RE: (S30) PT 3 - Short-Term Goals - zaynzk - 08-07-2021 Quite simply I do not really care too much about my individual performances as a GM my one goal is to make sure the team is playing well. There are a few issues I would love to smooth out in the second half of the season. Really we have had some poor luck the first half of the season dropping points to basically everyone in the first few games leaving us 4-4 by the break. Somehow that was good enough for us to be in a playoff spot which is pretty cool. We won the last two games putting us at a more respectable 6-4 record. Honestly the biggest test will be how we play against Arizona on Monday. I personally am very excited for that game, win or lose I have a lot of belief in this silverbacks team and hopefully we can win enough game to make it into the playoffs and make an impact like we did last season. I would love to be able to catch up to Austin and gain that two seed or even crazier and catch up to Zona but I think Zona a bit too good to lose 4 out of 6 games. But no hard shooting for the moon. In all I am glad we are in a solid spot to close the season. I hope we really step it up now and make a super strong showing to make the playoffs in style RE: (S30) PT 3 - Short-Term Goals - TheCC - 08-07-2021 “The sim gods are not always as nice as you want them to be”. A truer statement has never been spoken. This statement especially rings true in my rookie ISFL season on this player. My rookie season on my first player was amazing - it would actually end up being the best season of Tyron Shields’ entire tragic career. This time around it’s a bit different though. My player didn’t even show up on the index until week 3, because he was playing so poorly that he didn’t record a single stat through two full games as a starting safety. Talk about being non-existent on the field. Even at this point in the season, after he has collected at least a few stats, he is still one of the worst defensive backs in the league. He has one forced fumble, a handful of tackles, and maybe one or two passes deflected? No interceptions, but I’m used to that because of my year or more that I spent with Tyron Shields, who had a life threatening allergy to interceptions. So anyway, back to the prompt. To answer your question, I suppose that the thing that I want my player to improve on before next season comes around is…. EVERYTHING! Surely I can’t be cursed with back to back players that are horrible….right? Right?!?!?! RE: (S30) PT 3 - Short-Term Goals - Starboy - 08-07-2021 One thing that is always important in the defensive end’s arsenal is how quickly they can get to the quarterback. Not everyone gets to face off against the weak offensive tackles when they become a rookie, and Jason Garciaparra has not been lucky enough to face any easy competition. With that in mind, agility and strength have been Jason’s primary goals with improvement through the end of his rookie season on route to his first bonus that is not as far away as it might seem. His rookie season also has not been a total failure, but he remains a quiet defensive player on an otherwise solid Chicago defense that can hang for three quarters with almost any team in the league. He has made a couple clutch tackles but the improvement on his blitzing power is something that will change him to a respectable monster and a proper Butcher. Lining up with some of the best blitzers in the league has kept Jason hungry and ready to learn what he is missing in order to take the next step. By the end of the season and before his sophomore year, Jason believes that he can become a strong component of the Chicago rebuild once the new quarterback comes in. RE: (S30) PT 3 - Short-Term Goals - ajtigger - 08-08-2021 The number one thing I would like to see from my player is to pick up more receiving yards for the season. I am currently on pace for just over 1000 yards which would only be the second time I hit that in my career. In order to hit this milestone, my player really needs to work on the yards he picks up after the catch. As a slot receiver, my player tends to catch many short passes so his yards per catch tend to be low. If I can start turning some of these six yard catches into ten yard catches, I think I have not just a shot at breaking 1000, but setting a new career high in receiving yards. In addition to wanting these yards for my own personal satisfaction, I think adding extra yards to each of my catches can only help my team pick up a few wins down the stretch. Those extra yards will help convert a few more first downs, keeping drives alive and keeping us in the game. While our season may already be over based on record, San Jose is a proud organization that wants to go down fighting and pick up any scalps we can along the way. The locker room is still together and we all want to win games. RE: (S30) PT 3 - Short-Term Goals - Number 82 - 08-08-2021 Underwhelming and disappointing would be the best description of Dawkins' season thus far. For a senior player and veteran, moments of impact have been few and far between in Season 30. It appears that rather than rebounding from a average season, Dawkins has regressed further and that possibly the best season are well and truely behind him. Defensively, Dawkins has had little impact in getting to the quarterback, having only a single sack to his tally thus far and in the air Dawkins has only been able to deflect a handful of passes. Another area of disappointment has been his contributions on special teams with his return averages on kick and punt returns being on the lower end when compared to the rest of the league. Struggling for form the past two season, well realistically three season really, Dawkins is just hoping to be able turn back the clock and find some form to end the season on a high note. Honolulu had gotten of to a slow start but has picked it up the past few weeks so improved play on Dawkins end could help keep things going and hopefully competitive for the remainder of the season. Rushing the passer hasn't really been part of Dawkins' game though his career with the majority of his impact being able to defend passes and making interceptions. Dawkins has been putting in the work during training and has spent increasing amounts of time studying film in the hope that he'd be able to put what he's learned and worked on to good use in the remaining games of the season. Code: 268 words RE: (S30) PT 3 - Short-Term Goals - LewisMelville - 08-08-2021 We are at the halfway point of the season and this is normally a good time to review what is going well and what is not going so well. As we are at this stage now the Berlin Fire Salamanders are in a promising position having defeated all of their conference opponents and are currently 7 and 0 having beaten the Baltimore Hawks twice. However they are 1 and 2 when playing teams in the opposing conference which does not bode well for any Ultimus aspirations the team have. However we are not here to talk about the Berlin Fire Salamanders we are here to talk about their Cornerback Jeeeeroy Lenkins (unfortunately stud Cornerback Swantavius Jones was too busy saving the world to be available). Lenkins stats are better than they have been in recent seasons at this stage having 3 interceptions which I would like to be higher but I think it is more than I had by the end of the last 2 seasons. What is alarmingly concerning for me is the fact that Jeeeeroy Lenkins has a pitiful 13 passes defended, ******* 13! We have played 10 games I barely averaging more than 1 a game. I am also 17 TPE away from a max build which will be completed most likely by the week 12 games if not at the very latest week 13. These numbers are highly alarming for such a talented player on such a stacked defensive unit and something needs to be done so I can get the stats I deserve. For comparison there are 3 players with less TPE that have twenty seven + passes defended and two of them have the same or more picks than I do. Feel my wrath!! RE: (S30) PT 3 - Short-Term Goals - RussDrivesTheBus - 08-08-2021 As a Linebacker that specializes in pass coverage, and a savvy veteran of the league, Bass’ coverage stats have been incredibly lackluster. He’s managed to be a tackle machine, but that’s been the case for most of his career. With only 1 INT and 4 PDs Bass seems to be more of a bystander than a participant. He’s done his best to impart leadership and advice to his teammates, and that seems to have worked well for some. Long time teammate Rickie Vaughne has had a renaissance in the coverage game, stacking 27 PDs and 4 INTs; 3 of this taken back the other way for a score. Bass has always preached patience to his teammates, and Vaughne has taken that to heart this season, picking his spots to great effect. While it may be too late to win any awards this season, Bass does plan to work with some of his younger teammates to try and increase his speed a little bit. He may be getting older, but he’s always stayed in incredible shape, so it’s not unbelievable that he could manage to find one final gear in an attempt to give the cats the last of what he has to offer on the football field. RE: (S30) PT 3 - Short-Term Goals - Faelax - 08-08-2021 Evan Jones has been having a pretty great season thus far on his new team, the Austin Copperheads. At the time of this writing, the Copperheads are second in the league with an 8-2 record, and look poised to make some noise in the playoffs. The defense has been great for the Copperheads, and Jones is a big part of it. With 46 tackles, 2 sacks, and an interception, the safety has been an excellent contributor on a great unit. But one of the classic strengths of Evan Jones’s game has not been there this season. Zero forced fumbles is a weird stat to see this deep into the season, and I am sure it is something he would like to bring back into his game. At every level Jones has played at, he has been a turnover machine, but for whatever reason that just has not happened. Jones has never been a big interceptions guy, but a couple more there probably would not hurt either. He would also like to get brought into the fold up front a bit more, both on the pass rush and in the run stopping game. Jones is great at getting behind the line of scrimmage and causing chaos in the backfield, and maybe he can get back there more in these last couple weeks of play. (223 words) RE: (S30) PT 3 - Short-Term Goals - DELIRIVM - 08-08-2021 Sakeem Webb has been playing pretty well to begin this season and could be in the running for Defense Rookie of the Year in the DSFL. But one part of his game he needs to step up is his interception numbers. He's been fantastic on the pass defense part of his game, consistently getting his hand in on many pass attempts, but he has only come down with two interceptions in that time. There have been copious chances to pick off passes for the Birddogs this season, but Sakeem hasn't done as well as he would have hoped. One of the best choices for Sakeem would be working on his hands. He's already a blazing fast corner for his current age, but his hands leave a lot left to be desired. So I believe that there will be rigorous training sessions this offseason with many of the top ISFL receivers and defensive backs. With these people in place to help Webb figure out how to be more of a ballhawk, I believe in his sophomore season he will lead the DSFL in interceptions. Speed will be a second focus to continue growing on Sakeem as it's one of his best attributes. But nothing will be as useful as getting Sakeem's hands to the level of the best corners in the game. [221 Words] RE: (S30) PT 3 - Short-Term Goals - HalfEatenOnionBagel - 08-08-2021 Knowing how the sim works, I can't ever be too upset with how my player is performing and instead just enjoy the ride. That being said I did expect to have better stats in a few different categories. I think with higher speed and strength I expected to have some higher numbers in tackles and sacks as I most recently only got my first sack of the season. I think unfortunately I had raised some of these more "athletics" stats if you will at the expense of some other useful stats. That's why in the second half of the season, Orpheus is going to focus on getting back to the fundamentals. I'm talking good tackling form, better play awareness and some more conditioning to boot. This will require some extra time after practice of course and sacrificing a few evenings out to study some tape. But with the playoffs still in the picture and the ISFL draft and corresponding combine still looming there's a lot to be ready for anyways. Orpheus is also planning to consult with his brother Morpheus, the current DSFL sack leader, for some tips on getting after the quarterback. Hopefully these extra efforts will show up in the stat sheet for Orpheus and the win column for the Birddogs. But if not, well he has a long career ahead of him to stack up some stats. |
