(S22) - PT1 - Runnin’ Down a Dream - IthicaHawk - 04-30-2020 Hamish MacAndrew, 78th pick the NSFL draft had a decent season in the DSFL with the Dallas Birddogs. It wasn't amazing, it wasn't terrible. It was decent. Moving to the US to go pro was a big move for him and the sudden shiny money and success was daunting and overwhelming. He lost focus. He could have done more during his time in the team to be a better player. Not just for himself but for the team too. He could have worked harder, time he'll never get back. He'd be in a much better position now to contribute to his team in the NSFL, be a playmaker and make a real difference. After some off season soul searching, Hamish buckled down and started spending all the time he could working on his game, his fitness, his football IQ. Everything he could do make up for his low tier effort in S21 he was doing. He bought the best equipment he could afford, he hired trainers, he started studying games and film in his spare time, writing analysis for his team. So what does Hamish MacAndrew hope to accomplish in Season 22? He wants to prove to himself and the league that he can and will be one of the top Safeties in the league. He knows it'll take a few seasons to catch up with his peers but, with hard work and graft, he will not just equal them but surpass them. (S22) - PT1 - Runnin’ Down a Dream - furiousPanda - 04-30-2020 Haha Mango-Panda is going from one expansion to another one. From Dallas to Sarasota, with the Sailfish, expectations are not super high. As an expansion team, no one expects us to make it to the playoffs, but I think we can sneak up in. Sailfish have great skill players on offense with Frost and Wayne Gordon, and with their leadership we can build on top of that. In addition, the locker room is active and the defense is hungry to grow stronger everyday. Throughout the season, both units are expected to close the gap and start competing for a playoff spot. Just like the Birddogs. Watch out! The Sailfish are here to win. When it comes to personal goals. Haha Mango-Panda wants to compete for Defense Play of the Year and Rookie of the Year. Those are the awards that would be awesome to win! With a new position as middle linebacker, the stats should start padding up and I expect a good year. Last year, Haha played nickel back, now he's in a more natural position. Another record that Haha is targeting is the most tackles in a single game. This is doable, in the first game he got 13 and the record is 20. The goal is to get 21 in one game. And hopefully he can hit it. He’s put in the time and effort and done everything that has been asked of him from playing WR3 to spending time at Tight End and moving all around the formations, Its his time to shine. To prove that he’s ready for this role Quinn has set some very lofty goals for himself. He plans to break his personal record for receiving yardage and end up somewhere in the range of 800 yards. Additionally he would like to have a season where he scores more than 5 touchdowns which would be the highest since becoming a pro. Ideally once all these statistics are achieved he would be some recognition for his improvement by getting nominated and winning the NSFL most improved player award. I know there will be many great players trying for the award but improving by over 400 yards and addition additional touchdowns should put him into a great conversation. Quinn isn’t a selfish player though, He knows his team is in a rebuilding year and that it wont have the same lofty expectations as in previous years. So he’s set his goal for the team to just make it into the playoffs. (S22) - PT1 - Runnin’ Down a Dream - Lost_Kelu - 04-30-2020 As a rookie defensive tackle I realize that my stats won't be these high numbers because we are used to be a foundation to the defensive line more often than not. Unless there are situations where a ball carrier enters my domain, so to be honest I don't fully understand how the numbers will play out. I will however be working to maintain and exceed those expectations that may exist and be the one of the best in my role. Norfolk is looking damn good, excuse my french. In just the preseason alone we seem to be a unit and work well together. The locker room is a good place to grow and I see us chasing after that championship this year. I know that I want to help us get there and be apart of a monsterous defense, that'll put a stranglehold on the league's fiercest offenses. As far as individual awards, I don't think I'll be focusing on that, only on what's in front of me in the steps moving forward. Still this going to be an exciting season for all of us and I feel blessed by the gods being where I'm at, the journey will be long but worthy. -Braxton Sinclair DT (S22) - PT1 - Runnin’ Down a Dream - CalvinGolladay - 04-30-2020 After an 0-1-1 start, it may seem like the Arizona Outlaws are headed for another disappointing season, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. The tie against the Copperheads came after a drive killing fumble at the end of regulation, while their comeback against the Sabercats on the road was disrupted after giving up late safety and the subsequent turnover on downs in the Sabercats redzone. A playoff push for the Outlaws certainly isn’t out of the question, even though with their core of promising young players their playoff window is likely a few seasons down the road. As a team I’m looking for a playoff berth, but as a player I’m aiming for a top-three finish in OLotY voting and a Pro Bowl appearance. After a strong start to the season in a 6 pancake performance I cooled off and recorded only 2 against the Sabercats, but if I can sustain consistent high pancake numbers a strong case can be made for OLotY. More importantly, however, would be a Pro Bowl berth as a rookie. Pro Bowl representation has been an important issue for the Fair Rub movement, so playing in one so early in my career would be a huge achievement for both on and off field reasons. (S22) - PT1 - Runnin’ Down a Dream - Kyle - 04-30-2020 In his third year in the NSFL Kyle Idlewyld has set unsurprisingly lofty goals for himself. In his DSFL year in TIjuana Idlewyld won Defensive lineman of the year. After being drafted first overall by the Austin Copperheads Kyle went on to not just win Defensive rookie of the year he won an Ultimus with the Copperheads, including a safety in the conference championship, The next year wasn't quite as successful for the team, having lost in the playoffs, but Idlewyld had an even better season the 2nd time around earning Defensive Lineman of the year again. After earning those two awards in two years he knows he must move up to bigger and better things. DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR. Move over slow berry the, your time has passed. Now it's time for the Wyld Era. The path to winning this award is simple but difficult. Kyle must have 18 tackles for loss (which would be top ten all time in a season) and sack a quarterback 10 times, which would most likely lead defensive ends and be near the top overall for the league. Of course this means that going in to his fourth season Idlewyld will have to set his eyes on the biggest individual prize of them all, most valuable player. (S22) - PT1 - Runnin’ Down a Dream - Jonny2x - 04-30-2020 Pass (S22) - PT1 - Runnin’ Down a Dream - xbijin - 04-30-2020 This year will be Spike Suzuki’s rookie year in NSFL after being drafted by the Philadelphia Liberty along with some of his prior Norfolk teammates. Upon being drafted, Suzuki was approached to try out defensive end since it was an overall better fit with the team set at linebacker, his original position. Suzuki is used to changing positions as he tried out most positions in college out of need so going from linebacker to defensive end is nothing new. Over the off season, Suzuki added some bulk and maxed out their speed after with a rigorous strength training regime up in the mountains which should also ease this transition. Overall, Suzuki hopes to build on his DSFL performance and have a productive rookie year and trust the process with this young Philadelphia team. Awards and accolades come with time and Suzuki is just getting started. For now, he plans on grinding every day, earning that TPE while hoping to make a name for himself. Philly didn’t make the playoffs last season, but with this new young core we believe we can really make a run at it this year and hopefully make the playoffs. We feel we could become the next NSFL dynasty. (S22) - PT1 - Runnin’ Down a Dream - bk1689 - 04-30-2020 PBE PT |
