RE: (S32) PT 5 - Bad Call - 2Lzy - 12-11-2021 It was a cold day on the field, you could tell there was something different about this game over the others from the start. Not every team can drive this sort of play out of a player. Doc was not getting the output he wanted that game, every time they played this team they just shut him down. It was first and goal on the 2 yard line. Doc gets called for a penalty, first and goal on the 1. He just can’t figure it out, we go on to lose the game, it's not for lack of trying. Doc takes it personally, he takes it out on the refs and himself. He gets kicked out of the game and fined for the next game, it wasn’t worth it. He gets up the next day and goes right into the film room to prepare for the next time, he will be ready next time. Sure, there's times when you're fuming at a decision and the adrenaline is pumping but after the game, when you're sitting in film review and assessing everything with a cooler head, they've actually made the right call. Worst case scenario tends to be that the call may not have been on-point but you can at very least see why they were able to come to the conclusion that they did. I don't think too many pro's with as many games under their belt as Glenn Smart can really say that, especially in that other league where a bad call seems to take place on a game by game basis. All in all, well done to the officiating team in the ISFL. You guys are killing it. It was my second or third game with the Seawolves. I can't even remember the team and the player who had wronged me, but I remember how angry I was. Wat happened was I catch a pass and the man tackling me tried to rip my helmet off my head. The ref said he missed it. I wanted to fight but my teammates would, succeed in calming me down and I had a great game. I was salty for a couple of days afterwards, but I have almost forgot about what happened. It goes to show how good teammates can help calm each others down. Something brutal like that happens to me again, however I will retaliate to protect myself. Being able to defend yourself is an important part of the ISFL. I come off the edge power rushing shoving the off the tap to the ground coming in hard. when I get chop blocked by the running back. I had so much more momentum going forward I basically just somersaulted over him when he clipped my legs. without even knowing where I was going I somehow rolled into the quarterback shin didn't even knock him down but touched his lower body and out came a flag that gave us a roughing the passer penalty and automatic first down in the very next play you know it they threw that pass again and it was a touchdown game over. Code: 268 RE: (S32) PT 5 - Bad Call - visceralpotamus - 12-12-2021 Refs often do a double take when they notice a turtle lined up at free safety. That double take turns into a shocked expression when they see that this reptile has wheels. This dichotomy between the expectations (and frankly an unfair negative stereotypes of my hard shelled brethren) and when they observe on the pitch results in some.... questionable calls. Often after observing Pasta leap several meters in the air to bat a pass down, or see him use his unstobbale spin move to penetrate opposition backfields, the only way refs are able to reconcile what they see is to throw a flag. Often it is just an opportunity for them to pause and deliberate upon what they saw, but unfortunately it frequently results in manufactured penalties. Indeed, they have been known to concoct stories which explain how the play was made. An interception becomes "pass interference" because they feel the only way I was able to get to the ball first was through the use of the dark arts. |
