RE: (S29) PT 1 - Training Camp - MrStennett - 05-30-2021 Outlaws training camp is always an interesting affair. You have your big time stars, like Tatsu Nakamura, who normally ride the stationary bike and yell at the young guys that they aren't practicing hard enough. (I would certainly never do something like this. Never.) Tayshawn Crunk and his boys play poker and smoke cigars over in the equipment managers office. Nobody ever uses the team restroom if they can help it because "Plop" Miller usually gets in there first. We don't really have film sessions. Those types of meetings are usually reserved for gambling strategies for the upcoming season. (I guess nobody thinks it's wrong for players to bet on games in our league?) This is why we must be the most naturally talented team in the entire ISFL. If you could just straight up fuck off like this for the entire preseason and then come out and win double digit games every year, you wouldn't be busting your ass during training camp either. Let's just say that Outlaws training camp is more of an "experience" than anything else and leave it at that. If I get too much more into some of the stuff that goes on, I can almost guarantee I'll be hearing from somebody's lawyers. Naturally, the player to turn up late would be Tayshawn Crunk, for no reason other than him being up until 4am analysing the opposition to ensure that the team is fully prepared for the games ahead. You would probably find Burfict turning up with him but I have this sneaky suspicion that it would probably be alcohol related, as opposed to anything to do with studying the opposition. In terms of how it would go… Well, if my players' performances in the ISFL have been anything to go by so far, I’d imagine he is just getting beaten to a bloody pulp on every single damn play and I was in no way prepared for the step up in speed and technical ability. Nonetheless, it’s all one big work in progress and in time, I am sure it will all work out. Until then, we keep turning up to training, we keep getting knocked senseless and we pray to the sim-gods that it all turns around really soon. Otherwise, I may well find myself demoted to special teams… then what would Mr York do?! Every wide receiver I worked with in San Jose is now gone and I need to learn how to adapt with a new teammate in Campbell. He has had a very impressive camp and I think him and Monty are clicking extremely well. While last season was a downer for our team I think Campbell will breath some new life into us and we will surprise a few people this season. In addition to a new wide receiver, we here at San Jose also are working with our QB of the future Panda McKyle. I have only worked with Monty since I joined the team in S26 so it is a different experience to be catching balls from a new player during drills. McKyle has been learning quickly and I am excited to have him lead this team at some point in the future. Monty has been doing a fantastic job mentoring the young quarterback and is gracious in using his time to help his successor learn. I have seen those two pouring over film after practice to help breakdown mechanics and defenses. The culture of this team is so special and the bonding that has gone on during training camp leaves me no doubt that we are ready for this season to begin. RE: (S29) PT 1 - Training Camp - Painted - 05-30-2021 Training camp sucked. First it started with all the rookies reporting. They all got introduced to the facility and briefly went through the playbook. They had their own scrimmages and everything trying to get up to speed for when the vets showed up. But once the vets did show up, all hell broke loose. In an effort to really get to know what it meant to be a Grey Duck, the coaches thought it would be a good idea to let an actual grey duck coach the team for a day. First, there is no such thing as a grey duck! That is just a local term for “goose” in the game duck duck goose. So they brought in a loon instead. Second, the loon didn’t even know which kind of football we played! He kept going on about “making passes” and “using your head” all day, but no one realized he meant soccer until he got appalled at the rookie wide outs trying to grab the ball in the air. At least the new kicker got a lot of reps in though, but I don’t know how useful kicking under the bar practice will be for in game situations! But hey, the loon did show us all how to fly, and that was neat. Too bad flying is illegal during games. Smh my head. RE: (S29) PT 1 - Training Camp - Raven - 05-30-2021 Code: Written option - The season is officially starting soon, and players have reported back to their teams for training camp. Talk us through how training camp went. Which teammates reported late? What did training camp entail for you and your teammates to do. Do you think it prepared for you for the upcoming season? Any secret plays your team has come up with? So many different ways to go with this, just be creative. Training camp was very interesting experience for Davriel Lavigne this year. As this was the first year he would be practising and training in a position unknown to him. During the last offseason, the defensive cordinator for the Hahalua had been busy working up new plans and schemes for the upcoming season and Lavigne seemed to be the perfect fit to move into the role of a cornerback. Lavigne was contacted regarding this decision and agreed to switch over to the corner and start practising that position. This will have great effect on the upcoming season as Lavigne will have to get familiar and comfortable with an unkown position to maximize on results. Luckily for Lavigne he was able to work together with veteran Jim Waters, who many know as one of the greatest corners in Hahalua history. Waters was able to help Lavigne out and give him all the tips and tricks to excel at the role. Lavigne has reported that this made the whole switch a lot easier and has confience in his preformance come game time. Soon Waters and Lavigne will be the two corners and be a force to be reckoned with as the Hahalua look to capitalize on their excellent defensive players. With the summer approaching in Yellowknife, temperatures were balmy and the usual training drills were not possible due to the above freezing temperatures. Running across the frozen lake chased by wolves and building snowmen that look identical to Yellowknife legend Cooter Bigsby are staples of the training camp most seasons but the lake was not frozen for once, confusing coaches for the first day. Instead the coaches just stared into the distance for the first 3 hours of the first day, confusing the new players to the team. After that they just started pushing everyone into the water until they ran away. A football wasn’t picked up until the 3rd day when QB Colby Jack asked what this egg shaped object was. Colby reboots every season so you never know which Colby you’re going to get and this one had forgotten that football exists. However in a rocky style montage, he started to train and throw balls out over the lake for WRs to catch on jetskis, which went horribly to start with and resulted in the death of ex-Yellowknife WR Dre Matthews but Eddie Jeeta was called up to take his place. Big Slammu made plenty of interceptions as he is a shark and more at home in the non frozen lake.
