RE: (S24) - PT 5 - Trade Ya - ForSucksFake - 09-12-2020 So, typically trading cards are meant to celebrate legends and all-time greats (aside from immortalizing every era of players any given year.) Sure, pulling a Franklin Armstrong is exciting. He's a 3-time champion and shoo-in for the Hall of Fame. I'm suggesting we immortalize the big whiffs. First-round picks (especially players chosen first overall) are supposed to be franchise changers. These are the guys that scouts are all unanimous on. Surely a first-overall pick couldn't disappoint? BAM! There it is. I say Dotts should start a line of cards remembering the great busts of all time and with tongue firmly in cheek call the brand "Generational Prospects." Players like Rickey Ramero, J.J. Reigns, and Mack Arianlacher. I get that not every player is going to pan out like you hope they will and this isn't intended to lampoon anyone. I just think it's an important part of the league's history that will reiterate just how hard it is to nail the ISFL draft as a GM or Front Office member. I think it may take a bit of combing through the history books and statistics but I think it would be worth it. It would certainly be good for morale. Take it from the guy who has an autographed book from Ryan Leaf. If you're wondering, yes, he can still throw the ball pretty hard.

RE: (S24) - PT 5 - Trade Ya - majesiu - 09-12-2020 pbe pt RE: (S24) - PT 5 - Trade Ya - Tylus - 09-12-2020 I’ve really enjoyed Dotts trading cards so far, and there are only a few things I can honestly think of to improve them or to add to the collections but I shall give it a go. I think adding some “special” meme cards could be fun, perhaps some kind of card for fails could be cool, like when I think it was Banks(?) ran that backwards run for 50 yards, or an F speed Jamar Lackson, to name a few ideas. I also think adding cards for newly broken records would be nice, such as most touchdowns or yards, or for interceptions. Position groups would also make a great addition, but only for a group that has been much more amazing than average. I also think cards should be sellable, while maintaining the rarity of getting valuable “rare” cards. It would make more people want to buy packs for a chance to get a high value card, I know it would definitely inspire me to buy more packs for my chance to get a card worth selling. In my opinion keeping “rare” cards actually rare and hard to get would also make the packs more ideal, it would make the feeling of getting a valuable card even more fun. RE: (S24) - PT 5 - Trade Ya - QuirkyTurtle - 09-12-2020 So far I think Dotts has been a really great success. As soon as I heard it was happening and they needed new employees to work on the cards I applied instantly. I was tasked to design and deliver the specialty series Awards cards. I had a great time making all 46 cards except for the duplicate winners. Many players in the last two season have won more than one awards and therefore im tasked to find multiple high quality images of those players and some users renders are odd to say the least, or just aren’t that well known. One such render was Andy Isabella. The render of the user CLGRampage’s player Mathias Hanyadi. As most are aware of, he has won a multitude of awards in the past 2 seasons. 5 to be exact. That meant I had to find 5 separate images of Isabella and that became an annoying task to say the least. Beyond that though, I had a great time creating. I may be a little biased but I do like my awards cards, but also the Ultimus Champion cards created by shadyshoelace are incredibly well done. Early on while discussing potential specialty series I brought up the idea of ultra rare shinies. Similar to pokemon, with any card you pull, there would be a very rare chance it would turn into a shiny. This however would take a lot of work for both card creators and our sole website developer Caltroit. But I still one day hope for that to happen. Words: 257 RE: (S24) - PT 5 - Trade Ya - xenosthelegend - 09-12-2020 I pulled a wide receiver of the year in my third pack so I am having a great time with dotts trading cards. As of right now these trading cards are just the second part of the name, cards. I would like there to be an actual trading system. Another thing I would like is in each new event where many cards are released at once, there will be a set amount of a rare card where it can only be pulled x amount of times. We have Ultimus cards, why not Ultimini? Draft cards, rarity is by draft position or order the players at a position went. Another possible series on the topic of drafts is late round gems, a series dedicated to players taken late in a draft who went on to become great players. Also, when a GOAT TANK card is released it better be a goat in a tank. As of right now there are only ISFL cards, I believe there should be a DSFL legends series, a bunch of cards of players who were great in the DSFL. Something interesting that I think should also happen is free agent tier cards, players who are <100 TPE and a free agent, who haven't been active in months are on this borderless card. RE: (S24) - PT 5 - Trade Ya - gucci - 09-12-2020 There's a very simple way in my mind to incentive ISFL players to not take minimum contracts. Make the minimum contract values higher than they are now for active players (not IAs). By doing this you take away the option for minimum contracts as we know them now. Right now so many teams are hoarding talent on minimum contracts or even DSFL contracts. By forcing the league to pay players more, they will be unable to continue these practices and the league will be able to expand without hijinks and (like real sports) teams and players will be forced to make hard roster decisions, bringing the quality of play up for each team. This would also likely mean a de facto maximum contract, which in theory exists, but has never been tested in this league. Right now, the salary cap in this league limits the number of active players you can have on a team. However, this is not why a cap should exist. Salary caps should exist to limit the QUALITY of players a team can afford to keep. Think of the Steelers of the 70s who won four super bowls in a 6 year stretch. That is why the salary cap exists to enforce competitive balance, and when a system enables a team like NOLA to have 11 players, or Colorado with 9 players with higher TPE than the Hahalua's third highest, you realize the salary cap is pretend and doesn't really matter as is. RE: (S24) - PT 5 - Trade Ya - cho1325 - 09-12-2020 I finally got my feet wet with a free pack recently on the Dott’s website due to the duplicate deleting error. Personally I didn’t plan on buying any because honestly I don’t see the benefit of it but I can see why some people would like to collect them. With the limited amount of cards I did receive and my own experience with collecting sport cards while growing up here are some of my inputs. Not sure if holographic cards were added in but that would be a sweet idea and a way to inflate the card pool. Adding holographic card to normal cards always feels like a spruce up and makes the card feel more rare then it probably is but hey its holographic. Adding special series of limited time series cards would also inflate the card pool and give collectors more reason to buy more packs. These limited series cards can be 1-100 and be limited in quantities. I think eventually adding a way to either sell or buy cards would vastly improve the experience and if that ever does become an option I would probably start thinking about looking into doing it more because then it is a legitimate way to either start making money or invest into just like the stock market. These are just my two cents but I really think setting up being able to sell and buy cards would be a win. RE: (S24) - PT 5 - Trade Ya - Rise of Smitty - 09-12-2020 The Dotts is a great addition to the league as an alternative fun thing to do when there are no sims going on. Personally I am a sports cards and memorabilia collector and work for a sports card company. I have been collecting cards since I was a kid and have seen the hobby evolve many times over in my 20 years of collecting. While it is difficult to do as a digital card I think adding "authentic" autographs from the players would be a fantastic addition to the card line. The way I see this happening is legitimately being authentic. If it were possible for each user that owns a card to sign something with their actual signature, probably digitally, and be able to transfer that over onto a digital card for an autograph set would be incredible. I would love to create a "Vander Jones" autograph and submit it for his card. I do not know if that's possible but it would be something I advise looking into. You can also include many parallels, numbered versions, 1-of-1's, relic cards, etc. The ground work is already laid down in the sports card world and transferring that over to ISFL digital cards would be awesome. Hopefully we can expand on the basic cards and start creating some truly magnificent additions to the Dotts program. RE: (S24) - PT 5 - Trade Ya - PaytonM34 - 09-12-2020 The dotts trading cards are the best thing to ever come out of the NSFL because the amount of work that went into it was insane so first off props to all those involved in making the dotts trading cards come to life great job everyone The biggest addition I want to see to the dotts trading cards is the repeated waiver abuse collection including all of the terrible terrible sins that former Tijuana and New Orleans second line GM Ben has committed and they should all cost $10m per card, the total amount of money initially fined towards Tijuanas scapegoat GMs which was eventually overturned because of how ridiculous the punishment was. Possible cards include "Tijuana Championship" and "Rose the Druid" and "Travel the World while the team mass retires on you" If I could gather up the money to buy cards (because I'm broke as fuck) , I would buy 8000 copies of any Myrtle Beach / San Antonio cards or collections and then give them out for free to people just to drop the price down , because real rivalries never end and you should go to extreme measures to prove to others that you take your sim league football rivalries seriously 202 RE: (S24) - PT 5 - Trade Ya - angeloc - 09-12-2020 Incentivizing people not to take minimum contracts is a very tough question, because at the end of the day the personality of the players in your league will dictate how a particular free agency period is going to operate. If you have a league that is consistently ring hunting then obviously the incentive to take lower value contracts would be there. One way you could incentivize people to not take minimum contracts though would basically be uprooting your system and making it so all players or all ISFL active players instead of being able to earn money via media spots and twitter you make that worth a set amount of TPE and lock player monetary gains behind their contracts, do people have enough money banked up to survive a few seasons to take minimums and still have enough to get max equipment. I'm sure but long term this would solve your minimum contract problem. You could combine that with the NBA bird rules and have teams able to go over the salary cap to sign their players to bigger deals and make it harder for them to stack better players without signing those players to lower contracts, which will hurt their TPE output. Make it a sacrifice in some way to sign as a talented player to a lower contract, that's what I would do anyway. Code: 226 words |
