RE: (S26) - PT 5 - Fortune Teller - mithrandir - 01-04-2021 The New Year is fast approaching along with a flashy new sim, a wave of re-creates, and a potentially larger draft class overall. What do you think 2021 is going to look like for the league? Do you think the new sim will dramatically impact player/team performance? Are there any specific players or teams you think will stand out from the rest in the coming months? I am incredibly excited about the new sim. I believe it will improve the "football" feel for both players and teams alike. First, player agency is increased dramatically for build decisions. The new archetypes have been balanced very well. This means that players will have more options when deciding how to build their player with more viable archetypes. Gone are the days where one must follow the meta or pay the consequences. I hope this will encourage users to build their players the way they want. In addition to archetype variety, we also have build variety. With goofy things such as 79 speed QBs eliminated, the lack of sim testing with the new sim means players can build players in a variety of ways without feeling to need to hit arbitrary attribute cliffs. The addition of traits means that users will have to choose between traits and adding to different attributes when building their players, resulting in a variety of builds within the archetypes. I also hope this new sim will create more separation between the best teams and the average teams. Because players now have more things to spend TPE on, the highest TPE users will now be better than the average user. This means teams with lots of high TPE players should separate from the pack. Finally, more variety of viable formations, roster constructions, and strategies means more football strategy and less sim testing! Down with sim testing! RE: (S26) - PT 5 - Fortune Teller - bigbluex02 - 01-04-2021 With 2020 finally coming to a close, and 2021 now upon us, I definitely think this year will bring vast changes to the league, and potentially, shake a lot of things up. For starters, this new sim look absolutely awesome. In my opinion, I think the look, feel, and all of the new mechanics are going to add a very nice dynamic into the mix: variety! The new archetypes are fantastic and I think it definitely adds another level, and layer, to teams in order for them to plan, and build their squad. I think this variety will bring a well needed shakeup in the meta, and hopefully, eliminate there being one solid archetype for each position. The new traits adds another “endgame” feel for players as they build their player and truly look at what helps not only them, but the team in its entirety. GMs now have to game plan and build their schemes around what they have, they draft a certain way now, free agent signings may change, the entire feel to the league is revitalized in my opinion. Which leads me to believe that some of the teams that are at the bottom may just jump to the top. I know personally in Philadelphia, we have a lot of young guys that are hungry to win, and with all of our primes within reach, i definitely would consider the liberty to be potentially the next powerhouse within this calendar year. 244 WORDS RE: (S26) - PT 5 - Fortune Teller - Beebob - 01-04-2021 SHL PT RE: (S26) - PT 5 - Fortune Teller - Sermokala - 01-04-2021 Its hard to really crack at what the new sim is going to do without having the kind of experience with the new sim that we did with the old sim. One of the obvious things that will change I think is the switching of sacks from the inside so much to the outside. Yes it does appear that the sim team is teasing people being able to sack from the inside but I think that we'll rather see a wholesale switching of Tackles for Loss going to the Defensive tackles and Sacks going to the Defensive ends. I think you'll see a lot of variety at least in the first couple of seasons but the very real observations that people make will result in teams finding the "best" things for players to be and then spread that information around. But saying that I think it'll take a few seasons for that knowledge to go around in any noticeable way. What I don't think it'll do is change the basic meta of the league. As much as I want more 3 Linebacker sets I just don't think that Gm's are going to go for that and stick with the double-A Gap linebacker defense that mike zimmer uses in Minnesota. If you want to see more on that I posted a podcast where I talk a lot about linebackers and whatnot. RE: (S26) - PT 5 - Fortune Teller - Daybe - 01-04-2021 For the next year of International Sim Football I predict that my good friend and colleague KotASSa otherwise known as Rich "R-R-t" Triplet @Kotasa will break out onto the scene. After spending most of his young ISFL career being mentored by league great (at returning) Dermot "Diarmuid Lavezzi" Lavelle Jr. @White Cornerback he truly has all the tools needed to be a great cornerback in this league. Another prediction I am making is with the new sim in DDSPF21 the crying about sim testing rates in YouTube chat will drop tenfold. You see, with the new sim engine teams will be forced to be more creative when it comes to planning out strategy and we can finally see who the good GMs and the frauds are. Obviously I am blessed with some of the best GMs in the league in New York but I feel for my peers who are less fortunate. Now hopefully we'll see less complaints about how our team was 75% favorites yet we still somehow lost because somehow that 25% just disappeared and grew two legs and ran off. In conclusion I think having the new sim layout will be a tremendous positive for the health and sanity of the league. With that being said Jackson "Ace" "GOAT" "Better than Korbin Brown" Kingston is OUT. Hopefully, our newest sim, the 2021 version, will be better. After all, it has 5 extra years of research and technology and users complaining about previous quirks. There is also new archetypes being introduced into tthe league, along with the new sim. Because of this, everyone in the ISFL and in the DSFL is getting one free archetype switch in this coming offseason. It's only fair after all, not everyone can afford to buy one. Since speed was the meta in DDSPF16 and has been the league meta for the past two or three years, I assume most people will try to remain as speedy as possible in the coming seasons. There may be a new boost to the amount it costs to upgrade attributes past 95, but I don't think it will deter many from doing it. Jpach said it only affects 34% of the archetypes, but I think more like 68% of people will use those affected archetypes. As for me, I still believe being a speed back will be the best for me and my team going into the new year.
