RE: (S24) - PT 4 - Trial by Fire - Jo3fish5 - 09-05-2020 Joseph Petrongolo played as a tight end for Vanderbilt, where he had amazing seasons, breaking multiple school season and career records that had been held for years. After being drafted to the Portland Pythons as a tight end in the season 22 DSFL draft, he chose to switch positions to running back, in order to start and be a contributing member of the team. With the team he ran for more than a thousand yards in his rookie campaign, averaging 4.7 yards per carry on 251 carries. Petrongolo also scored five touchdowns and was nominated for the running back of the year award that season. In his second season he had about the same stats, rushing for about 100 less yards but scoring one more touchdown than he had previously. Pretty good stat lines. But now, Joseph Petrongolo has moved up into the ISFL, has to deal with bigger, better, and stronger defenses, not to mention having to deal with a very pass heavy offense led by star quarterback Jay Cue. Currently, Joseph Petrongolo has 567 rush yards and three touchdowns. If the season were to end after week 14, the number of games the DSFL plays in a season, Petrongolo would end the season with just about 600 yards and three touchdowns, barely half of what he was getting in the DSFL. RE: (S24) - PT 4 - Trial by Fire - Jay_Doctor - 09-05-2020 I'm not sure that I really had a "welcome to the league" moment when I first hit the NSFL. I recall having a very underwhelming rookie season though. I had spent my first two seasons in the DSFL where Mason enjoyed his share of successes. He broke some records and was generally one of the top players in the DSFL at the time. Applying a season and a half of saved up TPE was a feeling of pure joy and I felt like I was going to come in and immediately make an impact on defense. NOLA as a team was looking to be one of the best in the league. They had made the conference championship the season before, losing to the eventual 3rd straight championship for Orange County. The stupid sexy Otters, along with the Copperheads were the perennial contenders in the ASFC. I was very much a back end contributor one what would eventually become a top defense in the league. I never got burnt deep, but I also didn't stand out at all. On a team with names like Slothface, Bode, Ironside, Faux, Rector, Andrews, Taylor and Arianlacher, there was not much room to stand out. We played great team defense, but I felt a bit of a shock compared to how my 2 DSFL seasons went. It was great motivation though (along with losing a conference championship) to keep pushing and get better. I look at where Blaylock is now and I don't know if he would be as good as he is if that first season just came super easy. RE: (S24) - PT 4 - Trial by Fire - frazzle14 - 09-05-2020 When your playing in college you think you’ve got it all sorted out. Playing in front of packed stadiums, on tv all the time, playing in bowl games. You think you’ve made it. But then you get drafted to a whole new city and a whole new team. For Yeboah he thought it would be a piece of cake. That was far from the truth. In college when Yeboah met a runner in the open field it was already game over, the play was done, and no one would want to run into him for the rest of the game. In the Coyotes first game of the season against Myrtle Beach, Yeboah thought it would be more of the same. Until they ran the ball forty six times for two hundred and twenty seven yards. By the end of the game Yeboah had a all new perspective on what it was going to take to succeed in this league. He couldn’t rely on believing no one wanted to run against him. They were going to run at him and he had to be ready. So he got his head together and worked harder than he ever had. To make sure he would be ready every single play. And now, he always will be. Considered by many pundits to be a potential Heisman candidate, Greedy put on a show during his time with the Buckeyes. Slated to be one of the top picks in the DSFL draft, it surprised no one when Greedy was selected by London with the first overall pick. However, unfortunately for London, Greedys stats didn’t quite translate from college to the DSFL. Some have cited a faster game from college to the DSFL, others have suggested that perhaps Greedy wasn’t ready for the mental level of the game. Certainly he was a physical specimen, but his mental acumen fell short of DSFL standards. This became wildly apparent during his NSFL combine where he scored top marks across all the physical tests, but dead last in the wonderlic. His first season with the Royals saw him fall short of any awards or accolades, and his second season was much the same…. Some might say even more disappointing. Luckily for Greedy things are looking up now in the ISFL, as he’s in DRotY talks for his performances with Colorado. Now through the midway point in the season he’s got it all to play for, but he’s certain to be in the conversation. RE: (S24) - PT 4 - Trial by Fire - ForSucksFake - 09-05-2020 Man, what a wild ride it has been for me in the ISFL. I’m kind of a late bloomer, spending 3 seasons in the DSFL with Minnesota. In that span, I was able to lock up most of the team career stats for receiving. Then when I made it to the ISFL, I made a “career” change when I switched positions. I did it so I could help out the team and it’s been fun so far. I know people say DT is a pretty worthless position if you’re trying to rack up stats and I see where they’re coming from. But just being able to play with my friends has been a dream come true. CC, Jango, and I were tight during our time together in Minnesota and it’s been a blast to hang out on the reunion tour. Our first season together hasn’t been as fruitful as I’d hoped it would be but I think Bayley and Muford have it right. Build the culture and the talent will come. We’re in a good spot when we look to the future. I think when our first round pick from the last draft gets called up (Juan Domine), heads are going to roll. There really isn’t a weakness on paper for our team and with several legends retiring across the league this offseason, our time is coming. 227 RE: (S24) - PT 4 - Trial by Fire - Emi - 09-05-2020 I have just declared for the forth coming S26 DSFL entry draft as a result i have not played a single game in this league yet. As a result i cannot really discuss about how my first game here affected my time here. So i will go onto the next best thing and speak about my time in college with at Saga University. I was not the starting Quarterback when i joined the Saga team and i fell into being a 3rd string. So i was back up to the back up, this meant that i did not really get much playing time in my first season. It was game 8 when all that changed in one game we had a turn of bad luck and the starting Quarterback and 2nd String Quarterback had become injured in the same game and they said they where going to me. I did not expect to be playing that day so i was not ready at all. I had not taken training that morning and i really was not feeling it. We where on 2nd down and near the Touchdown area. We had roughly 1 minute left in the 4th quarter of a tied game against our rival team. I called for the ball to be thrown back to me and i was looking for a avenue to pass but before i knew it i was pushed to the ground and i had given up my first sack of my career in my first game on my first play. This really shook me up as i didn't really know what i was supposed to do as now we had been sent further back and we where on 3rd down now. I started to assess of possible plays in my head before going to call for the ball. I called for the ball and passed it to the Running back who ran in the touchdown. This was the first of my career and i think the fact my first play was a Sack sums up how i really was not ready to play. Due to the players being injured i was the starting Quarterback for the remaining games in the season and i really had to try harder and i took this into account when going forward as i really did not taking being 3rd string seriously. Next season i had moved upto 2nd string and by the end of the season i had taken over as the starting Quarterback until my departure from college to declair for the S26 DFSL draft! Fawn was a part of the Coyotes at that time, and though they had had a terrific regular season, there had been one opponent who stuck out to them as particularly challenging: the Myrtle Beach Buccaneers. The Buccaneers had won both of their meetings prior to the Ultimini, so while there was some optimism in the KC locker room, no one could forget how tough the Bucs had been in their previous matchups. Then, during the game, it was a lot more of the same. The Bucs had a huge number of send downs on their squad that season, so it wasn't difficult to understand why the Coyotes and the rest of the league were having difficulty. Fawn performed actually very well in that game, as he managed to make 11 tackles and forced a fumble. The team however ultimately lost 30-10 in what was a blowout loss. At that moment, Fawn realized that he wasn't the star recruit on his high school team anymore or even the face of the defense like he was in college. Instead, he was just another professional athlete, and nothing he was going to get would come easily to him. RE: (S24) - PT 4 - Trial by Fire - LatinViking - 09-06-2020 Well since I just got into the league and barely signed my first waiver contract... I have to admit with pain in my heart that Richard "Dick" Littlewood haven't been able to get to the field or play his first few minutes as he had to pack his things and move from his university dorm in Iowa to the wild streets of London. Hopefully this place across the sea will be home of the promising lineman and helps him push to new heights. We have no information about his specific role on this line, but knowing how this... Unorthodox and smart player tends to adapt to quickly changing situations and this team... Needed of a leader for the line could surely use the help. But oh well here we are now, landed in England.... Trying to make a name for himself, ready to get on the field and start working day in and day out, just to give his new team, his new family the absolute best he could, only to feel useful and make everybody that one day had some kind of faith on him that he could do it, and so, he put his helmet on and ran to the field. 203 words RE: (S24) - PT 4 - Trial by Fire - bjbren17 - 09-06-2020 PBE PT |
