Still unsure of his new girth and his new position, Lover confided in his coach that he worried being a big boy on the line would mean fewer athletic or impactful plays. Lover’s coach pulled up some old NFL film of an October 2018 matchup between the Minnesota Vikings and the Philadelphia Eagles. He sat Lover down and told him to keep his eye on Vikings nose tackle Linval Joseph. The snap. Then a fumble. Joseph grabs the loose ball from midair and sets off for the endzone, rumbling 64 yards down the right sideline for a touchdown, changing the momentum of the entire game. The camera then cuts to the sideline, where Joseph sits on the bench sporting sunglasses and an oxygen mask. The coach pauses the video there and tells Lover how that image became a meme that Halloween season, with Vikings fans dressing up as Joseph for the holiday. He reminds lover that the big boys, although often not flashy, make an impact every snap. And when they do have their standout moments, they are loved by teammates and fans alike. Now, Lover has made it a Halloween tradition to pull out the old NFL film of Joseph’s fumble recovery touchdown and wear a T-shirt of the old meme when handing out candy to the neighborhood kids. The fact that Lover could be the spitting image of Joseph from years ago is just the icing on the cake. RE: (S25) - PT 4 - Spooky Scary Season - thevoicelesscreator - 10-31-2020 Despite his high football IQ, one may be surprised at how un-artistic Mo Magic can be. Some would say that it’s more of a lack of creativity, but Mo would be very quick to point out some of his on-the-field shenanigans and in-game prowess. However, when it comes to the celebration of Hallowed Eve, or Halloween as it’s better known, Mo is one of the bigger characters within the Yeti’s locker room that falls flat. Well not exactly flat – Mo tends to stand very tall actually. The Colorado Yeti mascot uniform does have stilts to artificially raise the user’s height. That’s right, every year at Halloween, Mo has chosen to become THE Colorado Yeti. It originally started as a bit of a rookie hazing, but Mo just ran with it. Since then, Mo’s position in the locker room has become one of a leader (partly due to his brother being the GM, but also because of his incredible work ethic, and personal drive), and the Yeti costume has become an annual tradition. Michael on the other hand is usually a little more savvy with his costume. This year, Michael has opted to go as an orange furred Otter for his costume. Obviously a bit of a jest at the expense of the Orange County Otters, whom the Yeti look destined to run into at the big Ultimus game. Michael does have a history of stunts such as these, opting to go as a Pirate Doctor named Buccaneer., MB during his season as General Manager of the Minnesota Grey Ducks RE: (S25) - PT 4 - Spooky Scary Season - AL_GRINGO - 10-31-2020 PBE Welfare RE: (S25) - PT 4 - Spooky Scary Season - Jimi64 - 10-31-2020 Jimi DeSoto is a known horror movie buff as well as Halloween candy aficionado. He will enjoy a quiet Halloween as he munches on all sorts of treats. Of course the classics like, snickers, kit kats, and tootsie pops, but he also enjoys some of the less popular candies, such as those strangely flavored tootsie rolls (lime is great) or those unlabeled strawberry hard candies that only grandmas seem to find. This is a known cheat day for DeSoto, and he’s aware of the sluggishness that he will feel the next day as he goes back to practice. As far as his movie choices, one of DeSoto’s favorite movies is The Shining. One can assume this has influenced his post sack celebration of “Heeeeeeeere’s Jimi!” A good mix of the genuinely scary, such as Hereditary, or the unintentionally funny, such as Troll 2, are a perfect combination for the Halloween season. Usually these movies are watched in the dark, but at least a porch light must be kept on for the trick-or-treaters to know they are welcome! It must also be noted that DeSoto loves trick-or-treaters, and he receives by far the most visitors in his neighborhood. The secret? Full size candy bars of course! These are of course a big hit with the kids, many of whom don’t even recognize DeSoto as a professional athlete, as they just know him as the guy who gives out great candy on Halloween. Well sure, but for us in Colorado, we're all hunkered down in either our home gyms or the football facilities with how damn cold it is outside. I think when you're on a team of this caliber once the regular season starts there are no breaks until it ends. Darrel had a few traditions back in Baltimore; have a cheat day and eat a little candy, see all the new crazy costumes the kids were wearing, and tucker out early after a popcorn and movie session. Out here in Colorado, Darrel's been increasingly determined to do anything he can before his legs give out. All he wants to do is win that Ultimus since his personal stats have never really been too impressive. The rest of the guys in Colorado have pretty similar mindsets, so Halloween, while it was a fun holiday for Darrel in the past, mainly revolves around now lifting weights and continuing the everyday grind of being a starter on the best team in the conference. There are always guys who can take your place, so there are no breaks here. I guess maybe after he gets home after an incredibly long day of practice, maybe Darrel can eat a low-fat granola bar instead of his usual pure protein for dessert. We'll see. 219 words RE: (S25) - PT 4 - Spooky Scary Season - Legally_Blind_Gamer - 10-31-2020 PBE Affiliate Written Point Task PT-21-4 RE: (S25) - PT 4 - Spooky Scary Season - Jay_Doctor - 10-31-2020 Halloween in New Orleans is one of the best combinations around. The city is rich in lore centered around voodoo and dark magic. As such, Halloween is perhaps the most popular holiday of them all here. The absolute best place to check out all the spooky goodness is the French Quarter. There are endless decorations and attractions to intrigue all levels of Halloween goers. There is a dedicated festival specifically on the voodoo side of things. The music, food, decorations and costumes there are some of the most unique in the whole world. I'd be lying if I didn't say that it spooks me when I visit. There are also a ton of haunted houses and even haunted tours covering areas as big as whole city blocks. Perhaps the best part about Halloween as an ISFL player is the chance to blend in for a day. I tried being clever and go as a football player one season, but that was a major backfire. Since then, I've learned to always involve some sort of mask or face paint that covers up my face. As much fun as it is to be recognized in public at times, it's so much nicer to just enjoy yourself and not worry about any of that for a day. Code: 214 words |
