RE: (S30) Ultimus Week - Arvot - 08-31-2021

14. Describe your player and/or team’s journey through this latest season. What were the highlights? What were the lower points? What might you have done differently? What are your expectations for next season?

This past season has been a good one for me personally but quite rough for my team. We have had a few unlucky losses and some of our star players left or reached the end of their careers so we missed the playoffs and it felt like the end of that era and the start of a new one. I had my best season in the ISFL so far because I finally got to the point where most of my stats were maxed. I had my most ever tackles with 98 beating my previous best of 73. I felt like I was hoovering up a lot of the tackles after they got first downs so these were slightly padded, but I am a safety and so that is kinda my job. I only missed one tackle all season also, so I was reliable and a great safety net for the team. I also beat my Tackles for Loss record by getting 3 this year. I was being used close to the line of scrimmage and was able to get into the backfield and disrupt plays before they started. These aren’t crazy numbers but I had great pass rushers in front of me who were first in the queue. I imagine these will come from plays where I’m sneaking through unnoticed after the coverage was disguised. I forced a fumble this year too which was cool, but had no fumble recoveries. For the amount of tackles I had I would like to force some more fumbles next season. Hopefully with my competitiveness close to maxed I can improve on these numbers next year. I obliterated my best Sack record, getting 9 this year. I excelled at getting to the QB and tied Griddle for most sacks by a safety this year. I also beat my interception record getting 3 which I was really happy about as I’m used a lot more in run defense as a free safety. I also smashed my PD record getting 13 this year. All in all I had a breakout season and really improved on most of my stats this season. I only wish that my success converted into more success for my team too. It bodes well for next year, as I still have one year of earning until I hit regression. I don’t have much left to put into to be fair, but hopefully with more experience in the league my player can really utilise the stats I have more and put up some great numbers.

25. Imagine your current position was not available to be picked when you created your player. What other position would you have picked, and why?

If I could do it all again I would probably be a running back. This was my first time ever doing any sim league so I was not sure how to do it. I didn’t want to do anything that needed you to be too good as I was unsure if I would be that good but still wanted to give it a go. Safety felt like the position that would be needed even if I wasn’t high TPE and that I could do without knowing too much about it. Turns out I did fine and ended up with half decent TPE. Running back is my favourite offensive position and I would probably try and create the ultimate power back. I would have chosen Desperate Dan as my render who is a character from an old comic called the Dandy. This would have been fun to do as I imagine him destroying linebackers like a Scottish Derrick Henry. It would have made graphics more challenging as he’s a cartoon but I suppose that’s easier in other ways. I think it would have been hard to get a job as a starting running back with how much TPE I earned so it probably wouldn’t have worked out. Maybe I could have been a full back for a bit and then swapped to being a running back once I finally got enough TPE. I might have gotten unmotivated though if I was sitting on the sidelines for most of my career, who knows.

23. Create a billboard, magazine cover, unique trading card, or video game cover depicting a one of the league's stars.

RE: (S30) Ultimus Week - golden_apricot - 08-31-2021

I beleive this fits in the league history sub catagory, if not it fills the passionate one

One of if not the greatest moment in the history of her league is going to be the Season 22 Ultimus between the Colorado Yeti and the Orange County Auditors coming into the game the yeti were eight and five and were second in the NSF see during the regular season or as the Otters were three leading the asfc during the regular season and for one of the more dominant teams in the league so far. In the first round of the playoffs the yeti played the selfish and won comfortably 36 to 14 the sailfish coming in under 500 during the regular season the yeti then fold that up with a close 17 to 16 win over the regular-season champion Yellowknife wraiths making them a surprise team to be in the ultimate final. The Otters on the other hand in the first round of the playoffs beat the SaberCats 16 to 13 in a game that was more comfortable than the final score would suggest in the victory with a 50 to 38 win over the Copperheads. Both teams were coming in sweating somewhat of a hot streak and this game looks to be something that many people are looking forward to if we look at what teams and players were wanting to win the majority of people in the league would have wanted the otters to win, and that being purely because they had their TV writing on it rather than the yeti who really no one put as their eventual champion and playoff predictions. Now moving to the game if we look quickly at the scoring summary we can see why this game became one of the greatest moments in league history in the first quarter of the scoring was light with only a 2-yard touchdown run by Tatsu Nakamura, in that quarter than ended with a 7 to nothing lead from the otters in the second quarter and bringing us into halftime the others were able to put up a second touchdown from humongo and then the yeti were able to tack on a field goal at the end of the quarter bringing us with a final score of 14 to 3 at the end of the first half. At this point it was looking relatively Bleak for Colorado a less talented team going up against a more talented team down 11 at half with not much to go on offense at all to that point. At the beginning of the third quarter Colorado quickly gave the ball back to Orange County who went down the field and were able to punch the ball into the end zone for another set of points bring the score at this point to a combined 21-3 making the game seem completely out of reach for the yeti at this time with the Otters just having to run down the clock and secure the victory. In their final drive of their of the third quarter. The yeti were able to march down and wolfe micdummy was able to punch one into the endzone himself bringing the yeti a little bit closer to the Otters than it looked but still somewhat of a safe game for Orange County just having to run down the clock at this point to secure the win. Orange County got the ball back and instead of really running it down they at one point decided to pass the ball three times in a row resulting in two incomplete passes and then a large sack backing them up to their own 17 to where they were then forced to punt return the ball back to Colorado and that is how we ended the third quarter with a score of 21 to 10 Colorado with the ball and at this point you might say the Colorado had a chance to come back all though they did not have what one might consider to be a powerful offense and Orange County for sure did. That said Colorado got the ball back and they were able to quickly chunk Orange County down the field with a couple of big passes and they were able to go down and actually punch it into the end zone going for two it was converted bringing the score to 21 to 18 and at this point you might see momentum was totally on Colorado side being down by 18 points just a few minutes ago in terms of game time and now they are three points back and have a chance. Pets at Orange County's offense still had the ball and they were able to drive down the field taking off about 6 minutes of game time bring those do forcing Colorado to go down and actually punch the ball into the end zone if they wanted to have a chance to win the game. With four minutes left, Rhoda had the ball and methodically broke down the field a couple of Dick 1819 and 30 yard plays in there before they are able to get down to the Orange County 10-yard Line where McDummy completed a pass to Bishop punching the ball into the end zone with 38 seconds left in the game. After a converted extra point the yeti were now up by score of 25 to 24 coming back from a score that was on the edge of incompatible the yeti were able to put this one in and convert the comeback. With 38 seconds left Orange County was not able to put anything together to come back and put up a field goal and Colorado walked off as ultimate champion one of the greatest moments in league history and likely the greatest comeback just due to the circumstances of this being in the Ultimus final.

So a new stadium in San Jose, eh? Now ideally, it would be great to have a cage with a live sabercat in it! But, they have been extinct for quite a while. So we need to find a way around it! Could we maybe get a Jaguar or something and surgically enhance its teeth to give it enormous gnashers? Seems a bit unethical, medically speaking. Hmmmm we could get a big model of a sabercat at least? Not that interesting. We could get a skeleton of a real sabercat and have it at the entrance to the stadium! Yes, perfect!
Right, what else? Catering! We could stick with the US staples of beer, peanuts, hotdogs and nachos, orrrrr we could try something different. Now, it might just be cos I’m something of a food connoisseur (ok, just a fatty, I admit it), but there’s somewhere in particular I’d like to see do the catering. Iguanas, a Mexican restaurant made famous by TVs Man v Food. And all they can sell is their 5 lb burritozilla! People can’t leave the game early when we’re getting stuffed by Berlin, as they will be too full of rice, beans, ground beef etc!
That is what San Jose need in their new stadium!!

18.
I’m gonna need to have 2 guys in this one! I haven’t even been called up to the team yet, but there are 2 guys in particular who make it an absolute joy to drop into the LR. The guys I’m talking about, it will come as no surprise to know, are Linebacker Lawrence Bass and Defensive End Raylan Crowder. Just 2 stand-up guys, the absolute definition of Locker Room Leaders. Always there, ready to talk rubbish about football, proper football (fine, soccer), or anything else the random wheel of topics in everyone’s head falls on. They are also both outstanding when it comes to guidance for less experienced players. Crowders user, AskedMadden, was the one that recruited me for ISFL. We shared a locker room in the SHL and he has been an absolute pleasure to get to know, both over there and right here. Classically self deprecating, as only the Scots can do. And before you challenge me on this, I’m Scottish myself so I know. Just an absolute gent and a scholar. And Bass’ user, RussDrivesTheBus, was the guy that scouted me for SJS in my rookie season. Again, just an all round awesome guy. Didn’t just go down the route of ‘why would you want to play here, how active will you be etc’, but really took an interest in getting to know me. I had an IA spell from both here and SHL while I dealt with some personal stuff, but he still persuaded the management to pick me and I am eternally grateful. I honestly could not find 2 better guys to share a locker room with!

25.
When I committed to creating in ISFL (or when Madden strong armed me into it…. Only joking, I promise, please don’t hit me with the hose again), I genuinely had several positions in mind and was really stuck between them. Through a combination of my own research, talking with guys in SHL that were also in ISFL and garnering their thoughts, and sheer blind optimism for positions I enjoyed playing in Madden, I got to CB. It actually wasn’t my automatic choice. When I first decided to create, I was leaning well towards being a kicker. Now, I’m not sure why, because I do have real world experience playing American football, in Scotland so don’t get too excited, but I was a bang average, maybe slightly below, CB and WR. Mostly cos I don’t have the size for LB, either line or TE and I can’t throw for toffee. I was also pretty shitty at kicking, although my punting wasn’t the worst on the team. But I played kicker a lot when I played Madden 07 or 08, I forget which. So I assume that was the reason for my affection for the Kicker position. The main issue I found was that each team has 1 player who both kicks and punts, so there are not that many slots and they all seemed pretty much tied up. That is essentially why I binned that idea off and went with CB. Since I joined, I have seen a few kickers come in, so I don’t regret my decision, but part of me wishes I’d stuck with my gut on it. But then I may not have ended up in SJS, which would be a tragedy.

Quote:10. Write a short biography or story about your player. This could include background about how they came to the ISFL and how they’ve done so far, a story about their role in an exciting game, or anything else related to their experience in the league.

I was born in Louisville, KY to my mother Teresa and my father Benjamin (he went by ben). My father was a factory worker and my mother was a secretary- and they always taught me the value of working hard and going after what you want. My family relocated to Thomaston, Georgia when I was young, and I attended Robert Lee High School. There, I broke records for interceptions and defensive TDs. I'm also a huge golf guy, and I still play golf to this day (and maybe I'd be doing that if I wasn't going pro for football). I got offers from big schools like Alabama, and clemson, and Georgia, but I wanted to bring glory back to my hometown. So I attended the University of Louisville. I was only the second Robert Lee alumni ever to be a five star recruit. In my freshman year in 2043, I shattered the ACC interception record by 2 with 16 interceptions. I was on both the all-ACC and all-academic teams. I didn't win the heisman (it's too much of an offensive award) but I was one of the only defensive players to ever be in the final running. Even after all that, a lot of people doubted me due to my size and "lack of physicality". And the next decision was one of the hardest I've ever had to make, but I decided to stay at school instead of declaring for the draft. I had to prove to myself, and the people who didn't believe in me, that I was the greatest. In 2044, I was injured in training camp. It was one of the worst feelings of my life, and I was sure that my football career was gonna be down the drain. I was very blessed, however, and thank God, I got to play the second half of the season. However, despite playing well in my return, there are even more doubts about my injury history and will I be able to compete at the next level now. I am known for my quickness, speed, lateral movement, and ability to find the ball in the air. And if I can prove my doubters wrong and play with that potential from the university of Louisville, there's no limits to what I can accomplish. And I'll say this again- I know myself, and I know what I'm capable of, and I can promise you, passing on me due to my previous injury is gonna be the biggest mistake a team will ever make.

Quote:The season is over and the draft is coming up. What do you bring to a team, and why should a team choose to take a chance on you next season?

I bring a quickness, an agility, and an ability to find the ball that nobody in the league has. You look at guys like Minkah Fitzpatrick, Jaire Alexander, Xavier, those are guys I emulate. If you need a star on a lacking defense, or just another piece in an already solid defense, I'm your guy. I'm not here for the stats, or the money, I'm here to win, and I look forward to proving that every week. In addition, I look forward to being an active member in a community and with a team that has a great chemistry. I'm looking forward to winning, first and foremost. My ball tracking abilities are on an elite level, and you can see that with my play at Louisville. A lot of teams have doubts about me going into this season due to my injury history, and I can tell you this- you won't regret taking me. I can promise you that. Some teams are gonna pass on me due to injury concerns or whatever else- and I gotta be honest, I can tell you right now- they're making a huge mistake. And I look forward to showing them how big of a mistake that would be in the prospect bowl.

I would definitely be a physical/red zone threat type wide receiver. I love being a DB and I knew the WR market was a bit saturated so I didn't choose it, but it would definitely be my second option. I grew up watching guys like Randy Moss, Antonio Brown, and Megatron, and I just love their game. There's nothing in the world more exciting than a good receiver, and they can make or break a team. The ability, and the competition with DBs, the route running, the crazy end zone grabs- those are stuff that's just fun to watch, and a reason I would love to play that guy. I'd love to be my team's Jerry Rice, or Randy Moss. I love the "diva" WR personalities, and the controversy they stir up. I would definitely be that guy 100%. And with my abilities that I have as a DB, the ball tracking, the speed, I think I would make a solid wide receiver. Watching Hines Ward in his prime, that's a type of guy I would love to emulate and when people saw me, they would think of him. I love those comparisons. So no doubt, it would be wide receiver.

I don't have a team, but if I did, I would hope it is in a larger market city, so we could afford a good stadium. In a ideal stadium, I would like to see some amenities added that your average stadium may not have. First of all, I would like heated seats on all the stands, and make them have a footrest come out from the bottom as well. I like the atmosphere of an outdoor stadium, even though an indoor one may be more comfortable. I want it to have a retractable roof so we can have the best of both worlds, but I don't want the fans to be sitting in the rain because that sucks for everyone, especially if its cold. Who doesn't like to be soaked in summer rain? In terms of concessions, I would like to have a world class array of snacks and drinks, like it's the Coca Cola Factory in Atlanta, in terms of the soda. The stadium would need to have many bars, because a game is nothing without quality beer. I don't drink personally because I have to play football, but I understand the struggle fans go to find good beer for a game. And one that won't run their wallets dry. There needs to be a few special suites for our very rich guests, that come with tinted windows so no one can see what they are doing, especially the cameras. But it should also have a hot tub or two  Wink

IF my player had a show starring them, it would definitely be a food tasting show. I love eating, and I think as a football player I've afforded myself that luxury of being able to eat great foods and eat a lot of them because I won't get fat. If only I was a lineman, then I could be a great food tester. I have a big stomach, and I love traveling, so that would really be my dream job, to travel around the world and get paid to eat the best food. It's so entertaining to watch as well, and I love the exposure and fame. My favorite cuisine is Japanese, so expect my player to be in Japan a lot for his TV show. Along with just visiting the best restaurants in the entire world, I want to put a twist on it, and maybe make it a road trip. A road trip through Europe in an RV, going to the different countries and eating food along the way, sounds like a very appealing idea for myself, and hopefully for the viewer. I want to also meet a famous person at each meal, hopefully one person from that region, so it can be like a chat with a very important figure over a meal, which is always entertaining, as the best conversaitons always happen over food.

Scouting report for Quite Drab:
Middling cornerback with flashes of potential. He has the natural ability to play cornerback and react, more so than others I've seen at the position. He also has raw athleticism, as evidenced by his epic chasedown tackle highlight that was doing the rounds several years ago when he played at a pro am event during a visit. He has good ball handling skills, suprisingly, and I think when a ball goes his way, he will not drop it. This guy will pluck your ball, not bat it down. He has that drive to turn the ball over, not just make a good swat. Unfortunately, his aggressive nature causes him to make a lot of sloppy mistakes, like getting burnt off the route, because he bit the play action, or maybe he went for the ball and misjudged it and instead gets mossed. He's quite hit or miss, which is better than someone who is consistently mediocre. Because those errors can be caught and fixed, but you can't teach speed. You can't teach instinct. I think he will be a late round steal for whoever drafts him, and someone that will be useful in the league for a very long time.

I really like the Outlaws branding, I think the colors of gold and red are underutilized and a welcome contrast from the common color schemes we see everywhere. The Yeti logo is quite drab. The SJS colors are nice, but I think they could be a bit more vibrant. You can't have two dull colors, unless you are the Outlaws  Big Grin . Honolulu's branding is very bright and pretty, but maybe not the best for a football team? I think the Wraiths are very cool, very dark and brooding, but the city itself seems odd. I'd like them to relocate to a larger market area, and maybe they will draw in more players? The Yeti are very scary, and a great combination with Colorado, but the colors are a bit funky. I would think you have a grene and brown because it is nature, or maybe a white for the snow? Red and yellow don't seem to make such sense. At least parallel with the Broncos maybe? An orange and dark navy blue would look nice. I have some great ideas for a team branding, but the ISFL has some good teams right now. The Silverbacks are a very cool idea, but I don't quite understand why in New York, but I love the colors so much, I think it's quite perfect for the big apple. The Butchers have a very traditional color scheme, but at least it matches, because red is for blood.

For any team, creating a "Mount Rushmore" is challenging and the San Jose Sabercats are not any different. A team that has been around for so many seasons has the options of many key players and staff that could be honored. For simplicities sake, I am just going to focus on former Sabercat players in the construction of my monument.

The first player I would like to honor is Tyron Brackenridge. Lovingly known as "Old man Brack" before his retirement, Brackenridge is the all time leader in games played for the San Jose Sabercats and it is not particularly close. He has 20 more games played than the next closest cats. Brack didn't just play in those games, he was extremely productive. Most notable is the fact that he is second all time for San Jose in tackles having amassed over 1000 in his illustrious career. Brackenridge further finds himself in the all-time top ten for sacks, interceptions and passes defended. Brackenridge was just dominant in every season he played in the ISFL and his on-field performance warrants his inclusion among the elite of San Jose.

Brack's contributions don't end on the field however. He was arguably a bigger presence within the locker room in San Jose. He was beloved by all his teammates and is a former captain of the team. He helped guide the Sabercats defense to two ultimus titles and kept a struggling team together in the later years of his career. Brackenridge will forever be remembered as not just a dominant football player, but as a leader of men.

The next player I would like to honor is none other than Shane Weston. Weston is without a doubt the best wide receiver to ever play for San Jose. His numbers just seem ridiculous when you compare them to other Sabercats. For starters, he has almost three thousand more yards than the next closest cat with his over ten thousand yards. His 668 catches is also 150 more than any player in the history of the team. The fact Weston compiled these numbers while averaging over 16 yards a catch just makes his career all the more impressive. Weston's numbers did not just stop on the offensive side of the ball, as he was a dominant return man. He leads San Jose all time in punt return yards and touchdowns and kick return yards. The 5 touchdowns he has returning punts is still 4 more than any other member of the team. Combined, these impressive stats set Weston way ahead of any other plan in total all purpose yards. He is over 21,000 all purpose yards with the next closest being almost 7,000 behind. The numbers Weston put up are frankly ridiculous and may not ever be matched by another Sabercat.

The third player I would like to honor is Dan Miller. I feel Miller is a player that is underappreciated in terms of just how dominant he was. For starters, he only played 7 seasons and 92 games, but the man racked up 101 sacks. That's right the man averaged over a sack a game for his whole tenure with the cats. Overall he is 18 sacks higher than the closer player, who played in nearly twice the games. Miller also had success outside of pass rushing with almost 400 tackles and 9 forced fumbles in his career. I think this is just one dude who had a dominant career from a less sexy position but still deserves his face up on the San Jose Mount Rushmore.

The final player I want to select is none other than the legendary Monty Jack. Jack is a player you can't avoid talking about when you look at Sabercat history. He is the all time leader in passing yards and passing touchdowns. He has an almost 10,000 yard lead over the next closest QB, or 1 Shane Weston career, and 20 touchdowns. He was a dominant force in the league for a few years and deserves his face on the pantheon. Oh did I mention that he won back to back Ultimus championships? That's right this man was the leader behind the greatest period in San Jose history. So not only is he a clear admission into my monument by stats, but he is also one of the main reasons the Cats have two of their championship rings. I think any fan would agree that Monty Jack is truly in a class of his own. Put more simply, the cheese stands alone.

I want to give a special shout out to Jamar Lackson. There is no doubt Lack is a top 4 player all time for San Jose. However, his story has not yet come to an end. He still has some gas left in the tank and I do not want to honor him prematurely. I am excited to see how the book ends with Lackson's career and ever sabercats fan feels the same I am sure. Hopefully the team can put together one last big run while Jamar is on the team. It would be a proper sendoff to see Lackson's final game be in the playoffs.

RE: (S30) Ultimus Week - JaytheGreat - 08-31-2021

14. Describe your player and/or team’s journey through this latest season. What were the highlights? What were the lower points? What might you have done differently? What are your expectations for next season?

It was an interesting first season for Jay Spears and the playmaking Safety didn't disappoint. In his first season in Portland Spears lead all Safeties in tackles and had 2 INTs and recovered a fumble along with scoring a defensive TD. The highlight of the season for me was week 7 against Tijuana, there I won my first Defensive Player of the Game award (out of 2) where I had 5 tackles and a pick 6. Another high point was making it to the playoffs but the playoffs were also a low point of the season as we got knocked out in the first round to Minnesota, it wasn't a surprisingly loss but it still hurts to lose even more so in the playoffs. Another low point would probably be our first loss to Minnesota, we blew a double digit lead which really stings even more so when it's the top team in the league. I will say that all in all this season was success not only for me but for the Pythons as well. making the playoffs is the name of the game and that's exactly what we did. I'm not sure what the next season brings but I'm pretty sure I'll still be in Portland. I do expect to put up even better stats as my player improves this offseason I've got the speed to keep up with most WRs so it's all about being smarter and maybe be able to throw some more power into my tackles. As for the team I know we will probably lose some players to call ups but the goal and expectation is still to make the playoffs and challenge for a championship. Once you make the playoffs you always have a chance to make some noise and win a game or two. According to some people I'm one of the finalists for Safety of the year, if I don't win it this season I definitely hope I win it next season being considered the best at your position is one of the highest honors you can have and I will really be gunning for it next year, even more so if I don't get it this year. As for the defense next year I should be back with my duo Siaosi Multiauaopele as we continue to wreck havoc on other team's offenses. All in all next season should certainly be one to watch for Spears and the Pythons.

 13. Expansion Expansion Expansion! The league seems to love talking about it, but it has still not happened. Tell us why it should happen / should not happen soon?

First and foremost I don't think we should have expansion in the foreseeable future as we've already have had 4 new teams within the last 10 seasons and even though 2 of those teams have already won an Ultimus I believe the league already has really good balance. But I will write about what cities I think should be next in line for expansion for whenever the ISFL Overlords decide it's time to expand again. First off lets start with none North American cities, I think the first city on the list should be Paris. As for as I know Paris doesn't currently have a team in any sim, we already have 2 big time European cities in the league London (in the DSFL) and Berlin (in the ISFL) I think that makes Paris a no brainer, Berlin has had a lot of success lately and London is getting there which shows that international teams can in fact thrive in the league. What also helps Paris is that they are located in between London and Berlin. I feel like they would bit in the league better then Madrid, Rome, or Moscow. The next 2 none NA cities I think would make a good fit would be Tokyo, Japan and Melbourne Australia. Both are big cities in the Asia/Oceanic region and would have a geographical rival with Honolulu if they joined in the ISFL. Japan used to have a PBE team until it got relocated to Maui so it can support an ISFL team, and the Aussies seem to have a high interest in football. As for NA candidates I believe the best cities to expand to are Detroit (possible some bias here), Boston, Mexico City, Miami, San Francisco, Seattle, St. Louis, and Toronto. Each of these cities already have teams in different sim leagues Detroit (PBE, SMJHL), Boston (SBA, SHL), Mexico City (SBA), Miami (SBA), San Francisco (SHL, MiLPBE), Seattle (SHL, SBA, PBE), St. Louis (SMJHL), and Toronto (SBA, SHL). I believe any of those cities listed would be a great site for an expansion team, also I'd like them to expand like the did last time around with one NA team and one international team. The best part of these possible locations is that they all have geographical rivals. Detroit would have Chicago, Boston would have New York and Philly, Mexico City would have Dallas and Tijauna in the DSFL, Miami would have Sarasota, SF would have San Jose and Orange County for the battle of California, Seattle would have Yellowknife or Portland, St. Louis would be a little more difficult, and Toronto would have Yellowknife and New York.

32. Affliate PT from either SHL/PBE. The Weeks must match with the timeframe of this UW. And you may only use a max of 1.

29. Awards have been a subject of controversy for a while in the league. Tell us your ideas on how awards process can be fixed.

I think the easiest way to fix awards is to lower their value. In my opinion, the awards in this league should be 100% user voted on. In the place of awards there should instead be an official All-Pro team that the GMs or a committee vote on. This would be just as prestigious, if not more prestigious, than the awards and would also allow a couple more people to get recognition each year. The awards would still be nice and hold value, possibly even more value to some people if they view the community that way, but this would open up a much broader spectrum of possible player recognition. I would also be in favor of the league announcing players of the week in the ASFC and NSFC, like they do in the NFL. In my eyes, player recognition = player involvement = player retention. And even if your player isn’t one who gets an award/player of the week/all-pro nomination, you can still look at those as something to build your players towards. Goals = need for development = player involvement = player retention. I’m not sure how viable these ideas are, but I think they could go a long way towards keeping players interested in the league, and also bringing new faces into our locker rooms.

26. Football is a game that has been going on for a while, loved by fans all over. But what if you were able to make some rule changes? Talk us through your new version of football, and what would be different and why?

Redraft the whole league. No seriously. We all love fantasy football, many of us play it even here, now imagine if you heard about the NFL doing this in real life. The build up would be immense and the shockwaves would be felt for years, but it would be awesome to see the outcomes of the draft, and, more importantly to me, how NFL GMs value and view players around the league. There are so many variables that could play into where a player was redrafted. Skill, age, contract, speed, height, weight, offense, defense, stacking position groups. I could go on and on about what factors into a player’s value. Then getting to see it all play out? Yes please. Imagine watching the Bengals draft Russell Wilson and Davante Adams! Or locking down the defensive line with Chase Young and Aaron Donald! I mean the possibilities are endless, and as a gigantic football nerd I would pay an obscene amount of money (like 20 bucks idk) to see this play out in real life. I guess it would kind of suck having to buy new jerseys but that is a minor downside to a major upside, count me all in for operation NFL redraft.

31. The World Football Association was established last season and is currently playing out for the first time. What do you think about the WFC as a whole and how it has been shaping out. Do you think it will end up a success?

I’ve been enjoying the WFC! It’s been a nice way to still get my dot football fix, but with a bit less stress (it’s not stress, I just don’t know what word I’m looking for here) since it’s not for the team that drafted me. I also like that I now have even more stats to check! Before I had to wait weeks to see Willie Miller record a whopping 2 tackles and 1 pass breakup, but now I don’t even have to wait. I think the WFC as a whole was handled pretty well, the launch was smooth and the first couple of games have been going well, except for that resim (apologies that might have been SHL, can’t remember). The team graphics were awesome and the discord seems like a fun place. I wish I could have represented the Midwestern United States this year, but I understand I did not make the cut and will happily wear the Red and White for Canada. I do think the WFC will be a success and will become a staple of the ISFL for years to come. The SHL has done a great job so far with the IIHF, so as long as we can mirror them and try to make the WFC as great as it can be, we should have year round hockey for the foreseeable future.

10 TPE Option
Philadelphia, the first place of my career in the ISFl, had a rough season this last season and to say the sim’s gonna sim isn’t all that fair. We had a lot of close games throughout the season and we really showed a lot of resilience in our locker room. It’s a tough place to be in, at the end of a rebuild, but we’re like leprechauns and we’re gonna find that god damned pot of gold. You might have noticed I said the end in the sentence prior and thats because it is the end of our rebuild. The S31 season is our season to finally show what we’ve been building to the league and our team is ready, believe me. In reality this all starts from the top, Pat and Cody have put this franchise into rebirth, like a phoenix from the ashes, and although we have some ash to shake off our feathers yet, the moment we do people will take note and look in awe. Our locker room is built around love, compassion, fun, and teamwork. Not once this season have I seen our leaders step back or say something negative to us. The inner sanctum of this cathedral runs deep but at the top there’s the bell of Liberty for all to see. With that in mind, my vow of excellence promised, and my spirit on my sleeve I give you my Liberty analysis for this year to come.

Offense
Winning starts primarily with the offense and when teams can’t score they lose. Our offense totaled up a good amount of yardage this last season, but for some reason we couldn’t punch the ball into the endzone game in and game out. This -will- change this year as Lonnie Jackson comes into a full time starting gig at runningback and we position three 1000 TPE wide receivers in Asui, Chambers, and Fencik out wide for Ryan Negs. A lot can be said about Ryan Negs the last few seasons but I believe this year will be his coming out party. Behind a rebuilt offensive line and shiny new toys, I believe Negs will come out with a heck of a showing this season.

QB: Ryan Negs          1154 TPE

RB: Lonnie Jackson            730 TPE
RB2: Anders Christiansen      709 TPE

FB: Pancakes                257 TPE

WR1: Killian Chambers          1057 TPE
WR2: Tsuyu Asui                1047 TPE
WR3: Jake Fencik              1072 TPE

OL: Alexander Franklin        826 TPE
      Rudy Gray                    259 TPE
      Thomas Rose              533 TPE
      Chevy Bronko            384 TPE

TE1: Borgo San Lorenzo    847 TPE
TE2: Pancakes                  257 TPE

Defense

Our defense was a highlight through most of the season with the exception of a few games in which we let up a ton of passing yards. This season will not be the same. Look for our young players to come into their own and start highlighting right beside our veteran leaders like Jimi DeSoto, Doy Fieri, Gary Goodman, Matt Cross, and Honkytonk Haywood. Key young players to watch are CJ Sonjack, Xavier Walls, Lucid Dreams, Remus and Romulus Roman. This defense will be strong for years to come and any teams that think we’ll be push overs because of this season better look back and see how many games we lost by 7 points or less. With that being said, this is what our defensive lineup looks like going into the season.

DE: Tex Wrecks            1157 TPE
      Lucid Dreams          561 TPE

DT: Honkytonk Haywood        1167 TPE

LB: Gary Goodman      1279 TPE
      Jimi DeSoto          1257 TPE
      Xavier Walls  801 TPE
      In Active                345 TPE

CB: Doy Fieri                1271 TPE
      CJ Sonjack              707 TPE
      Matt Cross (NB)      720 TPE

SS: Romulus Roman     735 TPE
      Matt Cross                720 TPE

FS: Remus Roman            750 TPE
      Matt Cross                720 TPE

My predictions for this next season might seem bias, but based on the rise in tpe our team has seen and against the regression of other teams I think we come out on top of those one score games we lost this last season. We will be a top five rushing team this next season. We will be a top five passing offense. Our defense will rank in the top five. Looking into this next season our tpe will be set at about 820/ player for an average which is on the rise while other teams are dropping from 870 levels down to 850 levels. The gap has closed enough that unless RNG totally screws us over the Philadelphia Liberties will be a team that teams will not like facing week in and week out. There won’t be the comments about Philly being a crappy team or not understanding out to sim or any of that shit. We’re coming for you no matter what team you’re on or how much better you think you are than us. This is a different monster, we’re a whole new Philly and get ready to ride the wave.
