In order to assess the future, you must understand the past.

Last season saw QB Jay Cue lead the league with more than 3400 passing yards. He threw for 15 TDs and only 8 interceptions. His rating was better than average at 79.7. Expected to be a top 2 receiver in S23, Saba Donut has more than 1100 TPE and is looking to improve on his 70/1191/5 campaign from last season; he will be in the mix for Wide Receiver of the Year. Add a stud RB in Baby Yoda, and the Arizona offense is set to explode on a weekly basis.

Moving to the defensive side of the ball, then-rookie Stan Koniecpolski was top-5 in tackles with 120 and forced multiple turnovers in S22. The team was great at pressuring the QB too; led by Pete “Plop” Miller with 12 (2nd in the league) and Galf Wilf with 9 last season, the Outlaws front six hopes to lead the league in sacks. Of course, you can’t talk about the Arizona defense without highlighting the leagues universally loved Zamir Kehla. Despite logging 4 interceptions, 12 passes defended, and a league leading 2 TDs, he was snubbed from the Defensive Rookie of the Year award. With that extra motivation, expect Kehla to continue to dominate in the secondary.

So, there you have it. With studs at every position, the Outlaws will make some noise in S23.

The future is bright in AZ! #SunsOutGunsOut

Honolulu is absolutely set for the long run with the assets they have on the team currently. At quarterback, Corvo Havran holds the reins for one more season until Norfolk star, Luke Skywalker, takes over at the position. At running back, Honolulu has begun to phase out Ruff Ruff in favor of second year back, Ke’oke’o Kane-Maika’i (the current NSFL leader in total yards from scrimmage). As he begins to enter his prime, Jed Podolak provides veteran leadership for a young receiver corps that includes William Alexander, Jacoby Clay, and Daymond Brooks.

On defense, the team has a young defensive line led by Kearse who the team picked up from Yellowknife. However, the player formerly known as Phat Boi, is beginning to look like a first round bust for the team as he hasn’t improved as much as the others from his draft class since entering the league. The young linebacker corps looks outstanding. Led by veteran Mark Arianlacker, Jack Banks and Heinrich Kackpoo make up a force that should be dominant at the position group for years to come. Possibly the strongest position group looking into the future is the secondary. Jim Waters and Kane Bananana look like they’ll be the team’s future at CB, with Shawn Dawkins and Buck Thornton beginning to establish themselves as stars at safety. The rest of the league expects big things from this star studded secondary.

How good to have football back? I was really looking forward to S23 of the DSFL getting to come back and play for the Coyotes again. There is a lot to love about Kansas for this season, especially on the fun side of the ball. Our QB Covington is making a return - always a nice result. While the O-line is completely new we have a 3 WRs (Afton, Cooper, Washington), 1 RB (Fakon) and everyone's favourite TE (Raccoon) all returning. As mentioned, the best kicker in the DSFL is also back for another season also and is much better at putting the ball between the uprights.

Despite all the good signs of what could be a much improved team on offence, in the end it's just gonna be 7-9 again. Maybe we get lucky and sneak into the playoffs but this team has one move - 1 and 1 on gamedays. It's out move, we are gonna use it. Both division leaders away? We'll find a way to win one of them. Both wooden spooners and we'll find a way to choke in the 4th of one game. It's one of the oddest things since I've been in Kansas but it always leaves you with hope only to be disappointed.

Hope is something that every team starts out with at the beginning of a season. For us over here at the Kansas City Coyotes it rings more true than ever. After barely missing the playoffs last season, the hope for more success is greater than ever before, however this year the team looks more poised than ever! After failing to make the playoffs the Coyotes found some solace in getting to snatch up Asher Montain with the first overall pick in this years draft. They continued there defensive overhaul by snatching up players like Delta Airlines and Brach Thomaslacher in order to turn their defensive into a pass swating, run stuffing, sack getting force to be reckoned with! With the team that the Coyotes have put together the sky really seems to be the limit. Coming off a defensive domination of the London Royals in week 1, we got to see how just how dominant this new team can be holding a strong royals team to only 15 minutes of possession. I also want to point out the potential of Asher Montain for this upcoming season. A player that has a lot to prove when it comes to measuring up to his brother. I believe he will be amongst many discussions for awards this season and for seasons to come! So watch out DSFL, the Coyotes are here and success starts now!

It is difficult to find consistent success in a league like the DSFL where there are so many question marks that GM’s have to account for from one season to the next, but Tijuana seems to have no problem finding ways to always be competitive (which is proven by their seven Ultiminis). This season might be a bit more difficult for the Luchadore’s though as they lost some key position players to the S23 NSFL Draft. When a team in the DSFL has enough quality to win the Ultimini the NSFL Draft often wreaks havoc on their depth chart as their talent gets called up to the next level. Despite this though, the Luchadore’s still have their eyes set on a repeat of last season’s success, and it is not too far-fetched to believe that they can pull it off.

Looking at the Luchador’s roster I remain excited about our chance of winning the Ultimini this season. We have an extremely strong offense that is led by Ben Slothlisberger QB, Friedrich Vequain WR, and Doug Howlett WR; all of which are capped players. This alone is a combination that primes Slothisberger and the Tijuana passing attack to have an MVP caliber season, and if you throw in rookie RB Crowbar Theeks, Tijuana’s offense should have no trouble putting up points this season.

As with any team there are still question marks on the roster, and for us inTijuana those question marks are found on the defensive side of the ball, mostly on the DL and in the Secondary where we are just a little short of active players. Despite this though, Tijuana has some players that can really make an impact on defense with Maverick Bowie S attempting to do his best job to fill the gap that was left by literally just a Hexagon, and if he can step up there that can make a huge impact on the effectiveness of the Luchadore defense. There is also quite a bit of promise surrounding rookie LB Adam Schell who is a member of a pretty strong LB core in Tijuana. All of these LBs will have to step up though, to make up for the weakness found in the defensive line. But if players step up and are able to fill the holes left by the draft and call ups to the NSFL, Tijuana could definitely find themselves making another deep playoff run and lifting their 8th Ultimini.
