RE: (S24) - PT 4 - Trial by Fire - Swanty - 09-04-2020 Swantavius Jones has gone through a lot of change in his short football career. He only picked up a football in college, starting off as a quarterback, owing to attending a weak college and being the son of a former football star, before moving to OL in his final year as he attempted to woo the DSFL scouts by playing a more realistic position for a man of his size. And on arrival in London, he was sent to get some experimental surgery to reduce his body mass by 120 lbs to become their latest cornerback. Jones figured that he was an every week starter given that the team had paid for the procedure, but after a strong first two games, Jones's 'welcome to the league' moment happened in week 3, when he was promptly benched by the management. Sure, the Royals had started well and were prepared to invest in his development, but this was a reminder to the youngster that no one's place in the team is guaranteed, and that he'd need to work day in day out to earn his place. Since that day, Jones has been an ever present, but he's worked harder than ever in training to keep it that way. RE: (S24) - PT 4 - Trial by Fire - Buttersqauch101 - 09-04-2020 I created Joshua Campbell with the reality that people weren’t gonna expect much out of me and my player especially after “star” Defensive Tackle Brayden Ennis went 4th overall just to have a lousy career. To be fair I went from max earner to maxing out tpe at 810 tpe 2 seasons away from retiring him. Campbell was created in a league that is just full of Wide Receivers and star offensive players, just jam packed full of players. And so far I have shown all of the doubters that they are wrong. I’m over halfway to my last players maxed tpe with 415 from the time I’m writing this point task and he’s actually getting solid stats even in the DSFL. Next season Joshua Campbell will be playing with the big boys and the goat Chika Fujiwara with the Baltimore Hawks. As of this moment Campbell is top 5 in the league in receiving yards and 2nd in receiving touchdowns while also being the leader in punt return yardage. When it comes to tpe totals Campbell is currently 3rd in his draft class only behind a trade deadline rookie and a trade deadline QB who keeps recruiting people for tpe :angrilyshakesfist:. All I know is Joshua Campbell will be a competitor in this league for a time to come RE: (S24) - PT 4 - Trial by Fire - Nictox - 09-04-2020 SHL PT RE: (S24) - PT 4 - Trial by Fire - puolivalmiste - 09-04-2020 SHL PT RE: (S24) - PT 4 - Trial by Fire - TheCC - 09-04-2020 As I’ve told everyone here countless times, I was mostly IA for my first DSFL season. I was drafted at something like 71 TPE. After being drafted by the Chicago Butchers, I decided that I was going to turn it around and be an active member of the league (best choice I’ve made in the last year!). I was talking to Bayley, the GM of Chicago, and he told me that if I started earning well, that I would be called up to play corner for the Butchers after my next season. I wanted to be ready for this when the time came, so I nearly instantly became a max earner. I even bought T6 equipment! However, as you know, you can only earn so much… I didn’t even end up reaching the 250 TPE cap in my DSFL career before I was thrown to the wolves of the then NSFL. It was a huge change. Everyone in the ISFL is bigger, faster, and stronger than the players in the DSFL. There was an adjustment period, considering I was still under 300 TPE when my season started. I needed to be better if I wanted to run with the big dogs all season. However, I did everything I could to narrow the gap between me and the better players, including buying T6 again and max earning to the best of my abilities. After that short adjustment period, I turned it around and performed very well. Surprising everyone, I finished the year third in the *entire league* in tackles, and second in PDs among rookies. I was a Defensive Rookie of the Year candidate! Though I only received 7 votes, it was still an honor. I also got a Pro Bowl nod. So don’t give up. Just keep working and you’ll get to where you want to be, sometimes sooner than you expect! 312 words RE: (S24) - PT 4 - Trial by Fire - katarn22 - 09-04-2020 Though Albert Ruschmann's career has been a short one thus far, it certainly has not been an uneventful one. There have been many times already where Albert Ruschmann felt and probably also looked like a rookie. However, one particular one stands out. Leading up to the draft, I was simply trying to be as active of a user as possible, make a good impression on the scouts reaching out to me, and put out some media for a nice payday. I had no expectations of where I was going to go in the draft. Come draft night, I am excited to see where all of my fellow S25 members end up. The first few picks go by and then I hear it. I hear Albert Ruschmann's name get called 5th overall by the London Royals. This truly came as a shock to me and was definitely my "welcome to the league" moment. I had no expectations of even going in the first round, never mind in the top 5. London clearly believed in me and liked me enough to take me that high. That made me realize that things were serious and from that point on, my dedication to the league increased three-fold. While it has definitely been a season filled with learning and getting used to the jump in skill, I continue to improve each and every day. In his mind, switching to cornerback would be no different than any other position he had played so far. Andrews fully expected to hit the ground running and immediately begin locking down the opposing team’s #1 WR. In the London Royals week 7 matchup with the Kansas City Coyotes, Andrews had his “welcome to the league” moment. He found himself facing off against Joshua Campbell, the second overall selection of the ISFL draft. Andrews often found himself trying to bring down Campbell one catch after another, but was unable to keep the receiver from coming down with the reception. Campbell went on to put up 8 catches for 79 yards and was able to get into the endzone once. Andrews was able to harness the frustration he felt from that game and channel it into his training to become the best cornerback he can be. Since then, Andrews has fought his way to the top of the league in passes defended and has not allowed more than 53 yards to the opposing receiver since that game. With his performance so far in S24, many analysts have Andrews listed as a front-runner for DBotY.
