RE: (S29) PT 1 - Training Camp - The_Kidd - 05-30-2021 Training camp down in Texas featured little drama. Honestly it was probably the most boring but focused camp in the ISFL. This could have went an entirely different route had the Copperheads claimed the Ultimus last season. However, the team overachieving to the furthest possibility has kept everyone humbled. The biggest drama came from the search for three missing players: Doug Howlett, Lesean Paris Crooks, and Eddie Jeeta. None of these players mentioned had updated in a month, but still made it to gameday each week. There were clues that Crooks still hung around the facilities --- often teammates found his pick 'em slips or point tasks journal but they could never track him down specifically. As for the other two, there were rumors of an underground fight club out in West Texas that the duo participated in inbetween game days. The three newest rookies, Gluteus, Candice D., and Bayley were tasked with tracking them down. After weeks out in oil fields and the scorching desert, the trio crossed the duo in Lubbock and were ordered to take them to the Piney Woods, but instead ended up in West Canada because they kept following the snow, starting in the Texas panhandle. Once up there, the two were forced to fight until one could not fight anymore. Jeeta instead tried to run off and the three rooks decided to take Howlett home. Rumor has it that Jeeta found refuge with some legendary pirates. When the 4 returned home, they notice a powerful shadowy figure in the Copperheads facility that carried a powerful aura. The figure escaped into the night, but left behind a bet slip and real estate agent cards. With Jeeta gone, Bayley would replace him in the depth chart for the upcoming season. There was a brief period where Garciaparra was splitting time between minor league baseball and DSFL training which helped him cut down on his weight for the position switch as well as train for better speed across the board. He managed to find a place in the secondary before the coaches asked him to challenge fellow Kansas City cornerback, Siege Cameron, in the return game as well. With his speed, Garciaparra was able to quickly cement himself as a member of the return team which has given the Coyotes a three-pronged attack when it comes to special teams. The training camp proved necessary for Garciaparra as he found other ways to help the team as a safety when it comes down to it so his positional versatility has only grown which has earned him a bit of respect among the coaches as well as some friendly competition between his teammates. While not an outspoken leader, Garciaparra came away from training camp wanting to prove he can still be an asset to his teammates. RE: (S29) PT 1 - Training Camp - Attopax - 05-30-2021 The new call-ups eagerly reported to training camp following their DSFL seasons along with the rest of the team. However, there was one notable absence. Asher Montain was no where to be found. This was unusual given his usually punctual attitude when it comes to team activities. Being a team veteran and leader in the locker room, he usually took these small but influential tasks very seriously. So, he must have a good reason. Simply, he reported late to camp because he had lost track of time partying with @SlurmsMckenzie, the Austin Copperhead's infamous party worm. Fortunately, given that he wasn't out of shape or druk (anymore), he was able to pick things up with the team and catch up appropriately. Therefore, after taking the punishment laps and suicides, training camp when relatively according to plan. Training camp was going to be exciting for the Honolulu press being that the team offense was going to look vastly different from years prior. Therefore, training camp would be used to break this new offense in and see what new schemes or plays could be used that did not fit the weapons that have since departed. The defense would be relatively the same with only shake-ups on the defensive line. This training camp would be the start of a new and exciting era. I am already entering my 4th season on the Philadelphia Liberty. The Liberty had a busy offseason and added a bunch of great looking rookies in the draft. As one of the veterans on the defense it was up to me to mentor the new players on defense. I immediately took the two new Defensive Ends Lucid Dreams and Tomme Salami under my wing and welcomed them to the front 7. A tradition for the rookies is to have them bring water/Gatorade for everyone on the defense for the entirety of training camp. Of course, Lucid forgot them twice in the first week and his punishment was to run laps only wearing their jockstrap. It may seem juvenile, but it does help build up team rapport. That being said, it is still hilarious even after all these years. The front office has really done a good job building up the defensive side of the ball. We went 110% this offseason and I really feel like we are going to wreak havoc on opposing offenses. This is a very tight unit and training camp has only helped push us to the best of our ability. The Liberty are going to be force in Season 29. RE: (S29) PT 1 - Training Camp - TheRocheLimit - 05-30-2021 Coming off of the best season of my career I was more than ready to get training camp started. I wanted to build on the momentum from last year and help push my team toward the Ultimus. I was also excited to get on the field with my new teammates and see what they were all about. After a quick "welcome back" from the coaches we hit the field to go through our very first walkthrough. I immediately made my way to our two new additions on defense, veteran Keʻokeʻo Kāne-Maikaʻi and fresh callup Mongo. I wanted to make sure they both knew they could pick my brain at any point about the nuances of our defensive system. The New York defense is like a family and our new family members were embraced immediately. It turns out that Mongo is actually a bit of a practical joker, and he ended up pulling an epic prank on Bob Roberts. I'm just not allowed to tell you exactly what happened. For legal reasons. I also made a point to seek out our new running back, Brandon Prince. He was working on drills with Captain Rogers and the legend Buster Bawlls when I approached. We hit it off immediately, and I've just got a feeling that this kid is going to be something special in this league. Training camp was a great way to get back into the swing of things. Now it's time to get out on the field and hit someone. RE: (S29) PT 1 - Training Camp - GuitarMaster116 - 05-30-2021 Another season has begun, and I think my player is just about to hit his peak. A scary thought, as he just won OLOTY two seasons ago and came in second of winning it again last season. Over this training camp Mellott has worked harder than ever to improve his blocking skills and become a total wall of destruction, and that has shown now with his blocking being more tenacious than ever. Along with this, Mellott has been working a lot with his long time teammates and newcomers alike, especially on the offensive side of the ball. He worked with his new offensive line teammate Cade Williams and has taken him under his wing to try and mentor him and make him the best player he can possibly be. He also has spent a lot of time with the new tight end of the team Adam Spencer, who previously played wide receiver for a few seasons but had bulked up and switched. So while he was an awesome receiver, he needed some help with his blocking. For some of the other offensive positions, he worked with the two running backs Rotchburns and Roman as well with their blocking, and also tried working with star receiver Ed Barker but since he is a bit older he kind of just rolled up to training camp when he wanted so he was late and Mellott did not get time to work with him. But he did get to work with the up and coming receivers Bodenhammer and the new rookie Crash. Finally he worked a lot with the defensive line consisting of Medicinal Toblerone, LeBong Simwell, and Azarius Ranger. All in all Mellott believes that all of this has helped the team a lot and while the team is still growing the future is looking bright. First off I got instantly called up to the ISFL after getting drafted by the Baltimore Hawks. It was great that I got my chance to prove myself, though I still think I should have been bit sooner in the draft line, its not every rookie that goes out and puts up league leading numbers. But anyway, training camp, the big thing that seemed to have all the buzz, I am switching positions in order to help out on defense better. I am swapping from my outside coverage linebacker normal in order to be a special enforcer as a safety. I honestly take the challenge on fully as my all time favorite player for defense is Brian Dawkins, so being able to go in and do my best to replicate that seems like a great challenge for me to take on. I have been doing a lot of drills with my hands and strength to get a bit better in that regard, it is still a bit new too me as far as positioning goes so my play recognition may take a slight dip compared to when I was in the mid field, but the coaches trust me and I am ready to show out for them. |
