I can’t believe that the season has already come to a close and it’s Conference Championship time. The highlight from Sarasota’s season is when we went 9-1 over a 10 game span. We had a couple of heartbreaking losses to Arizona and Colorado, otherwise it’s not outrageous to say that we would’ve won out final 12 games of the season leading into the post-season. One of the biggest wins in that run has to be our game in Austin against the Copperheads. We got off to a decent lead at halftime, up 12-3. Late in the 3rd quarter the Copperheads found the endzone, cutting our lead to 12-10. About midway through the 4th quarter, Austin took the lead 17-12, after Jackie Daytona found Friedrich Vequain for 6 yards and 6 points. We had a quick 3 and out after their score, and put the game in the hands of our defense. They forced three straight incomplete passes, saving valuable time on the clock and getting us the ball back with 3:07 remaining in the game at our own 25 yardline. We marched down the field and I found Witheblock for a 2 yard TD, following a huge 34 yard reception by J’Vathon. We failed to get the two-point conversion, but ultimately won the game by a final of 18-17 and we kept going on our huge run.

Chunt The Badger and Bayley Cowabunga, rookie Wide Receivers for the Dallas Birddogs, had an incredible number of highlights this season, but there are two that stick out for me, and they come from the most recent game, the Conference Championship against the Tijuana Luchadores. This game was extremely close, with the Birddogs trailing 21-27 with less than 3 minutes to go. Dallas forced a punt on the prior drave and were sitting at 2nd and 2 on their own 35, when Christ Jr spotted and hit Cowabunga streaking down the sideline with a step on the defender. This play for 33 yards put Dallas in striking distance for the win assuming they could score a touchdown. A few plays and a lucky penalty on 4th down gave Dallas a fresh set with 31 seconds left on the Tijuana 14, where Chunt The Badger fooled the defender and ran by him after catching a pass from Christ Jr. (who should also be called out in this PT for hitting these targets), finding the endzone and putting the Birddogs up 28-27 with 16 seconds left after the ensuing kickoff. The Birddog rookies were an integral part of the explosive offense this season, and their clutch performances in the Conference Championship helped send the Birddogs to the Ultimini.

Going to toot my own horn a little bit here, but for me personally the most memorable performance of the season came from week 11 when the Colorado Yeti beat the Baltimore Hawks 40 to 7. In that game my player, Richard Gilbert, ran for 146 yards and 2 touchdowns on 18 carries, which is good for 8.1 yards per carry. On top of that, I had 5 receptions for another 28 yards. While the statline is, in my opinion at least, impressive of its own accord, what really makes this game memorable to me is the context of the story leading up to it. As I’m sure many people know about by now, I was one of the potential replacement general managers in line to take over the Baltimore Hawks opening. The days leading up to the game is when I found out that we were not selected for the job, and that it was by an extremely close margin, with part of the deciding factor being that the trade value for my player was not favorable to the position the team was in. While I certainly don’t hold any grudges or hard feelings against those who decided against me or the GM’s selected instead of me, I have to admit that seeing my player go off in what was basically a “revenge” game for me was extremely cathartic.

Let's talk about season highlights. I will focus on Skiuuup and his Berlin teammates. I mean, I only got 200 words to talk about it, so you get the idea. I will start with week 7. Chicago travels to Berlin to play the Fire Sallies. The game was as bad and weird as the final 8-5 score shows. But there was one player that showed glimpses of what is to come in the following seasons. Skiuuup went OFF. 8 targets, 6 catches, 125 yards. ONE. HUNDRED. AND TWENTY. FIVE. YARDS. Including a 30-yard and a 42-yard catch. And add ZERO drops to that, that is a beast wide receiver in the making. Fast forward to week 10. Yellowknife is in town. Mister Eighty-Five himself, Achtfunf, is in a very good mood. 8 catches, 128 yards, one touchdown. Well, it was a 75-yard touchdown. It was a short pass from Kaep. 85 went off. Down the sideline, stiff arming THREE defenders, grabbing his crotch, falling back to the endzone. Going full beast mode on the spooky boys. But the spooky boys got the last laugh, as they rallied back in the fourth quarter to beat Berlin, 45-34, after being down 34-14, with 4:21 left in the third.

So it hasn’t been the best season for my player Tony Yeboah, after averaging over double digit sacks the previous two seasons this season he pretty much just sucked. I kind of knew this was going to happen with the new sim so I wasn’t too surprised. So although my player hasn’t had any highlights the team that I’m the GM for, the Kansas City Coyotes, are doing amazing and have exceeded expectations this season.

After starting the season 2-7, we’ve won our past six games to make it into this seasons Ultimini against Dallas. During this six game winning streak, the highlights have came thick and fast, from finally beating London for the first time since I joined the league to taking down Dallas in the last game of the season when we needed to win to keep our playoffs hopes alive and also being the first team all season to score 30 points against them. To probably the biggest highlight of the season so far, in taking down Portland who easily won our division with a 11-3 record, on the road after being so close to beating them in the regular season but ended up taking two tough losses.

The second half of the season has been great for Kansas City and I hope the biggest highlight is still to come and we win the Ultimini.

While I have only been here for a short time I believe that my best highlight so far was my 2nd game. I had multiple deflections, three tackles and my first career pick. It was part of a great defensive hold to seal a win for us late in the season. While it may not seem like a huge thing for some it definitely was a morale boost for me coming in here as a trial rookie. It helped propel my team to make the push for the playoffs and put us on a big win streak. Im super excited to see if I can help this team dive in for a deeper run and maybe even a championship. So far it has been a great time and a good experience and I am ready to go into getting drafted at this point to see where I will end up permanently. I dont know when the draft is but I know its approaching and the scouts have already started calling. Me myself I dont have a immediate direct option of where I want to go. But I am curious to hear what all these teams have to say and for me to continue my career.

I had a couple of stand out moments of the 27th DSFL season, one of which was a interception in the last minute of the fourth quarter in the week 10 game against Portland, with 22 seconds left John “captain” price got a interception that killed of portland's drive at our 26 yard line, winning us the game against our division leader in a really close game that which was nerve racking as anything, this interception made us feel like everything and anything was possible and we could beat any team.

Another stand out moment I can think of is in week 12 in our game against Tijuana, in the last 11 seconds our own Tim Soulja tackle the wide receiver, forces the fumble and recovers it which was not only the last play of the game, it also made sure we completed the shut out as we held Tijuana to 0 points, that whole game was a highlight of the season but that play really stood out as the brightest spot in our season. A personal highlight in the same game was Daniel O’Leary (me) getting a forced fumble and fumble recovery, my stats on the season aren't outstanding but this game I played really well and this play stands out in my memory.
