This effectively just set the market price of people that want to stay offensive linemen. People were throwing over 10 million at Muford and now he's worth less than 4.5. I think a top TPE earner in the league should warrant a massive contract. Yeah that's really the tricky part. I think the costs should be revisited and readjusted if they are out of touch with the market. Obviously players should bring more value to the team than bots. The idea here was to make bots much more expensive than finding an active player so if you did end up with active lineman, you might see some marginal on field impact, but also bigger off-field impact due to how it helps with cap space. This solution definitely limits the upside that someone like Muford could get paid in F.A. However those insane prices we're mainly due to lack of supply of OL and really high demand (Need 40 starters). Do we really want players making huge money because the market can't ever possibly hit equilibrium? Meanwhile offensive lines still can't get enough actives and Qb's are getting sacked 10+ times a game? So yeah it kinda sucks that it limits a big payday now, but I think a really high TPE OL could get paid a ton in F.A. in a few seasons when they start out pacing the bots. I think even forcing money into the equation is pointless. It's like the S1 QB switches, make them free in a limited time period. Do Something About Offensive Line - Keyg_an - 10-20-2017 I'd feel bad for all the current OL that want to stay OL but I think it solves a bigger issue. I agree that in the future that's possible and it might be worth introducing the higher tiered bots as players progress. A 500 TPE OL just became the least valuable position in the league. I think this needs something where higher tiered bots aren't introduced until X things happen (like a player reaches that TPE level in the prior season or the current season, either could work) when that happens the price scale adjusts for all of the bots. So working with the numbers you have, TC just hit 600 TPE so you could active the 600 TPE bot this season or next season, w/e. If next season the 400 TPE bot costs $7,000,000, the 200 TPE bot costs $4,500,000, etc. When the 600 TPE bot is released, it costs $7,000,000, the 400 TPE bot costs $4,500,000, etc. Obviously these numbers could be tweaked, but you get the idea. I think any 600 TPE player in the league is going to be able to easily command over $4,500,000 if they hit the market. I don't think that should change for any position. He won't get to see himself play. He's currently at 97 with a 500k contract. If he does just the training camp next season, he will out pace the tier: 0 bot and be more cost effective for the GM to re-sign him than for him to sign a bot. I get what you are saying about him not being able to watch his character play, but couldn't he also drop down in to the DSFL for a stint til get gets higher up in TPE and becomes more start able in the NSFL? Most players with sub 100 TPE are barely start able in the NSFL. Basically we can benchmark it as a player hits the threshold, they get to be the top dog of that for that year. A bot with equivalent or less TPE is now purchasable next year. So in this example, no OL Bot will have more TPE than the highest TPE player. Pretty sure the updaters don't always update the TPE in the subject line. I used the TPE calculator from the stats section somewhere on myself and it was like 40 tpe off what it said on my player page Do Something About Offensive Line - bovovovo - 10-20-2017 (10-20-2017, 03:58 PM)iamslm22 Wrote:I like the idea enough. Are we giving out 100% free position switches? I agree with this, for a limited time OL should be able to position switch for free and reallocate all TPE, kinda like how QBs were back in S1. A lot of OL are only playing that because of need, this would let them switch if they want and lets anyone who wants to stay as OL stay Do Something About Offensive Line - ErMurazor - 10-20-2017 (10-20-2017, 02:17 PM)iamslm22 Wrote:I don't think it fixes the issue of D Line stats being SO out of whack. I think allowing current OL to switch is what does it. I mean, people will be able to purchase bots that are on par with defensive players and you still might be able to position swap. This is more about not hurting people who don't want to change positions. |
