now. I think that the big thing Kiara would do is try to separate the two fighting members with the help of a lineman or someone like that so they could have some space from each other. Then try to use actual conflict resolution by going to each and discussing what the issue is and what the other person can do to fix it. Kiara wants everyone to be friends, so even if she won’t be on her DSFL team for long, she wants everyone in the London Royals locker room to feel like they’re her friend. While I’m more non-confrontational, I think that Kiara would be immediately involved in finding solutions and fixing things. Harmony among teammates is important and if teammates are fighting, then that means that the team itself is going to suffer because they just won’t feel like friends anymore. Everyone on the team needs to believe in each other and be there for each other in order to help make things go well. Otherwise, teammates might not do the right things out on the field for a teammate they feel isn’t their friend. |
