There are so many great what-ifs in league history that there could be a 10,000 word article written about it, however I am going to go into a what-if that is personal. The biggest event that happened to my player was being selected by the Philadelphia Liberty to take over the only available quarterback spot in that draft out of two other choices. If the Liberty went the other way, there would have been so much that would have changed for my player. In my opinion, I believe I would have gotten drafted to Chicago or Orange County if I made my intentions clear that I would switch to play sooner. I most likely would have switched to cornerback and gone for a cover corner build! I would definitely want to lock down half the field and be someone who can force turnovers for my team. I think it was between Chicago and OCO because at the time I was really only close with Ducks users, and Chicago has a ton of them such as TheCC, ThunderTitan, Crody, and Sermo. For OCO, I had a really great relationship with Blasoon as he was one of my mentors building a quarterback. I am extremely thankful for being picked by Philly and the ability to stay at quarterback, but it definitely would have been interesting if things had played out a different way.

What if I’d been drafted one position later? Not a hard concept for me to imagine, it’s where I thought I was going to be drafted. Coming into draft night I thought I was going to become a Minnesota Grey Duck, I knew London had interest but I didn’t think it was enough to take me. There’s not many times in life where one decision completely changes everything, or maybe there is we can debate that later. This decision will be one that actually shapes the Career of Lucid Dreams. If I had been drafted to The Grey Ducks from my understanding They would have asked me to position switch. Not only would I have changed positions but I would have become an offensive player. Had I been drafted one position later Lucid Dreams would be the running back making a run for the top of the DSFL rushing leader board. Helping lead the Grey Ducks on a playoff run. It’s safe to say that had I been drafted one position later my career would have been vastly different. While I’m happy on defense I would be lying if I said the What If I was a RB idea didn’t intrigue me. The thought of scoring touchdowns and becoming an offensive powerhouse is one I’ve become a fan of. So much so that on my next create that will more than likely be my position. As with any situation the what if’s are endless but nothing more. Lucid Dreams is the DE for the London Royals and 2 sacks back from the DSFL leader. The more important what if to my career is what if I catch up ?

This PT asks you to get really broad and big picture, which isn't bad. That being said, I don't really want to lean into the whole "impact the entire league" theme so much as I want to get a bit personal. In the S25 expansion process there were a lot of outstanding applicants, however I'm happy woelkers and bwest got a team because if they hadn't I don't know where I'd be today. My time in New York has been incredible and truly rekindled my love for sim leagues. I enjoy the entire locker room and the vibe the team has - which is a bit slower paced and more mature then I was used to from other leagues or stops in the ISFL. The collective group is striving for one goal but recognizes that the wins and losses a team gets aren't the important part and really recognizes the humanity behind each user in the league. Thats a testament to the environments woelkers and bwest built - from Colorado to New York - and is a quality that isn't as pervasive as I'd like across leagues. I've been blessed to be a Silverback and can't wait to finish my career in New York - something that wouldn't have been possible if they weren't given a team.

Well, the two places I would have been if I was drafted a spot higher, or lower, would be Honolulu, or Philadelphia, respectively. Both teams were places that I would not have minded going to, to be honest. Honolulu needed a CB, and got one later on, so they would have a fit for me, however I think it is pretty fair to say Kendrick-Watts was a much better pick than Miller would have been. Philadelphia I am not too sure about, but I like a lot of people that are over there, Honolulu as well, to be fair.

If taking into consideration other things that could have happened, many thought that Miller would have fallen to Yellowknife at 8th, or Colorado at 5th. Both Colorado and Yellowknife took DB's, Colorado taking a safety in Boom-Man, who was one of Miller's teammates in Norfolk during their DFA periods. Miller was a flexible player in the fact of being a safety or a cornerback, but obviously whether he would have been picked to either team will never be known.

In the end, Baltimore is the best place for Miller. They have a very bright future, and Miller is a pretty good part of their defensive core going forward. If asked to change anything, he probably would not.

If I was drafted by a different team I do not think I would still be around. The great and magnificent and cordial and fair and good and kind and okay and superior and swell… he is all of those things! He definitely did not pay me to say those things, please do net check my bank account reading this article or whatever it’s called. But for real, CC did not even know who I was. He was my GM and had no idea I was his player. At practice he would ask me… “Are you lost boy?” I would answer back “Sir. I’m your second round draft pick.” He was on some beach vacation when the DSFL draft was going on, and he did not draft our second and third round pick. He was too busy “catching some waves”. He would go on to move and work for the Chicago Butchers ISFL team. And he brought me in for the draft. We were there together when I was drafted! It was amazing! He went from who the hell are you too… Mike I’m so glad you landed on our team! You are the best pick I have ever had! You will go down as my best draft pick, I will never ever get someone as good as you! EVER!

Picture this: clock is ticking, moments away from the 14th pick of the Season 28 ISFL Draft being announced. Anticipation is growing. The reigning Ultimus champs, the Sarasota Sailfish, have been waiting patiently to announce their pick. However, with a last minute trade, the Baltimore Hawks swoop in to take the pick for themselves in a remarkable move. Thunder strikes, music plays from the sky, the Baltimore Hawks select no one else besides the iconic Chunt The Badger. While this was a very true and accurate depiction of the selection of the league’s favorite badger, that does not necessarily answer the PT of this week being “What if?” This prompted me to question what would have happened if the Hawks never were able to trade with the Sailfish to acquire me? I assume Sarasota would have selected me, or at least I hope they would have in order to remain a first rounder. I do believe Chunt would have been a content Badger playing for the sailfish. The scouting talks were nice but there would always be a longing for Baltimore. There is something so irresistibly sexy about the wings of a hawk, ready to swoop up the Badger to his doting home.

Jay Cue was a storied GM, but in selecting an accomplished, dedicated replacement like Z-Whiz, the Outlaws' upward trajectory was bound to continue. Jay Cue was a difficult person to replace, very well loved within Arizona, so Z-Whiz found himself with some big shoes to fill. With great pressure to live up to his predecessor's legacy, the Outlaws' new GM has never faltered. The franchise has found its stride, performing the best it has in my player's career under his wise management, and he has kept the essential core together. Once a young team, they are now vets together, and who better to lead than a vet with some bright ideas and an ambitious vision for the future? Others surely applied, but choosing someone who was an outsider would have wrecked the team's chemistry and the locker room environment; surely it would not run as smoothly as it does today. Perhaps even Thomas Passmann, my player, would not have renewed his contract. A guy like Z-Whiz in charge keeps my idea of spending my whole career in Arizona in place. Happy players are the biggest key to a teams success, and part of what fosters a winning attitude for a franchise. This was one of the most important decisions in our team's recent history, and one that had a great effect on what hte last days of my career will look like.

One big decision that has altered the ISFL in several ways occurred during my rookie ISFL season --- the league decided to expand and add two new teams: New York Silverbacks and Berlin Fire Salamanders. Now this is low-hanging fruit to most users but for me, from my perspective, this was a colossal moment in time.

For one, at the time I played for the Baltimore Hawks and we had put together a solid, albeit young roster. Before I was called up, the Hawks made the playoffs but lost in the 1st round. They had just broken a minor losing streak with a playoff berth and were adding more young talent. However, not all the personalities meshed in the locker room and the Hawks traded away Tyler Montain, Maverick Bowie, and Captain Rogers by the end of my rookie season in Baltimore. Our team could be described as absentee ownership.

I have no doubt that the friction led to two of our biggest war room members(including a GM) putting in a quality expansion bid that landed them the Fire Salamanders. Now we were down our two best Wide Receivers. Unfortunately, I was entering free agency and by league rule, had to leave Baltimore if I did not sign an extension. So now the season 24 DROTY is out the door as well.

With no solid owners and all the high quality prospects gone, Baltimore sunk to the bottom and Chika Fujiwara wasted all her prime years on a bottom 3 roster. From my rookie year to now, the Hawks have lost: Tyler Montain, Captain Rogers, Maverick Bowie, Nick Kaepercolin, Asher Quinn, Doug Howlett, Mai Fukushu, James Lewandowski, Felix Archstone, Dex Kennedy, Derred DeVille, Eldrick Avery, Chika Fujiawara, and myself.

Kaepercolin and Quinn went to Berlin and Kaepercolin has become a lethal QB, commanding Berlin to what should be their first playoff berth. Fujiwara led Honolulu to their first playoff berth last season. Rogers has become a rock in New York's backfield. Lewandowski became an integral part of San Jose's offense. DeVille continued to wreak havoc in Sarasota, leading them to their first title last year. I believe Avery position switched in Chicago(where Josh Campbell also resides now). Fukushu had a sudden retirement after the league took over the decrepit Hawks franchise who are on pace to surpass the Yeti's record long losing streak. As for the rest, we all ended up in Austin and have reconnected and are now leading the 2nd generation of Copperheads that are currently tied for the best record in the league after a few re-tooling and rebuilding years.

Looking back at the season 26 ISFL draft, I was selected 25th overall by the Chicago Butchers. My Portland Pythons teammate Lebron James was take a spot ahead of me by the Sarasota Sailfish, but I wonder what things would have looked like if we switched places, with me going to Sarasota and Lebron going to Chicago. Evan Jones would be a really nice rotational piece on Sarasota right now, being able to fill in at nickel back or safety depending on the formations. Players like Jones are nice to have on your team as rotational depth. With star safety Clemente starting to get up there in age, having a well seasoned replacement would lead to a seamless transition with no drop off in play would be critical for a championship caliber defense. James on the other hand would have been the heir apparent to George O'Donnell, taking over as the starting QB as early as next season. The Butchers current QB is getting up there in age, and having a replacement for him is going to be important in this alternate timeline. James would be hitting his peak in the same window as future offensive studs Hayes and Hunt, giving them plenty of time to develop chemistry.
