When the Minnesota Grey Ducks organization was tasked with sending a representative to Australia, they only had one choice, Cal Stevenson. Cal reportedly has a poster of his childhood hero Steve Irwin hanging up in his locker.

After arriving we heard that Cal’s first stop in Stralia was to their famous zoo to try out his tackling skills on some massive crocs! We can not confirm if he was permitted to enter the crocodile pen. However we can confirm that Stevenson stopped by multiple youth leagues to talk about and teach the fundaments of football and emphasize player safety. Teaching them the fundamentals and the right way to play early will make them better players and instill a passion in these young kids. Youth leagues are a high priority for Cal as kids are the future of the sport and the fastest way to grow the sport in foreign nations.

Cal then mad his way and visited several of the pro team’s facilities. He gave many tips to the coaching staffs on training techniques. In talking with the coaches we have found out that Stevenson gave helpful info on offseason workout regimes and various drills to help improve the players on field skills. Cal also worked out with many of the teams defensive back rooms.
If the ISFL/DSFL keeps sending players like Cal Stevenson I think the international interest in football climb to new peaks.

With the league being as popular than ever and going international, the Chicago Butchers got together to send a representative overseas to host a workshop or young aspiring athletes. A natural leader, CB Tim Soulja. Although he was just called up to the Butchers this season, he has been present during practice even when he was still on the Greg Ducks. His friendly and outgoing nature has earned him the respect of much of the team which got him to host the workshop overseas. Soulja decided to go to England, where there is the biggest fan base for football outside of the U.S. As a former safety and current cornerback, it was only fitting that Soulja hosted a defensive workshop with a focus on the secondary. Soulja knows all the ins and outs of staying with a receiver and reading the back field that helps provide some valuable insight to the young stars in the making. One of Soulja’s famous drills he brought with him over to England was the “Certified Counter” drill. The basics of this drill are to count the number of rep you are on and if you mess up the count, the whole team has to start over. Although it seems simple, when the count is high, the pressure is on.

In light of the league embracing its international community, the Pythons took the initiative to send running back Jax Baker to the place he had grown up: a small town in northern Sweden, famous mainly for a music festival and a lake monster whose name Americans could only pronounce as "Burger."
Jax had been to many places in his years travelling with his former friends, but Östersund, Sweden had always held a place in his heart. Upon arriving he was surprised to be welcomed back in somewhat same. He supposed the fact that someone from their town making it big in the sports world overruled the fact that Swedes knew little to nothing about football as a whole.
Jax intended to change this. He set up a mini bootcamp of sorts to help the local youth to learn about and love the sport, and after garnering enough interest worked with the community to fund a small interschool league and the set up of a modest field to play in. Jax had his work cut out for him, having to teach all aspects of the game alone, he was able to workshop with kids the importance of physical fitness, teamwork and getting into the habit of NOT kicking the ball when it came hurtling towards you.

The Yeti's most famous international player is, of course, wide receiver William Lim. As a South Korean native and one of the most renowned wide receivers in the ISFL, Lim is in a very unique situation to run a football camp in his native country.

In South Korea, American football is not among the list of most popular sports, as the public liking is towards baseball and soccer. So the camp's main purpose will be to generate more popularity for American football rather than giving serious technical advices to would- be pro players. Fittingly enough, Lim is one of the most widely known American football players in Korea because of his nationality and the Korean's tendency, so he wouldn't have much trouble getting people to participate.

As an introductory camp to football, this camp will mostly consist of 'fun and easy' football activities such as flag football and drill challenges. Professional help- while it is sidelined in this camp's priority because of its surrounding circumstances- will be given to those willing to pursue a career as an elite football athlete in one on one basis in separate times. With this approach, it is hoped that this camp and following investments towards football in South Korea will generate enough football fans and athlete wannabes to do a full professional camp next time. In order to expand our international appeal, the San Jose Sabercats sent me to Africa for a multi country trip. The first country I visited was the wonderful island nation of Cape Verde. There I had a clinic to introduce the game of football and teach the kids that attended the basics. It was a fun time trying to teach the children of the island how to properly throw, kick and catch the ball. Next up was a trip to the main land where I visited the lovely country of Nigeria. The Nigerian clinic was different as it was held to help support local coaches that work in the youth leagues that have taken hold in the country. At this clinic, I helped coaches learn the xs and os of the game and learn more in depth strategies for the game of football. These coaches are so important for the future of the game in Nigeria, so working with them felt so important and I enjoyed my time with them immensely.

My final stop was in the country of South Africa, where I helped officiate an pass, punt and kick competition. It was amazing to see so many young girls and boys come out and compete in a competition to a sport that they may have never previously heard of. The competition was fierce and I hope all those young people consider how they can make the ISFL in the future as I would love to see our game grow into a new market and embrace international players.

Language is Italian.

Expanding the game to locations where there will be budding talent is something that pepelegs has been very itnersted in for a long time. Specifically looking for places where he can help develop talent with smol legs as this is a cause near to his heart. With that in mind he went this offseason to Guiana which was the first place he though of when he thought of smol legs. The small south American countries in the jungle were a prime location for people with smol legs, however there were lots of issues Pepelegs had when he went there. The fist of this is, his legs were too smol to track through the jungle to find people in remote locations, common in Guiana. The other major issue was language, as no one there spoke English, making Pepelegs struggle to communicate with people. In hindsight, going alone was probably a bad choice but Pepelegs does not ever think things through. As far as the workshops go, no one showed up and the location was not ideal for football at all. Granted there was not much land to build a makeshift filed due to the thick vegetation, but the location they did choose was too far from anyone interested to allow them to show up. This was a failure for Pepelegs.

In an interesting turn of events, the Colorado Yeti actually decided it was best to send out multiple players to various countries in order to spread their knowledge of the game as far as they could as quickly as possible, the thought being once a couple dominos started to fall it would spread like wild fire. Cole Maxwell was one of the players chosen to go out and spread the good news of the game and he went to a country that was familiar to him, the land of his ancestors, Ireland. Cole had been once before on vacation for a few days so he knew a little bit about the history and layout of Dublin, and the Irish's love for their own futball. He was hoping that with his past experience there he would be able to connect to the people better and show them another sport with almost the same name. He worked with the city to set up a camp to introduce the fundamentals of the game to the children in one of the open fields at Phoenix Park (not any already occupied by the animals) and in the evening held a conference and Q&A session to help explain the game and the benefits to the interested adults at the Convention Centre.
