RE: (S25) - PT 3 - Early Decisions - deadlunatic - 10-23-2020 Mark really wanted to go to a school in Texas with a good academic program as well as a football team known for developing wide receivers. He was highly recruited by some lesser schools, but Baylor was not one of them. He decided on Baylor and walked on as a freshman, he was initially just a third stringer, but due to some injuries he got on the field as a starter mid way through his first season. He didn't get many chances to show off what he was capable of in the passing game that season. But, he did show his big play ability with two punt returns for touchdowns in the same game against rival Texas. After that he was a starter for both wide receiver and kick returner for his next three years at Baylor. In high school, he was an all around athlete, so he was put in at all positions at different times. He was mostly used as a wide receiver on offense, a kick returner for special teams and on defense safety. Due to his ability to catch the ball as a receiver he managed to set school records in receiving yardage, all purpose yard and interceptions during his four years. But, due to some less than great competition at times, he was not as highly recruited as he should have been, plus in high school his grades were not great. He was raised in a family full of University of Florida alumni, so, naturally, he found himself cheering for the Florida Gators throughout his early years. As a high school football player, he dreamed of suiting up for the Gators and playing in front of a stadium full of 90,000 fans, but was he good enough? As the recruiting process progressed, Andrews was picking up offers left and right from universities across the country. There was one offer that continued to evade him, the University of Florida. That would soon change though. It was his senior season, and Andrews was warming up for a game to clinch the division championship. His coach called him aside and told him he had a surprise for him during the game, but wouldn’t say what it was. Fast forward to game time, and Andrews’ coach calls him over just before he heads out on the field to tell him he has a special visitor, gesturing towards the stands. It was the University of Florida’s head football coach. He had traveled to the game specifically to scout Andrews. Following a strong performance by Andrews, he was offered an athletic scholarship at his dream school, which he immediately accepted. Not only are canadian football rules different, the academic system in Quebec is completely different from everywhere else in North America. For a guy like Marc Hamel, that meant three different schools. After finishing high-school at the age of 16, most CEGEPs post-secondary schools were open to take him in, although none were actively pushing to recruit him. He was a big guy with motivation, but nothing out of the ordinary. Hamel chose the Trois-Rivières Diablos, because it was a first division team but also because he had family in the area to take him in. There, he started to really stand out amongst the other Offensive Liners in Quebec. After getting his two-year pre-university degree, all universities were after him. It came down to the two biggest and most successful teams in Quebec : the Carabins de l'Université de Montréal and the Rouge et Or de l'Université Laval. Both promised him the best training and coaching money can buy and a lot of playing time. Story has it that Hamel finally had to flip a coin to make a decision, but neither him nor the team he finally chose (UL - Rouge et Or) has ever confirmed whether it was true or not. RE: (S25) - PT 3 - Early Decisions - SnowyWolfz - 10-23-2020 Price had been to college cause it was essentially free for him, he was in the army and they would pay for it. He also didn't really seem any harm not to, go get a degree and be able to play football? It was no brainer for him. He happened to be in Florida at the time, and he liked the Gators quite a bit, so he decided to go there and get onto the team. They took Price in pretty quick cause of his readiness, along with his intelligence. He wanted to be a safety and nothing else, the Gators were pretty contempt and okay with it. Price had been a safety back in high school, but since he was in the army, or a special branch at least, there wasn't much info about it. He broke into the roster pretty well, he fit in with most of the other players. He was a pretty damn good safety, helping the Gators secure many wins along with a good amount of tackles. They managed to win a couple of championship games as well, their team being in the SEC. The Gators highly spoke of Price ever since then, even after he was gone off of their team and the roster. Price had gotten quite a few awards whilst playing for the Gators, he had a great couple of seasons when he was there. Prior to being drafted into the league, though, Albert wanted to stay close to home for school. He had offers from several FCS and Division II schools to play for them. Despite receiving only one FBS football scholarship offer from the University of Connecticut, Ruschmann always wanted to play for his state's university, Rutgers. He would take his chances and walk-on to the football team there. In the fall of 2035, Ruschmann would attend the first of several open tryouts for the Scarlet Knights football team. Coach Greg Schiano was already familiar with Ruschmann from recruiting and was glad to see him at tryouts. After impressing both current coaches and players, Ruschmann earned a spot as a defensive end on the team. While he was redshirted for the 2035 season, Ruschmann was very eager to get out on the field and show what he could do. After sitting out for a year, Ruschmann earned a spot in the defensive rotation. With each game, he made the most of his opportunities by generating pressure, sacks, and turnovers. Eventually by his senior season, Ruschmann was voted team captain and was regarded as one of the better players at his position in the nation. From humble beginnings to the national spotlight, Ruschmann remained a homebody nonetheless. He was certainly an athlete, though a big knock on him was the small town competition. As such, he didn't get much in the way of D1 offers. Mason wanted to stay in state though, so he enrolled and signed on with Division III powerhouse UW-Whitewater. Like most other underclassman at Whitewater, he sat his freshman season. He got some backup return duties and a few snaps in blowout games. His second season didn't yield a ton of playing time either. He earned the starting spot in the return game, but an early injury derailed the season. After a long road to recovery and some new lifestyle habits, his junior year saw him in the starting safety role finally. After finally breaking into the starting 11 on defense, Mason had a dominant two seasons. Since grade school, he has always been a natural and reading a quarterback and where they were going to throw the ball. As the talent got better and better, it became more difficult to do. Only the best of the best can still do it at the top level of competition. The only real positional "transition" was if Blaylock was moved into the slot or the box. He spent all of middle school and high school in a safety net sort of role, often being the last line of defense for his team. In college, the Warhawks had enough speed on the corners to allow some creative freedom. Code: 253 words RE: (S25) - PT 3 - Early Decisions - Mooty99 - 10-23-2020 Jackie took somewhat of a different route to football than most people. Growth up as a merchant's son in the north English town of Whitby, know for it fishing and it reputedly haunted monastery football was far from his mind. Even when he came to America (definitely not because he was suspected of being Jack the Ripper) sport was not the reason. However one fateful night Jackie watched his 1st super bowl at a neighbours on his home on Statten Island and despite previously thinking it was a display of surperb owls he fell in love with the beautiful game of football. This new found love of football and a sudden strong desire to play led him to move to Pennsylvania to pursue that goal it of course was not to avoid a debt related dual with Jim the Vampire. Once in Pennsylvania Jackie supported himself initially working in a local bar that he seemed to own though no one was sure why (he definitely didn't murder the owner) He was then able to join Penn State to nominally study business but mainly to follow his dream of playing football. Jackie tried out at a walk on and was noticed straight away with his amazing and almost unnatural strength and speed. He went straight to the main team after a series of mysterious disappearances and the rest is history. WC 229 RE: (S25) - PT 3 - Early Decisions - puolivalmiste - 10-23-2020 SHL PT |
