RE: (S24) - PT 3 - Midseason Mania - Gravtx - 08-27-2020 Clay Stallworth is leading the charge. While Kansas City’s record is lackluster right now, they are in second place in the NFC, and part of that is due to their offensive line. They lead the NFC in pancake blocks and are tied for 2nd in fewest sacks allowed. Clay Stallworth is leading the charge. 43 pancakes through 7 games. 0 sacks allowed. Stallworth is currently on pace to break the current DSFL single season record for pancakes by 20. Do I think he will maintain his 6 pancakes per game rate? No, but to break the record by 1 pancake, Stallworth needs to maintain 3.5 pancakes per game for the back half of the season. That is nearly half of his current average. To think that he can’t do that is insanity. To add onto his impressive totals, Stallworth also had 13 pancakes in his team's most recent 25-23 win against the London Royals. Of course, there is still half a season of DSFL football to be played, but Stallworth is currently 11 pancakes ahead of the next highest lineman, and so it is difficult to imagine that he will be passed any time soon. Stallworth is clearly Offensive Lineman of the year through week 7. As football fans, we can hope that Stallworth maintains his historic pace so we can all bear witness to more great football in the weeks to follow. RE: (S24) - PT 3 - Midseason Mania - cho1325 - 08-28-2020 This was difficult as I believe the Yellowknife wraiths have multiple candidates to win awards and I myself will probably not win any due to my poor performance on the field as of lately. If we are to talk on the offensive side of the ball of course we need to give the award of Rookie of the year to none other than our rookie quarterback Colby Jack. Jack, the successor to none other than Cooter Bigsby had very large shoes to fill and did Jack fill those shoes nicely. So far in his rookie year Jack has recorded 18 passing touchdowns which leads the league out of all the quarterbacks, with 161 completions out of 298 attempts Jack has a passer rating of 54%. Of course it could always be higher but at this stage in his career over 50% is a great accomplishment. Jack has eclipsed over 2000 yards this season with 2001 yards total so far, and will continue to go higher and he will more than likely eclipse 3000 yards at the rate he is going. With these statistics and Jack being a rookie, hands down he will win the offensive rookie of the year there is no doubt. Of course I am biased because he is our quarterback but his stats speak for themselves. RE: (S24) - PT 3 - Midseason Mania - Swanty - 08-28-2020 I believe the two closest Royals to winning awards this year are Juan Domine for Linebacker of the Year and Albert Ruschmann for either DRotY or DLotY. Coming off of a Domineant rookie year, Juan was a little slower out of the gate in terms of individual stats this year, although London's defensive performance overall has improved massively. Domine picked it up in recent weeks though, and now leads all linebackers in both sacks and tackles for loss. What more could you want from your LB? His overall tackle numbers have dropped as London has brought in extra strength elsewhere, meaning there's less reliance on their dominant LBs from last year, but Domine is still finding ways to top the charts. Albert Ruschmann is having a really nice rookie season. A key part of the top defence in the conference, Ruschmann has taken down the ballcarrier for a loss 10 times, tied for the most in the league. Unfortunately for Albert, the big draft class means most of his competitors are from the same class, so the rookie of the year title will be a hard fought one. Continuing on his hot streak, bagging a few sacks before the season is out and keeping London at the top of the defensive charts will make this key player a frontrunner for sure. RE: (S24) - PT 3 - Midseason Mania - .simo - 08-28-2020 So as a few of you are probably aware, the Philly Liberty has started the season 0-9. This might have slipped by most of you but it's true. That means aside from some unwanted awards like the ISFL's worst kicker we aren't really in the running for many awards. I'm sure I could write an article on Brock DTeonix but yeah that probably hasn't been done 38 times already. This caused me to look back towards the DSFL and in particular the Coyotes which I still hang around, and specifically Clay Stallworth on the offensive line. This man has been nothing short of spectacular. This is his first season in the DSFL and we have had to keep the firies around at all times cause he is on fire. No one has had to buy any breakfast lately cause he's been handing pancakes out to everyone that looks at him wrong. Before game 7 he was already on pace to beat the DSFL record and then in game 7 he got a massive 13 pancakes. The next closest is all the way back on 32 pancakes. You can tell Clay isn't some bollocks cause there are zero sacks right here. Zero on the season, you can't do any better than that. This one is the most open and shut cast I've ever seen for a positional award. Give it to him now. RE: (S24) - PT 3 - Midseason Mania - TheCC - 08-28-2020 I think that the player with the best odds of winning an award on my Chicago Butchers would be star LB Mike Hockhertz. Coming off a great season in S23, he is doing it again in S24. He wasn't recognized last season, even though he filled up the stat sheet. I think that he would have to be in the running this season for Linebacker of the Year, or possibly even Defensive Player of the Year. Mike Hockhertz is in second place in the league in tackles - he's only two tackles behind the first place guy, Dex Kennedy of the Baltimore Hawks (who is a former teammate of mine from the Minnesota Grey Ducks, QUACK). Along with the volume in the tackle column, he has had some success in other areas of the field, though not as much as some other candidates. That fact may hurt his case a bit. However, he does have one sack, one interception, and three passes defensed. I think that all of these things make a case for LB Mike Hockhertz having a chance to win Linebacker of the Year. There is at least one other player that I think deserves some award consideration on the Chicago Butchers, and that is wide receiver Sean O'Leary. One player the Royals have leaned on to keep the offense rolling when they need it most is TE Frank Michell. The big man doesn’t make many appearances on the highlight reels each week like some of the more flashy players on the Royals offense (looking at your Gunner Thorbjornsson), but when the Royals need a tough 5 or 6 yards on 3rd down they can always count on Michell. As the season has progressed, Michell has built his resume and put himself firmly in the argument for TE of the Year. He has hauled in 32 receptions which puts him 2nd among all TEs and 6th overall. Michell has also scored two touchdowns thus far which is good for a 1st place tie among TEs and 9th among all receivers. Michell has also been a contributor in protection with his 6 pancakes and 0 sacks allowed. The TE of the Year race is wide open at this point, but it is very clear that Frank Michell will be one of the first names mentioned in the conversation.
