Tier 2 - Task 8 Examine your team.
436 words
Kansas City Coyotes won 6 games and lost 8, ranked as the 3rd in this NFC North division, and around 5-7th in DSFL. KCC scored 301 points and lost 305 points, and both were ranked as the third in DSFL. This provides a high-level picture: we have strong offense but weak defense. Tijuana Luchadores, ranking the first in DSFL, scored 303 points and lost 267. Our weakness is on the defense side.
KCC QB Covington III is the top 2nd-3rd QB of the league based on his completion, percentage of successful passing, and overall rating. The only caveat is the interceptions allowed by the other team, being the second worst out of the 14 teams. Our offensive line is quite aggressive with the highest number of pancakes. Our passing play is fantastic. The WR Campbell is just impressive, singlehandedly providing 7 TDs and have 15 yards/run. The other two WRs are also good. However, our rushing play seems problematic, with the average rushing distance ranked as 7th out of 8 teams. The stats suggest that KCC overly relies on the passing play. It is fine since our WRs are fantastic, but it costs us too many interceptions when every play is a passing. The best way to improve is to work on our rushing plays. KCC may need to consider signing stronger FB/RB, or design better strategies for the rushing plays. A more diversified strategy can help to become less predictive in our scoring approaches and reduce the number of interceptions. Otherwise, the only Covington-Campbell connection seems to reduce the 11 offense players to only two.
KCC defensive line needs more improvement. Had we been able to reduce our lost points by 50, our record would look the same as the top team Luchadores. In terms of stats, the KCC has 13 interceptions, which are the best among all the team. Our main problem is a very small number of sacks. Only 14 sacks happened on the whole season, and it is only 1/3 of the highest number (48) by London Royals. Shit, this is why we lost to the Royals in the last game. We scored zero defensive TD. Well, I understand that the defensive TDs can never be planned, but it can always be facilitated when the defensive line can provide more forced fumbles. In the next season, KCC needs to sign better defensive players, like some agile and strong muscles, on LB and CB positions, particularly since our star CB Peter Patterson will be drafted to ISFL. Force more fumbles and sacks. KCC will be in a great position in the next season.

Tier 2 - Task 13 Rookie Experience
526 words
I joined the league about two weeks ago, so I am an S26 rookie. My experience is great so far, partially because I was invited by a close friend slate. Slate is very active in the league, personable, telegenic, and responsive to my questions. Had I been left exploring things by myself, I might be drowned in the forum and feel helpless. Suppose a rookie just joining the league without any more experienced friend, the simplest things, like creating a player and updating the progress of the player’s development, can be confusing. But maybe most of the rookies are invited by some friends to join the league, so we all have some point person to reach out to. Overall it is great, but let me vent a bit to get things out of my system.
Does the forum provide any systematic overview of accumulating TPEs? I just like a structured way to approach everything, so I feel bad when I feel that some TPEs are sneaking away without being noticed. I really appreciate the TPE channel in Kansas City Coyotes, which provides real-time information about the TPEs. Maybe this TPE channel exists in all the teams’ locker rooms, so it might not be an issue.
The second thing is about football. Well, I am pretty sure it is just me. I guess most of the people here are American, so people are familiar with the terms in football games. But I am not. I did not play football before. Maybe everyone knows the meaning of QB, FB, RB, WR, TE, SS, FS, CB, LB, DT, DE, TD, etc. But if you step back and just stare at these words, don’t they look very similar??? I love to decipher the meaning of the team/player stats, but the acronyms (Comp, Att, Pct, Lg, etc.) can look confusing to me. After two weeks’ google, it is not an issue now, since I am a genius in learning to play sports (with Slate’s helps). I also understand that the forum is not supposed to provide basic guidance about American football itself. I am just whiny and vent for fun. ; )
Some writing pieces can be challenging to the rookies. For example, a lot of topics in this week are about the best player, the best team, etc., which require a lot of knowledge about the league. I hope more writing topics can be designed for rookies, so that we can contribute within the limit of our capacity.
Otherwise, things are going well. Discord is a great tool to meet people. Sometimes it is hard to follow the chats there, but the information there is valuable. I am glad that the league is designed to encourage to use active players rather than just strong (but inactive) players. The approaches of earning TPEs and money are reasonable and equitable. The simulation results are cool, and I am just curious whether the league plan to upgrade the simulation animation from 2D to 3D. I understand that it might take a lot of effort and money, but a 3D body just looks more similar to a real football player than the moving circles.

13) This task is exclusive to non-recreate rookies of the S24 class and later. In 400 words or more, how has your experience been in the league? Who have you met that has made your time here more fun, friendly, and exciting? Have you been satisfied with your player’s early start? What was it like being drafted for the first time? Do you have any comments or suggestions for the entire league that you think should be implemented?

Ok, so im a Rookie who has never before done any kind of Simulation League, so this has been a completely new experience for me; Honestly, when i first joined the league i have only joined the London Royals Locker room, and it seemed pretty fun in there, so when i didnt get picked by them i was somewhat disappointed at first. However, i greatly enjoyed hanging with the people in the myrtle beach locker room, thor, goat dank, uber, spec, mori, the other australian and all the others aswell, its been a pleasant experience so far, which is why im glad that im most likely gonna spend another season in the DSFL
Ive been pretty satisfied with my players start, im not the best TPE earner, but despite that my player had an insane first couple weeks, basically leading defensive players in every stat possible, however after that everything kinda slowed down and i ended up on the upper middle spectrum for DBs which is still totally fine and im happy with that
Being drafted for the first time was tbh really disappointing, not only was I picked by THOR but it was also the 99th overall pick which was pretty damn disappointing, and i think ive proven to definitely have been a steal of this draft. I do hope my player will finally get the respect he earned for the upcoming ISFL draft;
However, the whole experience of being drafted was quite fun, its really fun to sweat and see when ur getting picked, despite waiting forever last time, oof i felt like aaron rodgers, even my aquaintance newty got picked before me (by the grey ducks tho so lmaO) and im fairly sure hes not gonna go before me the upcoming isfl draft.
For suggestions, im not certain how its gonna work out but from what ive heard im somewhat worried about my future in the ISFL since for me it feels like im probabaly not gonna get alot of playtime in my first seasons in the isfl and i do not like that notion.
Im glad about the expansion because it gives atleast some sort of hope to play and eventually start for someone whos an average earner such as me.
I wish (even tho its probably just not that doable) that there would be more room for special types of player builds that are equally effective, also the dumb ass sim seems dumbass tbqh

22) Make a comparison between your own team and a playoff team, if your team failed to make the postseason, showing why your squad was better.

Ok so being in Myrtle Beach this ones a quite obvious one. Ok so lets just compare the MBB to the Portland Pythons who made the playoffs, while we, the Buccs, did not.
First thing to look at is obvious the Record. MBB with a solid 7-7 compared to the Pythons with 6-8, already bringing into question the leagues choice to place teams into 2 divisions.
Second thing would probably be head to head since ive heard thats a good way to determine which is the better team. MBB starts out with a solid victory at home against Portland, and ends it with a solid victory @Pythons.
So huh, looks almost like the Buccs deserved to be in the playoffs over the pythons?
At this point it should be pretty obvious which team is the better team, but to add onto that you just look at the way the Pythons performed in the Conference Finals, putting up an incredibly sad performance of only 3 Points while getting scored on multiple times by London.

16) Choose your favorite non-playoffs game of this season, whether your own team or another. Explain what was so special and why the winner ultimately came out victorious, including key players and moments.

Fun Game, huh?
Uh, Well my favourite game was the Week14 game of my own team, the Myrtle Beach buc-
Caneers. It was by far the biggest ass whooping of any Game in the DSFL that season, and what a way to finish a season strongly.
Kicked out of Playoff contention leading into Week14, the Buccs still had alot to prove and really tried to give it their all and prove
To their fans that they deserve their support, and boy did they ever.
Hometown favourite QB Jackie Daytona lead the team to an incredible 54 points, throwing for 4 TDs and a passer rating of 136.8 which is incredible for the DSFL.
Oat Tank topped his incredible season performance off with another insane Statline including 6 tackles, 1 sack, 1 FF, 1 Safety.
Really the whole defense came together, and only let up 10 points (which is incredibly tough if ur offense keeps scoring so easily and quickly every drive so u barely have time to recover), totalling 2 Turnovers + a safety.

Bloomey had a really good day kicking the football aswell, and he had his feet full that day, scoring 7/7 extra points and 1 field goal.
All in all Id say this was my favourite game this season because the whole team came together and put up an incredible performance despite being eliminated from Playoff contention.

RE: (S24) - Ultimus Week - PMoney - 09-23-2020

7)
Classically in the ISFL, the Running Back of the Year award goes to the running back with the most rushing yards in the regular season. Sometimes it will go to the RB who has the most rushing TD’s in the season. This season both of these titles were held by the same player, Tatsu Nakamura. Orange County finally found a true RB1 for their team who looks to shoulder the load for the Otters and Franklin Armstrong ends his time in the league. His 12 TDs and over 1200 yards put him ahead of all other players on the ground.
However, the RBotY award should not go to Nakamura. This season the best running back in the league was Mako Mendonca.
With 4 less TD’s, almost 200 yards less and a slightly lower Avg at 4 vs 4.1 ypc, you may be wondering why he should win the award? The answer to this comes from the modern games changes to require RB’s to be all around offensive contributors. Catching passes out of the backfield is a vital role to help out a QB and Mendonca did it as well as anyone. His 762 receiving yards blew all other RBs out of the water, and many wide receivers. He is 23rd of all players in receiving yards in S24, better than most WR2’s in the league.
This wasn’t due to him being the only offensive weapon Austin had, 2 of the 22 players in front of him here were also from Austin and the other running back Kichwa Jones also had almost 1000 rushing yards. While rotation is important in the modern league, Mendonca had to share touches much more than Nakamura whose backup only had 98 touches in comparison to Jones’ 234. His production still being very comparable on the ground while also being far superior in the air is an impressive accomplishment. Stats in this league are often inflated by being the sole recipient of touches and in both aspects of his game, Mendonca had to share touches around for the team.
Adding 3 TD’s as well gets him to within 1 all-purpose TD’s of Nakamura. 11 TDs and 1810 yards in the season is an incredible achievement but due to his stats being split on the index, some people may be overlooking him. Mendonca’s numbers weren’t due to him being a workhorse run into the ground, they were through his impressive play and that’s why he is my Running Back of the Year.
10)
The S18 Yellowknife Wraiths were one of the most dominant teams the ISFL has seen in recent years. Their 11-2 record topped the league and they held both the #1 offence and #2 defence in the league. This team was completely dominant through the regular season. After the traditional week 1 loss, they would win 11 games in a row to secure the first seed before seemingly resting players before the playoffs for their second loss.
The offence was centred around futureTM Hall of Famer, Cooter Bigsby. Bigbsy threw for the most yards in the league and was also joint 1st in TDs at 31, leading him to his first MVP award of his career. Cooter had been very good in his first 3 seasons in the league, leading the league in passing yards in S16 and in TDs in S17 but he put both together in what would become the first MVP in his hall fo fame career. The rest of the offence was no slouch either. Backing him up with an incredible 14 TDs was Morgan Marshall. While Marshalls yardage meant he missed out on RBotY, his 14 rushing touchdowns has not been matched by any running back since. The San Jose Legend Nate Swift would share receiving duty with Tommy Helanen and between the 2 of them they would haul in 20 TDs and over 2500 yards.
The defence, while not ranked #1 in points allowed, blew the competition out of the water when it came to sacks, their 53 was 14 more than the 2nd placed team. Another future Hall of Famer Danny Grithead led the league in sacks with other massive names like Ryan Leaf and Giannis Kroustis putting in their fair share. 239 points allowed was still over 100 better than both other NSFC teams who made the playoffs as the dominant Yellowknife team would make no doubt who the greatest team in the NSFC was.
Ultimately, they would fall short in the Ultimus against perennial Ultimus contenders, the Orange County Otters. Franklin Armstrong was too strong in the post season as he won his second straight title. While they would fall short of greatness, it would still be forever immortalised in Yellowknife’s history. This game would become an infamous Ultimus game for them as it began the Ultimus curse. For the Bigsby led team, this would be the first of their 4 straight Ultimus losses, and becoming known as constant Ultimus chokers. Eventually. Cooter’s swan song in S23 would be the only thing to bring relief back to Canada.

Long PT: Mount Rushmore one

If we were to create a Mount Rushmore for the Colorado Yeti the players that would be on it would be just a mere mark on what the team has been for the history of this franchise granted I don't know much about the team prior to when I joined a few seasons ago but if we don't account for the you know 18 seasons prior to my joining on the site then we can create a pretty good list of four players I think shaped the direction and the future directions of this franchise for the foreseeable future.

The first of these players is going to be pidgeys player and that is Wolfie make dummy otherwise known as everyone's favorite doggo. Wolfie has been a key player in the late surge of the Yeti towards the top of the league having them knew from perennial jokes in believed to a team most weeks is expected to at least compete and keep the game within three to four points if they lose or win and sometimes even when in dominating fashion. Wolfie has been one of the better quarterbacks in the league over the last few seasons as well even though he is an old man and close to the end of his career this is not stopped him from putting up numbers that most quarterbacks would love to put up and match as well as being a great quarterback at controlling the game and making sure that the yeti don't turn the ball over nearly as much as most teams in the league have done of late.

The second player on the yeti Mount Rushmore is going to have to be the incredibly lazy Thor Kirkby who let's be honest hasn't really done anything in his career of note outside of being on teams and helping them win championships he never really shows up outside of coming  to games and doing the absolute bare minimum to keep himself active and around to win Awards that said he still is one of the best player on the team and it will be sad now that he is being shipped off to New York City to play for that new strange team that no one really ever cares about. He is deserving be on here purely because of his statistical marks over the last few seasons even as an inactive and this is a disappointing addition to the mountain if we are being honest with ourselves

the thrid player that I'm going to add to the Mount Rushmore of the Colorado Yeti is going to have to be actually Owens the running back that has done more for my fantasy teams over the last season been almost any other player in the league. Is this pic purely be he is on my fantasy team every single season absolutely but in all reality there really isn't anyone else who goes on the spot. As we will see shortly before player on the mountain is really the only one who has dominated the team enough to deserve a spot but we need to fill out the rest of the mountain with three other players so Owens gets the nod as the third on this list. He has been incredibly helpful. In terms of putting up yards and helping the team take down the clock lightning game where we need to do whatever we can to hold onto victories and has been instrumental in helping us win a championship and getting to another one

The last and most elite player to make the yeti Mount Rushmore is going to be none other than silver banana also known as Kiki boy around the team this is a clear and obvious pick to make rushmore as he's the only one on this team who really has amounted to anything over his entire career winning a kicker of the Year award two seasons ago as well as helping the team be one of the best in the Special Teams depart for the entire duration of his stint in a Yeti uniform. Happy Gary fans love and adore him and he also kicked the game-winning point after attempt in the only ever Championship win for the yeti making him a renowned name in Colorado and a name that fans will remember for the rest of their lives. Had this player not played for the yeti for the entirety of his career it is highly likely that they never win another game again and whatever team he was traded to or signed on as a free agent would be in the same spot at the Yeti are in now.

This is what I would consider the be the mount rushmore for the Yeti, a fine list of names highlighted by the best kicker in ISFL history with a few other dudes sprinkled in.

RE: (S24) - Ultimus Week - iStegosauruz - 09-23-2020

3) For any team, certain players and users have gone above and beyond, shaping the legacy of the franchise. Choose any ISFL or DSFL team and create a Mount Rushmore for that team. Who in your mind are the four most noteworthy figures of the team’s history? Why does each one of your included figures deserve that recognition, and how did each of them make their mark?

This week has been sad week in Austin Copperheads history, while also being a week filled with immense promise. It became official this week that both of the original GMs of the Austin Copperheads are moving into other roles. AdamS stepped down a few seasons ago to pursue other opportunities but stuck around as a vital member of the locker room and war room. His newest player, however, Adam C. Spencer is a prospect in the upcoming ISFL Draft and there is no promise that the Copperheads will be able to retain him or his services in the locker room. Along with this, at the conclusion of the recent expansion draft, Joe stepped down as General Manager of the Copperheads. He promoted Mooty to head GM and Amidships to Co-GM. This is momentous because Joe has been one of the longest serving GMs in the league and is responsible for helping build Austin into the team it is today. Amidships has an immense amount of potential, and to be clear was a pick I endorsed fully to be a future GM when we acquired him from the Baltimore Hawks. Change is always scary, however, and few changes are bigger than this. In this way, I think it is obvious that both Joe and Adam would be the two first figures on an Austin Copperhead version of Mount Rushmore. They founded the team, helped bring it its first Ultimus, and set up the team for the future success that I think we're going to have. Both users had players that were vital to the team - from Awkward Sexjoke being a stalwart in the Austin secondary for several seasons to Easton Cole establishing himself as one of the top quarterbacks in the league for the last approximately ten seasons and has a legitimate conversation to start about being a Hall of Fame candidate.

The rest of the members to join Mount Rushmore get more difficult. I think the third choice is still a bit obvious - Mooty - who just retired his player Mako Mendonca after his first season of regression to make a new quarterback for the Copperheads. Jackie Daytona will eventually replace Easton Cole, which is an honor for anyone. The cost, however, was Mootmey retiring a player who was on a potential hall of fame trajectory to benefit the team for the future. Mendonca had an excellent final season, however, and arguably should win Running Back of the Year. He had 1810 all purpose yards for the Copperheads this season. This is incredibly impressive but also poses the question - "what could have been." It feels like Mendonca still had several good years ahead of him and could have made push up the stat sheets to be an all-time great. While the player may be gone too soon it is only a testament to how great the user is and how much he cares about Austin and the future of the team. Plus mooty is the best sim tester on Austin. Full stop.

I'd like to pick two more members to join these three shoe-ins, but the waters get a bit more muddied. I think SDCore and his player Rod Tidwell deserve a spot, however. Tidwell was one of the best receivers in the league for a generation and SD is one of the most stable and respected members in the league. He was a lifetime Copperhead who gave it his all for the team and was rewarded with an impressive career filled with incredible statistics and achievements. His career, like Mendonca's, potentially ended a bit too early. Tidwell would have had a few more successful seasons - Nate Swift has shown that a WR can keep producing even multiple seasons into regression - but the WR room in Austin is young and talented and Tidwell would've been the old head in the room with no easy route to playing time. Instead of pursuing an offer from another team he made the difficult decision to recreate. Austin definitely wants to retain his services, but regardless of how the draft goes SD will be a legend in Copperhead history for his years of consistent contributions both on the field and in the locker room.

The final member of the Austin Copperhead version of Mount Rushmore is one that I have to put up there but also have to meme extensively. Dermot Lavelle Jr. has had an incredible career. The highest earning player of all time, Dermot is a stalwart in the league and has done a lot of amazing work for the league. He's partially responsible for the success we've had and where we are today - both in Austin and the league. That being said, Dermot sucks and Mendoza is going to take him out back and put him down one of these days. Who am I kidding though - he's had an incredible season this past year and shows no sign of slowing down, even as he regresses further. But he still sucks.

The Team of Destiny:

Do you believe in destiny? In the theory that our lives are pre-ordained and that we are at the mercy of the Fates? While some people are full-on believers, there are others who only believe that some aspects of life are fated, while others are left open ended. Why am I rambling about fate and destiny on a task for a football league? Well, to those that believe in such philosophical ideologies, the concept of a “Team of Destiny” is very familiar.

For those who are not so familiar, a Team of Destiny is a team that is steeped in hardships. On paper, they are sure to fail. They lack the perceived talent, and strategical acumen to even be a playoff contender. Yet somehow, the beat all the odds, defy all the laws of logic and reason, and manage to win it all. They are the ultimate dark-horse. There isn’t a team like this every year, but usually there is a squad that can fit the description. However, few teams that fit that description actually manage to go all the way.

This season, in my totally accurate season predictions, I had San Jose with a  record of 4-12, with wins vs Honolulu, Sarasota, Baltimore, and Austin (all while at home). Let’s look at how it actually played out:

W1: A miraculous 27-20 win over the Austin Copperheads in Austin
W2:  A thumping win over Orange County in San Jose (24-14).
W3: A surprise loss at home to the Honolulu Hahalua, 40-37
W4: A 27-20 loss to the Arizona Outlaws in Arizona
W5: A massive win in New Orleans (17-14)
W6: A big 20-17 against the Philadelphia Liberty to bring them to 3-2 on the season.
W7: A tough loss against the Chicago Butchers in Chicago (10-3)
W8: A visit from the Sarasota Sailfish results in a nail-biting loss, 20-17
W9: A dominating performance over the Baltimore Hawks while at home in San Jose (33-16)
W10: An upset of massive proportions in Yellowknife, as the Sabrecats run away with a 28-3 win
W11: A loss on the road to the Colorado Yeti, who at this team are looking like strong favourites to win it all.
W12: A win at home against the Austin Copperheads give then the crucial series victory against them within the conference. At this point, the SaberCats are 7-5 in a very tight conference race. This win was crucial to their chances at the playoffs
W13: Following their big win was a loss at Orange County. Having won against the Otters in W2 mean the teams split their head-to-head meetings. Something that gets to mean more and more as the ASFC continues to dissolve into mosh-pit of teams vying for playoff spots.
W14: This one was a crucial loss against the Honolulu Hahalua. By this time, the Hahalua were pretty well resolved that they were good enough to compete for a playoff spot, but not good enough to win. Nonetheless, they were able to hand another loss to the team of destiny, who were now looking like the team of status quos.
W15: At 7-7, this game was absolutely vital for the SabreCats’ playoff chances. They would pull out a win against the Outlaw, 21-13, to advance to 8-7.
W16: This was perhaps the most important game in the SaberCats, and it came when most teams were wrapping up their season and resting players headed into the playoffs. This is the game where the Team of Destiny was solidified. Down 23-14 in the 4th quarter, with the playoffs on the line, the SabreCats pulled off a 10 point comeback to beat out the New Orleans Second Line, and secure a playoff berth for the franchise. However, as it would turn out, due to their win against NOLA in W5, the SabreCats not only owned the head-to-head against 2 ASFC teams, they owned the best conference record, making them the best out of 4 teams to end their record at 9-7. The innocuous SabreCats had gone from not making playoffs, to regular season conference winners, and earning a Quarter-Finals bye.

Semi Finals: Despite having home field advantage, the SabreCats faced a tremendous uphill battle to get their ring, represented in the pundits giving him a +900 (10%) chance win it all. Against Orange County, it is my estimation that their win percentage was somewhere around 37%-42%. Miraculously, they didn’t just beat the Otters – they crushed them in a convincing 3-17 win. It was there and then that I knew no matter how well the Yeti tested, we were screwed. This was the Team of Destiny.

Finals: This is a spot I know too well. Having been on the Yeti team that we’re the team of Destiny all but two seasons ago, it was odd to have the situation reversed on us. We were heavy favourites coming into the game. Heavy favourites. I had tested around 90%, but I put us closer to 85%. With less than 15% chance, the SaberCats did what they have done all season. They got out there in the face of all odds, and absolutely ran the field winning the S24 Ultimus.

Congratulations to the Sabercats. Every now and then, Destiny favours the less fortunate to give tales to tell for ages. Although it won’t ever be as infamous as the 3-21, this is a loss (and a win) that I will remember for a long time.

I created for the first time as part of the S25 ISFL class, right before the S24 DSFL draft. Coming over from the SHL, I did not have a lot of expectations towards the league because I do not know a lot about football and I am not that big of a fan either : I normally only watch the Superbowl, maybe the odd Canadian Football League game.

I also did not have a lot of expectations towards myself. That’s why I created as an offensive liner. I don’t understand much about football, but I understand enough to know what they do: protect the star players against the opposing team. I also could see that it’s a position where there is a lot of need for human players instead of bots.

The people in the OL Club were very welcoming. Even before the being drafted to a team, I could sense a strong support from users with more experience. They explained to me how best to build my player to be as efficient as possible and were also of very good advice when drafting for fantasy. I wouldn’t have gotten far without the help I got from those guys.

I can’t say I felt very excited when the draft came. I had created only a week before and didn’t post much, so I believe flew under a lot of radars. Only one team scouted me in a very short interview. I was even a bit worried I wouldn’t be drafted. But the Pythons took me in and so I started my career with them.

I wasn’t very active throughout that whole first season. Not that I planned to be much anyways. I didn’t hang around in the locker room much. I did my thing on the site and a few tweets here and there. I do like the way the ISFL handles Twitter a lot. It’s more rewarding and easier to claim than the SHL way. But it started to change when we got new GMs. Southpaw has made sure I was staying into it, messaging me once or twice a week to check on me. That slowly convinced me to check the LR server a bit more often and try to participate more. My fellow OL zEagle1, or Chuck Roth, starting to like some of my tweets also helped make it feel like I wasn’t doing it only for money or TPE.

We made the playoffs too, so I was there to watch our game. Sadly, we lost, but I’m confident we can come back strong next season. I’m a bit more excited for the ISFL draft too, a few more teams scouted me this time around and I do have a slight preference for one of them (also I won’t complain if I go elsewhere).

13) My experience of the league so far has been really good. When I first heard about the league I wasn’t sure how much I would like it or how long I would actually stick with it but I thought I’ll give it a chance and I’m very glad I did. Before I was drafted I wasn’t very active on discord so having some real life friends in the league, who were rookies also, helped keep me interested and earning TPE.

In the lead up to draft night I started to get more excited than I thought I would. I had no idea what team I would be going to and I didn’t have a preferred team so my only hope going into the draft was to be drafted with some of my friends. As the draft started at 1am UK time I had fallen asleep before the draft started. I woke up around 2am and looked at my phone to find out I had been drafted by Kansas City.  Who knew being drafted in a sim league could be so exciting! Cause I certainly didn’t. It was awesome going in to the LR for the 1st time to meet my new teammates, shout out to Matty and Butters for drafting me. As it’s my first time in a sim league the first few days I was quiet as I wanted to see how everything played out and now I would say I’m a pretty active part of our LR.

The rookie class that Kansas City drafted along with myself has definitely added to my enjoyment of the league as I think going to a LR that maybe wasn’t so active would suck. Kansas City’s new GM’s, Glims and Simo, have both added to that good LR atmosphere and they’ve done all they can to keep people, including myself, active and involved with the team. My fellow rookies, Slate, Cody, Grav and WhatAmUs, have also added so much to the team and definitely make the team a really enjoyable place to be.

My player, Tony Yeboah, has done pretty well his 1st season in the league. He had a good amount of tackles, 68, and he also lead Kansas City in sacks with 6. I’m really excited to see where he goes in the ISFL draft and see how he progresses.

If there’s any thing I would say that could maybe improve the league is maybe some discord help for rookies. I know we have the rookie discord but for myself I didn’t really want to get involved with discord at the start as there just seemed to be so many different channels and so many different conversations going on that it was a bit overwhelming at first and I didn’t feel like I could get involved in anything until I was drafted. But I know a lot of rookies get really involved with discord straight away so it wouldn’t be for everyone.

14) Clay Stallworth for DSFL Offensive Lineman of the Year. To me and many others this isn’t a argument but I’ll lay out a few of the reasons why I feel like Clay is a absolute lock for this award.  To begin with Clay has broken two big league records. One being the single game record for pancakes with thirteen, which he set in week seven against the Royals. The other record he broke, which had stood for around twenty seasons, was the single season record for pancakes. The record used to be sixty-seven but he ended the season on seventy-one pancakes. He also only allowed two sacks throughout the whole season.

To break two big records like this in one season is incredible and highly unlikely. The man mountain at tackle and an integral part of what is definitely the best offensive line in the DSFL, if not both leagues. Clay has gone down in history as a KCC legend and should go down as a DSFL legend also.  This is why I feel like this is the one award where every vote should go to one player.  So I think it’s fair to say that Clay will win the DSFL award and when he gets called up to the ISFL, he will win the ISFL award.

16) A game which I think will be the best game I see in the DSFL or ISFL for a very long time was the week three game in the DSFL between the Kansas City Coyotes and the Tijuana Luchadores. Kansas City came in to the game at 0-2 after defeats away at Myrtle Beach and Dallas. Tijuana came in to the game at 2-0 after two easy wins at home against Dallas and Myrtle Beach.  The game would be played in Kansas City and many thought it would be an easy win for Tijuana.  These people were being proved right at half time after Tijuana went in at 21-7 up. But after the break Kansas City came out firing on all cylinders and scored three straight touchdowns.

A Covington to King Tut three yard pass was followed by two touchdowns from Joshua Campbell, the first was an eighty-eight yard punt return touchdown and the second was an eighteen yard pass from Covington. Tijuana equalled things up at the end of the 3rd quarter to make it 28-28. Tijuana scored another touchdown with 8:58 left ijn the 4th to go up by a touchdown. Sergio Kitchens ran in a touchdown with 3:12 left to get the scores even again but it left plenty of time on the clock for Tijuana to go down the field and win the game. As they were driving up the field Mac Griddle snagged an interception to kill the drive. Kansas City couldn’t score to win the game so it went to overtime. Tijuana won the toss and begun to drive the ball up the field. Mac Griddle came up clutch again as he got another interception and returned it for 32 yards to the Tijuana four yard line.  Covington threw the ball to Sergio Kitchens for another touchdown and Kansas City got the win. The game ended 41-35 and it was a massive win for Kansas City. Mac Griddle and Joshua Campbell were the MVP’s of the game. Mac with his two clutch interceptions and Campbell with his three touchdown performance.

Task 13)

When I first joined the league I was a bit intimidated by all the stuff I had to keep up with and do to keep my player up to date. However through my first season I have discovered that it is not as difficult as I initially thought and definitely more fun. From being drafted in the 11th round to winning an ultimini I think my experience thus far has been an enlightening one.

As for the most the most helpful people I have met thus far I’d have to give that credit to my two GMs from the royals Mag and abh, those dudes have been nothing but supportive, informative, and friendly. They have definitely helped me get more adjusted into the league and made the locker-room feel a lot more welcoming. They’ve been so cool that I kinda hope I can stay in the DSFL just another season to help them win another ultimini for all the help they’ve given me. Another special shoutout goes to the rest of the royals locker room. Those guys have been so active and hype that our morale never felt low and our highs were always sweeter. A special mention would also have to go to the former London GMs for helping draft me and being supportive both while they were there and afterwards.

Having won an ultimini in my first season and helping seal away one of our playoff games would definitely make you think I would be satisfied with this season. And I kind of am, but the thing is I know I could have done better. But hey it’s hard not to get out done when you have a legend like Danny King in your running back room and a future legend in Charlemagne Cortez slinging it at QB. Having to split carries with King as well as our third RB Batista defiantly hindered my stats on the season but I still managed to break 1000 yards get 6 TDs and help win an ultimini. But I still look back at those games, wins and losses alike, and wonder if there were other areas I could have put points into that week that could’ve helped better when I was out there.

I think there a lot of great rookie help in the league tat makes it easier to get into the thick of things. But I feel like one thing that should be encouraged from the get go is familiarity with the sim itself. It helped me so much to learn about the inner workings of the sim and different aspects of it. Once I learned more about certain nuances with the stat system as well as the advantage home field could give I just wanted to learn more. And if I am being honest I think that made me a better player overall.

Tijuana has a long history of success in the DSFL, and many users have been a part of that success and making the team what it is today. For my Mount Rushmore I will be choosing four general managers and also their co manager as I think the combinations of these managers brought out the best in each other and helped to shape the impact each one had on the Tijuana Luchadores franchise. All of these users have the Tijuana Legend role in our locker room (except one but we’ll get to that) and there is also a few honourable mentions I think have to be brought up when talking about the history of the Luchadores.

@nunccoepi (S7-S12) and @iseedoug (S8-S12)
Nunc was brought on as Payton’s co originally but after a season he took over as general manager and started his partnership with iseedoug. This general manager pairing to me is what started the culture of success on the field and development of players and users who would go on to bigger things within the league that Tijuana is now so famous for. These guys brought in the captain system that remains in the locker room and supplies the war room with a steady stream of willing users ready to help. They won three championships in a row from S8 to S10 which was unprecedented and has yet to be repeated, and the competitiveness in the modern DSFL makes me think it might never be. They were so organised that their replacements had already been lined up a season before they were needed, and systems were in place to make it a seamless transition.

@PaytonM34 (S6-S7, S13-S14) and @Ben (S13-S15)
And here are those replacements, it feels a bit weird to talk about myself and a little self-indulging to even put myself on here so I’ll talk about Payton first. Payton has been intertwined with Tijuana since it was a team with only one season above .500 (S5 was 7-6). Jaskins brought him on as his co and when he stepped down it was Payton who hired nunc to work alongside him (and we just found out how successful of a hire that was). He later drafted TomHanks and together we chose him to replace Payton when he had to step down (more on TH later). Payton and I won a championship together in S13, and also created “the wall” which famously started the revival of OL as more active users chose the position and saw success at the DSFL level and is something Tijuana is known for still. I’ve also been a pretty active member of the war room since stepping down but enough about me.

@TomHanks (S15-S17) and @ScorpXCracker (S16-S17)
I know what you’re thinking “Scorp? Mr. Norfolk himself? He bleeds blue how have you got him on the Tijuana Mt Rushmore?” Well, I’m old enough to remember when Norfolk was just another bot team and Scorp was Tijuana through and through. Scorp has a special role in the locker room called “Technically a Legend but still the enemy” which is fitting to say the least. Tom and Scorp go together like Payton and myself, you can’t tell the story of one without the other. They also were very successful, winning the Ultimini both seasons they were in charge of the team together.

@FleshBagSoup (S20-S22) and @Jay_Doctor (S21-S23)
Bagel (wait fleshbagsoup is bagel??) was brought on as Fuzzy’s co originally and when the latter stepped down Jay was chosen to be the new co general manager. Admittedly I was more inactive over this period of the league than I was others but I still could see the positive impact both of these guys had on the atmosphere of the locker room. Bagel significantly improved Tijuana’s emoji game and Jay brought us Jpach, even if that was all they had done they would be successful general managers but luckily for us it was just the start. They also had success on the field (a common theme here) winning a championship together in S22.

Honourable mentions:
@goodfortunecoffee (Fuzzy) is a guy who I mentioned already who showed amazing character as Tijuana GM. He was unexpectedly given the job as head GM after another user completely quit the league without warning. With the support of the war room he handled the role extremely well and chose a co GM to eventually take over who is now on my Mt Rushmore, so great job.

@loco created the team in the first place. He didn’t have as much success as a GM in the early years of the DSFL but he made a brand that people wanted to play for and started the atmosphere and culture of the locker room which has taken off to where it is today.

And finally our current GMs @mithrandir and @SwankyPants31, who took a 6-8 team last season to 10-4 this season through their incredible drafting and activity promoting culture in the locker room. Just looking at the rookie class from Tijuana in this season’s draft shows that these guys are very good at their primary job as DSFL GMs, which is developing players and users. Our team is very committed to trying to get a championship for them so that when they eventually retire they can get their names in blue as Tijuana Legends.
