RE: (S27) PT3 - We're halfway there - KamiCommie - 02-20-2021 Well, by the time that I'm writing this, I'd say we're closer to the three quarters mark. And by that point in the season, the front runners for awards are starting separate themselves from the rest of the pack. The award that I am going to be talking about here today is Defensive Player of the Year. Who do I think is going to win that award you say? Well that would be none other than the defensive captain of the Yellowknife Wraiths, linebacker Douglas Quaid! As of writing this point task, Quaid leads the league in tackles with 97, and is second in the league in tackles for a loss with 8. Quaid also has two forced fumbles and fumble recoveries, as well as 7 sacks on the year, which are respectable numbers this far into the season. If he continues this current trend, Quaid should finish the season with 141 tackles, 11 for a loss, 3 forced fumbles, 10 sacks, and 10 passes defended. Those all around stellar numbers just scream Defensive Player of the Year to me, and Top LB of the Year at the very least! But knowing out award committee, he probably wont even place in the top three. Code: 204 Words RE: (S27) PT3 - We're halfway there - AgentSmith - 02-20-2021 Borgo San Lorenzo will win Tight End of the Year in the DSFL. He currently leads all Tight Ends in receiving yards with 467 on 50 catches, and he has 2 touchdowns to add on to that. The next closest TE is Shane Benjamin, who only has 318 yards on 39 receptions. San Lorenzo is actually eligible for this award this year, since he’s being supported in Dallas with a standout rookie receiving corps this season, so he doesn’t have to be listed as a wide receiver on the roster. San Lorenzo also has a decently impressive 15 Pancakes with no sacks allowed (only 10 behind the TE leader in pancakes), which sticks out even more when you consider that his main role is a receiving Tight End, so blocking is not one of his strong suits. If San Lorenzo can continue to help Dallas, who are currently 9-1 on the season, perform as well as they are this season, then he would be the best candidate for Tight End of the Year. The other candidate for an award that I can think of is Chunt the Badger, the rookie Wide Receiver from Dallas who is currently second in the league in receiving yards. The argument can be made for him to win not only Rookie of the Year, but also WR of the year if he continues to perform at this level. He is an integral part of the Dallas offense that has been nigh unstoppable all season. As a result, I've come to know my DT peers well, and am always comparing myself to them to see how I stack up. This season hasn't been a great one for me so far statistically speaking. I've performed only slightly above average in terms of my tackles, and my TFL and sack numbers just aren't up to par with some of the top dogs at my position. There has been one DT who has performed at a much higher level than almost everyone else to start the season out: Big Edd. After a lackluster season last season, Big Edd has returned to his previous form and is absolutely destroying opposing offenses. So far, Edd has accrued 56 tackles, good for most among DTs, 6 tackles for loss, good for second most among DTs, 3 forced fumbles, most among DTs, 1 fumble recovery, and 7 sacks, most among DTs. Edd has put up full season numbers in only 11 weeks, and is greatly helping the Yeti as they continue their pursuit for a top seed in the conference. The Yeti currently sit at 7-4, behind only the Chicago Butchers (8-3), and the Sarasota Sailfish (8-3). RE: (S27) PT3 - We're halfway there - Goat_Whisperer - 02-20-2021 I'm a kicker or punter, whatever you call it. When I think about potential award receivers my attention naturally turns to players in my own position. Sam Sidekick of Chicago is one, Sam has FG% of 100 after 11 games, Sam is the only kicker with such a magnificent total. If Sidekick is able to keep that up for the rest of the season he should be up in the discussions. The second player is McDairmid from San Jose, he has the longest kick in the league. Power and distance is the name of the game, I think McDairmid deserves to be in the talks if he is the kicker with the longest kick of the season when the regular season is over. New York kicker/punter Small has covered the highest amount of yards with his punts, 3132 with 67 punts. Jay-Jaymison of Arizona however has the highest average yard total, 49,3 with 52 punts. Which is more valuable is not for me to decide, but I think both deserve the love and they should be in the talks. There is still plenty of football left, but strong first half goes a long way in this league, only the best of the best are able to win awards. RE: (S27) PT3 - We're halfway there - xenosthelegend - 02-20-2021 For punter of the year predictions (who should win it) check league media at the end of the season. For kicker of the year there are a few candidates who could win it. I believe the best choice for kicker of the year is my player Jake Fencik. Jake Fencik has been having an incredible season for the Philadelphia liberty, so far he has hit all of his twenty three extra point attempts, and has missed only a single field goal from 42 yards out. This season he has made 12 field goals from 40-49 yards, highest anyone else has attempted is 11. Fencik is also the only kicker to remain perfect from beyond 50 yards with 3 or more attempts, he has attempted 4. He is also tied for the second longest field goal of the season at 54 yards. In week 11 Fencik attempted 6 field goals, all of them went through the uprights. When he needs to hit a bunch of extra points in a single game, he proved he could do that in week 4 when he hit all 5 of his extra point attempts. No other kicker in the league has been more automatic from 40 or more yards this season, and no other kicker has attempted anywhere near as many kicks from 40+ yards this season. Some kickers have kicked more extra points, sure, but we can’t give an award just because other teams are scoring more touchdowns. However, every extra point attempted by Fencik has been made. What’s it matter of someone kicked 10 more? They’re chip shots anyway. You shouldn’t be rewarded for making them, just chastised for missing them. So let’s move our eyes to the REAL value, field goals. Fencik has attempted the most field goals in the league and he has only missed one. No kicker has been perfect this season, meaning that Fencik has the highest field goal percentage in the league. Let’s look at the distance though, shall we? Fencik is three for three on the easiest ones, 29 yards and under. If you look at the other kickers, soe have kicked 7 or 8 kicks from this distance, severely inflating their stats. Fencik is five for five on kicks within the 30-39 yards, but then we start to see where the money gets made. The team has asked him to attempt a remarkable THIRTEEN kicks from 40-49 yards. Now this is no easy feat, but Fencik has only missed one. He simply brings Philly points when we need them at an area of the field where he produces the most effectively. Oh, and he’s also a PERFECT four for four (is this a wendy’s?) from kicks above 50 yards. That’s a kicker of the year right there folks.
