RE: (S30) PT 3 - Short-Term Goals - TheRocheLimit - 08-08-2021

Going into this season I realized that I was nearing a pretty monumental milestone. Somehow, some way the guy was was drafted late in the DSFL draft, late in the ISFL draft, and left unprotected in expansion was nearing the top ten in all time career sacks. Pretty crazy, right?

I also know that Father Time is undefeated. That my time here in this league is not infinite and must, at some point, come to an end. I knew then (at the beginning of the season) and I know now that if I was going to make a push toward the top of the all time sacks list that now was the time.

After an up and down start to the season in the sack department I feel like I've finally hit my stride and I'm firing on all cylinders. Obviously my goal is, first and foremost, to help my team win. We took home an Ultimus last season and we're looking to do it again. One of the big ways I can help my team reach it's ultimate goal is to strike fear into the opposing quarterback. Ideally our team will end up hoisting another trophy or three and I'll end up in the top ten in career sacks. Win-win. It's time to keep pushing.

Without a doubt Carter Knight needs to improve on two things and two things only, completion percentage, and yards. These will not be easy things to improve upon for Carter, as he is currently a fairly weak QB and therefore does not have the arm strength to throw very far, however, as the season progresses Carter Knight plans to heavily work on both accuracy and arm strength. He will do those by using a multitude of strategies. The most obvious one, and the one that will be implemented first is working out at the gym. An easy way to gain mass and muscle is to get BIG, and that's what Carter will be doing these coming weeks. Carter will also be staying late on the practice field with his amazing cast of receivers in order to improve upon chemistry and accuracy. Carter Knight will also be going to arcade games, and shooting footballs into the target from 20 yards away to perfect his accuracy, and in turn his completion percentage. The final thing that Carter will do to finish the season strong and win ROTY will be to take some good 'ol PEDs. These are legal in the ISFL, and with no rules against it, Carter will definitely be taking advantage of it. This final and crucial step will allow for the Kansas City Coyotes to take the 1 seed from the Ducks, and to easily win the Ultimini. Do drugs kids!

In his own opinion, some of Demon Jaxsons stats have been up to scratch after the 10 game point of the season, but some of his other stats have been very below par. For example, Jaxson has 16 tackles at this point of the season and he thinks he could, and should, by far have a lot more than this amount of tackls, even if he were to average 2 per game he would have 20, but his attempts at tackling opposing players have been less than succesful. On the other hand, Jaxson believes that his 6 sacks on the season is a successful amount after 10 games,  even though he definitely believes he could have more, considering he got 6 in his first 6, and hasn't got any in the more recent 4 games. Despite this, he feels that he can still achieve his 10+ sack goal for the season. In another more subtle stat, Jaxson has only 1 missed tackle on the season. For him he feels that this is a good number on the season, as it's only 1 more than the minimum, and if he keeps this pace he'll only have 1 or 2, which would be a career best, or tied best, for Jaxson, and a success on the year.

Travis Scott has most definitely improved from last season, really in every category. But, there are still some areas of his game he hopes to improve upon. First of all, he really wants to try and get open in the endzone more than he currently does. While he has 2 more starts than he did last season, he has scored the same amount of touchdowns. 1. During the offseason he worked on his speed and endurance so that he could be able to get himself open in the endzone more. Secondly, he really wants to get better at blocking so that he can provide value on offense even when he's not out running routes for the offense. He has less pancakes than last season despite more starts, but on the plus side hasnt allowed a sack. He's been improving his strength just a touch to help with that. Thirdly, Scott wants to try and improve his hands and make less drops. Having 3 drops on the year isn't ideal, and Scott really doesnt want to be making any drops if he can help it. In terms of actually improving on these aspects of his game, theres not much he can do anymore besides hope and pray since he just hit the DSFL cap.

The area of Emperor de Pengu’s game I’d most like to improve over the remainder of the season is definitely his on field awareness and general football intelligence. I swear, you watch him on the field, and sometimes it’s like he doesn’t even know what he’s doing out there on the field. Most Offensive Lineman take a certain stance pre-snap, and I have never seen de Pengu drop into said stance. Now some might argue that it’s impossible for him to do so given his lack of knees, but honestly stop making excuses for the damn bird. If he wanted it badly enough, he’d drop down into the stance like every other god damned offensive lineman. Likewise on certain plays it looks as if he just completely ignores the defensive lineman, and is more interested in finding tiny pebbles that may or may not be scattered across the Colorado Yeti field. While I can appreciate that this sort of thing is typical penguin behavior for a bird of de Pengus age, it is hardly befitting of an offensive lineman for a professional football team. I think I speak for the entire organization when I say we love having de Pengu on the team, we’d just like to see a bit more consistency out of him from week to week.

Vincent Jones Jr isn't having the best personal statistical season in S60. He is on pace to finish the regular season with less tackles, tackles for loss, forced fumbles, sacks, interceptions and passes deflected. This isn't bothering Vincent at all, the team is playing solid football this season, his teammates are shining and Vincent is their #1 cheerleader. He wants team success more than personal accolades. So if he could pick one area to improve on coming to the tail end of the season, it would be stacking some more Ws in the New Orleans Second Line win column. But if I had to pick one area for Jones game to improve on, it would be in his pass defense. Last season, Vincent Jones Jr recorded 3 interceptions and 11 passes deflected. This season, at the 10 game mark of S60, Jones has yet to make an interception and has only broken up 4 passing plays. Now, it isn't out of the question for Jones to get back to these kind of numbers with New Orleans final 6 games in the season. With a pick ever other game and getting his hands in the way of the opposing quarterbacks throws every game, he could match last seasons numbers. But more importantly, he would be helping his team win games with a few more big plays from him. Watch out for Jones and his Second Line teammates in this final stretch, they are hungry to win some games and hopefully make some noise come playoff time.

I certainly should consider myself fortunate in terms of being blessed by the sim gods. Not just this season, but the past few seasons I have been near the top of the league in passes defended, one of the main stats for a cornerback. In fact, this season I broke the single game record for most passes defended with 9. That is a very cool milestone for me. However, there is always room for improvement. I would love to win a Cornerback of the Year award. In order for that to happen, though, I would certainly need some more interceptions and definitely some more touchdowns. Obviously the only thing I can do to improve my chances of this is to keep earning that TPE, even though my build is entirely maxed out with this last update.

In order to achieve this, I plan to play ever CB position on the depth chart. With 100 speed, I should be fast enough to cover every receiver on the field equally as well. This means that, theoretically, I should be getting a PD on every pass play as well as multiple interceptions. Why nobody has done this before, I can't say. However I think it would certainly give me a competitive edge over the competition.

If there's one part of my game that I really need to work on, it would have to be ball protection. The foolish turnovers that seem to pop up out of nowhere at the worst possible time is just something that I can personally control that could make our chances of winning improve. This has been one of the most unlucky seasons I've had in my life under center, so I hope all the bad mojo was taken out of my system and we can move forward and close out this season on a high note. We have guys in this locker room that have been at the top of the mountain before, and their desire to regain that spot at the top is something strong, myself included. I expect a lot from myself and from my teammates, I expect to win every single time I take the field. I expect to perform at an elite level every single time I take the field. When these things don't happen, I get frustrated. I think anyone at this level should feel some type of frustration if they don't win, we're professionals chasing a goal that millions wish they had a shot at. The heart in our locker room will be the difference that puts us over the top as this season closes out.

Ten games into the season and the work Madison Hayes put forth in the prior offseason has both massively paid off and also not paid off much at all. With six games to go, Hayes sits at an imposing 4.7 yards per carry, a career high, and continues to put up massive receiving numbers for a running back. She's on pace to eclipse the low bar of 3 TDs that she ended last season with, but only barely, which is the primary goal - get the volume of touches needed and convert that into at least a few more touchdowns to close out the season. Hopefully that momentum for the offense can carry forward into next season when we're ready to return to form. My other short term goal is to fix the fumbling issue suddenly plaguing the former rookie of the year. An update should fix that but it's hard to imagine that will have much impact when it will come so late in to the season. Regardless, I think both goals are attainable with the right sim luck and I'm excited to see if we can get hot to close out the season and also for these to come true.

Halfway home, already?! This season has absolutely flown by. But you know what they say - time flies when you're having fun. And that's the main thing about this season so far for me and my teammates - we're having a ton of fun. Would I like more interceptions and sacks? Of course! But the main thing that I hope to continue is not only winning and getting into the playoffs again, but to continue having the time of our lives in the best locker room in all the ISFL. Whether it's the individual position groups, the coaching staff, or even the rookies and the barn we make them sleep in, everyone on our roster is contributing and having a hell of a season. It all starts at the top with our great front office and the attitude and work ethic that they've helped weave throughout our organization from top to bottom. There aren't many franchises that have as much success, as much fun, and that are as close knit as the New York Silverbacks and that's due to a tremendous amount of work, drive, and heart. I could not think of a better place to be and look forward to the second half of the season. Will we defend our title? I don't know, but I what I do know is that we sure as hell will try! Go Silverbacks!
