RE: (S32) PT 2 - Overreactions - SwankyPants31 - 11-21-2021 The season has been a mixed bag to start so far for the Tijuana Luchadores. On the bright side, they’re sitting at a 2-2 record, which puts them in second place for the southern conference. While the two teams below them are both only one win behind, there appears to be a pretty significant gap in performance between Tijuana and the other two teams (Dallas and Bondi Beach). For reference, despite being only one game ahead Tijuana has just a -11 point differential as opposed to -69 (nice) and -47 for Dallas and Bondi Beach respectively. On the other hand though, the ever present threat of Norfolk exists undefeated with a +102 point differential. I think at this point in the season it would be fair to say that Norfolk and Tijuana have a good chance to lock the conference up, but it will be an uphill battle for Tijuana to find postseason success. That can’t be right. The seasons are flying by. Anyways, we’re through seven games and the Sarasota Sailfish are off to a bit of a slow start as they have struggled with some playoff contenders early on in the season. We can probably go ahead and write off this team and start focusing on Season 33, right? Wrong! The Sarasota Sailfish have somewhat of a reputation of starting the season out slower than expected before building up to yet another playoff appearance by the end of week 16. I personally expect this season to be no different than many of the past. The opening schedule was a bit rough, but Sarasota faces a fair amount of favorable matchups down the stretch this season. If they take care of business, there is no reason they shouldn’t return to the playoffs and extend the longest active playoff streak in the ISFL. This is the belief of everyone in the organization and it may be a slight overreaction with the team starting 4-3. But being 4-3 is a great spot considering the opponents they played. Now that may not be a great record but the few games they won show a ton of promise. Their best win was against the Arizona Outlaws, who were one of the favorites going into the season to win it all. And this was a commanding win, where their offense went off. Next, they lost against the defending champions and number one seed the Honolulu Hahalua. It was a strong showing with all three phases of the team. In addition, it was an away game. With the sim the way it is, away games are basically Ls unless the team is good. Therefore, I think the Sabercats are going to shock everyone. For my last overreaction, Panda McKyle is going to win the Most Valuable Player award. Why? Because as a sophomore, he is one of the leading quarterbacks in total yards and qbr. This with how the rest of season will go, it will make his case a much stronger one. Mark today as the day that McKyle will be MVP. Coming off an appearance in the Ulitmus, I knew that there would be a little regression. Standing with a respectable 4-3 record through 7 weeks, the Yeti are right near the top of their division with only the Fire Salamanders and Liberty ahead of them. If the Yeti can keep up the offensive firepower with Caliban, then they will be in great shape down the stretch. Regarding my own personal performance, I am having a bit of a down year. Though the Yeti are playing respectable defense as a whole, my pass defenses are definitely down from the average. Granted, defensive stats are certainly more random than offensive ones so I have no real concerns about it. As long as my team is winning, my stats are secondary. I look forward to see what the rest of the season holds in store for both the Yeti and Albert Ruschmann! RE: (S32) PT 2 - Overreactions - dogwoodmaple - 11-21-2021 SHL affiliate PT |
