A lot of stock was put into James Gath when he was drafted number 2 overall to the Grey Ducks. Frankly that IPO was overvalued. Week one was a disaster for Gath shareholders. While he recorded a lot of playing time and started at cornerback, he did almost nothing on the field. His only recorded stat was his three tackles. What didn't show up though is all the unmeasurables which devastated his debut. He was frequently dragged around by wide receivers in a performance where the Royals threw for 300+ yards and 3 touchdowns. Gath was simply torched, as were his shareholders.

While Gath hasn't recovered much of his stock value in weeks 2 and 3, the Minnesota Grey Ducks themselves have. After a week one loss at home, they faced two tough away games but managed to snatch a victory from the Portland Pythons. Improving to 1-2 on the season and keeping them in the 4 way tie in the northern division. Looking ahead to the future, the Ducks have some more winnable games - some of which are at home - which gives investors a reason to take another look at the Ducks. As for Gath, assuming he can continue to improve, there may be some future return on investment but it's understandable if some investors want to cut their losses and run.

A player that has had their stock shoot drop has been the Arizona Outlaws with their surprisingly confusing season. The Outlaws were primed to take the ASFC through some hard-fought battles under their 1000+ TPE QB that could easily make any teamwork, see for example the Atlanta Pink Ponies in the S24 Charity Tournament. However, things did not go as planned and their stock has since plummeted from where it once was now that they sit at the bottom of the ASFC at 2-4 with another team that took a step back, but in a more predictable move in the Orange County Otters. At least the Otters have an excuse that their aging quarterback, Franklin Armstrong, is on his final year with nowhere to go but retirement at the end of the season. Somehow the Outlaws have not found success on any side of the ball with a league worst 85 points scored and a second worst points allowed. The main issue facing the Outlaws seems to be themselves as they have all the right tools to win but the sim gods just have not allowed a happy ending for the team of Arizona to rise above. Hopefully they manage to turn things around to prove the sim really is the only issue with the team.

In the first few weeks of the season, the Outlaws stock has definitely depreciated in value. A lot of people were high on this team heading into the season - last season, they nearly secured a playoff spot and finished tied in record for the 3rd spot in the ASFC. In addition, they were top 3 in both offense and defense in terms of points. With barely anyone on the team in regression, and only one major departure, most around the league figured this would be the year that Arizona takes a leap and vaults into playoff contention, where they will remain for several seasons while this core sticks around. Unfortunately, it's been a rough start, as the Outlaws are now 2-4 and got pummeled by the Wraiths last night. Neither the offense nor the defense is buzzing like they did last season, and their stock prices have taken a hit, leaving those who invested early feeling grim. I would advise people to buy now while the price is low - the Outlaws are better than their record indicates and have had a tough schedule, this week especially (games against the Wraiths and Yeti and Otters, or i think it was the otters i forget). Anyway, as the team continues to improve and the schedule lightens up, the Outlaws should find themselves back in playoff contention by the end of the season.

Well sadly today I'm going to talk about the falling stock of my own team the Chicago Butchers. We had so much hype in our LR going into the season with some big FA acquisitions in Rodriguez and Yoda as well as a big trade that solidified our DL and of course the continued natural progression of an active team. Well as of writing this we are currently no where close to looking like a playoff contender with only one win to show for our efforts. Tons of people bought into us based on the stock market and our already low status and somehow we have sunk even lower since then. It's definitely been frustrating to say the least because it feels like despite everything we have felt like we have done right in rebuilding the team, we aren't going to have a better record than in the seasons leading to Chicago getting a scarlet letter in the league for bad moves and poor performance. It definitely hurts even more because two of our most loyal and talented players in Hockhertz and O'Leary have stuck by this miserable team for so long now and won't be around for when that hard work pays off…..if it even does for us at this point. Maybe I'm just ranting a bit here but just when it seemed like we were going to start making waves in the league the wind has been quickly taken out of our sails. Hopefully the back half of the season will bring more success.

We will be looking at the status of James Cho. Unfortunately despite being a top TPE earner his stats in game do not correlate to his TPE unfortunately. We are not sure what this could account to but if you look at other defensive ends in the ISFL with less TPE they have better stat line’s. Despite that during the last 2 and half years so far Cho has unfortunately regressed. Of course the data sample size is relatively small due to the lack of years played so far but if we use what we have you can see that Cho stats have gone down every year.  During Cho’s rookie year he recorded 36 tackles, 17 which were tackle for loss and 6 sacks, 1 fumble recovery. His second year Cho recorded 39 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, 1 forced fumble and 5 sacks, and a blocked punt. So far his third year in with six games under his belt he has 11 tackles, 5 tackles for loss, and 1 sack. If this trend continues by the end of the season Cho will not even hit over 30 combined tackles or even 5 sacks. Despite these stat lines being subpar Cho still helps his defensive team succeed by eating up one offensive linemen and keeping him busy to hopefully let one of his linebackers or defensive backs come in for a sack as the Yellowknife’s have the highest sack count when it comes to defensive backs.
