(S23) - PT1 - With a Little Help From My Friends - QuirkyTurtle - 06-19-2020 Austin had a successful S23 Draft where we picked up both future impact players and players that can make an impact instantly. Us Copperheads fell short last season when we lost to the Otters in the conference championships, but Austin are still well within their Ultimus window. Easton Cole is still a league dominating Quarterback and Mako Mendonca is the league’s highest TPE running back but the offensive powerhouse does not stop there. Austin has arguably the leagues best wide receiver duo in Net Gaines and Rod Tidwell. A key player to watch this season will be wide receiver Net Gaines. He takes the reigns as the 1st wide receiver option as Rod Tidwell hits regression. At the time of writing this, Net Gaines currently leads the league in receiving yards at 246 just 2 weeks in. He is poised to break some team records and win numerous awards by seasons end if momentum continues from the dominant start to the year he’s had. Moreover, the defence is hella strong. 1oa pick in Colt Mendoza gets called up to bolster that secondary with the leagues best Dermot Lavelle Jr. And the Defensive line just looks so nasty. S22 Defensive End Slinky Claxton was acquired via trade with the Arizona Outlaws and boy was that a crazy good acquisition. Claxton, Egghands, Idlewyld and Kuusela round out the front four and they are fierce! Austin are coming for that Ultimus and we are feeling good! While i don't predict a whole lot of success for this current roster but i think we will turn a few heads and exceed expectations as per usual for this unheralded band of misfits on the team. Although the offense on this team is relatively young around the rookie signal caller, we have already seen players step up in their roles from guys such as Jamar Lackson being a total threat on the ground, Deondre Thomas-Fox being the goto guy for Monty, and rookie phenom Tychondrius Hood taking some of the defensive attention off of other players. The defense on the other hand is an experienced crew that knows how to get the job against some of the premier teams such as New Orleans and Orange County. The captain of this unit falls onto the shoulders of Tyron Brackenridge as he enters his 7th season with the squad, alongside some of other notable players such as lock down corner HeHateMe Picksix, a loaded defensive line with Otle, Bass, and Kolt & some young safeties to round out an overall strong unit. While we might not win the Ultimus, we definitely will have a fun time. (235) (S23) - PT1 - With a Little Help From My Friends - Rufio_NZ - 06-19-2020 The Tijuana Luchadores are coming off a very successful season after a 0-2 start. This season after week 1 we are sitting at 0-1 but our morale is still high. Our offense is POTENT. We have a capped quarter back in Ben Slothlisberger. Two capped receivers in myself, Doug Howlett and Fredriech Vequain and we have great pieces everywhere else on our team. Both Slothlisberger and Vequain are definitely conteders for leading the league in their positions this year, Slothlisberger is taking on a larger role now that Waters has moved on to the NSFL and Vequain is now only competing in touches with Howlett in the receiving game. All round Tijuana is poised to make another run for the ultimini but could face stronger competition based on the amount of senddowns in other teams this year as well as some key critical call ups they are facing themselves. The teammate situation has been a great one, maintaining a healthy and active locker room with great contribution from all. Updates and earnings are healthy and we look to capitalise on our momentum from last year. We out here building a dynasty and ain't nobody in this league got what it takes to stop this train. Go Tijuana. Go Luchadores. Mucha Lucha. ![]() ![]() ![]() (S23) - PT1 - With a Little Help From My Friends - mithrandir - 06-19-2020 After a disappointing season last year with an early playoff exit, NOLA is poised to get back to the Ultimus Bowl. Our six rookies from last season have all had a year to improve, and we added Literally Just A Hexagon to our secondary to replace retired Deon Taylor. Additionally, the core of our roster is made up of players who are hitting their peak. S18 players David Rector, Marcella Toriki, Givissafare Rubbe, and Xavien Adams are joined by S19 superstars Austin McCormick and Mason Blaylock. Rector, Blaylock, and McCormick all won awards last season and are still in their primes. LB Ugarth the Dissector had a big breakout season last year, winning DROY. I think NOLA's breakout star this season will be Ed Barker. After losing wide receivers to retirement, free agency, and expansion, Ed Barker was asked to carry the load as a rookie last season. He has made huge strides in his sophomore campaign and has gone from a mediocre option to a true number one wide receiver. Through four weeks, he has over 350 receiving yards and three touchdowns. He's on pace to triple his production from last season. With the continued growth of our young roster, I am hopeful that the Second Line can have a successful season. Us Grey ducks have the ultimini on lock if I'm being 100% honest. It's a bit of a shame that the conclusion of the season is such a foregone conclusion but that what happens when you manage to build an all time great roster. On the offensive side of the ball our team features last years dsfl MVP sim snowbow. He is a capped qb who will be lighting everyone on fire on the road to OPOY. Well maybe the best qb in the dsfl doesnt have anyone to throw to you might be telling yourself? Welp sorry to burst your bubble but he has 2 capped wrs. The MVP has everything he needs to have the offensive side of the grey ducks be elite. On defense it all comes down to cornerstone defensive player Woodrow Brooks. Woodrow is, to put it humbly, a man among boys. I am truly sorry for the other offenses in the league that have to face me. I've already predicted OPOY but believe me when I tell you that the MVP next season will be the one and only Woodrow Brooks. The grey ducks will win the ultimini. This is gonna be a team for the ages. (S23) - PT1 - With a Little Help From My Friends - KillKillKill - 06-20-2020 We in Austin have gotten somewhat accustomed to, at least, moderate success. We seem to figure things out in season enough to get us into the playoffs with some regularity, but since our Ultimus win a couple seasons back, we haven't been able to have that breakthrough moment that gets us over the hump. I feel that last season's playoff exit was due in large part to our inconsistent defense. We couldn't stop plastic bag blowing in the wind. Our offense can only be expected to do so much a game before the defense needs to get locked in. That's been our road to ruin the last few playoff appearances. Not necessarily our defense, but it always seems to go the way of one major facet of our game not showing up. Whether it be an entire offense or defense, or individual groups like DBs or WRs. I've always said that Austin is a team to look out for if they can ever get things figured out all at once and have each cylinder firing at full capacity. We have talent on both sides of the ball. We have a seasoned and successful QB in Easton Cole. If you have talent at the QB position, that will lead to overall success. True we have had success in the regular season, but regular season wins don't stack up against Ultimus victories. Code: 230 Words (S23) - PT1 - With a Little Help From My Friends - DatSmolBoi - 06-20-2020 I have so much hope for the Pythons this year. Let me start with the team. Replacing O'Donnell who went to Chicago was Sam Howitzer, a rookie QB that starts this year for the pythons. In my opinion, Sam Howitzer is doing as good as O'Donnell with Portland, throwing 179 yards in the first game against the Bucs, while in typical O'Donnell fashion, also throwing a interception. With this record, he is currently third in passing stats which is really good for a 181 TPE QB. He is going to be a huge help for the team. At RB we got Joseph Petrongolo and Keynel Mczeal, 2 RBs that came back to Portland for another season. For WRs we got two returnees Videl-San and Sean Snyder with the S24 rookie Korbin Brown. For offense aswell we have Nick Marksman, Mai Fukush?, and Pseudo QB, (Do kickers play punter aswell?). Now its time to move on to the defense. For starters we have a powerhouse Omar Whight JR, a 241 TPE Linebacker that will literally hit your car with a rock if he wanted to. We also have Dorothy Zbornak on the Defensive End side. Others on defense are Myles Smith (The Linebacker) and Joel Drake (The Safety). You can tell that this team is prepared for anything that comes to them and will be a huge impact to the DSFL. Good luck SFC. It's been different being on a new team but everyone has been really awesome and fun to play with. With most of their team returning in tact I am hoping to bring something extra to get them over the playoff hump that most say they are in. Hopefully with me as another weapon and the amazing defense they have we get finally get them a championship they all deserve and Jackson can add that to his resume as well. I'm back at Wide Receiver two now which doesn't bother me much as I've had my time as a one. I feel like we can definitely win the Ultimus this season but we shall wait and see how the season plays out. One guy to definitely watch is Skyline. That dude is amazing and can do things running and catching the ball. After winning rookie of the year award last season I feel like he can definitely be a breakout star on this team. That's not saying he will replace our starter by any means as he's a stud as well and had been for seasons now. The things they can do is very impressive and fun to watch. Our defense is lights out much better than most of the league is say so far on the season. Just had a shutout and held Colorado to 16 points which is awesome. Besides the Baltimore breakdown, which was more offense stalling, I'd say we are good on the season as far as defense goes. That's what I think about the team and who will be a breakout star this season on the Wraiths. Hopefully I can make a decent impact as well and hopefully make my fourth straight pro bowl appearance. Bender looks like he's poised to be a dominant force as well this season. |
