I think a tremendously difficult decision in every rookie's future is how to handle the scouting process both in the DSFL and NSFL. All teams will reach out and engage with you and ask you honest questions asking how interested you are in joining that team. Every rookie (especially repeat users) will have competing interests: do you want to be a team player and go wherever the draft takes you, or does nostalgia make you want to rejoin friends and teams that you have a personal connection with? Do you let your "in character" desires control, or do you want to brashly say that you want to go to a team for reasons that your player would never think about?

I faced that head-on in the DSFL scouting process. Teams outright asked me whether I wanted to play with my "brother" Tyler Montain. Of course Asher wanted to play with his brother! But, would I seriously pass on a interested team for that reason? Asher decided to put personal feelings aside and say that he would love to play with him, but would have just as much fun competing against him. The obvious ramifications were that I did not go to Dallas to work with Amidships and Kyamprac, and I have not regretted it since!

One of the biggest turning points for Bruce Buckley in his career was his first day at the training facility for the Myrtle Beach Buccaneers. Due to Buckley’s experience with American Football being lacking if not empty, it was his first introduction to the world of the sport as well as team based sporting activities.

Prior to reaching the DSFL and entering the DSFL draft, Bruce Buckley was having issues with his attitude and anger as he was getting into trouble repeatedly including serious allegations with a NSFL reporter which included a police investigation that did not result in prosecution or charges being laid. With a problematic background and lack of introduction to cooperative sports, Buckley was going to have an interesting entry to the world of American Football and the NSFL.

Meeting his teammates on the first day of offseason training was a turning point in the life and career of Bruce Buckley. It introduced the concept of teamwork and working for one another. People were helping Bruce Buckley develop his skills and become a better player. It has allowed Buckley to develop into one of the greatest offensive lineman in the league who has been nominated for several awards and is the current frontrunner for Offensive Lineman of the Year.

I believe one of the turning points in my career came in high school. I had always been the kid who spent all his time outside throwing, kicking or hitting balls but I was always rather small. I played soccer, baseball and football in high school and although football was always my favorite nobody ever thought I could make a career out of it because I was just not tall enough. I don‘t even know why, my parents gave me enough vegetables and I ate most of them, only giving about halt of them to our dog who thankfully ate basically anything. But I digress.
I‘m not sure why it happened but in my senior year of high school I finally got tall enough for my coach to take me seriously. In fact I became so big that I not only got my first scholarship offers from colleges but they wanted me to play tight end because of my height alone. I was still very thin and very untalented but it didn‘t matter to them. Thankfully I ended up as a wide receiver in college – although that‘s a story for another time and some might say I‘m not that much better at wide receiver than I was at tight end. Anyway, if the hormones hadn‘t kicked in in that last year of high school I never would have gotten any scholarship offers from colleges. And that probably means I never would have ended up in the NSFL.

For Haha Mango-Panda, the biggest change that happened was when he was drafted by the Dallas Birddogs, almost instantly after he was drafted, he was asked to change positions. Going from playing quarterback his whole life from childhood to college to a linebackers, it made the transition very difficult. At first, he had to throw away every instinct he had on the football field and relearn the whole game. But the advantage he had was he could predict what the offense could be doing. In his time in the DSFL, he spent relearning the game of football. He wasn't very good at tackling, horrible strength but he was great in speed. So becoming the best linebacker he could become was important figure to the defense. Haha, loved the changed, it made him into a better player overall, and he wanted to help the team to win, which was difficult for an expansion team. Of course throughout the season, his stats started to pile up along with his line backing core. They were the fierce defense, and Haha learned a lot from the natural linebackers that he play along side with. When the position change happened, it helped Haha shoot up in the NSFL draft. He was selected by the Sarasota Sailfish, another expansion team and helped develop their defense into a formidable unit. Now the team is very strong, and it has a very good young defense.

Well this is easy. The biggest turning point in Joseph Petrongolo's career was when he was asked to switch his position from a tight end to a running back. His entire career, Joseph Petrongolo had been a tight end. Starting young, when he helped his peewee team win the peewee Superbowl in 2026 where he racked up over 200 yards receiving and 3 touchdowns, including an 83 yard bomb on his team's opening drive.

In high school Petrongolo was a four year varsity starter, and helped lead his team to two New Jersey state championship titles, scoring touchdowns in both games.

In college Joseph had an excellent freshman season however he was unable to keep up such a high level of performance due to a family emergency his sophomore year.

Drafted as a tight end to the Portland Pythons in the 2037 DSFL draft, the entire course of Petrongolo's career would change when he was asked by a member of the Pythons staff to switch positions and play as a running back in the upcoming season. At the position, Petrongolo had a great season, rushing for almost 1200 yards and 5 touchdowns. To put these numbers in perspective, the Pythons' two tight ends that season had just over 400 yards combined and only one touchdown between them. This position swap was definitely a good choice, at least so far, for Petrongolo who is looking to improve on his numbers from last season.

Thorian Skarsgard faced the difficult prospect of being drafted to an NSFL team that didn't have a need at linebacker when that was all he had ever played. As a matter of fact, they had a future Hall of Famer at the position, and so it seemed that Skarsgard may have been looking at a situation where he was going to be traded. It was then that his general manager approached him about position switching to play defensive line, as their all-pro defensive tackle was retiring. Thorian didn't much know what to make of this, as he was a 250 pound linebacker, and simply not built to take on the rigors of playing the middle of the line. He was given a new diet and workout regimen to bulk up as much as possible over the offseason before training camp. He ended up tipping the scales at 310 pounds, and went on to be the Otters primary defensive tackle for numerous seasons. He even recently cemented himself as one of the greatest defensive linemen of all time by notching his one hundredth sack this season. Doing something new can definitely be scary or sound undesirable, but it can also be the start of something awesome, and I think Skarsgard's story proves that.

A major turning point in Slinky Claxton’s Career was the day that he was traded from the Arizona Outlaws to the Austin Copperheads. Having been an influential leader for the Portland Pythons, Slinky thought pretty highly of himself. He had been a player who was nominated Defensive Captain in his second year in the DSFL and was looking forward to taking his efforts to the NSFL. Drafted by Arizona in the previous season, it was uncertain whether there was room for him on their Defensive Line. This making it look like there was a possibility that he would be forced to play in the DSFL once again, potentially his third season. However, when Austin would make a trade for him, it became clear that his efforts in the DSFL would pay off. They were looking to plug him into their Line next to Idlewyld and Egghands for what could be one of the toughest lines in the NSFL. The prospect to be in a very impactful role gave Claxton more focus going into Season 23. Having played 12 games, he now has accumulated more sacks than he had in his previous 2 seasons in the DSFL. His tackle numbers have also been increasing as he has begun to focus more on his agility. I think the future is bright for Claxton and it will be interesting to see where it takes the Copperheads. Although this year hasn’t been as great as they had hoped so far, the Defensive Line seems to be doing the trick.
