Was that why the name change to ISFL? Whats the I stand for again? I forget. When I joined, I thought the NSFL abbreviation was somewhat funny. I would google that to try to get to the league home page and would get... not the league homepage. Rather funny.

Anyways, I am uber new into ISFL. I am not sure what changes I could bring about to improve anything. I think you guys run a pretty tight ship around here.

I guess the sim is one thing that I would change.

I know that is a tall task because there is no other sim/manager game out there in the wide, wide world of sports. But I think that game is my biggest issue with ISFL. Dots are flying around on a screen. It is pretty hard to watch, and it is also quite dull to watch.

I know, I know. It is a petty thing to complain about, but that's all you guys really leave for me.

Another thing that I like that you guys do is the grading of graphics. But the turn around time on the grading is quite long. I was continually checking my post for grading like twice a day. Maybe a shorter turn around time on the grading of things.

That's all I got for you! TPE plz!

One of the most important things we need to change around here is this ridiculous contract that the ISFL has with the trainers. I mean, I pay maybe 7 or 8 million dollars to these guys every season. That amount times the number of active players in the leagues is somewhere around 59 bajillion smackers. My numbers could be slightly off but I doubt it is too far off. That's the GDP of an entire country! And this happens every single stinking season. I don't know who has the blackmail video of who but this kind of corruption needs to stop. It is unacceptable. I'm sure if the process was more transparent, we could get to the bottom of this problem. A possible solution is to open the contract up to bidding by acceptable training facilities around the country or world. I'm not saying the current trainers are doing a bad job because week in and week out I see gains that are obvious. All I'm saying is that we could possibly see these same gains at a reasonable price. Or at least do a "buy 10 trainings, get your next trading for free" punch card or something. I have an uncle up in Jersey that could print those up real quick at a minimum cost. I'm just saying, it could work.

I think one of the biggest unsolved issues in the league at the moment revolves entirely around quarterbacks. The first problem is that frankly, there are too many of them. It’s entirely understandable that a player would want to be a QB, since they’re the lead of the offense and all that. However, no ISFL teams have room for a QB right now (or already have replacements lined up), and a true rookie QB would be absolutely horrible in the big league. So with this combination, QBs are sent down in the DSFL for several seasons. But people continue to make QBs though, like this last DSFL draft for example, when there were 7 QB prospects.
So, when some DSFL teams are already running a 2 QB system, these new QB creates are screwed to an extent, since nobody in there right mind would want to run a 3 QB system, and other teams who already have 1 QB, if they’re capped, wouldn’t really want to draft a new QB who’d be at much less TPE.
As a DSFL GM, I've tried to brainstorm ways we could fix or at least partially resolve this issue, but it seems to be a dead end. People will always want to create as Quarterbacks, which is perfectly fine, and there's not much we can do to stop that besides warning them of the struggles a QB goes through. We just have to continue making it work ig, but it's still less than optimal.

Even though I consider myself a veteran member, it has been quite awhile since I have been active in the league. I was active for a somewhat short career with Vander Jones and even held a Co-GM role and was in line to take over as Head GM for the team. That was the only time I was really actively involved in the league beyond just being a player. I do not involve myself in league matters so I really do not have a helpful opinion on what I think could, should, or would be added or removed that could make the ISFL any better than it is today. Sure, I do not like the sim engine, but it's the most practical for running a sim league. The thing I would like to see added is having a DSFL players that are owned by each team in each team's index forum. Yes, they are on the spread sheet with contracts and what not, but that has no link to the player or what DSFL team they are on. I would write more media articles if it were easier to see what ISFL team owns what DSFL prospect easier. I think it's archaic that we do not have this as the PBE implemented it recently and it has been a godsend. It is such an easy change that could enrich the media writer like me experience in the ISFL. Please make it happen, I do not want to go through 10 clicks trying to guess correctly with DSFL team a player is on.

The biggest thing I'd like to see is a change to the site forum. On the surface, the Jcink forum platform visually looks rather clunky. In my other league, the SHL, one of my favourite things about the league is how clean and subtle the forum looks (at least until the New Orleans Specters won the Challenge Cup and the forum turned eye-bleedingly purple). The SHL forum also has features like a live Twitter feed that pulls from a hashtag, a drop-down list of users in site job positions, and an on-site bank database with automatic purchases. I will echo the concerns of other users as well in that the sim engine is outdated, prone to the AI making brainlock decisions in crunch time, and biased against the away team. The SHL got rid of SimonT Hockey Simulator, which was very text-based (no games were actually watched) and extremely exploitable (as Hamilton figured out in S51, which was the death knell to STHS altogether), and we've switched to using Franchise Hockey Manager 6, which is a beautiful sim engine with a ton of bells and whistles. Even switching to Draft Day 2020 would be a big upgrade for the ISFL and allow for fixes of the glitches that have been known for quite a while now.

From my point of view, the league runs pretty damn well. People do a good job in their roles, stuff gets done, and everyone has a good time. The change from NSFL to ISFL is a great one, and I have a few additional ideas for things that can work better. First, I would find another format for banking. As head banker, I find that our banking system works pretty well currently, however the nature of a large, shared spreadsheet means that as more and more entries are added the speed of the whole document tanks. Currently, we are at one of those points. Up until now, the easiest way to increase the speed is by archiving old transactions. However, that is only sustainable up to a point, and is not a great long term fix. Another thing that could be improved is the speed at which Graphics get graded, but that is an old tune, and has already improved quite a bit, and I’m not going to keep harping on it. Finally, I think it would be great to have some sort of application for character creation and updating (or at minimum have a standardized template for updating) because that is an area that new users often get confused on and make mistakes doing. Overall though, I don’t think the league needs any major overhauls.

Written Option: The league has made a major change recently, one which will hopefully prevent future accidental Discord incursions by neo-Nazis getting confused by our less-than-appropriate name. In your view, what are some other changes you think need to be made to the league, its rules, or how it runs? Are there any pressing changes or issues that you think should be fixed?

Too many people in here talking about the sim like we have any other option. Updated DDSFP version? Right, sims streams would take 10 hours to get through, no ability to sim test, we sure like that don't we. Go make us a new sim if you want one.

Too many people saying they want to see FA improve, yet dont move themselves when it's FA time and they a FA. Go and be the change you want if you want change.

Change forums? Nah mate we stan Jcink in this home.

I think one of the main focuses we should have is taking a look at player archetypes and see in what capacity we can make changes to em. We all know 79 speed on QBs is fuckin broken, but how can we fix this? Would dropping the max speed on a game manager to 75 fix it?

Can we look at like half the archetypes which dont get picked and find out a way to get all of these classes to specialize in a specify area of the game. With how broken speed is should we have all archetypes have the same speed, too balance out speed? Althought this will just league us to look at the next best stat and say how can we balanced this now. We might be very limited to how big of a differnce we can make between 4-5 archetypes and maybe just have to look at dropping the number of archetype we offer if 99% of players have the same archetypes.

While there aren’t any pressing changes or issues that I can think of that need to be addressed, there are some things that could be done to potentially improve the experience for some users. One change in particular that I would like to see is the inclusion of more ways to earn varying amounts of TPE. What I mean by that, is point tasks like fantasy, predictions, and other things that allows the opportunity for players to earn more (or less) TPE than other players. It sounds like weekly predictions for all games is coming back for next season, so that is a change that I am very much in favour of. Personally, I would love to even see weekly predictions be worth 1 point per game, rather than 0.5. This could be added at the expense of some other form of point task that is worth a static amount of TPE (for example, trivia, if there are any of these remaining next season, or even weekly written PTs or activity checks). Another idea that was recently proposed by speculadora that I thought was a great idea was a weekly sort of fantasy pick’em, or ‘build a team’ using a certain budget. I think this would be a fun addition.

Another addition that I think could be interesting would be giving users the option to earn a chunk of extra TPE at the cost of being hit with regression earlier or harder. The opposite of this could also be an option, where players could pay a chunk of TPE in order to hold off regression for a season or two, or to be hit less hard with it. This could either be a one time option for players or an annual option (for example, pay 50 TPE each season in order reduce regression by 2% for a single season; [these numbers were chosen at random, calculations would need to be done to find a good trade off point that would not make either option clearly superior).

I love the new name change, but there are still a lot of underlying league problems. For starters, the free agency system here sucks. Money is so easy to come by, and no one wants to ever leave their team, even if their team sucks. It's dumb, considering free agency is one of the most exciting things in the NFL. I wish there was more people who stopped taking min contracts and actually tried to get some money from contracts. It would be really fun if more people started leaving their teams in free agency. Also, players never get traded in the ISFL. Trades are a really fun thing in the NFL, and it's a nonexistent thing in the ISFL. Just as I'm writing this, Butters is saying that people who leave their team in free agency are just people who start drama. This is the exact type of thing we want to stop. This mindset needs to get removed from people. People leaving their teams in free agency should be normalized. This free agency period might be very busy with some big names leaving their team, like Brack and Baby Yoda. I think I'm going to opt out of S24 contract with Arizona and test the waters of free agency. I want to get more money from Arizona, and they better pay me like the best CB in the league.
