(S22) - PT2 - Lazy Days - bex - 05-10-2020 It's hard to say what Marcella Toriki doesn't do for fun. While she's a professional football player by day and psychology nerd by night, this half of the famous G&T duo is constantly finding ways to make her own fun in her free time. Frankly, a lot of her hobbies are centered around family! Skyping with members of her family across the globe, meeting up with friends from college and from across the league when their paths cross, all sorts of connections. Off-season brings time to live it up in New Zealand, get back to her roots and play rugby, and follow any other travel bug urges that strike her. On the day to day during the season, she fills her downtime with art and other activities to refresh and recharge! She practices yoga and meditation, something she picked up from living with her brother for a while. She also likes making practical goods, such as blankets and scarves, things she can work on while she sits down for the occasional horror movie marathon or documentary bender. She is constantly picking up new things too and has recently taken to doing sudoku while she eats breakfast in the morning to engage her brain first thing. Marcella Toriki likes to stay busy, and will do just about anything to be able to stay occupied. This meant that for the first time since going to College in Ohio, he could return home to Texas, to his family and to his past times. Raphael, as like most members of the d’Alcott family, spends the offseason helping maintain the family farm. It's honest and fulfilling work which also has the advantage of keeping Raphael in shape off the field. It’s the reason why the term “Farm Strong” is real and not a buzzword. When he is not working on the farm, Raphael is indulging in all things americana. He and his family hold barbecues with all of their neighbors and friends. Sometimes over 50 people show up to these events and it’s a great time with great food and great laughs. According to Raphael, his father has a secret 100 year old brisket recipe that is to die for… though that might be just hyperbole. One very important thing to Raphael is his christian faith. He attends church services every Sunday, no matter if it's in Texas, Ohio or anywhere else. The faith has been with the d’Alcott family ever since they laid their first plot of land in Texas and it has helped keep the family out of the usual trappings of drugs, alcohol and other pitfalls that can lead to disaster in later life. In 200 words or more, describe what your player does for fun outside of football. Do they have any interesting hobbies or passions that they invest their time into? Are they in any athletic activities other than football? Do they sleep all day? What are they like off the field? Since Ray-Ray Jackson was little, his parents had always made him play a number of sports. So Jackson has really had the chance to touch base and get a feel for almost everything. Usually the day after a gameday, Jackson likes to relax and play a round of golf with his friends. It's something that he has been doing for a while now and he really enjoys it. He gets to get away from all the noise and really has a day where he can enjoy the beautiful courses and focus on his mental side of the game. Jackson also enjoys playing pick up basketball at his local court. Basketball is a sport that he had a chance to play in high school as well as in college but instead, he chose to go down the football path. If it wasn't a professional football player, he would probably be playing professional basketball somewhere. Jackson is also an avid board game player. He likes all the classics like risk and monopoly but will try anything new. After his daily practices, Jackson always likes to keep his body in shape so you can usually find him in the gym. He's always doing something that keeps his body and mind in peak condition so that he's always ahead of the curve when it comes to being ready to play physically and mentally. Outside of football and family, he is an avid fan of horse racing. Early in his career, Pete bought a 40% stake in two promising young racehorses, Lunar Warrior and Blood Machine. Although they do not have any major victories under their belts, they have had respectable careers and sired many foals. More recently he received his thoroughbred license, fixed up a local stable, and bought a new foal named Big Pete. Miller, a Kentucky native, says winning the Kentucky Derby someday is his “ultimate goal”. Of course he has a staff dedicated to the care of his horses, but Miller likes to be hands on. That means he’s up at 5 to make sure Big Pete is ready for an intense day of training. Maybe he needs a new shoe or an ankle taped. Maybe it’s a cold day and he needs a blanket. By the time the trainer gets there at 6, Big Pete is ready to go. Miller spends the rest of the morning cleaning the stalls, adding fresh bedding, and filling the food/water troughs. After a quick snack, Miller joins the trainer to discuss the progress and plans for the next days and weeks. And that’s only the morning. There are no lazy days for Pete “Plop” Miller. His specialty is bread specifically sourdough. There is an old family yeast culture in the Suzuki family that has been passed down for generations and is the secret to their famous bread. Before Suzuki was drafted to the DSFL, he was selected as a participant in the Fake Great Bake Off, but ultimately declined to continue training for football. After he retires he would like to continue his family’s tradition by opening his own bakery. When off season comes around and Spike has more time, he likes to go backpacking. Before his isolation in his mountain house during the off season, he took a trip to the Amalfi Coast to hike Italy’s Walk of Gods. Being in nature’s element helps Suzuki stay in a mindset he likes to carry through the football season so there is truly no off season for him. He tries not to game too much, but will check into his Animal Crossing town daily to keep up with maintenance of his island. He currently has a five star island with his house fully upgraded. He loves to visit his friends' islands and always leaves a gift for them. (S22) - PT2 - Lazy Days - juicychase - 05-10-2020 Simeon Works is quite the adventurist off the field. He has a multitude of hobbies that revolve around extreme sports and exploration. Just last year, he accompanied James Cameron on a dive down in his submarine to study vents on the sea floor. In December, he did a cross country snowmobile ride through the Yukon while only wearing a tuxedo. He also likes to Scuba Dive, having gotten his deep water certification at the age of 14. He has been down to many ship wrecks and dived the Great Barrier Reef 3 times. He helped film part of Discovery Channel's "Blue Planet" during his first summer back from college. He also really enjoys mountain climbing. He mainly focuses on Ice Climbing but has done a couple of mountaineering expeditions as well. Next summer, he is planning on tackling Denali and Mount Fuji. He recently took up base jumping and sky diving as a new way to get his adrenaline rush. He had a close call last year when he almost hit some power lines that weren't clearly marked on the route. The wing suit he was using didn't fit his massive frame correctly and almost could not pull up in time to avoid the power lines. He has now ordered a custom fitted suit that should be safer for him to use in the future. (S22) - PT2 - Lazy Days - StamkosFan - 05-10-2020 Thomas Passmann has some wonderful and wholesome hobbies outside of football. He is something of an artist, practicing his sculpture by carving cryptic messages and crude drawings on live animals and human cadavers. This hobby started off in a morgue when he was a kid; he was just enameled with the lifeless, empty state of death. The pale skin just needed to have a pentagram etched in blood. The sound of tearing flesh and the spurting of blood was relaxing and soothing. It inspired Passmann to delve into a world of artistry he never imagined himself in. He later got into craftsmanship, learning wood work at a local school. He started manufacturing wooden boxes, which the normal mortals referred to as “coffins.” These boxes were given intricate designs and a sleek coat of paint, further allowing him to showcase his artistic hobby and demonstrate his personality. The smooth boxes were blank canvases, and picturing them in use at a funeral, that idea was just invigorating. Perhaps his cult’s human sacrifices would get to use one of his coffins one day. His art was making a difference, and was something that he could possibly encounter in the real world. These things provide a great escape from football and are a wonderful outlet for the Satanic wide receiver’s morbid fantasies. (S22) - PT2 - Lazy Days - lamboalfredo - 05-10-2020 Before his football career began, Donatello was a pizza chef in training and working towards the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana certification. His love for pizza runs in the family. His family has owned and operated a Neapolitana pizza shop for three generations and he was set to take over the family business until football took over. Donatello was running an underground pizza business from his dorm room during his time at the University of Washington. Since joining the NSFL, Donatello worked on his craft during the off-season and recently opened up his first brick and mortar pizza shop, Flavortown Pizza. Since opening, Flavortown Pizza has become one of the highest rated pizza shops in London and known for not only their traditional Neapolitan pizza, but also new pizza flavors, such as, spicy pineapple pizza. Donatello plans on opening a second location when he joins the Philadelphia Liberty next season. Outside of pizza, Donatello is an avid Yu-Gi-Oh Card Game player. He is heavily involved in the sport, not only competing, but also judging and sponsoring tournaments. There is a rumor that Donatello is also involved in an underground Yu-Gi-Oh fight club where he has banished at least a dozen other competitors. Although he won't confirm or deny his participation, Donatello did speak to the heart of the cards within himself and his ability to bring it onto the football field. 230 words (S22) - PT2 - Lazy Days - Thiath - 05-10-2020 Lazy days aren’t exactly lazy for Ragnar Rok. Rarely will you find Rok taking any sort of time off, even if he’s not focusing on the NSFL itself. When he isn’t obsessively watching game film, or strategizing for the next game, he is often spending his time trying to build something. What that is, or what it’s trying to be is almost impossible to tell, as he becomes distracted easily. It is rumored that Ragnar once spent 3 days straight attempting to rebuild an old grand piano he bought at a yard sale for 15 dollars. Just to have something to do. Another rumor says he’s spent the last several months in search of a 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback. On multiple occasions he’s said that it is his “dream car” Yet another rumor claims he is always looking for something to do, he doesn’t like to take days off, as he always feels he needs to be doing something. It’s clear that Ragnar is a very competitive player as he is always finding a way to get an advantage. While he was on the Dallas Birddogs, sources say he spent half the year taking law classes, in an effort to find away to improve the NSFL. |
