RE: (S30) PT 4 - Tough Loss - Hallmonitor_20 - 08-14-2021 It is a 27-27 game in overtime, Baltimore has the ball and they are marching down the field agaisnt long time rival Philadelphia. Gimmy Jarappolo Junior drops back to pass, he has a wide up Quick in the end zone for the win. He steps forward to fire and strike as he's hit from behind. The ball wobbles out and his intercepted by Doy Fieri who takes it 80 yards for a walkoff touchdown. A heart wrenching loss for the Hawks as an unlucky season has another bad break. Heads are low as the Hawk player pile into the locker room and start undressing. That's when team captain Busch Goose steps up and says, "Honk Honk Honk, Honk Honk HOOOOONK". Players are in awe from his beautiful words, a few players were jumping up and down hugging, Luke Quick even started to cry and called his mom to tell her how much he loved her. Busch Goose knew exactly what to say and say it he did. The entire Hawk locker room was ecstatic and ready to go for next week's game. A tough loss to division rival Philly will follow them but they know that they will get them next time and Honk all over them. If we're being honest our expansion buddies, the Sailifish have been better than us for a while, and we still have ways to go before really establishing ourselves as a good team, and really deserving a title. But lets put a hypothetical and maybe we did lose a game against that mysterious rival in a tense OT game. I wouldn't want to lose that type of game with anyone but Honolulu. Having been at multiple 3-13 seasons, sometimes it does get tough to be in a locker room, but the Honolulu locker room is different than anything I have expierenced. Mostly everyone there is able to keep a positive attitude, and just look forward for the upcoming week's games to see if we can win there, rather than resorting to the typical league bs including blaming the sim and pretty much everyone but yourself. I think if I had to name specific people, a few come to mind. Could be just me, cause I realize that as a GM, me going out feeling defeated, will end up having a negative effect on team, so if there is a particularly tough loss, I'll make sure to highlight the people that got nice stats. Theres also hex our hype man, with his linebacker, and his enthuiasm is always contagious. The two teams have been battling for the top spot in NSFC for a very long time, as both teams have been consistent playoff contenders in the conference. When the losses come, however, the mood in Yeti locker room isn't that somber or angry as one would imagine, even if said loss was in a Wraiths game. Yes, there will be some sad or dejected comments from players, and the locker room will see an increase to sad emotes (like :pepeplatypus: for instamce), but the team will move on pretty quickly and return to their normal selves in a short while. This phenomenon is mostly due to this new sim. The introduction of DDSPF 21 saw a dramatic increase in crazy game results in both ways. And while that contributed a lot in raising a lot of Yeti player's blood pressure at first, people got numb to those absurd results as they saw those kind of things happen in a regular basis for a few seasons now. So nowadays when sim screws you hard, people just say "well, there it goes again" and hope that the sim will sway the game in their favor next time. Philadelphia doesn’t really have a rival on the field as we’ve been losing most of the games we’ve played so there’s not much competition as far as that’s concerned. If we were to lose a game in OT to Colorado that would maybe be the closest thing to a heart wrenching loss. In each of our losses, Matt Cross and Jimi DeSoto step up to make sure everyone is standing strong and looking forward to next season. Honestly we’ve had so many heart wrenching, close losses that at this point its just kind of the norm. The sim hates our team with a passion and with our latest games showing a good amount of heart break you eventually just get numb to it and pretty pessimistic. Xavier has had some really poor games this year and to be honest he definitely has been down on his performances. With some actual playmaking this season from him the team could have definitely pulled out some wins, however, he’s been pretty much a ghost for most of the year just garnering tackles but nothing else really substantial to add to the team’s win column. (208 words via Google Docs) RE: (S30) PT 4 - Tough Loss - Number 82 - 08-15-2021 Honolulu doesn't really have a rival. There hasn't been any animosity to or from other teams in the league. I supposed if forced to pick I guess Sarasota might be considered one as they were the expansion team that joined the league along side Honolulu. Another potential option could be New Orleans who were the opponent that knocked out Honolulu in their sole playoff appearance, but then again that probably doesn't warrant rival status. So yeah, I guess Sarasota would probably be the rival in question or at least the closest thing to a rival albeit without much animosity, so a friendly rival of sorts. Probably works since we have the friendly Fishbowl games, but we haven't really had the chance to play against them all that often. Losing is always rough. It's an opportunity lost that you can't replay or get back, but much like anything else it's an opportunity to learn and grow. While it's never nice to lose and sometimes it's difficult not to dwell on it, there's always things to take away form games. Analysing strengths, weaknesses and reviewing processes provide ample information that can be used to continue to develop and grow. It's natural for people to be down, frustrated and annoyed especially after a tough loss, but fortunately we've got a couple of capable leaders on the squad to pick things up and get the team working together to improve. Captains this season are Davriel Lavigne and Eleven Kendrick-Watts who along with veterans on the team can lift the spirits and move things in the right direction. Code: 263 words RE: (S30) PT 4 - Tough Loss - JaytheGreat - 08-15-2021 Since I just joined Portland in the offseason I'm not sure if we have any rivals or not but if I had to pick one it would be Minnesota because they are the best team in our division and in the last couple of seasons they have been standing in our way for a championship. Losing to them in OT is something that has happened this year (or it was very late in the game), and the reaction was pretty draining. Losing to Minnesota makes it that much harder to qualify for the playoffs and that's how it felt to us, but thanks to our GM and our veteran players we got back on track very quickly and was ready to battle in the next week. They told us that it was a set back but doesn't change the outlook of the season as we are still on course to make the playoffs and challenge for a title in the offseason. As for Jay Spears he felt bad about the game as it was him and the defense that couldn't get the job done when it counted. Spears vowed to not let it happen again and the next game he got his 1st career pick 6. |
