I don't know that this highlight is from a single play (though I do have one within that game), but rather the game as a whole. Week 10 New Orleans Second Line vs. San Jose Sabercats is the defining moment for me on the whole season. To that point in the season, San Jose was 6-3 and playing great football. New Orleans on the other hand was 3-6 and not playing it's best football. San Jose was up 21-0 until NOLA finally got a field goal with 54 seconds left in the half. New Orleans would go on to score 24 unanswered points and come away with a 31-24 win. Not only did the Second Line turn around the fortunes of this particular game, but it turned around our whole season. We got hot, going on to win 6 of our last 7 games and clinching a return trip to the playoffs. The one play that stands out most to me in that specific game was pretty early in the second half. Ben Slothlisberger hit Austin McCormick for a 73 touchdown pass. While the play itself was extremely satisfying to see my teammate old man McCormick outrun the whole defense, it gave our team such a jolt of energy. The defense force two straight three and outs, while the offense scored two touchdowns on the next two possessions. It was such a crazy momentum shift and I feel like I'm normally on the wrong end of it. It felt nice to be on the winning side of a game like this.

I don’t mean to toot my own horn but Remus Roman had easily the biggest highlight of the season. Without a doubt the greatest running back performance in the DSFL happened several weeks ago against the Kansas City Coyotes where he ran for 269 yards and 3 touchdowns on just 5 carries – easily crushing the existing single yard record in the DSFL... A record that Portland Pythons General Manager Southpaw refers to as “Untouchable.” Remus Roman’s performance that night is even more impressive considering just how necessary it was to that victory – without his impressive, huge runs, Portland may have lost that game. Portland won the game 24-21, with Remus being responsible for 21 of those points on his own (with the assistance of a fantastic offensive line, Roman adds himself). Roman quite literally carried his entire team to victory, having 4 runs of 39 yards or more, 3 of which resulted in touchdowns. The victory was the cherry on top of Roman’s performance that night. Though Kansas City would later get revenge in the playoffs against Portland, Roman would again show up, scampering for over 150 yards throughout the night.

Roman’s consistency in the latter half of the season earned him DSFL recognition for player of the match twice (possibly a third when the playoff Player of the Game awards are presented), and significant consideration for DSFL rookie of the year.

One game in particular stands out to me this season and it was a performance for the record books. Remus “The Rocketman” Roman stepped onto the field in Week 8 and was already having a solid season. Prior to this game, Remus had a very good ypc average and was off to a great start in touchdowns. He was even producing in the passing game well for a rookie splitting carries with a veteran back. Roman’s first carry from the line of scrimmage came and he cut back and raced down the sideline for 87 yards for the first touchdown of the game. 7-0 good guys. Kansas City answered with a short touchdown run of their own 5 minutes later making it 7 - 7. Remus took offense to this it seemed and broke off his second run of the game for 54 yards and another touchdown. At this point over 100 yards on two carries with 2 touchdowns, our entire locker room was going crazy and energy was high. End of the quarter came and Xander Creed busted it up the middle for a short touchdown run to tie the game 14-14 with three seconds left in the first quarter (YES ONLY THE FIRST QUARTER). Not long into the second quarter, Remus was give the ball again and again he gashed the Coyotes defense for another 89 yard touchdown to put us up 21-14. Into the second half we went and it was a remarkably quiet quarter outside of Cade York kicking a short field goal to put us up 24-14. In the fourth quarter however, Remus got another couple of carries and again ripped off large gains topping out at 269 yards and 3 touchdowns. The Coyotes ended up making it close with a short touchdown pass at the start of the fourth quarter, but overall, Roman’s record setting day paced us to a clutch win on the day. I can’t say enough about Roman’s performance throughout the year as a rookie. Going into the next year, Remus should be set to break more records and continue to tote the rock like a man possessed.

This season has been full of highlights for me as a user. Both of my teams went from 13-loss, #1 overall pick campaigns to deep playoff runs - the Coyotes are in the Ultimini and the Hahalua are one game away. Perhaps there's no bigger highlight than the Coyotes' first playoff game, though. On the road against the powerhouse Portland Pythons, with Kansas City the underdog riding a 5-game win streak. We had suffered two close and agonizing losses to the Pythons earlier this season, but our team had been growing more throughout the season, with top-tier rookies at WR2, QB, RB2, DT, LB, and CB. We knew that none of that mattered as soon as we kicked off though. We could win - our rosters are similar enough - but we needed to show up. The game started how most pundits expected - Portland's veteran defense stymied our offense, and our defense struggled to contain their attack. The Coyotes clawed back, as they've done all season, and took the lead. The game became a back and forth struggle, with both teams' superstars making play after play. ISFL #1 and #2 overall draft picks Luke Quick and Busch Goose both showed up in big ways. It was the defense, however, that eventually won the game. The young KCC squad held hotshot quarterback to just 159 yards on a 43.6 passer rating and sacked him three times. The result? KCC into the Ultimini.

I am a WR from Hawks. As everyone has noticed, Hawks ended with 0-16 record, and just based on simple mathematical principle, we have tied the worst record in the league. At least it is some league record, so from this perspective, we have outperformed Sailfish and Hahalua, both ranking the first in their conferences. Given our record, the only game that is worth highlighting is the one with the minimum point gap with the winning team. The game Hawks vs. Liberty (31-35) happened at the relatively early stage of the season, when the Hawks still had some good players with more than 1,000 TPEs. After the mid of this season, about five players left Hawks and joined other teams - what a sad story. Well for the Hawks vs. Liberty game, my player scored one TD and reached 101 Yards with five receivings. Messi got 20.2 Yards per receiving, and this number tops the team. I understand that the data may not look very impressive compared to all the other WRs, but considering S27 is the first season for Messi to be in ISFL, the performance is quite acceptable. Eventually, Messi did not help the team to win - well, a football game relies on the contribution from around 20~30 people, so an individual player can only do his best but cannot dominate the results. I hope Hawks can have better records in the next season.

My player Joseph Radetzky had a really good season and there were a lot of highlights for my player. I actually think I had a really good season and could even be close to being a contender for wide receiver of the year award. I had a pretty crazy season where I had 90 catches and I also had 1198 yards and six touchdowns. While the touchdowns are kind of low, there is also not much to be done, since the team itself was not very good overall. In the end, six touchdowns are still fine though. 90 catches was the thing I was most surprised about, since it is not really my goal. With all my speed, having that many catches was unexpected for me, I expected to catch fewer balls but more yards. The yards however was really good, having almost 1200 yards is a really impressive season to me. I am very pleased with it. My favorite highlight was in a game early in the season, where I caught a ball late in the game and managed to score a touchdown that gave our team the lead in the last minute of the game and it was basically a game winning touchdown. There was just such a great moment to help the team win.

My favorite highlight reel moment in this season was Smyth's Week 13 DSFL gameball against the Bondi Beach Buccaneers. I think that this season, Smyth came in with low expectations. However, that was a game that only few veterans can play. Since Smyth was a waiver pick up after the trade deadline, and it was only his second game on the team, it definitely stood out. With 8 tackles, 1 sack, and 1 forced fumble, it was a game to remember. When I created Smyth, I was originally against D-line due to some, ahem, rough experiences with the defensive line in Madden. But after hearing that defensive linemen are in high demand, and since this is not like Madden, I decided to give it a shot. And I do not regret it. Not one bit. It remains to be seen if Smyth can keep up this level of success, but hopefully he will. I know I for one as his creator am looking forward to seeing Smyth hopefully break out in a big way against the Dallas Birddogs in the Ultimini. Let's hope so! Go Coyotes. Dallas, you'd best fear the howl. But yes, that was my favorite highlight reel moment of the season.
