RE: (S25) - Ultimus Week - ajtigger - 11-15-2020 8. I am going to make two cases for players that should win awards this season, both within the DSFL. The first is for WR of the year. I think that the choice has to be obvious and the award should go to Messi of the Portland Pythons. The case for Messi hangs on two key statistics. The first is the amazing eight touchdowns that Messi scored this season. Not only did this lead the league, but Messi was on a team that only had 13 passing touchdowns on the season. That's right Messi accounted for over 60% of his teams touchdowns through the air. In addition to the insane TD numbers, Messi also had eighty eight total receptions which again was good enough for first place in the league. Messi moved the chains so many times for his team this season and is a big reason why the Pythons finished .500 on the season. Another reason to vote for Messi comes from his main competition, Zach Crossley. Crossley had many costly drops during the season and also was able to pad his stats in the final two games of the season that really meant very little to Myrtle Beach. While I do think missing the playoffs may help Messi, I still believe he deserves to win the award during this offseason. The other award I want to stick my neck out for is my own teammate Mcjimmerson for DSFL TE of the year. Mcjimmerson dominated the tight end ranks this season with 770 receiving yards to go along with four touchdowns. Both of these leads the league from the TE position. However, there is also the consideration of the offense that McJimmerson was on for the season. Myrtle Beach had two wide receivers that had reached the DSFL max in TPE. This means that Mcjimmerson had to fight for every target he received. Still he wound up leading the team in total receptions. Mcjimmerson also contributed in the return game, featuring as the Buccaneers lead return man for a few games this season. While his pancake numbers are not overly impressive, I truly believe that it is not enough to detract from his gaudy numbers in the receiving game. Mcjimmerson was a key piece on what wound up being the best team in the regular season in the DSFL. Voters should have no hesitation in voting him the TE of the year. Vote for Messi and Mcjimmerson this awards season. 16. Similar to last season, I will make a case for Thor to win the DSFL GM of the year for his work with the Myrtle Beach Buccaneers. The first and best case that can be made is simply looking at the success of the team this season. The Buccaneers finished with the best record this season and had earned homefield advantage for the playoffs. Thor did this in a very unconventional way, building a pass first offense in the run heavy DSFL. He did this by building an extremely strong receiving core coming out of the DSFL S24 draft. The trio of Reed, Crossley and Mcjimmerson become a threat to any team that lined up against the Buccaneers. In the S25 draft Thor was also able to secure Ozymandias who turned into an absolute workhouse this season in Myrtle Beach. The offense was easily one of the most powerful in the DSFL and that is a credit to fantastic team building. The success doesn't stop on the offensive side of the ball for Thor. He also found great prospects in last seasons draft with the combination of Teddy and Hoffman in the secondary. Both now capped players in the DSFL, they loomed large over the secondary, helping Myrtle Beach be one of the best defenses in the league. In addition to prior drafts, the waiver wire is where Thor made the biggest impact this season. He and our co-gm saw a need at the defensive line. They aggressively went out and acquired rookies to help strengthen the team down the stretch. It worked as the Buccaneers wound up securing home field by finishing with the best record in the DSFL. 29. The unsung position that I want to highlight today is none other than the kicker position. Myrtle Beach's kicker is a key piece of the locker room and we could not love Bloomfield anymore. Bloomey was an absolute top performer this season. He lead the league in Field goals made with 26 hit this season. He also was perfect on extra points this season hitting 34 out of 34, and becoming the only kicker in the league to kick in every game and remain perfect. If his accuracy was not enough, Bloomey as hit a 57 yard field goal this season. This ties the record for the longest kick in DSFL history and it could not have excited our locker room more. Not only a dominant kicker, but Bloomey was also a dominant punter this season. He lead the league with a 46.3 yard punt average and again had an absolute boomer of a kick, 71 yards. Hey was an instrumental piece to so much of what Myrtle Beach accomplished this season. Off the field, Bloomey is also a well loved player in the locker room. The team is always calling out his stats and excited when he contributed to the scoreboard. He also was sure to join in on any other teammates successes over the course of the season. Kickers and punters do not normally get a lot of love but they do not normally contribute that much to their team. Bloomey is a true member of the Buccaneers and our season would not have been as successful or as fun without him in our locker room. RE: (S25) - Ultimus Week - dogwoodmaple - 11-15-2020 16) Create an argument for your own player, or for someone else on your team, as to why they should be nominated for awards. Lay out their stats or compare them to other contenders. Make a convincing case. When it comes to picking an MVP of the league, the only choice is Norfolk's own RB Mr. Forty-Two. It seems that this award is sometimes hitched to one of the elite teams and can often turn into a de facto "Best Player on the Best Team" award. But whether you look at stats, importance to the team, or overall performance, the choice is clear. First off, Forty-Two was essentially our entire offense this season. He had 92.3% of our entire rushing yardage total and finished the season with a league-leading 1,638 rushing yards. He also scored 8 of our 13 offensive touchdowns this season and he was an enormous part of those drives that did not end up with him in the endzone. His numbers also jump off the page when you compare him to the rest of the league. He's leading in rushing yardage by 150 yards and that's even more impressive when you account for opposing defense's being able to sell out to stop the run. Simply put, every team we played knew we were giving it to Forty-Two and they still couldn't stop him. He was the main engine behind our offense and we would have been notably worse without him on our roster. He's the definition of Most Valuable Player and has had one of the most statistically impressive statlines in recent memory. And here's the easy way to be sure of this - if we were a playoff team, there'd be no discussion about this. The only thing holding Forty-Two back is our record, which he did everything in his power to change. Don't hold that against him. (273 words) 18) Choose your favorite non-playoffs game of this season, whether your own team or another. Explain what was so special and why the winner ultimately came out victorious, including key players and moments. Week 3 saw our Norfolk Seawolves take on the defending Ultimini Champs in a rematch from the title game last season. We started the year 0-2, only scored seven points total in the first two games, and were outscored 41-7. Things were looking less than bleak and we were prepared to get absolutely throttled by the champs. To be honest, our primary goal wasn't even to win - we simply wanted to put together four solid quarters of football and avoid another embarrassing blowout. We did that and more, though. To start, Emi Rune found Lalo Salamanca in the endzone for a 15 yard score just three minutes into the game and we had our first lead all season. Our defense kept London out of the endzone on their next few drives, forcing them to kick a 25 yard field goal to cut the lead to 7-3. Rune then round Alexander Johnson for our second touchdown of the game, this one a 10 yard score. We were up 14-3 and looked less like a bumbling JV team and more like a postseason contender. While London did answer with a touchdown of their own, we were able to cobble together enough offense to kick a pair of third quarter field goals, which gave us a 20-10 lead. Things started to get a little nervy, though, as we hit a brick wall in the fourth quarter. We felt our lead slip away and were convinced we choked away our first win of the season. London cut the lead to 20-17 with 8:00 left in the game, but we found a way to get the job done! We held on for a 20-17 victory and the win was especially notable for me as I notched my first career sack. Emi Rune had a career day with 2 TD and a 110 rating and we had three separate players catch at least three passes. It was a wire-to-wire victory and one of the absolute highlights of our season. (334 words) 25) Imagine that the league’s Pro Bowl included a skills competition similar to the NFL. What sorts of games could you see being implemented? Which players do you think would perform the best in ultimate frisbee, dodgeball, or other games? Which conference would come out on top? The first new game I would implement is an eating contest. Each team would nominate one player to see who could eat the most pancakes in a 10 minute span. This would show not only determination and drive, but also give some of the linemen some games they could excel in. I think Alexander Franklin, Ananda Adyan, and Primo Berto would dominate the competition in this task. I'd also suggest we add a full league game of Risk to the Pro Bowl. That way, the less athletic, less strong, and slower players could excel. Brains rule in this task and this could even be a good chance for kickers to prove their mettle. Finally I'd add a more traditional Pro Bowl competition - a good, old fashioned tug of war. While the NFC might have the better players, better teams, and better results, they cannot stand a chance in the tug of war competition. Good luck stopping Ajay Krishna, Cobra Kai, Mr. Forty Two, and Richard Leaking in a battle of pure strength. In fact, in all three of these new games I have no doubt that our South Division would reign victorious. In Norfolk, we might not have the best individual players but we have brute strength, knowledge of board games, and the ability to eat our weight in pancakes. With the Ultimini also in our firm grasp, our division will hold the championship and Pro Bowl games title at the same time. The NFC might take back the Ultimini next year, but it may take years before they win back the Pro Bowl Belt. (265 words) 30) Reflect on the two expansion teams. How did their first seasons go? What were their key strengths and weaknesses, and how are they poised to improve in seasons to come? While both Berlin and New York finished with similar records this year (3-13 vs. 4-12), their seasons were much more different than their final outcomes might suggest. First off, Berlin absolutely limped to the finish line and lost a season-high eight straight games to end the year. New York, on the other hand, was much more consistent with their mediocre play. It was also a tale of two different offensive styles that each team employed. For Berlin, they buttered their bread with the ground game. They were second in the league in rushing yards and were led by the two-headed monster of Danny King and Joseph Petrongolo who were pretty even in their yardage totals. Their passing game was anemic to say the least, with Kapercolin finished last in the league in passing yards. For New York, on the other hand, they were not only much more balanced on offense but were led by a singular figure - Ashley Owens. Owens led the league in rushing attempts, rushing yards, and was an all-purpose yardage monster for the Silverbacks. They also got relatively equal contributions from Sam Howitzer at the quarterback position, who certainly outplayed Kapercolin. Going forward, Berlin needs to find an aerial attack or else they will continue to founder. New York simply needs to continue to stockpile good players and they'll be on the right track. With just a few tweaks each, I could see both teams competing for the playoffs in just a year or two. One of the two teams in the expansion of the league in s15, the copperheads strived to build and extremely young and talented roster that would grow together in the league and eventually win the championship game. They assembled a young set of expansion picks, along with a recreating coGM to be their QB of the future, they then started trading straight away to build more future draft capital, tanking their own reserves to build and extremely solid foundation. During the s16 draft their second they made 3 first round picks. Picking up the controversial Dermot, who had fallen to mid round before Austin selected them and the. They also made 2 rookie picks with Tomasnz and Mooty, both of whom would help creat a strong and friendly lockerroom while also adding that 24 hour feel you get when you draft euros. From a draft class of only 16 players they managed to net 4 highly active players as well as their Co GM, their ability to build through making strong drafting decisions was immediately on display. The first season was an surprising and total disaster. They failed to win a game and the team easily landed the first overal pick for the s17 draft. Throught hat first season though a number of people in the team started to be recruited by Adam and JoK in order to increase the warroom competency as well as the activity in the room. Season 17 started with total calamity, with one of the great league controversies, #resimgate. A number Austin players (although with some others across the league, but especially significant for Austin) were found not to have been updated. A resim was decided on, and Austin recorded their first ever franchise win during that SIM run. However as veteran users will know, this was all undone. And Austin had to wait another sim to record a win. By the time the post season if s18 rolled around Austin had shaken it's easy beat status, and even managed its first playoff birth. Likewise s19 Austin turned around a disastrous start and managed to claim a playoff spot on the final day of the season. However in both s18&19 Austin were eliminated first round in the back of making the playoffs with losing records.. that would all change in S20.. The fairy tale came to a surprisingly quick end with the Austin cooperheads going the distance in only it's fifth season of playing. Winning it all against the highly fancied Wraiths. And the proved to the league it was no fluke with a return to the finals the following season, although this time leaving with a runner up ribbon instead if the ultimate prize. Quote:22) Make a scouting report for any of the ISFL or DSFL draftees. Show their stats, abilities, TPE, highlights, or totally fraudulent mail-in ballots. Whatever rookies get up to these days. (200) Scouting report for Chet Larson, player manager Tomasnz. Chet Larson is a linebacker that takes the balanced archetypes to the extreme, finishing the season with 4 attributes over 70, with another (hands) near its build maximum. He has shown this on the field as well making starts as a traditional edge rusher as well as at both Sam and Mike linebacker, and therefore finishing as the team leaders in sacks, putting up contributions in tackles with a high ratio of tackles for loses, and in the passing game as the she area zone coverage player with passes defenced and even interceptions. He has a nose for big plays with 3 defenaive player of the game awards for the season and even a safety. As a player manager Tomasnz is almost as rounded as the player he represents. A great locker room presence always willing to build on the conversations happenings whether about music, film, TV, books or sports, or even...the SIM. But he is also adapt at creating lockeroom activity and pulling team mates into the conversation with both a conversational and inclusive style of interaction. Warning that all goes out the window when rugby is discussed where he becomes a typical arrogant kiwi. Based in the UK timezone he also adds a diamession of 24 hour activity to any lockerroom. In terms of activity on the site, he is a sim league veteran on his first recreate and significant user on the sister site ShL, he won't be max earning like some of these new rookies out to prove themselves to the league, he is a confident and consistent earner and will be able to create a strong player to contribute to which ever team drafts him. RE: (S25) - Ultimus Week - LB3737 - 11-15-2020 2) This week will see the S25 Ultimus and Ultimini races begin in earnest. In 800 words or more, recount any of the previous playoff cycles of either league. How did each team arrive at the playoffs? Were there any dark horse or Cinderella teams that went unexpectedly far, or any presumptive favorites that fell flat? How did the title game play out, and which players made their mark on the field? Tell the story of those playoffs as completely as you can. Do not simply recount your own experience in those playoffs or that of a singular team. For my UW task, I will be focusing on the season 24 playoffs, and how they unfolded. In the NSFC, there were two teams that qualified for the playoffs, who were far and away the best teams in the league. The 12-4 Sarasota Sailfish, who qualified for the playoffs with a 12-4 record and boasted the leagues best offense in yards per game, led by their star quarterback Dexter Banks II, who led the league in passing yards and touchdowns, aswell as interceptions. Sitting atop the division were the probable favourites for the championship, the 14-2 Colorado Yeti, who had the leagues best offense in points per game, and 2nd best defense in points allowed per game. The rest of the division was fairly lacklustre and it was the Chicago Butchers who took the 3rd playoff spot of the division, despite having the 2nd worst offense in PPG and 3rd worst defense in PAPG, in the whole league. It was the Yellowknife Wraiths who rounded out the divisions playoff spots despite winning just 6 of their 16 games that season. On the other hand, the ASFC was much more exciting, with just 2 games between the divisional leaders and last place in the division. The top 4 ASFC teams all had 9-7 records. In 3rd place the Outlaws managed to scrape into a playoff spot thanks to a final week win over the Orange County Otters, which, had they lost would have knocked them out of contention. Those same Otters finished 2nd in the division thanks to one of the backs in the league, Tatsu Nakamura, leading the teams offense. Sitting pretty atop the division were the San Jose Sabercats, who had won their final game of the season over the NOLA Second Line by one to take the divisional title away from New Orleans, who finished fourth in the division. The first of the two NSFC quarterfinal matchups saw the Wraiths go to Colorado in a match that finished much, much closer than anyone would have envisioned. The 6-10 Wraiths were actually leading going into the fourth quarter but Yeti kicker levelled it up with 10 minutes to go in the fourth and sent the game to OT. In OT the Wraiths were just starting their drive when a huge sack from Immanuel Blackstone set them back 11 yards for a 3rd and 21 which they failed to convert and punted away. From there it was relatively easy for the Yeti who drove downfield and managed to kick a game winning field goal. In the second of the two NSFC matchups the Butchers went to Sarasota to play the Sailfish, another game which finished closer than expected. Both quarterbacks had a great game, with O’ Donnell throwing for 253 yards and 2 TDs, however it was Banks who came up in the clutch after having a great game. He threw for 234 yards and 2 TDs, and with just 3 minutes left in the fourth and the scores being all tied up, rushed in a 1 yard touchdown which would eventually be the game winner. Onto the first ASFC quarterfinal, the Outlaws went to play the Sabercats in San Jose. Arizona put up a very underwhelming performance, especially on the offensive side of the ball, combing for just 228 total offensive yards, with Jay Cue throwing for 101 yards and an interception on 16 completions. San Jose went about their regular business, playing efficiently and picking up a nice simple win to advance to the next round 20-10. In the second ASFC matchup the New Orleans Second Line went to Orange County to take on the Otters. Orange County took the lead early on in the first quarter thanks to a 3 yard touchdown run by Keynel McZeal and never relinquished it, winning the game 31-21. Orange County legend Franklin Armstrong showed just why he was so good in this game, throwing for 264 yards and 2 Touchdowns giving him a 104.2 QB rating on the day. In the NSFC conference championship the Sailfish travelled to Colorado to challenge the Yeti. In what was a closely fought contest the whole way through, the Yeti managed to take home a victory by a scoreline of 24-20. Banks will have been disappointed with himself as he managed to throw for 355 yards but couldn’t find the endzone, whilst for Colorado, McDummy would have been relieved after having a pretty poor performance, throwing 2 interceptions, however recording a touchdown on the ground. The ASFC conference game was a relatively boring one, finishing up 17-3 in favour of the Sabercats, the lowest scoring game in all the playoffs. It was partly thanks to their sheer discipline that San Jose managed to take this one, as they didn’t commit a single penalty all game. After all those games, that meant the stage was set for the big match, the Ultimus, where the San Jose Sabercats would travel to take on the Colorado Yeti. At the end of the first half it looked like despair for McDummy and the Yeti, who were 17-3 down courtesy of a 62 yard pick six by Matt Krause and a 1 yard passing touchdown from Monterey Jack to Rando Cardrissian. However, the Yeti began to mount a comeback in the fourth quarter thanks to a Wolfie McDummy touchdown pass to Earl Sauce and then a tackle for a safety by De Pengu. However it simply was not enough, and the San Jose Sabercats took home the S24 Ultimus, victorious over the Yeti by a scorline of 17-12 928 words by my count RE: (S25) - Ultimus Week - mee - 11-15-2020 SHL Affliate (About 3 TPE maybe?) RE: (S25) - Ultimus Week - frazzle14 - 11-15-2020 SHL PT 29) A lot of people don’t appreciate offensive lineman but at Kansas City we do. After last seasons DSFL offensive lineman of the year, Clay Stallworth, was called up straight to the ISFL, many people wondered how the KCC line would cope. Well as it turned out they would cope just fine as they had two of the best offensive lineman in the DSFL in Felix Archstone and Connor Quigley waiting to come into the spotlight. Both players being the bookends and only human players on the offensive line they both played extremely well. Quigley went throughout the whole season without giving up a single sack. Archstone only gave up one sack which are both incredible achievements through a fourteen game season. I believe that either of them have a good chance at winning offensive lineman of the year. The users behind each player are definitely two of the best people I have met since I came into the league. Glims being the KCC GM after only a short time in the league just shows how committed and well respected he is this league. WhatAmUs is a great dude, he’ll tell you himself that he went inactive for a little while after he got drafted but now he’s a capped DSFL player, a team captain and one of the most active and well liked people in the KCC locker room. RE: (S25) - Ultimus Week - Jason - 11-15-2020 Code: 7) The playoffs have finally arrived. Choose one playoff team that is not your own from either league and recount how they got here in 400 words or more. What challenges and hurdles did they face in the regular season? Did they cruise into home field advantage, have to fight off contenders for the wild card, or sneak in on obtuse indexing rules? Are they led by MVP players on offense, or is a stifling defense the engine to their success? Don’t be afraid to go deep. The team I'm going to choose is the Colorado Yeti. They had a fantastic season where they finished 13-3, giving them the best record in the entire league. They gave up the least amount of points in the league with 324, finished with the best road record and tied with for the best record at home. They ended the season on a four game winning streak, which saw them clinch the first seed and get to play the fourth seed Baltimore Hawks in the quarterfinals. It was a pretty easy season for the Yetis as they cruised into the top spot. They started the season with a 1-1 record after two games but then went on to win 8 straight games to get to 9-1. In that span they won a couple of tight games but overall, most games saw the Yetis with a pretty good margin of victory. The overall team stats back up their impressive record. They were the number one ranked defense in the league in terms of points allowed per game at 20.3. They lead their conference in fewest yards per game and were second in their conference in rush yards allowed per game and passing yards allowed per game. Overall, they were extremely impressive on defense considering some of their best performers were rookies. Their rookie free safety Joel Drake had a phenomenal year, making 133 tackles, 2 fumble recoveries, 3 interceptions and 19 pass defenses. Another rookie, linebacker Melvin Murder-Moose had 85 tackles, 10 sacks, 4 interceptions and 19 pass defenses. Their rookies really stepped up and helped their already good defense to make it a great one. On the offensive side of the ball, wide receiver William Lim had an outstanding season, totaling 90 catches for 1443 yards and 15 touchdowns, which is tied for the best in the league. The Yetis ran with a duo running back committee, with Richard Gilbert running for 1004 yards and 11 touchdowns, while Darrel Williams had 955 rushing yards and 5 TDs. Finally, the heart of the team, quarterback Wolfie McDummy had an exceptional season finishing second in the league in passer rating and second in completion percentage. He had 4383 passing yards with 28 touchdowns and 6 interceptions (the least in the league). Ultimately, when you have an offense that is very organized and doesn't turnover the ball a lot, mixed with a defense that makes a ton of plays and produces a lot of takeaways, it is a great recipe for success. Code: 418 words Code: 9) It’s always important to look forward to the future. Examine your team, and in 400 words or more, talk about how they can improve themselves to get a stab at trophy contention next year. Are you loaded with draft capital for the next draft? Do you have plenty of cap space to sign free agents? Go through the roster and note the different strengths and weaknesses, and how you think those will change over the next few seasons. How should your team adapt? As this has been my first time making the playoffs in my ISFL career with the Honolulu Hahalua, I want a taste of more. This season we finished as the 4th seed in the ASFC but we're unfortunately bounced out of the playoffs in the first game by the Orange County Otters, 27-6. I think we have a lot to prove in the upcoming seasons and it all starts with this offseason. To start if off, I think that special teams is our biggest strength. We have what some would say is the best kicker in the league. This is an extremely important asset to our team as Venus Power is very efficient went kicking field goals and pushes offensives back with his incredible punts. Our defense wasn't the best this season, as we gave up the second most points in the league. Some games this season we we're absolutely fantastic on defense but some other games, we we're dreadful. We just need to find a little more consistency and we'll be fine in the long run. Our defense is extremely young, I'd say probably one of the youngest in the league. The oldest player is Big Edd, our defensive tackle, who was drafted in season 22. We have a ton of young linebackers, defensive backs and defensive linemen that have only played one or two seasons in the ISFL. I think we're going to be a real threat in the future when it comes to defense if we can keep all of our young studs. On the offensive side of the ball, we scored the second most points in the league. I do think however, that our decline on offense will come sooner rather than later. Our offense is basically in their prime, which sucks because the defense is still young and learning. If both sides of the football were in their prime, I know for a fact this team would be amongst the best teams in the league. I do think we need some help on offense side of the ball however. Our wide receivers (besides Podolak) and tight ends aren't the highest rated players in terms of TPE earned. If we could add a few more pieces when it comes to free agency and trades without having to give up a lot on defense, I think we can really make a jump in the next few seasons to where the Hahalua are amongst the conference leaders with the best teams. How should your team adapt? The New York Silverbacks have just begun their second offseason in their franchise's history. And they enter it in a very prime position to make a considerable playoff push in just their second season. Lining up in the QB position next season for the Silverbacks will be Sam Howitzer who is entering his just sophomore season in the ISFL. The QB is looking to improve on his somewhat below average previous season with the Silverbacks. In terms of yards the QB put up only 3872 yards which slotted him in as the 10th overall QB in that statistic. Though on the positive end he had a relatively good completion percentage of 57% and a pretty average touchdown to interception ratio of 27 to 14. Though the low yardage can be easily explained by the Silverbacks dominant running game who will be certainly looking to repeat their performance in the upcoming season. The team's running game last year was spearheaded by the veteran Ashley Owens who carried the rock for many of the Silverbacks drives. Though in the upcoming season the veteran will almost certainly be sharing carries with free agent signing Captain Rogers. The two running backs will certainly become headaches for every defense that they match up against in the future. Their receiving core is destioned to become an absolute monster of a unit in upcoming season. Tied together by the tight end Leon McDavid, their wide receiver core consists of the trio of young upcoming stars, Jackson Kingston, Sean Snyder, and Harley Fank. The core, barring any free agent moves or trades, is bound to become a dangerous force for upcoming seasons. Moving on to their defense, the keystone of their defense lies with the veteran defensive tackle Bubba Thumper. The rest of their defensive line is home to various other middle of the pack players. Though the rest of their defense is all pretty young overall. The lineup has only just one player with over 5 years experience. Which is both a blessing and a curse as it means that while the players haven't reached their true peaks just yet, they're definitely on that direction. Following that chain of thought, their defense will be tied together for years to come by the young Hank Winchester. Even their special teams is currently in a good place. The Silverbacks managed the grab kicker and punter Dougie Smalls back in the expansion draft, and the kicker and punter is expected to repeat his already pretty great season with the Silverbacks for years to come. He didn't quite have the year he did in the DSFL when he won rookie of the year there, most notably missing having any forced fumbles and fumble recoveries, but he still beat out all other rookie defensive tackles in stats this season. Then when you compare him to other defensive lineman, he falls in 3rd behind 2 Defensive Ends when you in the sacks category, something Defensive Ends have a decent advantage over on Defensive Tackles. Keep in mind this is all while Goat Tank is playing on an Orange County Otters defense which features one of the Defensive Tackles who will probably end up winning Defensive Tackle of the Year this year, meaning Goat Tank got these stats while sharing the line with the best Defensive Tackle in the game. This was probably the deadliest 2 man duo on the defensive line any time had this season, and because of that, Goat Tank should be up for the award with the kind of rookie season he had. Code: 227 words 29) Some positions are still under appreciated. Talk about the offensive linemen and/or special teamers on your squad. Show how they have contributed to the team, both on and off the field, and why they deserve recognition. I'm going to talk about the defensive tackle. Right now defensive ends get all the sexy stats because they play on the edge of the line and don't get double or triple teamed as often. Not to mention they can do some fun pass edge rushing and get around their guy easier. Meanwhile Defensive Tackles are going up against normally 2 big fat uglies on the offensive line and their only hope is to really bull rush them. Add in the fact that you have running backs hitting your lane, you have to really pay attention to getting guys so they don't get any rush yards. You'll hardly ever see defensive tackles getting those tackles for losses because of the rare chance they can get through the line and also hit the running back behind the line at the same time. However, defensive tackles are the glue that hold the defense together. If they can stop the run effectively, it's all about the pass at that point and that can be a little easier to shut down if the QB is named Lamar Jackson. But defensive tackles get no love, when was the last time you saw one win defensive player of the year or even MVP? Hardly ever. Goat Tank just got nominated for it in the DSFL but didn't even come close despite having one of the best years a defensive tackle has ever had. They should get more love. Code: 242 words 30) Reflect on the two expansion teams. How did their first seasons go? What were their key strengths and weaknesses, and how are they poised to improve in seasons to come? The two expansion teams with the Berlin Fire Salamanders and the New York Silverbacks finished right at the bottom of the league as really expected. Berlin finished with a 3-13 record while New York finished at 4-12. The most impressive thing though is New York lost their first 10 games of the season and then finished 4-2 to finish the season, so there's some hope there for them that they might be a bit stronger next season. Berlin on the otherhand won their games early and then finished the season going 0-8 so not really the high note they could go out on like New York was able to. Berlin actually had one of the better running games in the league, but just completely was destroyed when it came to the passing game. They really need to pick that up. Meanwhile New York just wasn't that great on offense in general, but was better on defense that Berlin was. Basically Berlin has a lot of problems on both sides of the ball they really need to tackle, where as it would appear New York is probably in better shape between the two. This might also have something to do with Berlin picking their name to be the Fire Salamanders and just for that they likely had some decent karma coming their way from the universe. Code: 229 words 18) Choose your favorite non-playoffs game of this season, whether your own team or another. Explain what was so special and why the winner ultimately came out victorious, including key players and moments. My favorite non playoff game was in week 4 when the Orange Couny Otters played at the Arizona Outlaws and defeated them 36-30. But this game wasn't an offensive dominance by the Otters by any stretch of the imagination, it was a defensive masterpiece instead. Amazingly enough, this was one game where Goat Tank did absolutely nothing all game except get 1 of his 6 uneccessary roughness calls he's had this past season. He didn't get a tackle or anything, what the hell. However, Prince Vegeta made up for the lack of Goat Tank by getting not one, not two, but three interceptions in the game and also 3 pass deflections. Oh, by the way, he also returned 2 of those interceptions for touchdowns. Who the hecks gets two pick sixes in one damn game? Prince Vegeta does, that's who. We also had a safety happen in that game as well. QB Cue for Arizona finished the game with 1 TD pass and 3 interceptions while Ramza finished with 2 TDs and 2 interceptions. The game came down to the final 3 minutes as the Otters scored the go ahead touchdown and when it looked like Cue was maybe going to get something going, the game completely ends with him getting sacked by Wheezer. The Otters punted 8 times this game just to put in perspective how silly this game was, but it was at least the most entertaining.
