(S23) - PT1 - With a Little Help From My Friends - iStegosauruz - 06-17-2020 For the Copperheads, improving off of last year implies increased playoff success. After starting off Season 22 a bit rough, the Copperheads rebounded to make the playoffs as the second seed from the ASFC. With how competitive the ASFC is, for the Copperheads to achieve our eventual goal of winning an Ultimus we'll need to secure the first seed to ensure that we have homefield advantage until at least the Ultimus. That is definitely doable, if not even easier to accomplish than last season. We've built added depth. Our wide receiver group has only gotten better. Net Gaines is primed for a breakout year as the new first option for Easton Cole. Rod Tidwell is as effective as ever even though he's aged a bit. Eddie Jeeta is the best third receiver in the league and provides a good change of pace for the offense out of the slot and as a backup. On the defensive side of the ball the secondary is much improved. Colt Mendoza will step in for Jack Rambo at the second cornerback slot, while Rambo will become a veteran backup who will provide much needed leadership and breathers for the rest of the back half of the secondary. On the defensive line, Slinky Claxton adds another impressive young piece to the already young, dominant line that includes Kyle Idlewyld and Troen Egghands. Assuming an improvement from last year, in fact, it is inevitable. Though, of course, there are anomalies like tonight. It isn't typical to get beaten by New Orleans so badly, but it happens. Nonetheless, with such a stout defense backed by veterans like Lavelle Jr. and Sexjoke, as well as a dangerous quarterback-wide receiver duo (in Easton Cole and Net Gaines), topped off by a dedicated sim expert like Steg, it almost feels as if there is nowhere to go but up. To speak more on the dangerous offensive duo between Cole and Gaines, I know there is a whole thing with Net Gaines not catching balls properly, but the sim is fickle. There is no reason to believe that continues. If it does, so be it. Austin was very close to participating in the Ultimus last season and even if there was no improvement on offense at all, the defense has become scary enough to warrant belief in our playoff ambitions. Further, with the opportunity for such a drastic improvement, I think that it should be the expectation that we'll see a successful team (read: ultimus winning) in Austin this year, rather than a hot take. (S23) - PT1 - With a Little Help From My Friends - Raheem James - 06-17-2020 The butchers are a team filled with players that have been waiting for a chance to prove everyone wrong and this season has the chance to be it. We have a star we in Oleary and even he's still working on his craft. Our Qb George Odennel is a high earning QB with good QB stats and can hit any throw needed of him. Our RB core is quicksand agile and can hit the holes when required too. Our defense also has the chance to be top-tier our CBS are young and improving we have great Lbs and S's and the Dl is getting there. This team is here to prove people wrong about the butcher's team because we have finally arrived. The rookies on the team are also no joke we have great chemistry and I would be surprised if this team doesn't make it deep in the playoffs in a few yrs. This season is all about contending for the playoffs and maybe upsetting a team if we make it there. I also think that if everything goes right we could end up being one of the best teams in this league in just a yr or two. Rember this PT I called it. (S23) - PT1 - With a Little Help From My Friends - Cheech65 - 06-17-2020 The Sarasota Sailfish seemed to shock the league when they made it to the playoffs last season. Sadly, their hopes were cut short by the future champions, the Colorado Yeti. But, the team immediately began organizing in order to meet and surpass these new expectations for this season. The loss of Johnny Blaze at TE and Ragnar Rok at S would land a blow to the team, but the new blood brought in from the DSFL callups was enough to reenergize the locker room. On the offensive, Blaze has been replaced by James Angler and Clark Boyd, while now-retired DE Mike Franchet has been replaced by Mike Karpassi and Son Goku, both of whom look very promising. DT Freezer Riposte, who also retired, was replaced by Cuco Clemente. This bolstered defense should prove to hold the team up in trying times. The main concern the Sailfish have going forward is their offensive power. Holdovers Dax Frost, Rayne Gordon, and Michael Witheblock still stand tall, and the addition of James Angler and Running Back should give the offense plenty of options. The only question that remains is: How will Dexter Banks II hold up at QB? The recently repositioned receiver could very well be the missing link that holds the Sailfish back from playoff success. Only time will tell. In fact, we know that we squeaked by and were actually underdogs to win it all (although we blame that a little on home field advantage). Nonetheless, I think its important to note that because we are such a young team we are really in a much better spot than we even were last season. We didn't lose any key contributers and only a couple of players regressed (Wolfie and Berry). That being said, they didn't regress all that much. They still have enough tpe to be elite in their positions. In fact, in terms of tpe they are #1 and #2 in the league. And did I mention that they play at the two most important positions on the field? That's right quaterback and linebacker. And those are just are weakspots! Everywhere else we are stronger. We have a better receiving corps, better defensive backs, and better defensive line than we had last season in terms of total tpe. Meanwhile if you look at the rest of the league, and our conference rivals the Wraiths in particular, regression issues will make them take a serious step back. The Yeti should have no problem ending the season right back where they started -- up top. |
