Most of the league are still in the "meh you just come in and replace them" mindset because it's only season 3 and they remember all the bots at one point. Most haven't quite realized what adding 15+ people every season means down the line, and haven't quite caught on to the 900 tpe inactive qb/rb/k/etc that can't be moved that IS coming in like 4-6 months real time. I would give them a BIT more credit here. We put out info saying DON'T PLAY THIS POSITION IF YOU WANT TO GET TIME EARLY ON. So people rolling QB, WR, etc are given that information. In addition, there's always expansion. We've done it once and will do it again if needed. Bear in mind that in only THREE seasons we've added 2 NSFL teams and 6 DSFL teams. Accusing the HO of not caring about player field time is pretty irresponsible. Honestly, going through profiles yesterday, I was shocked to see how many players I thought were very active based on their stats were actually inactive for a while already. Given the around 40% activity rate I found yesterday, I will argue that this is something that will be an issue here constantly, with people just randomly going inactive, starting at 50 TPE all the way to the highest TPE possible and anywhere inbetween. At some point teams will have to make a decision who to play and who to sit, but given the massive inactivity, I think we are a ways away from that. Right now, there aren't enough active players to fill every NSFL roster spot so playing an inactive is better than a bot. Once we have full rosters of actice/semi-active members, I hope the inactive get sent down to DSFL or forced into retirement. Nothing will deter a new active user more than being passed up for an inactive with more TPE. We are still a couple seasons from full rosters but it is still something that should be proactively considered. Do Something About Offensive Line - AdamS - 10-20-2017 Yeah, I know. I'm the guy on the corner with the "end is nigh" sign for a while yet. ![]() Do Something About Offensive Line - JuOSu - 10-20-2017 (10-20-2017, 05:36 AM)ItsJustBarry Wrote:This was something I noticed recently as well. As someone heavily involved in personnel management for a team I can't begin to tell you how frustrating it is to deal with this problem. Out of the Otters S1 draft only 2 of the defensive players we drafted are still playing today, one is our GM and one is our previous co-GM who I am afraid may be going inactive as well. With the DSFL now, player retention and activity is going to be driven by the DSFL GMs. They will be the ones to get the players up to speed and immersed in the game. Speaking from experience, had I not been claimed off waivers during my pre-rookie season, there is no way I would have stayed around for 4+ weeks waiting on the draft. We can't prevent real life, but hopefully we can filter out some of the controllable reasons why players go inactive. Completely separate suggestion: We have a rookie mentor team but maybe we should have pre-player creation team that can share experience, player suggestions, and realistic expectations so our new members can make wise and educated decisions and reduce re-rolls. Do Something About Offensive Line - AdamS - 10-20-2017 with any luck the DSFL GM's will be doing a lot fo that to help with the grooming process Do Something About Offensive Line - 7hawk77 - 10-20-2017 (10-20-2017, 02:55 AM)JuOSu Wrote:Thought of that exact thing, but I think it is a bit too crazy and maybe even unfair. Other positions cant have several people at once, plus it would be a lot more work for the player I think. I actually brought this up with TC and really the problem is scaling. New player for OL? The entire OL is atrocious. Entire line is full of angus winchesters? OL is very strong. Really not going to be a great middle ground. Either the OL is failing horribly or not failing at all. We can do it so each team has the same or one team with a higher average TPE has more to spend. Keeps it scaled. |
