The life of a RB in the DSFL has a lot of ups and downs. Although the vast majority of my carries have been for something close to 1 or 2 yards, there has been a moment where everything was different. I was just beginning my career and it was one of my very first games, I had yet to prove anything to my teammates to gain their trust. I was a RB2 and had very few touches. But then the great Sirdsvaldis Miglaskems became tired after again rushing for a TD. That’s when I came in, only really to drain the clock with a few rushing attempts. We were very deep in our own territory and it was the fourth quarter, so all we could ask for was to keep a hold on the lead and drain the clock. But as I got the ball and looked in front of me, there was nothing. It was a pitch play, I made sure I had the possession of the ball and once my head turned, there were no defenders between me and the endzone. Seventy seven yards of grass and all that could stop me was me not being fast enough. I ran like my life depended on it. The stadium went quiet, as it was an away game. I ran and ran, hearing people run behind me, but nothing was gonna stop me. It was my greatest run, all my teammates celebrated with me. It was everything. It was my greatest moment in this league.

This is going to be a very different post. I came into the league really late and never even got to start a game although I was claimed off of waivers. It seems there was an issue and while I was slated to start the file was never updated to indicate as such. So really my only highlight is being taken on waivers and brought into the locker room of the Norfolk Seawolves. It was a fun experience and I was able to receive build advice. I did complete as much as I could to earn tpe in the span of this rather short and somewhat disappointing stretch. Interestingly even though I never recorded even one single statistic the team never lost a game once I was on the sidelines. I was even called a good luck charm. Maybe that is all I was ever destined to be this year. Obviously, I am hoping to actually get into some games this upcoming season. I am told I will be entered into the draft and that is fine. I can not wait to get out there and actually record some sort of statistic. Maybe even just one catch? I digress but it was a fun experience nonetheless.

Written option: It's hard to believe the regular season will be coming to an end this week already! Write about your favorite highlights from the season so far. Did you or your teammate have a particularly great game? What happened that made it worthy of a highlight reel?

Season 27 of the ISFL has been a successful rookie year in the big leagues for Sailfish defensive end Demon Jaxson. He has really enjoyed his time on the team so far this season. One of the main highlights overall for his team, the Sailfish, would obviously be making the playoffs as the number 1 seed in the entire league, which they wholly deserve at their 12-4 record. For Jaxson on a personal level he's had a couple of highlight worthy games to add to his rookie highlight reel. One such game was the first week of the season when the Sailfish visited the Colorado Yeti. Jaxson managed to rack up 2 tackles, 2 Fumble Recoveries, a Forced Fumble and a Sack to cap off a very good performance for him where he was awarded Defensive Player of the Game. Another highlight worthy game Jaxson had during his rookie season was during week 14 against the Hawks, in Baltimore, another game where he was awarded Defensive Player of the Game. In this game he picked up a tackle and another sack, aswell as managing to notch his first ever score in a game in either league, sacking the opposing Hawks quarterback

The highlight of my season so far has been the New Orleans Second Line game against the Orange County Otters. I managed to get two sacks an interception and a defended pass. We ended up losing the game, but I was happy to have some big plays for the first time on my new team. I came into this season a bit low on tpe as this is my first ever player in a sim league and I didn’t earn that highly the first few seasons as I was still figuring stuff out. This game was when I had got my stats to a point I was happy with and felt like I was able to help the team rather than just kinda be there. I had pretty poor stats in pass defence as I sacrificed my Hands in order to invest in the stats I needed for the Box Safety trait I plan to get in the offseason. Looking back now I should have got all my base stats up to 70 first and then went for my trait stat thresholds next. I think the difference between 50-70 for one stat is probably better than getting two from 70-74, or one 70-75 and another 70-73. Anyway, this was the game where I actually done something and made big plays which made me feel properly part of the team. I’m looking forward to next season where hopefully I can crack on and start being a proper force on defence with the changes to the safety position.

It has been a very difficult season for myself and the Baltimore Hawks and highlights have been far and in between. I have struggled to gain the momentum needed to watch the games as it is always painful to see us get bodied day in day out. So I will just pick the one highlight that myself, A.J. Lucas had in week 15 against the Yellowknife Wraiths. I had come into the season all geared up to get sacks and built myself up that I would be able to grab at least sacks if nothing else, being called up earlier than I was expecting. Unfortunately that didn't pan out and so my highlight is my first career sack. It may not be that special to anyone else but it has been a long time coming, fifteen weeks of waiting to pounce on the QB and my time to shine came in the first quarter. After a smashing run by Vermillion for 70 yards... (definitely not a highlight play..right?) I managed to slice through the defense and sack the QB for 11 yards. It isn't much of a highlight to others and I hope it becomes more of a common sight for Lucas however it is my highlight of the season given how the rest of it went.

As a defensive player, it never feels good to leave the team in a situation where your playoff hopes depend on a literally last minute drive from the offense. In fact, it feels pretty terrible, although we did manage to stop Honolulu around midfield with a minute left to keep our playoff hopes alive. But you have to have some faith that the offense can make things happen. Especially with the Yeti offense, which has been pretty boom or bust all season when it comes to throwing the football. With 59 seconds left in the game and down by seven in a must-win week sixteen matchup against the #1 seed in the ASFC, the Yeti offense took the field. Caliban took the snap, delayed, and let a perfect pass fly to his favorite target – Lim. We held our collective breaths on the sideline as the ball soared through the air, over the head of the gassed defender, and into the arms of the Yeti receiver, who took it all the way home for a 75 yard catch-and-run to tie the game. Our playoff chances were still alive, living on a prayer and hanging on by a thread. The game was going to overtime and we got another shot. Of course, the game ended in a tie, but that was good enough since Philly demolished Yellowknife later in the evening.

With the current season coming to an end, and the San Jose Sabercats not making the playoffs, there is little more to celebrate than some of the excellent performances put on by some of the members of our team. With an up and down season, there were some great games, and some not so great games. A few performances stood out to me, starting with an impeccable game by the entire Sabercat defense in Week 5 versus the New York Silverbacks. Allowing 0 points, less than 240 yards total offense, four turnovers, including a fumble recovery and three interceptions! Our defense was lights out in every area, including limiting up and coming quarterback Sam Howitzer to a 40.1 quarterback rating, and five sacks. You couldn’t ask for a better game from a defensive unit. Another well played game I would like to mention is myself in week five versus the Baltimore Hawks. I’m normally not the one to toot my own horn, but as it stands will be the best game Tychondrius Hood has had in his career. With nearly 200 yards(197) on 5 receptions, and a long of 76 yards, Hood was everywhere on the field that game. Hood would also rake in three touchdowns, completing a complete explosion of a game from the veteran wide receiver.

My own personal highlight reel for Jeeeeroy Lenkins of the Berlin Fire Salamanders in the season 27 campaign was not 1 specific game but the first 8 weeks of the season. During the first 8 weeks of the season Jeeeeroy Lenkins was playing as a lockdown corner throughout and at 1 point was leading the league in interceptions. A lot of my success was down to how solid a defence we had. Being the weakest corner of our starting 3 meant I was being targeted more than the others. During this 8 game stretch I managed to catch my first ever interception in the international simulation Football league in week 2. Then by week 8 I managed to gather more 3 more picks which took my total to 4. Ultimately by week 8 my season had peaked. My early season dominance did not go unnoticed as I was nominated for a position at cornerback in someone's mid season pro bowl article. This was high praise that Jeeeeroy Lenkins was being noticed amongst his peers. Once again my early season dominance came up trump's by on only giving me a career year to date but I also won $5 million in bets. And this is my highlight for the season.
