RE: (S26) - PT 5 - Fortune Teller - Mojojojo - 01-03-2021 Ernest Lover has been training hard in his rookie season in the ISFL. With this being only his second season in the league (he was called-up from the DSFL right away), he has only just gotten used to the training regiment required of DEs in the current simulation environment. Over the season, he has been working hard to improve his strength, speed, agility, and tackling to help him hold the line of scrimmage. With the new season on the horizon, this offseason he will be focusing on and spending time to lose some bulk and improve his competitiveness. He’s looking to specialize in stopping the run game. Overall, Lover is extremely excited about all of the ways that he may build up his skills in the coming seasons and set himself apart from the other DEs on the field. When it comes to the outlook for the league, I am optimistic that the greater balance and flexibility across archetypes and positions is going to mean there are not only more ways to build players, but also more ways to build teams. Early in the switchover, I think teams that have active and high-earning players in previously easy-to-cap positions like kicker and defensive line will see those positions make a bigger difference in their win potential. RE: (S26) - PT 5 - Fortune Teller - MrStennett - 01-03-2021 While I'm not entirely sure that the sim upgrade is going to change the way the sim "plays", so to speak, I do believe that the hype and excitement of a new sim and new player archetypes is going to be a massive boost for the league. Since I got here in Season 11, there is no more consistent gripe I've heard than, "Get a new sim! This one sucks!" Well, we're finally here and I honestly am very excited about that means for the league as a whole. The first season with the new sim will be Charlemagne Cortez's rookie season with the Outlaws, so it will be interesting to see how that affects the level of play he's capable of. As far as predictions for the league, I'm not sure much of the hierarchy will change. Arizona will probably drop off some going from the retiring Jay Cue to Cortez, and we may see a team like the Silverbacks take a step forward, but I think things will stay pretty even overall. Hopefully, this switch to a new (and more detailed) sim will help with our retention rate and thus allow more opportunities for league expansion. All I know is that 2021 is looking up for the ISFL! Code: 210 words RE: (S26) - PT 5 - Fortune Teller - LewisMelville - 01-03-2021 Firstly happy new year to all with the DSFL/ISFL community, I hope you were able to and enjoy bringing an end to 2020 with your nearest and dearest, hopefully 2021 is a better year for us all. Not only are we entering an year but we are also ending an era and starting a new by upgrading our sim for the upcoming season. I for one cannot wait for it! It sounds like it is going to be a massive upgrade across the board but more importantly for me, it is going to highlight cornerbacks stats and abilities more than the current SIM. All we cornerbacks really have to go on is passes defended, interceptions and tackles (not the most relevant of stats for a cornerback). The most notable change for us is we are now going to get a quaryerback rating against us, which will also show how many times we are targetted in a game which I think will be huge. In regards to there being a big draft class coming, that spells to me nothing but carnage! It could be looking like you've picked up an absolute stud of a player only for them to go inactive. If a team wastes an early round pick on once of these guys it really can set the team back a couple of seasons! I cannot wait to watch it unfold. I may be a Homer but I think the team to watch next season is the Berlin Fire Salamanders, we have not had much luck with the current SIM and we have a lot of high/max earners within the team. Expect to see us competing next season for a division title and beyond! RE: (S26) - PT 5 - Fortune Teller - Starboy - 01-03-2021 With the new sim comes new opportunities for some teams to step up into the light that possibly should have gotten there that have not been treated so kindly by the outdated DDSPF 16. In the next sim, there will hopefully be a much more balanced approach to how the sim operates as well as treats those of higher TPE. With that, the two teams that should take a step forward under the new sim would be the Baltimore Hawks and the Berlin Fire Salamanders. The Hawks have had the unfortunate effect of being treated unfair in the realm of receiving luck in the current season with having very reliable wide receivers that cannot seem to catch a wide open pass. The even worse effect from the current sim comes from having the highest TPE quarterback in Chika Fujiwara yet having her play as a mid-tier level player and getting passed by some with many hundreds less TPE. With the new sim, it is possible that the more levelled out strategies will give a boost. The other team that has faced far too much bad luck comes in Berlin who has built up an amazing team that has yet to really play much on that level. They are definitely going to stand out in the future and end up with more to work with in the future sim. RE: (S26) - PT 5 - Fortune Teller - SomeSay... - 01-03-2021 Written Option: The New Year is fast approaching along with a flashy new sim, a wave of re-creates, and a potentially larger draft class overall. What do you think 2021 is going to look like for the league? Do you think the new sim will dramatically impact player/team performance? Are there any specific players or teams you think will stand out from the rest in the coming months? Well Happy New Year everyone reading this PT. I have been lucky enough to be able to buy the sim and put sometime in it, in my free time. I like the aesthetics of the sim, so 2021 will definitely look prettier in my opinion when it comes to the streams for the games. It was tough to do testing as I had no baselines for what we were going to do as a whole for the specifics of the players. So, I went with my own made-up base line and plugged in some players that I knew how they would be built. Overall, after a few seasons of sims, I hope the new year brings more consistency overall between players. As a thousand TPE corner back, it is hard to watch three to four hundred TPE corners make more plays than you. Now, one thing that’s down to is less balls thrown your way, but in the new sim it seems that is no longer the case, the high corners are lined up on higher receivers and the quarterbacks want to take the chance. So, I’m hoping we wont see such a disparity between players. The new year should bring lots of questions but overall I think this transition season will be lots of fun for everyone and keep it interesting, and for some who it may have come stale for, I think that will change. First and foremost is the transition from Draft Day Sports: Pro Football 16 to the latest version, DDSPF 21. The sim is really what the league is built on, and this will be a big shift for all of us. While there is a lot of transition that is happening regarding player archetypes and attributes, perhaps the thing I am most excited for is the death of sim testing. Do not get me wrong, I very much enjoy sim testing. I feel it is a tangible way to directly help my team win in their games. That being said, it is very time consuming and even the most optimal gains from it are only a few percentage points. In this latest iteration of DDSPF, the exhibition game feature has been removed, which was the primary method of conducting sim testing. While it is still theoretically possible to test, it would be much more manual work and incredibly slower. Additionally in 2021 is the S28 class which will certainly be a big one for two reasons. First is the magnitude of recreates. Big name users like Bex, Infinite, Big Red, Modern Duke, and others are part of this class and they will certainly be valued very highly. In addition to these big names, the S28 class will be one recruited primarily from Reddit, the first since S25 (best class by the way). Reddit recruitments are always large but I feel that this one will be even larger, with the lull between the NFL regular season and playoffs happening this week. Regardless, I am excited to see what 2021 has in store for the league. Code: 286 words RE: (S26) - PT 5 - Fortune Teller - shadyshoelace - 01-03-2021 It's pretty crazy that as we enter 2021, this will be my third year in the league after joining in 2019. 2020 saw lots of great changes for the league, especially massive growth in the user base that will ensure the league is healthy for a long time to come. One byproduct of this massive change is that players started to blur together as more and more higher TPE earners entered, to the point where many awards and individual distinctions seem like a crapshoot. My hope is that the transition to the new sim counteracts this to some degree by creating more differentiation between players via the new archetypes. I don't know if this will happen or not, but the new traits and TPE scale will hopefully let players create more uniqueness for their individual player that will show up on the stat sheet. Hopefully this also trickles down to team building and management strategies as well, so General Managers have to consider not only position and TPE but also how a player's archetype fits into their scheme when drafting or signing free agents. In an ideal world, I could see this creating more player movement between teams as players seek the role that will give their particular player the best chance of success. Will this pan out? We can only wait and find out. Either way, here's to another great year of the ISFL! Code: 235 words RE: (S26) - PT 5 - Fortune Teller - ComebackZak - 01-03-2021 I think 2021 will be a great year for the International Simulation Football League. Recruitment and league growth seems to continue as the league succeeds and moves forward with the new/updated simulation of Draft Day Sports: Pro Football 2021. I think this big jump from our currently used version to the brand new version will help change how sims will run with play-calling and how players play especially with ratings. It will be interesting to see what new meta's are created and what positions will rise to prominence. I am not sure what specific players or teams will stand out as I am still down in the Developmental Simulation Football League but I am due to be called up next season. So I guess I will just use the homer answer and say the San Jose Sabercats will continue their winning ways into the new year and I will help bring them yet another championship. I am excited to see also how the new sim will affect archetypes and certain traits that are now being proposed. As a wide receiver I would love to know which archetype out of the three will be the best one to go with. I know I am heavily leaning towards slot receiver from possession receiver. Quote:212 words |
