There’s a name that always echoes in the award committee whenever the topic of who to nominate comes up. That man’s name: Sean O’Leary. Sean is an image of stability, he’s always going to be one of the league leaders in yards and dominates the field. It’s no secret without him the Chicago offense would be in trouble. And it’s no secret that he should be in serious consideration for Wide Receiver of the Year. Sean is currently 5th in the league in total yards with 805, and while he is middle of the pack in terms of touchdowns, it’s a sign of what he enables. It’s a double edged sword with Chicago, Sean is the main guy on offense in a system with a lot of hungry mouths to feed, so he won’t always have the best stats. But by teams focusing on Sean, it lets his teammates thrive more. The fact that teams will game plan to try and stop him shows how much impact he has on the position despite the middle of the road touchdown and average yards per catch numbers. O’Leary is a leader on and off the field, and for these reasons he’s my pick for Wide Receiver of the Year.

A big standout on the Coyotes that is absolutely not only in the talks for an award, but the front-runner of it is Cody Stallworth for OLoTY. Through seven games, Stallworth has managed to put up 43 pancakes in total, while also maintaining an average of 6 pancakes a game. Stallworth has already shattered the single game record for pancakes with a whopping 13 against London, and there's no doubt he's going to destroy the long standing single season record if he can continue at this pace. The craziest part of it all, is that he's a rookie. Usually, these are the kind of numbers we'd expect from someone who's played a few seasons and is sitting on a capped DSFL player, but Stallworth is completely fresh. And as the cherry on top, Stallworth has yet to allow a single sack throughout all seven games he's played so far. You'd be hard pressed to not consider him the top offensive linemen in the DSFL currently. The gap between Stallworth and second place is eleven pancakes, meaning that it would take a colossal change or effort for him to even be caught up to. As long as Stallworth can maintain a pace of 4-5 pancakes on average, he will smash the pancake record with no doubts about his insane efficiency. He is absolutely my pick, and hopefully everyone else's pick for OLoTY.

I do believe that Leeroy Jenkins is on track to get the Offensive Rookie of the Year award, maybe the Offensive Player of the Year, possibly the Wide Receiver of the Year, and it's not out of the question to include him in talks for the Most Valuable Player contention in this season 24 due solely to his pre-game ritual.  It is absolutely the only reason the Yeti have won so many games this season.  Some people might say that it is all a bunch of hog wash and tom foolery.  A superstitious habit that makes no difference in the slightest concerning the outcome of an American football match, but I beg to differ.  I think, if Leeroy Jenkins did not do what he does, the players who take the field for the Colorado Yeti would feel much more confused and I might add, less loved.  What is this ritual Leeroy does that insures not only the victory at the end of the game, but a more holistic and encouraging locker room?  Of course it's hugs and positive affirmations whispered into their ear.  He is always the first one in the doors and as each player, coach, trainer, or support personnel enter the teams facilities on game day, he tells them that they are each wonderful people who have value in this world beyond what they do on the field, and gives them a giant hug.  And that's why Leeroy should win all the awards.

Quote:Written Option: S24 is nearly halfway over, and that means that the races for award season have begun in earnest. In 200 words or more, describe one or more players on your team (which can include yourself) and why you think that they are currently in contention for a particular award. Are their stats on pace to break records, or are they simply leading the pack? Is their efficiency or volume noteworthy? Would they possibly contend for one of the major awards as well?

Look at the portland pythons I think we have a few players who stand out and could be spoken about in reference to the award race.

The first one has to be the quarterback Sam Howitzer. Howitzer is tied for first in the league on touchdowns, but only has 2 interceptions against Covington III's 5 on 12 touchdowns. 4th in yards, 3rd in completion rate and 2nd in quarterback rating is nothing to snuff at. Just showing how effective he is on only 4th in yards.

Korbin Brown sits 5th in yards for receivers and tied in 1st tie in touchdowns with 6 on the season so far. A little concern is his avg yard, but with a bit of work he can turn that around and solidify his bid for receiver of the year.

Puesdo QB currently is the only kicker to still have a perfect field goal year with 15 attempts and 15 made. This also puts him on top of the field goal list while rocking the 100%. QB sits 4th in extra points with 18 attempts and 17 made, which could hurt a bid, but if he keeps up the field goals I think they could carry him to a kicker of the year award.

Donald McBobby is having himself quite the season so far. 46 tackles with a tackle for loss and 5 sacks, 1 int and 3 deflected passes. As a rookie coming into the DSFL McBobby is producing some solid numbers which could put him in contention for defensive rookie fo the year. With 5 sacks in 7 games if he keeps his QB pressure up no doubt you will see him receiving an award.

The season is off to a hot start for the Sarasota Sailfish, they are a surprising 8-2 and have a couple players that emerged as eligible for awards. For starters, Big Edd, the huge defensive tackle, should get the Defensive Tackle of the Year, he is on top of the class when it comes to defensive tackles and the current reigning award holder. He recorded 43 tackles, 2 tackles for losses, 1 forced fumble and 5 sacks. With the success of the defense Big Edd deserves to repeat for that award. Another player for the Sailfish who should get Offensive Player of the Year, is their quarterback Dexter Banks. Dexter is the key to Sarasota’s success, he recorded 2875 yards and 18 touchdowns. This is the league's best as well. If Banks keeps up the rate he’s going the Sailfish have a good shot to win the Ultimus and Banks could win MVP, but he has competition from his own teammate, Haha Mango-Panda. Haha is the superstar linebacker of that amazing defensive. He leads all linebackers and defensive players in a lot of stats. Haha recorded 75 tackles, 8 sacks, 2 interceptions and 12 pass deflections. At the rate that Haha is securing these stats he’s the front runner for Defensive Player of the Year and MVP. Let the HahVP talk begin!

I have been lurking around this thread and I have seen some great cases in regards to the big awards in the award ceremony. While I believe that some of them have some sort of a case against other players in this league, I am absolutely certain that I have locked up Offensive Rookie of the Year. Overall, I am top 10 amoungst all running backs in the league in Rushing Yards, well on pace to get 1000 yards this season. Staying on the run, I have accumulated 5 touchdowns, which is close to the top of the leaderboards for running backs, which is 6. In the air is a whole different set of accolades, when I say that I am top 3 amoung runningbacks in the air and top 5 when you lump in full backs. I have also locked up 4 touchdowns in the air as well. It is clear that I have became a factory of production on the football field, which is suprising to me frankly. To conclude, while other rookies on the offensive side of the ball are producing quite well and are clearly the future of this league, my production on the ground and in the air is second to none, and has locked me up Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Sean O'Leary has been on the Butchers ever since he was drafted in S19. Since then, the Butchers have had nothing but bad luck and bad performances. Even throughout the bad performing teams, the negative press and attitude towards the Butchers , and being paired with lackluster teams, O'Leary has been performing as one of the best receivers in the league. Even in S22 when the whole team was rookies or old vets past their primes, even when Franky LaFluer became the starting quarterback, O'Leary performed and still had his positive team attitude. Never has he come out and gotten upset at his teammates or management for how the other teammates play, he would just work harder to try and win. This year is no different, even though the Butchers are finally making progress, and he is no longer getting most of the targets, he is still performing as a top 5 receiver. I believe that he deserves a WR of the year award, nobody has had to deal with such turmoil and still perform at the top of the league, he might not have the most touchdowns or receptions, but he goes out and gives it his all every week, and that is what makes him the best in my book.

I’m going to talk about the frontrunners for the most prestigious (albeit unrecognized by the shameful FO) DSFL award each season. I am, of course, referencing The ROOKIE Tight End of the Year Award.  This award is for the best TE of the DSFL for that year for the new prospects. Let’s take a look at the 3 front runners so far.

Dave Batista – Batista is the easy front runner here, where he is top or near the top in almost every category. He has the 2nd highest yardage at 162 with 23 receptions (7.0 AVG, long of 18), showing he has good hands and is a key part of his offense. He's no slouch in the blocking game either, and has put up a strong 13 pancakes while allowing zero sacks.

Djibutee McJimmerson – Self-Bias incoming. McJimmerson has had a good enough start to make him noteworthy for this award’s shortlist, with particular emphasis on his strong blocking game. He’s the leader for rookie TE’s in pancakes with 16, and has allowed zero sacks as well. While he is not the most targeted TE with only 11 receptions, he has shown good hands en route to a 7.3 yd per reception (2nd for rookie TEs) and 2 touchdowns in the redzone.

Cmon Skiuuup – Skiuuup has been a monster in the passing game, and is easily the leader for rookie TEs there. He’s showcased his abilities with 23 receptions for 169 yards (7.3 AVG, best for the seasons so far) and a long of 19, though somehow not having a TD yet (I think we can expect to see that go up before seasons end). He’s not as active in the blocking game with only 6 pancakes, but that may be down to offensive scheme more than anything, and hasn’t allowed a sack which is good.
