(S20) - PT4 - Awards Season - Jangorhino - 02-16-2020

I don’t have a NSFL teammate yet, as I’ve not been drafted. I’m S22 and right now I’m just trying to get this new player task done for those 12 juicy TPE! So instead of a teammate, I’m gonna shout GOD! Thank you god for making my football skills so sick! My sauce is too much for all these fools and I’m gonna be a 1st round pick and get paid in the shade drinking lemonade. And it’s all thanks to you God!! That’s why you gonna min all the NSFL and DSFL awards this year and every year!

With you God, I would just be stuck back in that Lithuanian prison cell with my ankles and wrists shackled and barred in a tiny prison cell with rats gnawing the dingle berries off my unwashed ass. That was not a pretty seen y’all! Thankfully God came and got that Lithuanian judge to get herpes and not be able to appear in court and thereby allowing me a case dismissed. I’m that rural part of Lithuania I was in, there’s only one judge. That one judge just happens to be a tremendously horny person. So he keeps getting herpes flair ups because all the Lithuanian farm girls are born with herpes. So, anyway! Thanks to you God, I’m out and I’m ready to get drafted! You’re the real MVP god! GOD=GOAT!!

As an aspiring rookie entering the league this season, I would like to offer my support to Douglas Quaid for LB of the year in the DFSL. He had an outstanding campaign, with over ten tackles per game (144 total - 2nd in the league). 5 of these tackles were tackles for losses. He added 3 forced fumbles (2 recovered) as well as a game changing INT. He was an impact player for the Coyotes all season long on defense with great production. Fearsome in the run game he also brought down the opposing QB 3 times over the course of the season. While he trailed MacGregor in total tackles, the rest of his statline cements his status as the linebacker of the season. That said, I, Derred de Ville, will be hoping to best his numbers this year and am looking forward to a healthy rivalry once we both play in the big time league.

Another candidate I considered here was Deck, who also had a hell of a season, consistently getting to the QB, recording an astounding 15 sacks while not trailing far behind Quaid with over 130 tackles. He would be worthy of a defensive award, and should maybe get defensive player of the year, while Quaid takes home the other award.

I could do worse than to try to emulate Immanuel Blackstone in my rookie season. He’s been a standout Defensive End for Tijuana and has put together a decent campaign through fourteen games. He has 71 tackles and a whopping 22 of them were for a loss. His speed allows him to get in the backfield really fast and apply pressure early and often. He has given teams and offensive lines fits and they have had to create special schemes just to deal with him. He has forced two fumbles and recovered one. The guy even has a safety to his name along with nine sacks. He’s not a world-beater but his speed and power have quarterbacks rushing to get the ball out which leads to more mistakes. The Luchadores did not have a lot of success this season but it wasn’t for Blackstone’s lack of effort. He has the strength and speed needed to go far in this league if he keeps improving. I would advise any defensive end rookies, like myself, coming in this next season to watch what this guy does on every snap. If you just keep your eyes open you’re guaranteed to learn something. Looking forward to watching this guy next season and maybe even play with him some day.

No NSFL Teammate. So i'll shout out one from my old college team back in Bama. Kevin Adams JR. Usually I'm not a big fan of quarterbacks, but it was hard not to love this dude. Hardest working guy day in and, day out and it showed. He's a big reason why we were usually miles ahead. When thats the case the offense gets sloppy...Makes my job easier. You can't ask for much more from anyone on the offense.

This dude would always have his teams back, win or lose. He took the blame. He took the fault and, wouldn't let anyone keep their head down. He's the type of teammate everyone including myself should strive to be. The type of player as well. I hope one day to see him in the NSFL but a horrible injury may have ruined that for my dear friend. His quality of life is okay, but its tough to say if he will ever see the field again. The guy did it all right ever since he was a kid, and he might not get to reap the benefits and that breaks my heart.

I devote my future perfomances to that man. Good or bad, because I know he would appreacite and, respect both. No matter the outcome.

So I was talking with a friend the other day and we were talking about MVP candidates. We were bringing up the usual players, Armstrong, Torenson, etc… However, I then said that the MVP should be Jay Cue. Surprisingly, he said, “No Way!”. I was baffled because clearly Cue was MVP worthy. If you can look at his stats he clearly was the best passer in S20. He had the second most passing yards with 3942 only behind Rose Jenkins who had 107 more attempts than Cue. Also Cue threw 26 touchdowns which was second most to again Rose Jenkins. Now here is the biggest argument to why he should be the MVP and what made me personally write him off as the MVP. His Interception is low, very very low. He only threw 9 interceptions all season long and for a rookie quarterback that is very impressive. In comparison to all the other quarterbacks in the NSFL he was tied second for least interceptions only behind Franklin Armstrong. Due to Cue throwing for a lot of touchdowns and barely any interceptions his passer rating is insane. He finished the season with a passer rating of 91.5 which led all quarterbacks and was a whole 4.9 better than the next highest score(Wolfie McDummy). So what i’m trying to say is, Cue is the best quarterback of all time and go Outlaws!

Philly had a bit of a down year, so there honestly aren't a ton of players that had huge years. That said, a few of my teammates should at least be considered. First up would be Sam Torensen. He led the league in rushing yards on the season, despite a less than stellar passing attack. Defenses were keen to stack the box against Torensen, but it didn't seem to matter as he managed to have an extremely productive season overall. While his touchdown numbers weren't insane, this is mostly attributable to the lack of redzone opportunities for the stud back. Torensen is definitely a front runner for running back of the year, and has a good shot at winning it.
Another player who should be considered is Brock Phoenix as rookie of the year. While his numbers were not amazing, given his TPE and the young supporting cast, he really had a nice season. He'll likely get beat out by a position that doesn't require high TPE like the QB does, but don't sleep on Brock as one of the players with the brightest future in the league.

All in all, a couple candidates with maybe an outside shot at winning an award other than Torensen, but that doesn't you mean you should overlook how Philly managed to remain competitive this season.

The Liberty may have narrowly missed the playoffs, but despite their quest for title gold ending early, there are a number of players among Philly’s ranks deserving of recognition. Of course, the top dog leader of them is Mr. Running Back of the Year himself, Sam Torenson. He currently leads the entire league in rushing yards, with 1334 yards on 322 attempts for a good 4.1 average clip and 8 touchdowns. He chipped in 208 receiving yards on 36 catches for good measure, further solidifying him for easy awards contention and making that trade a few years back with Chicago all the sweeter. Now, time for a little self promotion, but I am not afraid of saying that Venus Powers absolutely has Punter of the Year wrapped up with her name on it. No one else even sniffs it. She leads all punters with 4401 yards from her booming foot, and - despite also leading in punting attempts with 92 - she still leads all punters in average punting distance, a blistering 47.8 yard average per punt. Awards season is often a question of volume vs efficiency, but if you have both, it’s a slam dunk case. Powers has the power and the consistency to dominate the punting conversation.

You want to know who deserves an award for being awesome on yellowknife? Nobody. Not a single player on this team stands out on the stat sheets as being exceptional and deserving of recognition. Let that sink in a little bit, the #1 seed in the league (for the third season in a row) is a team that could possibly have not a single player win an award right now. What does that mean? Does that mean Yellowknife is a team that doesn't deserve to be where they are right now? Does that mean that the Wraiths are going to choke in the playoffs again? I don't know about the last one but for the first one I'd say no, they do deserve to be exactly where they are right now. The fact of the matter is while the Wraiths don't have themselves being carried by one or two stellar players they are currently one of the most balanced teams in the league on offense in terms of passing and rushing performance and also are boasting a strong defense without many weaknesses, while it may not look like that on paper remember they have Cooter so sometimes the points scored aren't the fault of the defense. Anyways at the end of the day I don't expect any YKW players to win any awards and that's okay, because I do expect them to win the Ultimus. Please don't lose to the Yeti.
