Joseph Radetzky will obviously dress up as himself, Joseph Radetzky, famous Austrian marshall and military leader. The outfit is pretty simple, you just have to look like you come from the 19th century, there are a lot of military medals on your chest and you have to do a lot of marching, to the sound of the famous march named after Radetzky, the radetzky march by Johann Strauss. For this outfit you also need to have an amazing mustache to look the part and thankfully Joseph has that mustache already so he can dress up much more easily. Dressing up for halloween is fun and I enjoy doing it. I wish there were trick or treat people at my door, but obviously with covid that has not happened. There will be lots of excitement though next year when we can hopefully all celebrate it again and get dressed up and enjoy some booze. I had some good halloween parties before in my life but none in a while. When it comes to halloween, I try to go for cool outfits and easy costumes that are not too different. I don't want to be covered in paint or wear something that will cover my face, that would just be too much, but wearing a regular special outfit can be very fun.

While usually, Marcella Toriki is out and about with family and friends for the spooky season, this year she is spending the holiday working. Halloween will see the running back hosting the first of a full schedule of fundraising events for her charity, Girl Strong. She has various events across the United States from Halloween until New Years as she and the organization seek to expand the organization into 25 new cities to celebrate 25 years of the ISFL. For the Halloween Fundraiser, Toriki and company will be hosting a masquerade ball in her current hometown of New Orleans. The event is sure to have a lot of familiar faces, as many other players on the Second Line have been proponents of the charity. There will be a full menu planning meticulously by ISFL's resident foodie, Bubba Thumper. We have not been able to confirm if Bubba will be in attendance, though the close friendship between Bubba and Marcella is well documented. Toriki will be donning a very stylish Robin Hood outfit, fitting as she tries to separate people from their money for the worthy cause of supporting women in football. We have not been able to confirm if her brothers will be attending dressed as some of her merry men, but we are certainly hopeful.

The Philadelphia Liberty locker room is a particularly spooky place at Halloween because, if you were unaware, the Liberty are the victims of various curses. Some of these curses are well-known, others less so. The longest-running and perhaps most well-known curse afflicting the Liberty is a sort of general curse, that has existed for many, many seasons. For that story, we have to go all the way back to Season 6. It was the Ultimus, where the 9-5 Liberty were taking on an 11-3 Orange County Otters team quarterbacked by the legendary Mike Boss. The score was 23-17 in favour of Orange County, but the Liberty had the ball on 1st and 10 at their own 28 yard line with 4:56 left in the fourth quarter. Nine plays and 71 yards later, the ball was at the Orange County 1 yard line. 1:27 left to play. 4th and goal from the 1. Tyler Oles dropped back to pass, and threw the ball in the direction of future Hall of Fame wide receiver Josh Garden. The play-by-play reads the immortal line, once enshrined in many signatures around the ISFL: "Pass by Oles, T. to Garden, J. was dropped! Incomplete. Turnover on downs." The Otters got the ball back on the 1 yard line, ran for a first down and the game was over. Bad luck has seemed to follow the team ever since, often considered one of the unluckiest franchises in the league, leading to speculation that Philly was cursed.

A second famous curse is the succinctly named "kicker curse". Every kicker in recent history for the Liberty has been taken from the team in one way or another. The first was Baxter Frost, who retired after winning a Punter of the Year award. A few short seasons later, his replacement Venus Powers was selected by the Honolulu Hahalua in the S21/S22 expansion draft. Powers was replaced by Lefty Louis, who went inactive shortly after. Louis was replaced by Karmichael Hunt, who after an impressive rookie season was selected by the Berlin Fire Salamanders in the S24/S25 expansion draft. At least from a Philadelphia perspective, tragedy befalls its kickers.

The S24 Liberty started 0-9, the result of another curse. A doll was placed in the Philadelphia locker room the offseason prior. By whom, no one knows. Nothing much was made of this, until the Liberty started blowing 4th quarter lead after 4th quarter lead. One member of the team speculated that the doll, or "Jobus", was responsible and things began to escalate. The doll was eventually destroyed, at which point the Liberty won their next game (an overtime victory against the Austin Copperheads).

The above is a very long way of describing what Brandon Booker and his Liberty teammates are up to on Halloween, and why. The players are huddled together in prayer, hoping to ward off the evil spirits (mainly just Jobus) that hope to destroy the organisation. Prayer, diligence and devotion is required in order to keep the Liberty winning games, and to save their rookie kicker Jake Fencik from the kicker curse. (500+ words. oops.)

Halloween is one of Matt Cross's favorite holidays. When he was a kid, he always would go trick or treating with his friends and dress up in fun costumes. Now as an adult, while he doesn't go trick or treating, he does enjoy hanging out and watching scary movies with his friends. This year, Cross is spending Halloween with his teammates Wesley Eriksen, Brandon Booker and Jimi Desoto. They plan on having a halloween movie spree, but they haven't decided which movies to watch yet. Cross is bit of a scaredy-cat when it comes to scary movies, but the guys have been trying to pressure him into watching Chucky, Halloween, or any of those more popular horror movies.

One tradition that Cross does have is that he likes to bring the rookies goodie bags, filled with their favorite candies and treats. Throughout the year, Cross will bring candy in to practice to secretly find out everyone's preferences. He notes down what some rookies like, and what others don't, and by the time Halloween comes around, he knows just what to get them all. He also includes one of his signature Candy Corn Cupcakes in the bag as well. He enjoys doing this because by the time Halloween comes around, the rookies have gotten pretty well acclimated, so he wants to make sure they know they have a special place on the team alongside the vets.

Daymond Brooks was raised literally believing Halloween was satanic, so he has only recently celebrated the holiday. He definitely missed out on all the festivities of Halloween. As a late bloomer, he stopped trick-or-treating at age 21 when he was a junior in college. His favorite Halloween party was a screening of Tommy Wiseau’s ‘The Room’ back in college. Everyone dressed up as their favorite character from the film. Daymond went as Mark. These days, Daymond has been utilizing his home theater in his Chicago mansion for showings of classic horror movies for his teammates. This is a tradition he has held since entering the league. With an expansive movie library, it often takes a while to mediate a choice. Sometimes he still goes and trick or treats when he’s with his nephews, but he has to resist the urge to take their candy. Since becoming a professional athlete, Daymond has been building a collection of movie memorabilia spanning several genres including horror. One of the rooms in his house could easily be mistaken for a movie museum. He has spent close to three million dollars on this endeavor alone. If he keeps building this catalogue of set pieces and costumes, he’ll surely need a bigger place. Or else he won’t have room for kids.

There are plenty of Holidays in the calendar year but one that isn't a big deal to tre'Darius J'Vathon is Halloween. If anything J'Vathon is more excited about the night of mischief that comes with Halloween. Despite being in his early 20's he still gets together with his old high school friends and eggs houses and vehicles or throws firecrackers at trick or treating kids. He may catch a charge of vandalism or reckless endangerment for throwing fireworks at kids but he's a fast runner and would likely not get caught. Risking his career is worth it for a night of fun and capturing on his youth with his old buddies that don't get to see each other often due to J'Vathon's profession. However J'Vathon had to set some time aside to bond with his new team in Sarasota as he has only been with them for half a season so far after being trade mid-season. He has gotten with his teammates for a night of drinking, beer pong, and scary movies. Good wholesome fun that builds bonds amongst men. J'Vathon is set to become a free agent after the year but he hopes to re-sign with Sarasota and continue the bonding he has been working on. Heck, maybe next year his teammates will join him and his former high school buddies on their night of mischief and egg all the rich homes and vehicles.

This Halloween is a special Halloween as it is my baby girls first Halloween. She is 6 months old and the mother has been dressing her up the whole month. She has many costumes from insects to famous travelers.  Since she is so young obviously we won’t be trick or treating (I don’t think many people will be trick or treating due to covid) but we will dress her up as we always do and the wife and I will probably just drink some wine and watch movies while taking care of baby. Of course we will take lots of pictures too because how can you not when you have a child. Now before covid had happened and before we had the child we would go to Halloween parties where everyone would dress up. I always used to go as a roman solider or a wrestler haha. There were even years where the wife and I would win best costume contests. Of course we would also socialize with other couples and friends and play charades, drink beer or wine and have dinner. Thinking back on it Halloween was probably the only really let loose holiday and I look forward to having more in the future when my girl is grown up and the wife and I can go back to the dinner parties again and hire a baby sitter to watch the kid.

That is right, it is Halloween season once again!  An evening of ghastly ghouls and spooky spirits for all those who choose to partake in this frightful affair!  But what do the members of the Yellowknife Wraiths do on a night such as this?  Surely it must be something grandiose, I mean, their mascot is a Wraith after all...right?  Some of the players up here really go all out with the haunted houses and the costume parties.  Don't even get me started on Zee Rechs' Mandalorian flamethrower...  Let me put it this way, it is going to be a while before Johnny Helzapoppin's eyebrows grow back.

Other players really get into decorating, just look at Douglas Quaid for example!  That guy becomes a whole different person when Halloween rolls around.  Nothing tops his drive by shooting scene from a few years back, nothing!  The thing about Quaid, that man wants things as realistic as possible.  All that blood on the car?  That was real blood!  All those bullet holes in the car?  We actually spent most of the day shooting it up.  Good times...

As for me, I prefer the tradition of reverse trick-or-treating I started many years ago.  What is that you ask?  It is quite simple, you just walk around the neighborhood and throw candy at everyone you see!  Ring a doorbell and just blast them in the face with a Snickers when they answer, especially if they're giving out apples or dental floss!
